I agree. I saw part 2 when I lived in Wyoming. However the best comedy sequel I ever saw was "A Very Brady Sequel" The first one was not that funny, but the second one was great.
Quigley Down Under is one of my favorite movies of all time and one of the best Tom Selleck movies next to Mr Baseball. @Mary Cherry if you haven't seen either Quigley Down Under or Mr Baseball, you have to see both. Both are really good movies.
Having spent a fair amount of my career deployed to combat zones (57 months total), I can confirm you end up being able to smell perfume or cologne from unreal distances when you become accustomed to dirt and sweat. It’s ridiculous how powerfully it hits you when you run into it.
While I still love the first one to this day, Crocodile Dundee 2 is my favorite. Just an amazing film. And may I suggest watching the 1990 film Quigley Down Under? It is set in 1860 Australia and stars Laura San Giacomo, Tom Selleck and the late Alan Rickman. Very amazing film.
I know these films are a bit stereotypical of Australians and over the top but as an American kid when these came out, I fell in love with Australia and Australians. Thanks for reacting to these. It was great to see an Australian reaction and a fun trip down memory lane!
These movies put Australasia on the map for Americans. Prior to these movies, Americans didn't know anything about Australia, but after the first movie came out, there were news reports showing that travel agents (remember those?) all over American were being inundated with requests for trips to Australia. Americans became much more interested in this far away land after these movies.
"The Man From Snowy River"(1982) is one of the biggest Aussie movies of all time. The greatest film director of Australia is Peter Weir. His best Aussie movies you should watch are "Gallipoli"(1981) & "The Year of Living Dangerously"(1982). He has made a lot of great movies. My favorite Peter Weir movie will always be "Witness"(1985) Starring Harrison Ford in his only Oscar nominated role.
A "bull roarer". That's the device Mick was using to summon his mates in the outback. And I learned about it from the Australian band, Midnight Oil, which has a song Bull Roarer from the album "Diesel And Dust". And a suggestion for another Paul Hogan film, that you would enjoy, is "Almost An Angel". A movie which stars Linda Kozlowski as well. Keep up the great reactions Mary, and I'll be looking forward to your next flick! 😉🎥🍿
A few more Australian film suggestions that no-ones mentioned yet. Strictly Ballroom - Baz Luhrman's dirctorial debut about, well, ballroom dancing. Dead Calm - Psychological thriller starring Sam Neil and Nicole Kidman Gallipoli - Story of the WW1 battle involving the Anzacs with Mel Gibson
Great picks, I think Mary would like those better than say Romper Stomper or Walkabout. I would add Baz Luhrman's "Australia". Everyone loves Quigley Down Under, but there are no Australians in the principal cast, since the characters are British and American immigrants.
Two Hands The Dish The Castle Shine Lantana Priscilla, Queen of the Desert He Died With a Felafel in His Hand Muriel's Wedding Dad and Dave: On Our Selection Romper Stomper Ned Kelly Young Einstein Rabbit-Proof Fence Breaker Morant Wolf Creek Chopper Animal Kingdom
In regards to Leeroy acting shady- his name is Leeroy Brown. There's an old song called "Bad, Bad, Leeroy Brown". Which talks about a man named Leeroy who is the baddest man in town. Leeroy is trying to live up to the image of the song to gain street cred even though he's completely on the up and up.
19:30 They're really simple to make, a small thin board or stick cut flat about the length of your palm with a hole in it in one end, thread a length of thin rope into the hole and twist the two ends around each other the entire length and then tie the ends with a knot to keep them twisted, the twist will rotate the board as you swing it, and that will create the sound. Heavier wood is preferable but you could just take a few pieces of cardboard and glue them together.
Loved your reaction. This film, the chemistry with the actors, and overall magic, was alive and well. It's a close call, but I think I liked this one just slightly more than the first Regarding number 3, as it's also the final film in the series, please add it to your UA-cam list of films. It may not have been as strong as the first two, yet it is the finale. :)
For context on Leroy, look up an old song called "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown". That's the vibe he was trying to keep up. And I agree. This one was actually better!
There's a Reddit post about an Australian guy walking home from a bar in Vancouver and drunkenly brushed off a guy trying to mug him. Reminded me of the "That's not a knife; *that's* a knife" scene
Mary, a VERY old movie featured Australia called The Sundowners. It starred Robert Mitchum, and Peter Ustinov among others. It also stars the guy who played Wally from Crocodile Dundee when he was young.
