I always loved the Berserkers. The weapon being the one that's in control has such interesting implications for when Sora uses it and especially for Saix.
Oh absolutely!! I wonder how much influence it has over Sora? And for Saix, there's probably a ton of neat things going on in his animations that show the dynamic btwn him and his weapon.
What I've always imagined is that Sora takes on the curse,(the red and black glow around his head) but is strong willed enough to fight the hammer itself. We can see Sora has his whole arm over the top of the hammer and since they're both floating, he must be either keeping it from flinging him around or from returning to the berserker until he's ready to use it. And it is Sora swinging it in the end.
@@timewizard98yeah this is my canon theory too 😊
@@timewizard98makes sense. The thing Sora has over nearly everyone else is the strength his heart has from bonds
Jesus Christ the sovereign God loves you 😊 I hope you can have a wonderful relationship with the Holy Trinity who miraculously healed me of my chronic breathing issues that plagued me for years on a near nightly basis if not every single night
God did this healing instantaneously within a group anointed prayer over my health, doing what nothing else would for years
You can say about Nomura what you want but He has some great Design Philosophies, the Nobodys are really Unique Enemies
The fact that a number of them are designed specifically after FF jobs (Dragoon, Berserker, Samurai, etc.) adds to the coolness factor for those who came for the FF side of the series too
im pretty sure people criticise Nomura only for the confusing jumbled mess that is the KH plot ... other aspects however he deserves praise..
@@schikey2076 and the thing is, he isn’t even the only writer, there are others that either add to it or reign it in, different ideas being tossed about and such.
@@schikey2076 not confusing and jumbled just a lot to take in
@@AsadKhan-ic9qi 1000% confusing, CONFUSED, and jumbled mess.
I really like how in the few moments where it spawns, and after having the hammer removed via a finisher for a couple seconds, you can see the berserker being able to stand up normally. But as soon as the hammer teleports to its hand, it immediately flops down.
Dang! Now I understand why when Sora grabs the weapon it looks like Sora was trying to control it wile not trying to be controlled by it hence the red aura effect on Sora’s head and the way he moves around with it. That’s so cool!
That's a good observation.
You're right, Berserk is about trading control for raw power. So this design is pretty unique.
I never realized it actually shrinks and then holds onto the hammer during that attack. I always thought the hammer became possessed by the Nobody
HAMMER? YOU GOT ME FKD UP THATS A WHOLE ASS SWAT TEAM 😭😭
The enemies in Kingdom Hearts series have such deep lore and meaning I played this game when I was a kid and I never knew this I always thought maybe it was just lazy.
Yeah, I felt the same as a kid! Seeing all the cool details now is a lot of fun!
I had no idea that the Hammer was really in charge.
One thing I realized is that there are at least 13 nobodies that actually represent organization XIII and their reaction commands actually subtlety teach you how to fight those organization members!
Yep 😊
another cool detail about the "cursed hammer" if sora grabs it, an effect appears on sora's head like it's trying to control him and the hammer shakes violently and the berserker's body just drags toward Sora.
that's the "berserk" status effect itself. it gives targets a red glow in FF games usually. i never put that together til just now but the hammer must be inflicting Berserk on Sora, and yet Sora's still barely able to resist and move around a little. that's gotta take some freakish willpower. absolute legend
Honestly this was SUCH a great idea for showing the job class the Nobody is based on while also giving it animations that absolutely no other Beserker in another game has ever had. like, with a fair few of the Nobodies you can't really tell what job class they are until someone tells you. But this guy IMMEDIATELY communicates Berserker despite doing nothing Berserkery! It's a triumph of storytelling entirely through animation!
Honestly it woulda been neat to see other takes on this concept, portraying a typical RPG role through some visual metaphor instead of what you'd usually expect.
Like how you could say a beserker is "controlled by their sword" and here you have it literally, I wonder what other literalized metaphors could work for other classes?
