Great car ! Had a 1969 4 door Thunderbird . Bought it in 1997 . Had 38,000 miles on it . Burnt orange and white vinyl top . Had every option except door locks and all worked . Never a winter driven car and no rust or pitting on all the chrome and white metal trim . Had same wheel covers as yours . Classy car. Wish I would have kept it .
My father had a burgundy 4 door T-bird (with suicide doors)... it was such a futuristic / concept car looking machine with its giant "jet intake" grille (with hideaway headlights)... and those rear "full bar" sequential taillights. What a gloriously "Jetsons" ride. Wish we still had it, sure stands out today as a shining example of Ford concept car luxury !

@@loucostabile ... VERY similar... ours was a darker metallic burgundy and a 4 door, but the taillights are the same. The 69 had split taillights, while the 68 had a full solid bar taillight. Subtle changes in those years, but all very classy with T-bird logos everywhere!
That's a true classic! Brings back memories of my neighbor's 1969 Thunderbird, but theirs had the suicide 4 doors. It was white with a black vinyl Landau top. This 2 door is a sporty model with that copper paint job. Healthy sounding 429. These are cars you rarely see on the road today. Cars had so much more class back in 1969.

¡Saludos cordiales, Lou!

Great car, great colour, and the owner did a spectacular job with the engine and a/c. Runs really quiet with no valve tick. There were actually three body styles in this generation. Integrating the A/C into this car took some great skill. Really nice work. The only T-Bird I recall like this was a '67 Landau owned by one of my aunt's friends. He drove it a long time and it was always unique looking. He was an artist and an antique collector and he appreciated the lines of the car, I'm sure. Thanks for showing us this car inside and out. I remember seeing only a handful of these cars back in the 1970s. Thank you Kelly for keeping it original.
Hi, Lou! I just had to check this one out because this is definitely a car you don't see every day. Even T-Bird fans don't seem to give a lot of attention to this 1967-1971 generation, which was the only generation that included a four-door, which would be especially refreshing to see. Kelly sure picked a great one here in that copper shade, and the big sail panel and wraparound rear seat really give it an air of exclusivity. It's great that Kelly is keeping this as original as possible. I think most of us want to see these cars as we remember them. Many thanks to both of you for taking us all on this rare Bird flight!
Hi iswc27, You're right. A rare site to see this year Bird today. Here is the 4 door for you. You're welcome, Lou ua-cam.com/video/-8jfHzVz2kM/v-deo.html
In high school my buddy and I used to drive around in his mom's dark green 67 suicide 4 dr. What a great car! His mom's had a 390, but it could still build a good head of steam. Thanks for the memories Lou!
Certainly a treat to see this Thunderbird. Love at first sight since they came out. You're right it brings me back to childhood. Fabulous design either 2 or 4 door! 🏆 Anyone still have the Hot Wheels of it?
One of my friends in high school in the late 1970s had a 1968 T-bird coupe factory 429 Thunderjet. With 4 people in the car, that car would outrun most of the tuned-up muscle and pony cars that put up a challenge. It was quiet and comfortable, solid and dependable, fast and fuel thirsty, and I always wished I had one.
A good friend of mine had one of these, almost identical, when new. I drove that car a lot and it was absolutely superb. Powerful yet quiet and smooth.
That really is a nice Tbird. I owned a 69 Mark III built on the same platform, Those are such a great riding car, its like sitting on your couch as you drive down the road and steer with your pinky. I always thought the interior of both cars was unique, the warning lights above the rear view mirror are so kewl. Great video Lou, I live in AZ hope to see that T bird driving around one day !

