Hey guys, Voice of Edd here (well, for the movie and BOBW), and I just wanted to say that I too was very skeptical of Marc's handling with BOBW. As I was doing the lines and reading the script, I grew very uncomfortable with how the story was being conveyed and, at the time, just wanted the process to be over with. After the release of BOBW, I watched in hopes that I would be proud of my work, but deep down inside, I was actually ashamed of filling Edd's role in this fanfic and it just didn't feel pure at all. Nothing to be proud of. That's all I have to say about that. Thank you to all the fans that has followed us this far along the way :)
You know what? While some fans may be sad at the loss of this, I'm honestly proud that you spoke your mind. You knew something didn't feel right and, to be honest, I can agree with you. It felt a bit awkward and creepy in some parts while in other times...the jokes rather were a hit or miss. So I admire your integrity for this. After all, some people won't admit when the emperor is naked but I can agree with you. While I admire your voice acting talent, I can honestly agree that perhaps it could've been utilized with a better Eddsworld project. Mirror mirror was done really well. This one just came off a bit creepy. Especially with the Ell and Edd thing. ESPECIALLY because Ell was voiced by Edd’s real sister. Creepy as shit. Matt and Mattilda being together makes sense because of how Matt is so self obsessed. Like he literally made a sex tape with his own clone, so it makes sense for him to be into his female self. Although the tickle shit was weeeird and made everything uncomfortable.
i feel like matt and matilda had a more sibling dynamic to them in this, which i really love! but as most other are saying too, the whole edd and ell thing is really weird and makes me uncomfortable. edd’s sister voicing ell makes it even worse.
The minisodes were canceled because we were basically making bootleg eddisodes at that point so we weren’t allowed to use the official characters for anything other than the movie, hence why McCoy shorts are still a possibility. Just thought I’d clarify that.

I feel like my sister like predicted the future. She kept on watching best of both worlds. I liked it and watched it for a few times. But she watched it whenever she had the chance , and I’m just like why? And she said just in case it goes away .
This Eddisode really was a missed opportunity. They had a great cast, solid animation, and even a good premise of fleshing out the female versions of the characters, but it was all wasted on shipping characters together. This fan behavior had already ruined the reputation of the show in general and it was incredibly disappointing to see it on display in one of the biggest EW related projects since the show ended.
Like someone replied to another, it would have been better if it was Matt and Matilda. Personally, I think Tom and Tomara's interaction was good, but I don't like Edd and Ell's. The "Riley Levine" person he mentioned is great. They have a great criticism for the fan episode. (If you watch it, then just keep in mind that they aren't very fond of the Eddsworld FanMovie) the fan episode had so mush potential.

I’ve definitely seen a mix of answers. Back when Marc was the director there was a jokey animations saying that Tord wasn’t in the movie. But it is entirely possible that it’s changed. I personally would love to see him incorporated, so let’s wait and see
I agree with everything But the relationship would have made more sense if it was Matt X Matilda since Matt has always wanted to date himself how he can That would make much more sense. And although the movie was kinda cringy I still loved it and have nostalgia from it gave me lots of memories and I love watching it because it was the only good thing that I could find because eddsworld had just ended so it was really something good to watch.
Honestly, I realize how weird some of the things that happened on it were, but I actually really liked Matt and Matilda in it since I used to roleplay Matilda when I was younger, and I enjoyed the content this provided since the official Ellsworld thing was really short. I think back on it fondly, but finding out how many issues there were behind the scenes, thinking back on the Alabama self-cest, realizing the creator had a tickle fetish- yeah, I can see why that's definitely a problem lol.

The part when you mentioned that it was so popular because of the female characters really struck me. As a female eddsworld fan I remember when the ellsworld characters were revealed it basically opened up a whole new world for me and I loved it. Suddenly I could cosplay as them!! And I connected with the characters more to the point I started writing about them with friends. Best of both worlds wasn’t amazing, the Edd x Ell and tickle fetish stuff was uncomfortable as hell, but it doesn’t deserve to be forgotten. Extremely well said in the video :)

Even though I was pretty sad when the episode was taken down. I was pretty critical of it and there were some things I didn't enjoy. (Like the romance between Edd and Ell, that just seemed kinda weird to me.) I'm glad they are deciding to go in a new direction with the movie. Even though they don't have to shove the female characters in, it would be nice to have a small reference to them in the movie.

