@@reggordon4982 certainly a lot of untouched area back then, even areas I went to with dad it felt like nobody had ever been to. A lot of things contributed to those memories I’m sure Reg and the lesser part would have been like you stated, pulling the trigger.

    Hi Reg
This had me glued to the television just like back in early 2000 when I was only 12 year old watching sambar staking 2 on vhs with my uncle.
Thanks Reg for sharing the story's behind those sambar deer that are in your video.
Can't wait to see what part 2 has to offer us viewers😁

G’day Reg,thanks for another fantastic presentation. How things have changed over the years when Sambar deer hunting was somewhat of a secret society. Its fantastic to see all those grouse images taken many years ago.Great memories for all involved. In those days i would load my 40series with a tent, rifle, pack and head off looking for Sambar.I appreciate all your effort in putting these videos together.Cheers,Rob.

Yeah, Sambar hunting was a good excuse to go camping. Many a time, l wouldn't bother going hunting, but I just enjoy my time in the bush.

Hey Reg, thanks for another great video!
Would you consider unique names for your videos (or at least ad an episode number) so we can tell them apart or find specific ones more easily?

Great videos, but I'd love to see you go out and take some more deer in the present. Maybe there's a reason that you don't that I missed in a previous video, or maybe you're just over "the whole killing thing?" If so, I fully understand.

Hi Eddie, I'm going up next week filming, and l will dig up some old footage when l was backpacking in the 1990s.

Hi Eddie, Yeah, source as much good information as you can. When l first started hunting, it was difficult to find a person or persons who had similar ethics to hunt the deer under fair pursuit. Perhaps l didn't emphasise too much to hunt seriously because l played golf with my son over the spring and summer months. So l only concentrated on my Sambar hunting during the autumn and winter periods. Perhaps by the 1990s l was having some success with the rifle and by 2000 my interests in photography was my priority. Naturally, l perfer to stalk the sambar one on one because l find it more rewarding and challenging. Now l love spending quality time around the campfire with good mates.

Have you ever tried muzzleloader hunting?
I’m only early 30s but by my mid 20s I craved more of a challenge for myself and more of a go for the deer. Almost all my hunting is flintlock or if not open sights rifle.
Do you have an email address? I’d love to pick your brain on sambar.

Sorry for the late reply. I just got back from camping😊 l never had a shot at muzzleloader hunting. There was a guy from Narooma, NSW, who was into muzzleloading hunting (Dan Field) and loved it.