All that comes to mind is maybe something "casting spells" literally, like baseball pitching fireballs or throwing out a fishing line with a comical icon of the spell on the end of it. Like, it does purely non-magical physical damage by bonking you on the head with it, lol!
Well, I mean.
Snipers are pretty obviously snipers.
And dragoons looking like dragons makes the mental connection pretty easy.
So berserkers certainly aren't the only one to click quickly
@@greyrifterrellik5837 Plus Dragoons have the whole "Jump" mechanic that the class is known for.
I never knew that the Berserker shrunk down. I always thought it phased into the hammer, I also thought the hammer was a sword.
His is a Hammer, but Saix uses a "Sword", specifically, it is called a Claymore in the games (despite looking more like a funky axe"
It was interesting to see the Berserker spawn in. It stood upright and stretched like it just awoken. Then the hammer flies into its hand and starts controlling the Nobody. I also love how the hammer whips the Nobody around as if it were a weapon itself
I always felt bad for this enemy as a kid, it literally looks like it doesn’t want to do any of those attacks, but the hammer is making it attack whether it likes it or not 😩
For enemies supposed to be empty husks, the nobodies sure have a lot of personality
i haven't played kh2 in years but seeing that god damn stun lock attack just gave me ptsd flashbacks from my first playthrough
RIP Kentaro Miura 😢😢😢
That's crazy, he doesn't swing the hammer, the hammer literally swings him.
"May all your hearts be your guiding key." 🗝
I think we found out what Guts' nobody would look like
Don't forget on critical mode these guys are absolute bastards to deal with
I never encountered this interview before because I've only played Kingdom Hearts for the GBA and the recent one that came out a little while ago 🤔 it's Unique all right I've never seen a spine bent that way
I noticed how when you fight armored Xemnas the first time. He actually has Saïx, Axel and Xaldin’s weapons
He also has Demyx's weapon, it's a bit rare, but AX will summon around one or two Water Clones in the fight.
He has all the Organization weapons except for Roxas and the members that died before KH2. At first he only uses a couple weapons but adds more and more to his moveset the less HP he has
aka the hockey player nobody 😂
holy heck. i mean i'd kinda known this but never really KNOWN until you laid it all out like this. the hammer's the one doing literally All the work including using the berserker's whole body for its main attack lmfao. a genuine example of "i'll hit a motherfucker with another motherfucker".
(small arguable correction tho, i think it's more accurate to say Berserker is named after the Berserker Job rather than just the ability itself since the nobodies/org members are mostly all based on FF jobs. but we all knew that i'm just nitpicking lmao)
something else that just occurred to me from reading other comments here: in FF games, characters/enemies usually glow red when they have the Berserk status effect, like they're fired up and all full of rage. so in this case with the way sora's head starts glowing red and smoking, it must actually be the hammer itself inflicting Berserk on him, since Berserk makes a target unable to do anything but powerful physical attacks.
(in fact i think there are some weapons in FF games that inflict berserk on the wielder just by wielding them. it'd be so sick if that came with unique animations where the weapon moved by itself and using the wielder's body as a club same as this lmao)
now i think about it, the fact that you can still move sora around at all must be taking some Incredible willpower to resist on his part. what a guy
Didn’t know about this at all thank you.
I’m pretty sure that’s a hammer sword. I mean the weapon has more of a two handed sword like design with the hammer part on the top. It’s similar to Lexaeus’ axe sword in how it’s both a blunt weapon and a sword at the same time.
Noossa!! I never noticed he becomes small! I though he just enters the hammer!!
So cool!
Earned you a sub, cool as hell!
I never knew this!
The bane of my critical runs!!!
those guys are really tough
I detest this enemy.
I LOVE this. Please. More like this. PLEASE
Definitely will make more! I'm really glad to hear people are enjoying this. Thank you! :D
1:56 stop that

I am dumb I connected the dots with berserk in final fantasy