What a beauty! This vehicle is superb in looks, even today! To me, this cars back in the late 60's had an eye for envy. Huge 429 V8 made some speed...429 Ford engines were NASCAR "approved" in auto racing if I remember. This car was an executive favorite (as shown in ads and TV commercials) Lou...you do such a good job in all these classic car shows...giving the person showing the car the proper pride and joy of ownership and when they showcase the cars. Have any of the passenger cars you've done been a 1966 Rambler Classic four door with a 232 6 cylinder...Pontiac '66 Le Mans coupe with a 326 V8 and automatic...1970 VW Fastback? I had the joy of driving them and owning two: the Pontiac (my very first car I bought in September of 1970 [$650]), and the VW, which a four on the floor I was given by my folks in December of '75 ? The Rambler was one I drove at times after I got my operator license in 1968. My folks bought it in April of 1966 (in fact, it was April 23...a Saturday) My very first car date was in that yellow/black car...That was late June in Indianapolis.
Lou, what a great video! This one was a bit longer and more detailed, and as usual it really got me interested in a car that I never gave a second thought to. I never realized how cool of a car the '67-'69 T-Birds were. Even the 4-doors with the suicide doors look very classy. I wouldn't mind owning one. Keep up the great videos Lou!!
@@loucostabile I hadn't seen that one Lou. What a beautiful car, and only 18k miles! I never noticed how many places on the car Ford snuck the T-Bird image in to. Very classy. Could do without the Landau roof though. Tell that owner to stop worrying about the milage and just enjoy the car! Thats why Ford built it!
They were pretty cheap just 5 years or so ago. Prices have doubled for these since I've noticed.... and rightfully so!.... They're STILL under valued imo. Grab one while you can! I'm loving mine!
Grew up with a neighbour who always had T-Birds. He told my father once that “once you drive a Thunderbird you’ll never want to drive anything else.” Funny thing is, his last car was a Torino.
The copper and black color scheme looks so good on this car. Back in the 90s, I almost bought a copper 1969 T-Bird for $1500, but I did not. I have regrets.
The '70 and '71 with the "beaks" were the same gen too, as hard as that is to believe. Tip: Front clips from the nice looking '67 - '69's will bolt right on and fix 'em. ;) What's cool about some of the "beak" car's is, they also offered a sort of fastback roof in some. In fact, most have it. It's far less common to see the "beak" cars with the normal back ends. A front clip put on one of the fast back style with some mags, a rear spoiler and a blower through the hood, or a big hood scoop, would make for a MEAN looking muscle car! One day I might build such an animal. Most of the "beak" cars, have nicer, plusher (cloth) interiors too.
@@Warrior_Resisting_Colonialism ; 67's are the same gen., but I don't think the body panels and fenders are exactly the same as 68' + 69'. BOSS NINE hood scoop might look pretty good, but I saw one with a dinky little hood scoop (narrow) and it looked completely out of place,

I had a 69 thunderbird in high school in 1973. I bought it from a cheapo car lot on old Route 66 Oklahoma City for $1100. Also a landau with factory sunroof. It also had factory cruise control 8-track player, console, P/W and power driver's seat. It actually was a one owner car with 80,000 miles but must have been hard miles. The 429 had a rod knock every time you started the car and the transmission slipped a little. However, despite all of that, I drove it to Northern California and back from Southern Oklahoma with the cruise control set to 77mph on the interstates. The last cheap trip before gas prices shot up. I have always liked the 69 but I only ever wanted a true hardtop, which had no vinyl and also had the rear quarter windows.
Always found these quite attractive, in the right color. Saw one in a dark red with G60×15 tires at each corner that was a real eye catcher. Of course, that was decades ago.
Another beautiful T-Bird Lou! I really enjoyed this video. I love that copper color. I had a 71 back in 1982 and my high school buddy had a 69 and his dad had a 67 or 68. They had a lot of great features for the time. Mine had the 429 and I did bury the speedometer a couple of times in my reckless youth. Those things just float down the road. I'm jealous of Kelly!

