Ok so I love them all but I'd say 1,3,4,2 in my favourites but you have to watch them in order. I prefer 3 over 1 but without it, it wouldnt be
Next time Lethal Weapon 2, 3 and 4
Mary that 15:13 is actually not true.
Where did you get that information from by the way. The local Karen at your local antifa meeting?
Or maybe CNN ?
4, 1, 3, 2 is my preferred order. The wrap-up in the 4th including ending credits puts it over the top, and 1 and 3 are merely separated by the origin story. I didn't care for the plot line of #2 and some of the action is a bit further out there than normal action unreliability.
Mary, the entire series (1-4) tell a great overall story! I really hope you watch them all! You won't be disappointed.
The 5th movie, to be directed by Gibson, has been delayed but is still meant to move forward. (It was supposed to start filming early this year.)
I agree, just don't bother with the horrible TV version, which I think died the quick death it deserved.
@@maximillianosabenDidn't know there was going to be a 5th!!🎉
Agreed, LW2 is probably the best tho.
Danny Glover best movie are imo: The Lethal Weapon franchise, The Color Purple, ( very unlikable character but well portrayed)and Predator 2
That first dinner with Roger’s family is often under appreciated for just how important it is in Riggs’ recovery. That’s probably the first real laughter he’s had since Victoria’s death.
That's a very good point actually. Being around such a welcoming family, friendly people in general, was definitely something Riggs needed.
That ending scene when they shot him at the same time solidified their partnership to me. Then Roger says "i gotcha partner." Roger was on his way out feeling old and here comes Martin with the young gunslinger attitude. It kept Roger in the game for yrs to come. One of the greatest movies of all time.
OG Buddy cop movie, always imitated never duplicated. The chemistry between Gibson and Glover is pure magic.
Rush Hour doesnt exist?
@@Xgendude14 Pretty sure this movie has a good decade on Rush Hour.
@@vincentdawn9689 Don't forget 48 Hours!
@@gregsteele806 Eddie Murphy wasnt a cop in 48 Hours. Its a buddy movie, but not a Buddy Cop movie.
@@vincentdawn9689 And if we are just talking Buddy movies, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid came out before all those.
Even the characters’ names have hidden meanings. Martin comes from “martial” meaning “for war” or “warrior”. “Murtaugh” is an old Gaelic word for a navigator. In this movie, their names refer to the roles they fulfilled for each other. Roger Murtaugh needed a warrior to help him save his daughter. Martin Riggs needed a navigator to help him work through a difficult time. The two main characters literally saved each others’ lives by being their best selves.
Never knew that.
About the names' deeper meanings.
That's cool.
I didn't know that either, that's cool.
Very cool trivia…. Danny and Mel just have great chemistry and play off each other so well.
Well, there’s a mind grenade if I’ve ever seen one
That's lovely.🙏But who goes there? 🤔
Fun Fact: The man wanting to jump off the building was actually Mic Rodgers, Mel Gibson’s stunt double, and if you look closely, as they jump, the handcuffs break and they hold hands.
Obviously for safety reasons it wouldn't be a good idea to be handcuffed during a fall because they could break or dislocate their arms.
Mel was doing his stunts
Wow ! And a good supporting actor too.
This is one of those rare franchises where the sequels are as good as the first one.
If not better!!2 is actually my favorite!!
@@BillKrayer12thMan Same, my favorite too.
@@jdnaz1288 Too much drama in the second one
@@BillKrayer12thMan Mine too! The addition of Leo Getz was brilliant. His tirade about the drive-through gets me every time. 😂😂😂
@@cyberingcatgirls7069 they Fuck you at the drive-thru XD
Glad you are kicking off Lethal Weapon! 1000% watch the rest. Your in for a good series. The second film is so my favorite. But all of them are fantastic.
Jazzy saxophone and the guitar riffs are character themes for Roger and Martin... As the 2 characters start to become a team, the themes also become more harmonious.
My favorite movie series of all time. They're actually all great. Not a clunker amongst them.
The golden standard of the Buddy Cop genre. My personal theory is Die Hard and Lethal Weapon not only same universe but takes place same time in different precincts
Never thought of that!! You know that would have been an amazing crossover!! Still not impossible!!
Not the same universe. In Die Hard 2 there is a scene on a plane when old lady is holding a magazine and you can see Lethal Weapon 2 movie poster.
