    Did you have to push that motorcycle for 400 meters?

    Can Police Officers drive a Yamaha R1 street bike instead of a Harley?

    • @MeatyPetey
      @MeatyPetey  8 років тому +2

      +Dennis Linchevskiy It's usually up to each individual department as to which Motor their officers will use. In the North East HD is typically the bike of choice.

      +Meaty Petey Hi, I'm from Yonkers too so I was wondering if this or something similar is available to civilians? The msf course isn't the most comprehensive

    • @MeatyPetey
      @MeatyPetey  8 років тому

      Hey Jith, Unfortunately I am unaware of anything in the area available to civilians. It's a question asked a lot and if I find out anything I will make sure and let you know.

      Ok, thanks a lot. If there was training in another town or something, I would be willing travel.

      There is a flat track school that I was going to give a shot sometime next spring. It's done all on dirt tracks and teaches you how to slide the Motorcycle out. Nearest the come is Delaware I believe. Different then what we do but would definitely improve your skills.

    What model are they on?

    • @ntucker5000
      @ntucker5000 8 років тому +1

      Road King or Electra Glide Police Edition. Difference is the Fairing.

    • @RobertPaulDoran
      @RobertPaulDoran 8 років тому

      cool, thanks. Thinking I might look into a used one. I have a 2002 Softail Standard with 88B motor and 5 spd. A 6 speed would be nice.

    Я всетаки непойму никогда преимущество харлея над тойже BMW gs 800 или другими подобными мотоциклами.

    • @АлексейКолесников-ч1е
      @АлексейКолесников-ч1е 8 років тому

      Для американцев главное преимущество состоит в том, что харлей - американский мотоцикл. Запчасти в наличии, сервис свой, деньги за заказ мотоциклов для служащих уходят в собственную экономику, а не в немецкую.

    Why do they use those motorcycles for the police?
    It´s pretty obvious that any adventure bike would be more fitting for the police.
    Well i guess only in MURICA

    • @MortSakhalin
      @MortSakhalin 7 років тому

      I suppose because:
      - they're powerfull enough;
      - they have saddlebags;
      - any electronic can be installed on them;
      - etc.

    Why would you use big heavy choppers as police bikes? Just doesn't make sense.

    • @D_in_DC
      @D_in_DC 9 років тому +1

      +thotc1 These motorcycles are not choppers.

      +1djFlashboogie they are still Harleys. Terrible choice for a police bike. No speed, terrible turning, expensive. They should really switch to a 600 cbr or Yamaha or something.

    • @D_in_DC
      @D_in_DC 9 років тому

      L33T Lagger You don't know what you're talking about. Harleys are actually very maneuverable. You've obviously never ridden one.

    • @jeremyjohnson2852
      @jeremyjohnson2852 8 років тому

      Lol, no they are not maneuverable compared to any good sport touring bike, maybe compared to a car. the only good thing is that they hold their massive weight low, but still they are limited by lean angle, too many hard parts drag. A sport tourer or adventure style bike could outperform the harley in any category

    • @D_in_DC
      @D_in_DC 8 років тому

      Jeremy Johnson I didn't compare the maneuverability of a Harley to another motorcycle. Harleys have advantages in certain areas that sport touring bikes don't. For example, and this is just one example so don't crucify me, in the mid-atlantic, many police departments ride in up to one inch of snow during winter. Harleys allow them to attach side cars for stability. Say what you want about Harleys, but they have their place, just like SUV's, they're a choice.

    Compared to other schools horrible IMO. out dated slow and non efficient bikes to start. They really need to get with the times with newer bikes that can do ALOT more then what we saw here.

      And you get paid to do this ? I didn’t think so.