Hi Mary, great reaction! I've got to agree with you there, I always found this one a lot more engaging than the original film. Moments like the gang den scene and the majority of the outback based third act were absolutely brilliant! Great work, thanks for posting 👍
When my dad did something random and small but still considered it an achievement, he used to cross his hands over chest, nod and seriously state "Clint Eastwood".
Rabbit-Proof Fence is a great Australian watch, as are The Dish, Dead Calm, The Man Who Sued God, Manny Lewis, Little Monsters (2019), Lantana, Japanese Story, Boys in the Trees and Boar.
There is another Dundee movie that came out in 2018. Called "Tourism Australia: Dundee - The son of a legend returns home". It has Danny Mcbride as Brian Dundee, Chris Hemsworth, Liam Hemsworth, Russell Crowe, Isla Fisher, Margot Robbie, Hugh Jackman and Paul Hogan
"I'm an Australian and I haven't seen these movies" .... It's a good thing I wasn't driving when I heard that because I can't afford to buy another car right now. Anyway, another great reaction. "Nah, mate, we just hold 'em" has to be the best exchange in the film. The film itself is a bit of art that would ultimately imitate reality as Paul Hogan and Linda Koslowski were married for almost 25 years.
My late mother (American as baseball & apple pie) loved the Dundee movies and Paul Hogan. Glad you're enjoying them as well, particularly providing your frame of reference as an Australian!
That sound that you thought sounded like a leaf blower is an aboriginal way of communicating over long distances, it’s called a bullroarer. Also used as an musical instrument. Always loved that sound. Love the first movie but always preferred this one too. Edit I should add that bullroarers have been found on pretty much every continent , dating back thousands of years so not just aboriginal.
Have you seen Quigley Down Under or the Mad Max movies? That's all I got for Aussie films. Linda and Paul are 19 years apart in age. 1939 v 1958. They were married in real life from 1990 to 2014.
Paul Hogan is also in the Anzacs mini-series about the Australian and New Zealand armies of WW1. Very good watch. Priscilla Queen Of The Desert is also an Australian classic.
I think you would really love Two Hands. It's one of Heath Ledgers 1st, the debut of Rose Byrne and has the legendary Bryan Brown. More importantly, I've been waiting an enternity for someone to make this a trend I can't find any reactions and it's an absolute classic!
When Bob was leaving the message on her machine, and that guy was listening in with that 💩eating grin on his face, you could hear a few shots thru a silencer from somewhere above him, implying that Bob was unalived off camera. I liked this movie a bit more than the first one as well, you're not alone in that.
As far as Aussie films go, I don’t know that many. But, I grew up in the 80’s loving Yahoo Serious. Young Einstein made me want to run away and go live in Australia.
The idea of beer being an element and having to split the atom to put bubbles in it always cracked me up! Somebody needs to make an "Australian Periodic Table" that includes beer if they haven't already.
There was some controversy at the time: People kind of hated Kirk Douglas for trodding on such a special and uniquely Australian legend. But that all quieted down when the movie appeared in the cinema.
I remember watching this one over and over as a kid. I prefer it to the first because of the different situations and locations, from the city to the Outback. It's really just a fun movie! 🍿
I think, "Nah, needs garlic." will be my last words on my deathbed in 20 years. I've been giggling at that line since this movie first came out. Second mention, "He wants to know if he can eat these men." Classic!
From a U.S. subscriber who saw _Crocodile Dundee_ and _Crocodile Dundee II_ opening weekend, I can tell you that both were very popular in America. The sequel was released May 25 and was #1 at the U.S. box office for three straight weeks. The original might've been the biggest grossing Australian film worldwide up to that point. I don't mind either one. The outback scenes are better than the New York scenes, but Hogan and Kozlowski have great screen chemistry and some of the bits are fun. I dig the Crocodile Dundee theme by Peter Best.
It's not an Australian film, but you might like F/X (from 1986, the same year as Crocodile Dundee), which stars an Aussie, Bryan Brown. It's an action thriller about a special effects expert who is hired by the US government for a special job. He's kind of like a higher-tech MacGyver. It's a fun and clever movie, especially if you like technology.