That'd be cool. How would things have gone if Riggs & Murtaugh showed up at Nakatomi plaza?? 😆
@@garmisra7841 "Die Hard with Lethal Weapon"
@@BillKrayer12thMan Sadly it is pretty much impossible. With bruce Willis's declining health I dont think we will see him in any big movies again.
This movie showed a "cell phone" for the first time and they had to film it on an overpass because it was the only place they could get an analog signal. Gary Busey was an awesome actor. It's so tragic that he got into a motorcycle crash and was never the same after that. The entire series is worth a watch and they're just as great as the first! And YES, it is a Christmas movie! I watch it every year during the holidays!
no this movie didn't wall street had the first cell phone in it
You MUST watch the sequels, they are all, every single one, great and continue the story beautifully. This franchise is more about love, family and friendship more than anything, and watching it develop and bloom is wonderful, so please watch all four! You’ll definitely love them.
Lethal weapon is that rare movie where everything is paced perfectly. Riggs and Murtough is just the best buddy cop duo of all time , just magic
Richard Donner also directed The Goonies and Scrooged. The man has range.
His only weak point was background character dialogue.
Don't forget the first Superman movie.
A wonderful example of an 80s action movie! SO good!
Over the top and pulls at the heartstrings.
I'm actually Law Enforcement, and we crack up over how they never do any paperwork, for all the hijinks they get into.
Also, they would never put a guy who's close to retiring, with someone who's known to be crazy.
These are a great series of movies, as others have said. They tell a great story. And I love how Mary goes from "I don't like the sound of guns" to "YES! YES! YES!" by the time the action really cranks up. Back in the 80's and early 90's, they really knew how to craft enjoyable action films, especially in the buddy cop genre.
Unpopular opinion but I love them all equally. They’re all very similar yet distinctly different. It’s hard to explain
I don't know, the 3rd and 4th movies almost became slapstick comedies.
@@molasorrosalom48463rd and 4th was still good
Wow! That colour looks good on you, Mary. I'm glad you're discovering this classic.😀
Yeah! I’m no expert , but the multi shade and highlights look great and super professionally done.
"Lethal Weapon 2" is the one where they really figured it out, but a character shows up in 3 that makes that one at least equal. 🥰 Seemed like they focused more on giving the expanding cast of regulars stuff to do rather than on brilliant cop plots, and that was probably a good idea.
Keep watching them all because it gets better and funnier each time, all 4 films absolutely fantastic 😊
The beginning of arguably the greatest action (or action/comedy) franchise in Cinematic History. Great reaction as always, Mary. Hope you continue the series, the next two are even better (and way funnier) and the fourth is really good as well. 👍✌❤
Very classic
Putting Martin and Roger together as partners, when they did, actually saved both of their lives. Roger wouldn't of been able to handle everything that happened by himself and having Roger as a partner and now friend is exactly what Martin needed to help him deal with the loss of his wife and give him purpose and a sense of belonging and family. The 4 Lethal Weapon movies do tell a great overall story. I love these movies. If you like Mel Gibson and want another movie with him in it then I would like to suggest watching "Maverick" which came out in 1994. It's a movie that I really enjoyed and had me laughing at times.
I've always thought Mel Gibson was a phenomenal actor. He can go from hilarious to crazy to breaking your heart to bada** all in the same movie and every bit of it is believable.
Mel Gidson is a top teir artist. Wether its his acting, writing or directing.
As person however, well thats different story, but i do think he improved himself since all that came out.
@@shadowphoenix1696 People judging him as a person that don't even know him is hilarious to me.
After you watch LW 2, I’d recommend the spoof movie “Loaded Weapon 1” w/ Samuel Jackson and Emilio Estevez.
I'm glad you enjoyed this! I hope you stick with it and watch the rest of them. It's been so long since I've seen them, I'd definitely watch along with you.
All four film are great!
Agreed, although I think 2 is the best
@@DGA_Kenyonheeeey another 2 is better brother. I always thought this
We get Pesci!
I like the 2nd one with Pesci
Mary, the chief of police was the cop in Superman who went after his partner in the subway tunnel. He’s related to Richard Donner.
The entire series is great and it's hard to pick a favourite, esp. because in every movie they add something new into the mix that just fits in perfectly.
you just have to watch the rest to see how the story grows , this is a great series of movies , the chemistry between the whole cast is Fantastic ..
This whole series is great. Can't wait for you to see all 4 movies. Great story arc altogether, enjoy.
your wife being a good cook is something a man would be proud of and want to share and impress upon peers and colleagues
But how about Mary agreeing with the kid at 15:13
Where did she get that information from I'm wondering. BuzzFeed or is it MSNBC.
