Nice demo, I really like the switching back and forth between each amp as you change the knobs, etc. I prefer the newer Multi-watt version personally. It just sounds more alive to me.
i was gonna try to message you about what you would take if money wasn't a factor. im glad i checked your videos before making a fool of myself. thank you for making this one.
I used to have a Reborn 3-Channel triple rec, now I have a 1997 Rev-G and I must say, the Reborn absolutely sucked next to it, it was so congested and boomy. The Rev-G I have now is a lot brighter, it does have a certain hollowness in the mids but I feel like that’s what makes the true Rectifier tone: massive and brutal but with that sort of evil low growl, not a spiky amp, more grindy if anything. I recently recorded a live pre-prod just my amp with rehearsal / live settings, into a mic’d oversized mesa recto cab with v30 speakers, it sounded absolutely massive, a lot different than on this video (I boost mine with a « gain at zero » distortion pedal.
thank you for having your guitar in tune. seen many vids on other yt channels when the open chords are painfully off. I like the multi watt more as the 2 channel sounds like my 6505 and would rather a different tone
Out of all the Rectifiers that I've owned, my Rev G Triple Rec is the one I keep. Anytime I consider parting with I just plug in and remember why I keep it.
In the Rectifier world, I always prefer the Tremoverb. I'm not sure why, but I'd never part with mine. Rev F triple would be my second choice. Something about the Tremoverb. Nice video.
I feel like these comparisons blow apart some of the bs that surrounds the Rev G Mesa amps and how much more "magical" they are. They sound really similar to me.
@@artvandelay2111 This is true. One time I tuned into the middle of a Tone Wars livestream where he was comparing a bunch of amps. There was a Friedman off to his right and I typed in "Man this Friedman is sounding killer". Turns out it was a Mesa JP2C that was off screen. Guilty as charged lol.
I’ve owned both, they do sound similar but different. There’s no “better” but they both have their own sound so if you like the Rev G sound then that’s the one you want.
If you had a 2000 - 2009 3-channel Recto, I think the comparison would be more apart. The 2010 multi-watt seems to be tuned closer to the older 2-channel ones.
Wow for real? That's terrible news indeed. The Chain Reaction was a legendary venue for hardcore and metal. Glad I got to go to a show there when I was stationed in California. One of the sickest shows and venues I've ever been to!
@@belligerentamateur Probably a sad, jealous poseur who can’t afford sick Mesa Dual Rec amps & can’t play anything too loud in their parents’ basement. Human emotional states can be fragile, f’d up and complicated.
Hi Kyle, outstanding videos. I have a question and a request. I see that you use the Radial Engineering Headbone VT Tube Amp Head Switcher and I was wondering if you can compare it to the Mesa Boogie Head-Track Head and FX Loop Switcher. Can you tell me your opinion on the Tonebone? Thanks man.
Do you think two versions of multiwatt sounds very different? The “vintage” version has one switch to choose raw, vintage or modern mode, the last version has two switch (add one to choose watts). I think the last one sounds better. Sorry, my English is not perfect.
I don’t miss my dual rec it was a 3 channel non multi watt! It was not agressive at all. My palm muting was so flubby even with the bass at 0 mids 5.5 and treble 5 presence was always at like 6.5-7. Goes to show me that all Mesa amps ain’t the same.
When I plugged my amp into a power conditioner, it all stopped. I run a noise gate in 4 cable method and a power conditioner and she’s so quiet she’ll give you a heart attack if you touch a string (because it doesn’t sound on till you play).
Must be sad to be a guitar player where 95 percent of your playing is power chords, fourths, fifths, the occasional octave, and of course, pig squeals. Such a limited point of view of such a versatile instrument.
They both sound killer to me but I think I like the multi a little better my self ..
Both amps are absolutely killer! Great comparison and demo man!
My multi watt is definitely the best sounding and feeling high gain amp I have. The cleans are good as well.

Great demo Man! Thanks! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
I’ve always wanted a video like this one. Simple and straightforward 👍🤘
Hope it helped!
That Rev G sounds so good. They get reasonably close but that G sounds more aggressive and open.
I think it does sound a little more open as well

I miss my MW man thanks for reminding me how killer it was 🤣
Boogie seems to fix bugs with each revision, but some people consider bugs to be features

Great Vid glad I got the EVH though.
Multi watt for sure. The fx loop is next level as are the cleans.

I think what you're failing to realise is that most guitarists listen with their eyes.... and not their ears.

Great video
This is a great video
Your playing makes me wish I was at a show.
I heard the chain reaction in Anaheim is gone forever
I remember that spot from YEARSSS AGO! Did they close out due to Covie? Newsom needs to GO! Cheers from AZ
@@jayteesgear that's what I heard, I believe exodus played and got banned haha

What troll down voted someone taking their time and effort to produce a quality video for other people's benefit?
Someone who doesn't like amps, I guess. Lol

Love my Rev G.
It's just so quintesential Recto.
I plug my LPs a wah, od, then into it and instantly channel my inner Bobby Hambel.

I definitely prefer the multiwatt.. with the option of dropping it to half power, the breakup would happen a bit sooner.
I think this MW demo KILLS the Badlander! I gotta play one in person but the MW is takin the cake from online demos I’ve seen
MW for the win if not using a boost. Both sound great with a boost though. 👍🏼
Fully agree! (And ai usually like older Recs) - That multi sounds GREAT!

From everything I've read The original 3 channels are the worst
I actually prefer the multi in this one.
Close but I like that the Rev G has less fizz.
3 channel multi-watt all the way.
Would love to see a shootout between these 2 amps plus a triple rec
If you remember, could you post your eq settings for the Rev G red channel? Thanks!
I like your settings what do u normally set the multi watt to
Man, r u the one buying up all the amps on Reverb?
The Multiwatt definitely has more fizz “hi-fi”like sound with an upper mid spike. The Rev G sounds a little rounder, rawer, and
more organic sounding.
Were/are you in the service...of kick in’ ASS?
These have the loud popping thing when using the footswitch? It's what keeps me away form mesa
Honestly I don't know as I never use it. Sorry man!
When I plugged my amp into a power conditioner, it all stopped. I run a noise gate in 4 cable method and a power conditioner and she’s so quiet she’ll give you a heart attack if you touch a string (because it doesn’t sound on till you play).
…plus if you’re switching from clean to gain, you wouldn’t notice it anyway.
MultiWatt wins for me!
Isn't the Presence knob on the 3 channel actually a Hi-Cut?
On the red channel of the 2 channel too, but the presence is boosted from the loss of negative feedback so it kinda works out the same.
Why did I flip my MW? Why ?
I had a 3 channel "solo head" and wasn't impressed. Sold it and bought a Mark IV
Those ones have been my least favorite by a wide margin of the Rectifier series
multi all the way after the intro playing!
Rev G is what’s up but the multi-way sounds great too. Break stuff by limp bizkit = rev G = amazing tone.
Was the middle gold pedal engaged in the signal path all this time?
Nope! The blue light is always on when it's powered, even if bypassed.
@@belligerentamateur sounded great man, after many rectos I settled down on the MW 👍🏼
Do u prefer the Engl cab over the Mesa?
no sir
Yes I just got u to 30 comments
That Rev G looks VERY familiar...LOL
👍
Shit now it’s 30
Multiwatt definitely better
Multiwat is shinier.
MW won
Multi is crispier
An ENGL cab? k...