Hi Mary, I like all the Crocodile Dundee movie's as well as Groundhog Day, Overboard,, My Stepmother is an Alien, What Women want, Philadelphia story, the African Queen, Man's Favorite Sport, What's up doc?, Blast from the past, and more! Cool 😎 all of them.
11:01 Oh, he killed Bob. They didn’t show it, but there were audible gunshots, right after the phone call to Sue. It’s implied that he did, in fact, kill Bob.
The first movie was more of a fish-out-of-water romantic comedy, while this was more of an adventure comedy. I love both, but I do prefer this one. If you watch the 3rd one, I've only seen it once or twice and don't remember much, but I love the character, so I'd be happy to watch your reaction if you change your mind about watching it alone!
In real life Paul Hogan (Mick) and Linda Kozlowski (Sue) were married in 1990 and divorce in 2014. The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert - MUST WATCH 1994 AUSTRALIAN ROAD COMEDY!!! Unless you have already seen that fabulous flick! That should be your next watch. Plus, it's a Acadamy Award Winner for Best Costume Design.
I remember as a wee boy going to the Burntisland games with my Nana and Grandad and then going to the pictures to watch this in Kirkcaldy. Brought back great memories so cheers from Scotland lass, be well 🍻✌❤
People have dropped some good Australian movie suggestions in the comments, but I'd like to add: "Chopper" -- It's not always an easy film to watch, but Eric Bana gives one of the best performances I've ever seen. And "Noise" (2007), a really good drama about a cop trying to recover from PTSD from being the first responder to a massacre.
Others have mentioned Gallipoli, which stars Mel Gibson, and The Dish, which stars Sam Neil. Both are based on true stories. I agree with your opinion about this film. I loved it as a kid and love it now.
This movie was poorly received compared to the first film, but I thought it was really entertaining. As a kid, I loved the scenes where Mick terrorized the cartels with the Australian wildlife.
Not sure if it counts, but I highly recommend the film Quigley Down Under, starring Tom Selleck and Alan Rickman. It's a Western set in Australia. There's also the film Australia and Tomorrow, When The War Began (which is more or less Australian Red Dawn).
You should watch Man from Snowy River for sure. It was my initial introduction to Australia and I was obsessed. Still listen to the soundtrack regularly.
This is my favorite movie ever. I can watch this anytime all the time. I don't understand how it's rated so low. I grew up on this and watched it well over 200 times and know it by heart.
Hi, Mary. I didn't even know there are/were other movies after this one. Loved both the first and second movies though. And being able to watch this one with you was a treat I never even dreamed of!!!!!
This movie is a classic. In the third one there is a scene where they order fast food in the drive thru that had me laughing so hard i was almost in tears.
I grew up on both and only realized during your reaction to the first movie why I've always said "No worries" :) The second is also my favorite of the two 😁 Great reaction as always!! 😊😊
Hey Mary, if you're looking for '90s Aussie movies you might like to check out "The Sum of Us" (1994) with Russell Crowe or "The Big Steal" (1990) with Ben Mendelsohn.
Wow. I have no memory of this movie. Must have been thinking of a later one where the Dundee family move to LA. That one my siblings and I loved as kids.

Hi Mary if you want to see another good movie with these two watch "Almost an Angle" just an idea .. : )
Maybe you could watch " Quigley Down Under " a 1990 film set in Australia and it has Tom Selleck and Allen Rickman.
Wondering how in the world have you not watched Sing!!!!! You have to watch SING
RAZORBACK 1984 was a great Australian cult horror film and a must see for all Australians
When I think of Australian movies crocodile Dundee is Aussie for Americans. The true Aussie classic will always be The castle 🙂
One of the very few sequels in movie history that managed to keep the charm and spark of the original and build upon it
I just saw you on "Magic Magy" video.
Agreed.
The third film is best forgotten though.
True
I agree. I saw part 2 when I lived in Wyoming. However the best comedy sequel I ever saw was "A Very Brady Sequel" The first one was not that funny, but the second one was great.
You're not alone, this has always been my favourite of the two.
There's 3.
@@30noir Yeah, but I've not seen the third. ;)
@@keithlangmead4098 Probably don't bother lol
oooh big call, i gotta love one more, but this one is tops.