What Moe Run channel does Mary watch I'm wondering.
My kind of Christmas movie, the funny thing is that about this and Die Hard being Christmas movies, Mel was originally wanted as John McLain and Bruce was originally wanted as Martin Riggs. but for whatever reason that didn't happen. Great reaction and I love what you did with your hair
The chemistry between the two main characters is SO awesome. Then all the side-characters... Murtaugh's family... The guys at the police station... All SO GOOD. Gotta watch all 4 movies now. lol
One of the best aspects of the Lethal Weapon movies is watching the characters grow and develop over the years. The family scenes are sometimes more enjoyable than the main action plot.
Please watch the entire series, you grow to love the relationships along with the characters! :)

Mary, keep watching these. You won't be disappointed.
Oh man forgot that Clapton guitar was in this movie. Good memories.
LOL, Mary singing the incidental action music is hilarious.
Great Reaction Mary Cherry!
This one few movies that actually get better! Lethal Weapon set the bar! Lethal Weapon 2 raised the bar Lethal Weapon 3 set the bar! As for Lethal Weapon 4 I’ll leave that up to you! Fun fact! In 1987 I lived in Austin, Texas and I walked into a Sound Warehouse and alarms went off I was the 1000 customer and won a Lethal Weapon 3 tee shirt and tickets t the movie and Pink Floyd concert tickets in San Antonio, Texas! I couldn’t make so I gave them to Best Friend and his wife! They had a blast!
My favorite was Lethal Weapon 3! Marry 🍒!🙏🏻
One of the best film series ever made, and perhaps one of the most under rated.
The first one, has what I think is one of the best lines which doesn't come from one of the main stars but a co star:
Do you want to know what I did last night? I cried in bed. Were you with a woman? No, why do you think I was crying?
A classic from my childhood to teenhood this movie series…enjoy! Got my nephews into it last year 😊
Love this series. I am excited you have started watching it. You’re in for a ride.
My family & I watch this every Christmas. I love each movie, but this first one has got re-watched the most.
Mary in the directors cut of lethal weapon it's shows Martin Riggs taken out a sniper when he's gone he was shooting upwards through a window and 30 m away and empty the clip into the sniper then SWAT After it was all over it worth looking at
One of the best Lethal reactions!
I saw this in theatre as a kid. Its easily one of my all time fave movies. So its kinda weird when I come across someone whos never seen it. Glad you liked it.
The late Richard Donner (RIP) directed Mel Gibson in six movies….four of them were the Lethal Weapon film series. The others were Maverick (1994), with Jodie Foster and James Garner, and Conspiracy Theory (1997), with Julia Roberts and Sir Patrick Stewart.
Prior to his death, Donner developed the screenplay for a 5th Lethal Weapon film; and he asked Mel “if I ‘kick the bucket’, will you step up and direct the film?” Mel just shrugged it off.
After his passing, Mel announced that indeed Lethal Weapon 5 is in production; with a 2025 release date.
I love Maverick. That’s definitely one Mary should watch
Why that late ?
One of the best films of the time, an absolute classic.
This is a goddamn classic. Great characters, good action with comedy and that saxophone 🎷And as usual Mel Gibson is tremendous in this.
Fantastic action movie, and in no small part due to the great characters and excellent dialogue.
This is the pinnacle of 80-90 action genre. Not just because the movies are fantastic, but because you get to see all the characters grow so much over the course of the series. I hope you watch the rest!
Martin meeting the Murtaugh family gives him hope, life, people who give him a place to be. It's a bit of a glimpse of where he was going to go. He needs them.
Riggs had no friends
They are all very good, but part 1 has a soft spot in my heart.
Lethal Weapon is a Christmas Movie!!!
There are additional scenes in the Director's cut that give more to Riggs's mindset at the beginning of the movie.......
- Mel Gibson (Riggs) Mel plays this role in 4 movies, He plays Max Max in 3 movies, Plays other Great Characters Benjamin Martin in "The Patriot", William Wallace in "Braveheart",
- Danny Glover (Roger Murtaugh) starts the Movie series at age 41 playing a 50 year old cop, Played in "The Color Purple"
- Gary Busey (Mr Joshua) Also played in "Point Break",
- Al Leong (Endo) Also played the Gunman that "Stole" the candybar in Die Hard,
- Mary Ellen Trainor (Phyciatrist) Played Newscaster in Die Hard
Spoiler Alert: Only Lethal Weapon 1 happens at Christmas....... So can watch the others at any time....
