hey mate. bit of a bum steer with the title... both the "how to hunt" and the "massive stag" part... apart from that its good to see you getting out and about... the best way to check the thermals switching is having a 'windicator' with you... either a lighter or a small puff bottle filled with corn flour works well. lets you check the wind quickly and you know for sure... when you got honked, did you stay still and call back? or did the deer bolt pretty much straight away? Ive had a lot of success before when being honked if i lower my profile and call back with the caller they tend to stay where they are and allow a shot... great vid mate, look forward to seeing more

@ZakB243 thanks for the feedback will try and get that trophy next video! Appreciate the knowledge. I think he was watching me the whole time I waited for little but he shot out of there like a bullet.

Don't go charging into a honk.
Sit down listen and pay attention use your caller.
The deer hears you scrabbling though it will continue to run or just Freaze and you'll need see them.

I've heard that too to wait they can come back because they are so curious I waited only few minutes and pushed up higher.
I was tired and I think it went into the next system I didn't have enough time or energy to keep stalking but I loved every bit of that hunt.

@@izzyActions depends if they smell you no way it's coming back but if you only scare it from a bed they might.
Thing is if you sit calm down and listen you'll know weres to sneek to.
If you make more ruckus they will just keep moving further and further away.
Your caller is of a fawn(baby deer) if a hind is around she could very well come back and stags follow hinds.
Over all keep calm quiet look more walk less. Once you happy you have scoured one area just walk through that rather fast to new country and look more again.

Good advice.👍It’s all good to film and talk while you’re stalking, but you will lessen your chance of success.Slow down and use your binoculars to scan the bush often.Take your time and stop intermittently. Most of all, enjoy your hunt.Cheers, Rob.