I agree. Number 3 had its moments but its hard to recommend as the overall story wasn't strong.
If you haven't already you should watch Quigley Down Under. It's a western based in Australia starring Tom Selleck and Alan Rickman!
She replied on somebody else’s comment that she had never even heard of it, which just blows my mind :-) are we sure she’s actually Australian? :-)
Quigley Down Under is one of my favorite movies of all time and one of the best Tom Selleck movies next to Mr Baseball. @Mary Cherry if you haven't seen either Quigley Down Under or Mr Baseball, you have to see both. Both are really good movies.
Excellent suggestion. Was just about to suggest it myself. Hope she gets around to that one. Fantastic film.
Quigley is one of the good ones
Tom Selleck's most underrated movie and Alan Rickman's most underrated performance.
Having spent a fair amount of my career deployed to combat zones (57 months total), I can confirm you end up being able to smell perfume or cologne from unreal distances when you become accustomed to dirt and sweat.
It’s ridiculous how powerfully it hits you when you run into it.

A favorite of mine, I watched it several times when I was younger. And I agree, I think this one is much more fun than the first one.

The sequel "Return to Snowy River" is also really good! I loved both of those movies (along with the Dundee movies) when I was a kid.
So glad you watched part 2. 3 wasn't terrible & at least closed out the story you could say.
I liked 3 but probably just nostalgia
I liked the 3rd one as well. Not as good as the first 2 but still good.

I actually enjoy this one more. It’s got more of a story.

They really got together after the first movie 💯
For context on Leroy, look up an old song called "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown". That's the vibe he was trying to keep up.

Farscape is a Jim Henson affiliate sfy tv show filmed in Australia and I think you definitely like it good story an great characters 😊
Crocodile Dundee is obviously a classic... but I actually love Crocodile Dundee II even more!! First 2 are GREAT!!
There's a Reddit post about an Australian guy walking home from a bar in Vancouver and drunkenly brushed off a guy trying to mug him. Reminded me of the "That's not a knife; *that's* a knife" scene
Another Paul Hogan classic is "Lightning Jack". Also has a very young Cuba Gooding Jr. in it. Western themed.
Great review as always, another movie you need to watch is “Almost An Angel", I know you will love it, cheers
One of the few comedies where the sequel is better than the original, and that was a great movie as well!
Mary, a VERY old movie featured Australia called The Sundowners. It starred Robert Mitchum, and Peter Ustinov among others. It also stars the guy who played Wally from Crocodile Dundee when he was young.
Muriel's Wedding (1994) should be on the list if you haven't seen it yet.
One of my favorite movies!
Favourite film of all time! 😊
I'm with you Mary, I loved the first and second movies. I had the second movie recorded, and used to watch it over and over.
Hi Mary, great reaction! I've got to agree with you there, I always found this one a lot more engaging than the original film. Moments like the gang den scene and the majority of the outback based third act were absolutely brilliant! Great work, thanks for posting 👍
I saw these when they came out in theaters. They were both 10's then, and still hold up as 10's today.
I'm with you Mary, I prefer the second movie as well. I grew up watching these movies with my dad and still love them both.
You should definitely do the third one since you’re talking about the kind of dad Mick would be.

I LOVE this one! I have watched it and quoted it many times. These are the types of bush tricks I always wanted to pull on people.
I think you would really love Two Hands. It's one of Heath Ledgers 1st, the debut of Rose Byrne and has the legendary Bryan Brown. More importantly, I've been waiting an enternity for someone to make this a trend I can't find any reactions and it's an absolute classic!
Totally agree. Two Hands is an absolute classic
I agree. This is my favorite of the series.

The Man From Snowy River is Australian and has one of my favorite film scores from my childhood.
I love 2 better. The way the music lines up with that last scene... one of the best endings ever. Also "I've got a Donk" and Ernie Dingo's smile
I think, "Nah, needs garlic." will be my last words on my deathbed in 20 years. I've been giggling at that line since this movie first came out. Second mention, "He wants to know if he can eat these men." Classic!
He wants to know if he can eat these men...
I'm dead.😂😂😂😂😂
I love all the crocodile Dundee movies. You should do all of them!!
Gotta watch "muriels wedding" and "strictly ballroom " two awesome Australian films 😊
"You're terrible, Muriel!" I bloody love that movie!