Both Gibson and Glover are snubbed for Oscars
I have a lot of fondness for the "Lethal Weapon" franchise movies. My dad and I saw them all in the theater.
The whole series 1-4 are great! :D
Classic buddy movie! Rocky friendship to start but by the end they are best friends. Great reaction MC ❤
love that Roger is Saxophone and Martin is Electric guitar
Back in the 90's they only had two instruments Sax or Electric Guitar.
So good mixed
Lethal Weapon is one of the few franchises were every single installment is great. There isn’t a bad movie in the bunch. You’re going to have a lot of fun with it.
One of the best action thrillers of all time. No discussion. 🤗
Sidenote: The quote "I'm too old for this s#$t!" is indeed from this movie!
The saxophone in the score represents Murtaugh and is played by jazz saxophonist David Sanborn. The bluesy guitar represents Riggs and is played by rock legend Eric Clapton. The overall score is by the late Michael Kamen. All three continue to score the three remaining films.
These movies are amazing! Keep going with the series...the cast, director, and many others continue and grow the franchise beautifully.
A good mix
Hope you will watch all 4 of the series. They are all definitely worth it.
Don't forget all four have directors cut worth the watch
Watch all four and enjoy. This franchise is a treasure. All four are enjoyable.
This is me and my grandfather’s movie and I tear up every time I watch it…he passed in 2011
it's amazing that ive seen you cry in many reaction videos, but the one scene in a movie that makes me cry even if i think about it (the mel scene with his wifes picture) you kept it together.
Putting gamoras hair to shame Mary. So beautiful😊 lethal weapon 2 rocks
Definitely have to watch the whole series. Well worth it
Your hair looks INCREDIBLE!! 😍
These films get better with each one!! Number 3 is my favourite 😂 can't wait for you to fall in love with the characters as you watch them.
Mary Danny Glover and the Blonde bad guy (Gary Busey) are both in Predator 2
Gary Busey is also in
Point Break 1991 staring Keanu Reeve's
It's a good movie.
I usually like rich pure dark raven hair...but the red with the curls is working Mary, nice selection.
First you did Rocky, started Rambo and now beginning Lethal Weapon its like your going through my favourite movies one by one 🤙🏻
Rush Hour
Yes! Great reaction! In my opinion the greatest bromance in movie history. Can't wait for the next one.
Loved your reaction to this movie, humorous and light but appreciative of the quality of the characters and storyline x
Geez, I remember seeing this in the movies. I was 20 and with my then little girlfriend, Michelle. I'm a bit over 6'1" and she was 5'3" LOL Thanks as always for a great reaction Ms. Cherry.
Hello Mary. Glad to see you are staring to watch the 'Lethal Weapon' series. You commented a couple times on the saxophone that it was 'sexy' music. It is actually Murtagh's 'theme'. Apparently the composer wanted to have the saxophone for Murtagh, and the guitar for Riggs. As you continue with the next three films, you will be able to hear it more. I actually like the saxophone dynamic, as I really cannot think of any other film, or franchise, that uses it as predominantly as the 'Lethal Weapon' series...
Also, Lethal Weapon 2 has to be my favorite film in the franchise. It is the first one I saw. I hope you enjoy the whole series. I also hear tale they are planning a fifth movie. I hope if they actually do it, it turns out as good as the rest of them...
It was half jazz rock
Loving your new look, really suits you 👌
2nd movie, your gonna love it.
Lethal Weapon 2 is my favorite of all four films. It also introduced me to my favorite song by George Harrison, Cheer Down. I have been a longtime fan of Richard Donner's films. Superman, the Lethal Weapon films, The Goonies, Scrooged and The Omen from 1976. Also, Shane Black, who was one of the writers for the Lethal Weapon films, was also a co-screenwriter for one of my favorite films from my teenage years, The Monster Squad, from 1986. It has some of the classic Universal monsters: Dracula, The Mummy, The Wolfman, Creature From The Black Lagoon, the three Brides of Dracula and Frankenstein's Monster.
UA-cam wasn't always strict. There was a time when it was like the Wild West, it was a double-edged sword but people could do almost ANYTHING without scrutiny. Also, there's a Director's Cut version of this you should see, there are scene that were cut out from the theatrical that were restored in the Director's cut, same goes for the other Lethal Weapon films. Example, before the shoot-out at the Tree-shop in the beginning, Riggs deals with a school shooting.
