    My company is allowing us to start carrying Tasers after we take a training course. I bought a used X26C and when I put the battery in instead of getting the battery life on the display all I get is E2? Light and laser work fine and I tested it without the cartridge and the stun gun part works just wondering what the heck E2 means.

      @@freefieldtraining Got this back from Taser thanks for the suggestion to contact them. The E2 error on the X26C indicates a time and date error on the weapon. It will not affect the functioning of the weapon, but if downloaded, the firing logs will show incorrect times. The only way to resolve the E2 error is to sync the weapon with a computer to update the Time/Date.

    I think I have just seen it all. I watched a video of a duty belt set up and this guy had his taser on his strong side in front of his gun.
    It went buckle, taser, OC Spray, and then gun. I dont know what taser training this guy went through but, when I went through it was taught if you wear a taser on your belt it's always support side and at a cross draw.
    Is there something new from when I recertified last year?

      Old comment, but still relevant. I run quite a few extra magazines on my vest blocking a strong side crossdraw for my taser. I now run my taser in a standard left handed grip. I follow the akimbo mentality for situations when I am the sole person on scene. I am trying to not shoot anybody, but there are lots of times where the necessity for lethal/non-lethal coverage is paramount.

      Tasers are really light compared to handguns. While it is not without precedent for a cop to mix up their taser and handgun under stress it is far from common in recent history due to better updated taser training. I have several videos on my channel talking about duty belt setups and why we put the taser in a different type of holster and on the opposite side of the body or on the chest away from our handguns in an effort to eliminate these types of unfortunate incidents. Here is but one: ua-cam.com/video/33CYpdhBJi8/v-deo.html

      You can use it as a contact stun gun, it is just a pain compliance tool at that point and of limited use though. The only time I find that technique particularly effective is in fighting people into cuffs when you just can't quite get the horsepower up to get hands behind the back when they are face down.

    Cant people upgrade their own vests by simply putting an aluminium foil cut out on top of the ballistic insert? As an electrical engineering student I cant think of a reason why that wouldnt work assuming both prongs hit the vest. Human body has very high resistance, aluminium foil in parallel to it would act as a short. It is the same principle as a layer of conductive mesh within the insert itself.

    • @freefieldtraining

      kyle 123 yes that is a problem in high stress situations. It can easily be mistaken as a firearm and vice versa. That is why it is becoming a standard for the taser to be holstered in a cross draw fashion on the other side of the duty belt from the firearm. Also, some run the taser holstered on their duty vest. Although mistakes still happen. So you're absolutely correct. That's why training is important.

    So would it be good to just aim for someone's lower body like at the waist and continuing down. I wouldn't want to hurt someone badly even if they were doing that to me -if I could avoid it--

  • @GluedBarstool

    That M26 is not civilian model. The civilian models in that body style were the M18 and M18L.
    The M26 in your hand is actually the strongest taser ever made. The x26 is what changed things with the shaped pulse technology where the two tasers are differentiated by explaining the M26 as “kicking the door in” and the X26 as “using a key to unlock the door” when it comes to its success against suspects.
    The x26 is better but that M26 straight up jacked people up haha.
    Love your taser knowledge, great video!!

    Can civilians own this type of taser?

    • @freefieldtraining

      Tasers are not restricted in most places in the US. So in most places it is perfectly legal to own any taser. The company "taser" restricts sales of some of them though.

      Here’s the problem though you need to use reasonable and necessary force. Especially if your a cop or security guard. Your actions are going to be knit picked in court and need to be able to justify your actions. If you use deadly force on someone who poses a threat but not a deadly threat you’ll be in a world of shit.

    How can you have high voltage with low amperage?
    It's like having high pressure water pipe and have low water flow when you turn the valve on.

    • @elkien3
      @elkien3 2 роки тому

      old comment I know, but this is because of Ohm's Law: Amperage = Volts/Resistance. so high resistance on a high voltage system will have high volts but low amperage. Like making a tight nozzle on a high pressure water pipe, it's still high pressure, but there isn't much flow.

    So why does the police version have a 5 second cycle? So the officer can quickly handcuff the suspect after it discharges?

    • @freefieldtraining
      @freefieldtraining  6 років тому +2

      The police model ones are for taking people I to custody while they are being shocked. The consumer model ones are to buy you time while you run away. Kinda like how police use of martial arts is often different from military or standard civilian versions. The techniques and equipment are tailored to the end goal.
