Ken dude I loved that table it broke the ice I got a sick 1978 Munson 6.5 and a 1975 Rod Carew both perfectly centered 😜. That was so fun. Ok let me keep watching 🤙🤙
Did you finish the 1978 Topps HoF run? I don't know if it is my favorite set, but it has a lot of nostalgia for me. Thanks for stopping by John, your acquisition of these cards inspired me.
I have this complete set in great condition. If you're interested, let me know. I also have the complete 79, 82 and 85 sets as well. Would be willing to make a deal if you're interested.
Man needs a project right? Some really nice slabs of some amazing players from our younger days Like that image of Winfield! Hope youre enjoying the Matthews show lately...doing something nobodys done since Gretzky! 70 here we come!
Do you need a project? You rip so many packs! Do you keep your cards pretty organized? Matthews is having an amazing season. Back to back hatties! Glad I have him on one of my fantasy teams. He’s a scoring machine! Thanks for watching Michael and Uki. Have a great week!
Ken, 1978 Topps has shot way up on my 1970s cards to collect. Never thought too much of them but I noticed, especially the backs of the cards, standing out. I still think the '78 Murray rookie is one of the more appealing looking rookie cards of that decade. Thanks for sharing!
Whoa, does that mean that I am going to have to compete with you when bidding on 78 Topps cards on eBay? The Murray is one of my favorite cards of the 70's too. Thanks for watching Sammy.
I love the 78 set and they look great in the SGC tuxedo slab. 78 was the oldest cards I had in my childhood collection. The Reggie base card is one of my all time favorites. The Eddie Murray rookie was one of my first purchases when I jumped back into the hobby. Great cards Ken. Go Avs 👊⚾
Great stuff Ken. Those look good in the SGC slab. I agree on the Murray. I have always liked that card. I have one but not graded. One of these days I will pick one up. The Winfield is a great image too. $40 for those three card is a great deal. See you in the chat my friend. 👊⚾️
It’s pretty easy to get these cards ungraded, so having fun collecting them in SGC tuxes. Some will be hard to find as they don’t pop up online that often. I might have to get some ungraded and send them in. Thanks for stopping by Greg. Have a great week my friend. 👊🏻⚾️
Hi Ken, I hear you on the Super Bowl. I didn't have a rooting interest either. I would've liked to have seen the 49ers win because of McCaffrey and Purdy, but it is hard to cheer for them as a Cowboys fan. I like the idea of you acquiring cards from the first year you opened packs. The type of project that is going to take you back to your childhood with each card you acquire. You some beautiful cards. Thanks for sharing.
These definitely bring back a lot of memories when i get them. Making collecting fun. I have been down on baseball cards for about a year near and been focusing on hockey cards. I'm a big McCaffrey fan and wanted a win for him. I have met him once and his father when Christian was in high school. They were in line behind me at the airport checking their bags. Thanks for watching Terry.
Love the Rose and Brett cards. I remember those days of getting packs after school. Didn’t really get into myself until I was in Little League. Even then I wasn’t too serious but I loved the gum!
I used to get cards after baseball games as well. There was an ice cream truck parked at the park and would always get a Bomb Pop and a pack of cards. Good times! Thanks for stopping by Saul, have a great week my friend.
78 Set has some really nice images. The Eddie Murray is an awesome RC. Ichiro and Kaline had to have the best Rookie Seasons in my opinion. Thanks for sharing with us Ken.
Enjoyed hearing you talk about buying cards and candy, Ken. It brought me back to my youth when I did the same thing. Great looking cards in some nice grades! Love the Murray rookie. He had a great rookie season and I’d have to agree that Ichiro probably had the best rookie season ever. I used to think Fred Lynn did growing up as a Sox fan.
Well Lynn may have the best true rookie season, as Ichiro was already a pro over in Japan. He kind of had an advantage. When I get one of these cards, every time it floods back the memories of me buying cards as a kid. Thanks for watching Hugo. Have a great week!
Such a great set and these are all some sweet examples! That Dave Winfield is a fantastic image and I really love the Brett too and of course the Murray is iconic. Outstanding run so far and Godspeed on snagging some more. 👊🏻⚾️
Taking my time. I might have to buy some ungraded cards of some of the lesser popular players and grade myself. Many don’t show up on EBay. Always a risk it will get less than a 7, but could also get a 9! 😆There is a good mix of portrait and action shots in the 78 Topps set. Thanks for watching David! 💪🏻⚾️
Those were some great pickups! All of the slabs in the tuxedo look really sharp! Good luck with completing the cards you are looking for Ken and keep on rocking!
Glad to see the National pickups again! ‘78 is a really nice set with tons of hall of fame players and stars. I love the all star badge. Looking forward to seeing more additions to this project Ken!
Ah, you remember my National recap video. The all-star badge is a nice touch the card design. I am having fun collecting these cards from 78. Thanks for stopping by Joe.
Very true Rick. I will definitely be showing these again as I make progress. Plus, there are always new people watching. Not many people go back and watch the older videos. Thanks for stopping by.
Do you love 1978 Topps baseball too? This is a fun little project for me. I think I will need to grade some of the players on my own. I haven’t seen all of them listed online. Just need to be patient, no rush as the process is just as fun as the curation. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching Mark. Here are my responses to your questions. 1. I did put my cards in shoeboxes for the first couple of years, did not use rubber bands. I went to a card shop and bought a binder and some 9-pocket plastic sheets to store my cards. I still kept the duplicates in a shoebox. 2. I definitely had a Greg Nettles card in 197I 9. 3. I would say that I liked Winfield in a Padres uniform best 4. I have all of these players in 1979 and 1980 cards, but none in the 1978 Topps except for Ted Simmons and Ken Singleton 5. I did get to watch one hockey game the stadium series with the Islanders vs. Rangers. That was a fun game to watch the Rangers come back and win.

Great stories, Ken. Fun to re-live fond memories. Cards can bring you back in a flash. George Foster had some great years with the Big Red Machine especially that epic '77 season. (P.S. The Say Hey Kid had 52 HR in 1965). Love the Eddie Murray RC. Thanks for showing us some fantastic cards.
I was thinking that someone hit more than 50 HR since Roger Maris did in 61. Mays was pretty good. Still, it was 12 years between 50 HR season. One of the things I love most about collecting cards is connecting to real experience in sports. Thanks for stopping by Rob.
Really sharp looking all framed up in those SGC holders. Have always liked that Eddie Murray rookie cup card in that set. Forgot how cool that Winfield looks.
I was thinking the same thing seeing all the cards framed in the SGC tux. It’s easy to find these cards ungraded. What is the fun of that. Winfield looks like a bad ass in that image. Thanks for watching Brian.
These cards would be easy to collect ungraded, more of a challenge to get them in SGC tuxedo in a 7 or higher. Likely to be a multi year project. Thanks for watching Mike.
That Murray is 🍒🍒🍒🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Pretty good for a 7 eh! I learned from a surfer that good eye appeal is a nicely centered card. Thanks for watching brah! 🤙🏻🤙🏻

It was a fun day at the show and good to break the ice with a nice purchase!
I've heard you like candy. 😂 Looks like a fun project. Good luck, Ken!
I started young. It must have been the gum in the packs. I chewed it all. I would take one piece then 10 minutes later another. 😂
My favorite set! 😃 Those were the first packs of cards I bought as well. Great examples you have! Looking forward to watching your progress.