Also while I love all 4 films, Lethal Weapon 3 is my favorite, I'll explain why in the 3rd video.
I like how the handcuffs magically disappeared once they jumped off the building and were back once they landed 😂 Loved this movie as a kid
And it begins!....1 through 4! I'm here for it.
You’re in for another wild ride with this franchise.
Your journey has begun. A truly great series of films. Actually an emotional roller coaster as well.
Great reaction / review.
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
Ohhhhhhh! Love the red streaks! You are killing it girl!
A golden standard of the buddy cop genre.
All the trimmings of a perfect match on film.
All 4 films helmed by the late, great Richard Donner.
1 of 2 classics released in the same year that screenwriter Shane Black worked on and the other was Predator.
Btw, Murtaugh in the script was age 50 while Danny Glover was actually in his 40s.
The score is by Michael Kamen with saxophonist Dave Koz and rock legend on guitar, Eric Clapton.
There was a tv series on Fox that ran for 3 seasons (2016-2019).
But it went on a much different path than the movies with some effort.
Part 5 was in pre-production as Donner just turned age 90 and was ready to jump back into it
Mel was asked by Donner to takeover as director, just in case his health got worse.
Mel said yes and even after Donner's passing with speculation of LW5 never happening.
It was confirmed that it's still on the way.
Gibson is a great filmmaker.
He'll definitely pull it off.
Your hair is looking great, this was a great movie to watch.
They talked about cia operation Air America. Years later Mel Gibson made movie of the same name about it with young Robert Downey Jr. It's a great movie.
The fight at the end was a special forces vietnam thing They were in the same unit, same level of hard core. Riggs asked if he wants a shot at the title, implying Riggs held the unit hand to hand top dog, and even though they didnt serve together, they walked in the same circles.
To know who's the best
Great reaction to one of my top ten favorite movies! It has a wide variety of types, from comedy to serious drama to buddy movie to cop story and of course the action flick element that runs throughout.
This first movie was so freaking intense on so many levels. I first saw it as a teen once it first came out on video. Not going to lie, in the scene with Martin Riggs in his trailer with the picture of his late wife, his emotions seemed so real and so raw that I felt devastated for him. Such great acting! And not at all what one would expect from what was basically a buddy cop movie.
The Murtaugh and Riggs partnership was a great odd couple setup that both actors made seem flawlessly real and perfect. Glover and Gibson are both excellent actors so that's to be expected, but we usually don't get that kind of realism and seriousness in a buddy cop movie in any era.
Even the secondary characters were well fleshed out and individual instead of cardboard cutouts, from Michael Hunsaker to Murtaugh's wife and kids to the villains the General and Mr. Joshua. They all were well done and well acted and it made everything feel more real than is usual.
The only weak part of the movie, even though my best friend James and I enjoyed it in our late teens, was the martial arts battle on the front lawn at the end. It felt very contrived and unnecessary, but it was also very much a standard trope of the 1980s action flick landscape. Still, this was a stellar movie, and as a guy who was struggling with his own severe suicidal impulses at the time, that part of Riggs' story hit extra hard for me.
The second and third movies in the series are equally excellent, and almost better in some ways, and they do one thing that is not always done in such movies in that storyline elements are kept consistent throughout. Watch and react to both!
Also, I only leave the fourth movie out of my recommendations because I have never personally seen it, and I have no reason for that since I hear it is very good too.
Man this movie was a great watch for me a few years ago, Mel’s character was so broken to me, kinda makes me emphasize with men going through it in their mental health after their loved ones pass.
Wow, your hair looks BEAUTIFUL!!!
This is one of Mel Gibson's two most famous roles. Martin Riggs and Mad Max. 😎
Have you not seen this. Entire 4 films is a buddy cop gem :)
17:00 . I remember being worried so much, when I was a kid because I thought he was dead.
Awesome reaction as always. Love, love, love your hair!
Yes, Mitsubishi did make TVs. I had one and it was very nice. They had (may still, for all I know) a full line of Consumer Electronics. I also had one of their VCRs and, a few years earlier, a phenomenal home stereo built around one of their Receiver/Amplifiers.
Yes Mary Cherry, Lethal Weapon IS INDEED a Christmas Movie!
Good to know you are planning on continuing watching the franchise. The characters they introduce in the following movies have great chemistry as well, the action and the funny/cheese one liners stays in like with the decade, very enjoyable franchise overall.