Hi Mr Repurpose, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Uncles car :-) Here is that 1968 you requested, Lou ua-cam.com/video/-8jfHzVz2kM/v-deo.html
Lou ... Years ago when I was just a kid , "Hot Wheels " the toy cars were brand spanking new & the had many cars they produced in miniature for. I had this suicide doors Thunderbird . In the print outside the box listed it's Real Life model specifications & list of equipment. I was so overjoyed to have it. I got both this one & a 68 SS Camaro I bought @ the same time. Just a coupla years later my Favorite Aunt purchased this same car here in this video & her husband Purchased the SS 70 Camaro. Was I blown away or what.! Yep those were the days my friend. Those two Uncle an Aunt were childless & embraced me & my siblings as there own. My Mom had divorced my Dad. Yup he had his interests in another lady. Everything turned up fine for all involved. But my love of Cars had changed from High HP cars to more Luxurious ones. My reasoning was sure it's fun to go fast but everyone spends more time going the speed limit & following posted speeds. So I thought it'd be Far better to be surrounded by luxury or be stuck with a basic no frills interiors. I chose Luxury. To this day that's what I have for my daily driver. My Lexus. Uh don't get mad @ me now I still run around most Sundays in my Dad's ol 71 Lincoln Continental. Yep that's my jewel I keep pristine & covered up in my Garage. Regular oil changes .. monthly checks of the diff & recently changed the tyranny fluid. Twice. Let's not forget the Torque Converter has got quite a bit of Trans fluid in it too. Replaced the radiator w/an all aluminum. Constructed one. Triple Core. My Dad lived near Death Valley & the Heat there is uggly hot . He didn't drive much had very poor eyesight after 63yrs living. Did lots of welding through the years took a toll on his eyesight. I got the car as a gift from him on his 70th B-Day. Really got all my Siblings riled up but I'm the ONLY mechanic for there cars & I'm a licensed mechanic by trade. Retired now but they really were pizzed off I got the Car. Anyhow I still take out my Green beauty & take her to church & it still gets ooh's an ahh's wherever I go.
Gorgeous T-Bird. In the fall of 1976 my Dad was trying to decide between a new 1977 white w/red interior T-Bird or a white w/red interior LTD coupe. Against my wishes he went with the LTD!
Nice! Always liked this generation, even though I've owned one from the generation before, a '65 white/red when I first moved to CA. Found it for $400, had non matching wheels, smoked like a mosquito truck, but the body (needed paint) all straight and interior perfect! After paint, complete restore of engine, trans, wheels, brakes, etc. and $2800.00 later, it was beautiful. This '69 in the 2 dr. Landau option is a find. The suicide door 4 dr. I wouldn't say no to either.
When these were new the local Ford dealer rarely kept these in stock due to the high price. I remember two, one of which was a two door Landau like this. I used to hang out at the dealership and everyone working there knew me. One day the dealership owner asked me if I wanted to see a magic dust cloth. I was 12 so I believed him. He had me wiping the dust off the cars in the showroom one of which was the Thunderbird.
That back seat is too cool. It looks like a bordello back there. If the interior was red it would be too much. lol This is the 1st of the T-bird pimp DNA. I love the " Copper Flame Metallic". Infact I just painted an RC car of mine pretty much that exact color. Great video Lou...always on point.
Beautiful car I like how you used to know the year make and model of cars back then. The styling on cars were like rolling art. Now all of the cars look the same.
Wow! Love the Birds! Love the '70 hubcaps, some of the finest ever designed. That 429 has me salivating. The light doors on those were vacuum controlled. Did you know those cars new cost more than Boss Mustang's? Great video as always. Thamk you!!!
I personally think the ones with the bucket seats and center console are extremely perfect. Not too many people options to have that and even fewer in the four-door variation.

"NICE!" I was 10 when that T-Bird came out, and I really liked them. Very cool cars, but then I saw a 69 Cougar and that's the one that I loved. They kinda have the shape of the T-Bird but slimmer. Oh boy, the green of that year was so cool, and with the white interior, WOW! Yup, the T-Bird was cool, but the Cougar was "SAA-WEEEET!"
I owned a 69 Landau in light blue with dark blue fabric interior. It had an electrically driven sun roof controlled by a rocker switch mounted in the overhead panel. I was told that it was the only 69 with a sun roof, made as a show car for touring fairs and car shows of that era. I was the second owner after it was retired from show biz. The car was equipped with cruise control.
My 1st car was a 1969 thunderbird, yes the back seat was great for ......with relations with the girlfriend of the time. The trunk was good for bringing a keg to the party!