From a U.S. subscriber who saw _Crocodile Dundee_ and _Crocodile Dundee II_ opening weekend, I can tell you that both were very popular in America. Part 2 is so good,I really like this one. Mick's cool in this one. Happy to enjoy this with you "Mary ⚘️💗👌
I can't believe an actual Australian waited this long to watch her official national movie!
Another good movie set in Australia is the Tom Selleck western Quigley Down Under.
11:01 Oh, he killed Bob. They didn’t show it, but there were audible gunshots, right after the phone call to Sue. It’s implied that he did, in fact, kill Bob.
In the horror genre.... The Wolf Creek movies are a must to discover Australia. 😅
They are alll great films!!!!!! thank you for watching!!!!
First Aussie classics that come to mind: Walkabout & Romper Stomper.
One of my favorites as a kid! Used to watch this on HBO all the time back in the days.
I like this more than the first one - but both are great! 🎉
he's bad, bad Leroy Brown! The baddest man in the whole damn town! Badder than old King Kong and meaner than a junkyard dog!
"Quigley Down Under" is a great classic. Definitely a good one to watch.
BMX Bandits was one of my favorite movies as a kid. It was one of Nicole Kidman’s first movies. I’d love to see to react to it
One of the few times I liked the sequel more.
Check out Romancing the Stone and then JEWEL OF the Nile. Trust me 😂😅
I remember as a wee boy going to the Burntisland games with my Nana and Grandad and then going to the pictures to watch this in Kirkcaldy.
Wally being a terrible guide for the villains is so funny! I'm glad he got a bigger role this time.
I had this taped from the TV. I've watched this movie sooo many times growing up. Forgot how good it actually is.
i agree with you mary i think the second movie better too :)
I think so too, but I watched the second one first as a kid, loved it. It took quite a while until I watchted the first one the first time.
You should 100% watch the 3rd movie, think you'll find it about as good as others and it really wraps up the movies nicely.
If you want classic Austrian films you have to add Quigley Down Under to your list. Its an absolute classic film.
Not sure if it counts, but I highly recommend the film Quigley Down Under, starring Tom Selleck and Alan Rickman. It's a Western set in Australia. There's also the film Australia and Tomorrow, When The War Began (which is more or less Australian Red Dawn).
The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, is an absolute classic, and if as an Australian you haven't seen that, then shame on you 😉
You should watch Man from Snowy River for sure. It was my initial introduction to Australia and I was obsessed. Still listen to the soundtrack regularly.
Great reaction Mary. I've always preferred this one to the first movie. It's got more action and humor.
yeah def criminally underrated both movies! classics for sure! :)
This is my favorite movie ever. I can watch this anytime all the time. I don't understand how it's rated so low. I grew up on this and watched it well over 200 times and know it by heart.
Thanks Mary, awesome reaction
Hi, Mary. I didn't even know there are/were other movies after this one. Loved both the first and second movies though. And being able to watch this one with you was a treat I never even dreamed of!!!!!
I loved crocodile Dundee 1and 2!!
Here's an Aussie film I'd love to see again! Gallipoli
I agree this one was a little more enjoyable. We got to see him in more action and use his wits to out smart the bad guys.
I think these films hold up well enough to continue a Dundee series reaction 😊
Great reaction i can feel the emotion you convey I’ll keep watching ❤
This movie is a classic. In the third one there is a scene where they order fast food in the drive thru that had me laughing so hard i was almost in tears.
I grew up on both and only realized during your reaction to the first movie why I've always said "No worries" :)
The second is also my favorite of the two 😁 Great reaction as always!! 😊😊
Hey Mary, if you're looking for '90s Aussie movies you might like to check out "The Sum of Us" (1994) with Russell Crowe or "The Big Steal" (1990) with Ben Mendelsohn.
I didn't expect that LEEROOOY...JENKINS! You truly caught me with my defense low.
Wow. I have no memory of this movie. Must have been thinking of a later one where the Dundee family move to LA. That one my siblings and I loved as kids.
Another stellar reaction video from Lola.
Yes absolutely! Quigley down under!
The Man from Snowy River and Gallipoli are two of my Aussie favourites. You could also skip ahead to the end of The Right Stuff
I love this film and glad you do too!