I had a chance to buy a 69 4 door, the suicide doors in the same color in the 80s for 1500 bucks. It had the so called Landau top. The t bird was in great shape. Wish I had
Yup, that's true. They are the same platform these years. The 429/460 engine was introduced in these cars in 1968. Exactly right, the bird got the 429 while the Lincoln got the 460.... also same basic engine, just a different stroke (to keep it in simple terms but it's not much more complicated than that. Most 429's get rebuilt into 460's during a reman. Those who are smart enough will do so. My '68 came with a reman 429 though, and it's not worth the expense now since it's fresh as is.)

I had a 71 and it’s amazing how similar they were. Boy did I enjoyed that car.
Hi joegarcia54, Like this one? Lou ua-cam.com/video/3KANjygNuaU/v-deo.html

My favorite year of T-bird. The car exudes cool.
HI Delray, Happy to read this is a favorite year for you :-) Lou
What a beauty! This vehicle is superb in looks, even today! To me, this cars back in the late 60's had an eye for envy.
Huge 429 V8 made some speed...429 Ford engines were NASCAR "approved" in auto racing if I remember. This car was an executive favorite (as shown in ads and TV commercials)
Lou...you do such a good job in all these classic car shows...giving the person showing the car the proper pride and joy of ownership and when they showcase the cars.
Hi Tom, Happy to read you enjoy the details of this "Beauty" :-) Appreciate the kind words on the video, Lou

Hi Barry, "You help me to live my car dreams!" NICE! You're welcome, Loui
Hey brother Kelly! This is your brother David! Also, thanks Lou, for another great video!
Hi D KC, My pleasure sharing this with you. You're welcome, Lou
Hi Classic Muscle Car Exhaust, Happy to read this video brought interest to you :-) Did you see this one? Lou ua-cam.com/video/EtGC6o4Xdng/v-deo.html
Beautiful Ford Thunderbird. What a survivor! Beautiful details. Thanks for posting!! have a blessed day!!
Hi Gerry, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're welcome. Blessings received. God bless you too, Lou
I had one of these in Dark Charcoal in 1969. Absolutely loved this car. This was a real luxury car. Wish I could send you pictures !
Happy to read "Absolutely loved this car" :-)
Grew up with a neighbour who always had T-Birds. He told my father once that “once you drive a Thunderbird you’ll never want to drive anything else.” Funny thing is, his last car was a Torino.
HI Trip Reviews, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your neighbor with T Birds :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Yes - Very cool classic Ford ride • Cheers from the Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂
Hi trainroomgary, Happy to share this "cool ride" with you :-) Cheers, Lou
Sweet ride. ❤
:-)
The copper and black color scheme looks so good on this car. Back in the 90s, I almost bought a copper 1969 T-Bird for $1500, but I did not. I have regrets.
Hi dr. no, We all have regrets of cars we should have bought :-) Lou
This car has such swagger and pelnty of power too.
Just the way we like it :-)
67' thru 69' "Glamour Birds" were the great.
The '70 and '71 with the "beaks" were the same gen too, as hard as that is to believe. Tip: Front clips from the nice looking '67 - '69's will bolt right on and fix 'em. ;)
What's cool about some of the "beak" car's is, they also offered a sort of fastback roof in some.
Hi Johnnyc drums, Happy to share this one with you :-) Lou
@@Warrior_Resisting_Colonialism ; 67's are the same gen., but I don't think the body panels and fenders are exactly the same as 68' + 69'.
BOSS NINE hood scoop might look pretty good, but I saw one with a dinky little hood scoop (narrow) and it looked completely out of place,
My Mom had one but it was White and it came with air and it had everything, A car made before it's time. Very nice, Stylish, Fast and comfortable.

Sweet ride like he said you see the older ones 66 and back rarely see a 69.
Hi The Sharkster, My pleasure sharing this rarely seen bird today with you, Lou
What a beautiful 69 and that copper paint w/the landau top gorgeous and that 429 I'm sure is all about torque in that cruiser!
Hi Brian, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this Cruiser :-) Lou
Hi Jeff, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Nice car Kelly. Those '69 Thunderbirds are hard to find, especially in as great a shape as yours is.
Hi Kelly, Happy to read you appreciate the rarity of seeing this car today. Lou
Always found these quite attractive, in the right color. Saw one in a dark red with G60×15 tires at each corner that was a real eye catcher. Of course, that was decades ago.
Hi 20alphabet, Happy to read this car brings back memories of the car you remember :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Hi Deacon Blue, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Glad to read this brings back memories of your car, Lou

A friend I grew up him and his dad collected nice Fords, they had nice muscle cars and trucks but one car he had under mounds of sheets inside a shed was a 1969 Thunderbird 429 convertible that had less then 100 miles.
Hi yavin99, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Friends Dads car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
There was no such thing as a convertible '69. It must have been earlier than this generation.
Very nice, my uncle had one of those. Still waiting to see a '67/68 4 door Thunderbird.

Nice car my favorite year 67 thru 71'
Hi John, Happy to read this is in the years you like :-) Lou
Nad...The Green Beauty gets oohhs and ahhhs at Church. AMEN! Lou
Gorgeous T-Bird. In the fall of 1976 my Dad was trying to decide between a new 1977 white w/red interior T-Bird or a white w/red interior LTD coupe. Against my wishes he went with the LTD!
Hi Peter, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) The T Bird would have been nice, Lou
Hi K B, Happy to read you had a fun 1965 :-) Lou
Love this ‘Bird! Great color!!
Happy to read "Love this 'Bird! :-)
Hi Dave, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Lou
That back seat is too cool. It looks like a bordello back there. If the interior was red it would be too much. lol
This is the 1st of the T-bird pimp DNA. I love the " Copper Flame Metallic". Infact I just painted an RC car of mine pretty much that exact color.
Great video Lou...always on point.
Hi judgegixxer, You're right, that back seat sure is cozy :-) Appreciate the kind words on the video, Lou
Beautiful car I like how you used to know the year make and model of cars back then. The styling on cars were like rolling art. Now all of the cars look the same.
Hi Czech Mate, Back then you'd get excited to see the "new Model" and you're right, no idea of year make & model today, Lou
Beautiful! 😍😍😍😍😍 Thanks Lou!
Hi motorTranz, Happy to read and see you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Wow! Love the Birds!
Love the '70 hubcaps, some of the finest ever designed. That 429 has me salivating. The light doors on those were vacuum controlled. Did you know those cars new cost more than Boss Mustang's?
Great video as always. Thamk you!!!
Hi Mikey B, High praise :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
I had a 1970. A different snout, but basically the same interior with that wrap around back seat.

That Landau top appears to be a privacy shade for that naughty back seat
Hmmm, might be right.
Hey Lou very nice car and colour thanks,Chuck.
Hey Chuck, Happy to read you enjoy the color of this car :-) Lou
I personally think the ones with the bucket seats and center console are extremely perfect. Not too many people options to have that and even fewer in the four-door variation.

"NICE!" I was 10 when that T-Bird came out, and I really liked them. Very cool cars, but then I saw a 69 Cougar and that's the one that I loved. They kinda have the shape of the T-Bird but slimmer. Oh boy, the green of that year was so cool, and with the white interior, WOW!
Yup, the T-Bird was cool, but the Cougar was "SAA-WEEEET!"
Hi Gordon, Here is that 1969 Cougar for you :-) Lou ua-cam.com/video/Hv1GYuupG00/v-deo.html

It would be nice to see all this gentlemans T - Birds side by side.
Hi Jon, You're right, that would be nice to see, Lou
Fun Fact , The 69 Thunderbird and Lincoln Mark 3 are basically the same car. The Bird has the 429, while The Lincoln has the 460 Engine...
Hi poisedforduty, Thank you for sharing the fun fact, Lou
Yup, that's true. They are the same platform these years. The 429/460 engine was introduced in these cars in 1968. Exactly right, the bird got the 429 while the Lincoln got the 460.... also same basic engine, just a different stroke (to keep it in simple terms but it's not much more complicated than that. Most 429's get rebuilt into 460's during a reman. Those who are smart enough will do so. My '68 came with a reman 429 though, and it's not worth the expense now since it's fresh as is.)