I was alright until I heard that Vicky Gould voices Ell for the fan movie and then I practically threw my phone because I didn’t think that it was actually Vicky, just someone who sounded incredibly similar like Tom’s voice actor.
As a female, I never really liked the Ellsworld characters outside of Mirror Mirror. I don’t really care about representation because that’s never what the show was about. Let's be real, Eddsworld's audience are mostly female because they want to see Sinsworld and yaoi between characters and mostly Tom x Tord, I remember I did a comment on a Tom x Tord flipnote saying "But they hate eachother" and people got so triggered that they obviously started to defend their favourite ship, and even someone made a comment mocking my comment and got more likes which is disappointing because the entire Eddsworld fans are just hungry yaoi girls who needs to see gay stuff between the characters :P
These ships have real consequences, EDDSWORLD characters are based on real people, Paul and Patrik had to stop being friends because of Paultrik or Paul x Patrik or whatever weird ship name it is, because if they were seen together fan girls would probably be really weird or just talk about Paul x Patrik.
So back in late 2019 I got into Eddsworld because my friends introduced it to me, and I thought it was great. I eventually made fanart for my insta and other things, and all was swell. I found Best of both worlds in my recommended, and watched it. This was before I realized that since Edd and Ell are just gender opposite doppelgangers. So originally I thought it was kinda cute. Flashforward two months later, and the next time I saw Edd kissing Ell on the cheek, and I was thinking at that moment: "That's some Sweet Home Alabama right there. And I don't like this anymore thank you very much." Because I turned into an Edd fangirl... and still am. (Please don't hate on me just because.) But anyway, the shipping part in general sucked. It was unneeded, and it felt like a glorified fanfic tbh. Although I did like the part when Tom and Tamara were being best mates that was cool. And they burned the pub. That was funny. Edit: This is just a lil' update. Ignore if you want to. So if you want to know, I'm no longer that into Eddsworld but I still like the show. And yes, I'm not an Edd fangirl anymore. This was my 12 year-old self, back earlier in 2020. I was starting to doubt my fangirling for this fictional character, and I still quite agree with my past self about this! BOBW had a lot of potential. Edd, Tom and Matt interacting with their genderbent versions is such a cool idea, as it has potential for both comedy and to expand on Ell's, Tamara's and Matilda's characters outside of Mirror Mirror. And you can tell the creators also liked this idea and put a lot effort into it. The VA's and animaton were really good, unfortunately the story and interactions are what ruined this fanisode. It was so bad it actually made that fanisode unwatchable. It just felt like I was watching some sort of fanfic where the original Eddsworld characters fall in love with their genderbent versions for no reason.
James Mack Tbh the only parts I liked were with Tamara and Tom. I feel like they have a good dynamic. The Edd and Ell thing was hella cringy and Matt and Matilda’s part was just kinda boring
ironically, this episode is how I found out about Eddsworld in the first place. I became more interested in the series after that knowing that this was manmade and then binged all the episodes. Having newer, well made content for Eddsworld definitely drew more fans into the fandom, along with the interesting and funny combo of the gender bent characters. The Ell and Edd was honestly the only downfall of the episode, in my opinion. I rather enjoyed it, and I'm glad I found it and learned more about the series.
I'm going to say it, I'm glad it got deleted. I will say, i also thought BOBW was bad. The whole Ell and Edd thing disturbed me, now knowing that it was Vicky voicing. It disgust me, it's her brother darn it. I hope the fan movie turns out good and doesn't concentrate on ships.
I really like the girls and mirror mirror is one of my favorite eddisodes, but Best Of Both Worlds always made me uncomfortable. I've always identified with Ell and Tamara, mostly, and the 'romance' plot line always felt gross and wrong to me especially since Vicky Gould still voices Ell and the fact that it's selfcest and borderline incest.

(I also agree that my old video was outdated which is why I put the date of the video in the title) I agree with your points about the minisode's professionalism (which I honestly really glossed over in my review of it) and your theory for why the minisode was so popular in the first place.

I remember they did a series wgere they reviewed every "canon" Eddsworld episode, and when they got to Mirror Mirror (where the genderbent characters are first introduced), they said it seemed like a waste of potential to have both sides not meet and interact (which I'm certain was part of the original idea), which is why they made Best of Both Worlds to begin with. While the episode itself wasn't too bad, it did just feel like a straight fanfic to me. And after seeing it mentioned that Edd's sister voiced Ell, it feels a bit...icky, now.

I agree with everything But the relationship would have made more sense if it was Matt X Matilda since Matt has always wanted to date himself how he can That would make much more sense. And although the movie was kinda cringy I still loved it and have nostalgia from it gave me lots of memories and I love watching it because it was the only good thing that I could find because eddsworld had just ended so it was really something good to watch.

Honestly, I realize how weird some of the things that happened on it were, but I actually really liked Matt and Matilda in it since I used to roleplay Matilda when I was younger, and I enjoyed the content this provided since the official Ellsworld thing was really short. I think back on it fondly, but finding out how many issues there were behind the scenes, thinking back on the Alabama self-cest, realizing the creator had a tickle fetish- yeah, I can see why that's definitely a problem lol.

The part when you mentioned that it was so popular because of the female characters really struck me. As a female eddsworld fan I remember when the ellsworld characters were revealed it basically opened up a whole new world for me and I loved it. Suddenly I could cosplay as them!! And I connected with the characters more to the point I started writing about them with friends. Best of both worlds wasn’t amazing, the Edd x Ell and tickle fetish stuff was uncomfortable as hell, but it doesn’t deserve to be forgotten. Extremely well said in the video :)

Even though I was pretty sad when the episode was taken down. I was pretty critical of it and there were some things I didn't enjoy. (Like the romance between Edd and Ell, that just seemed kinda weird to me.) I'm glad they are deciding to go in a new direction with the movie. Even though they don't have to shove the female characters in, it would be nice to have a small reference to them in the movie.

As a female, I never really liked the Ellsworld characters outside of Mirror Mirror. I don’t really care about representation because that’s never what the show was about. It’s about 3 (four at one point) friends doing what they loved to entertain people. I’d much rather have a cast of all dudes than have female representation shoved down everyone’s throat.

As much as I liked this "episode," it always felt too odd to watch for me. I never dreamed it would ever be deleted, though.
Let's be real, Eddsworld's audience are mostly female because they want to see Sinsworld and yaoi between characters and mostly Tom x Tord, I remember I did a comment on a Tom x Tord flipnote saying "But they hate eachother" and people got so triggered that they obviously started to defend their favourite ship, and even someone made a comment mocking my comment and got more likes which is disappointing because the entire Eddsworld fans are just hungry yaoi girls who needs to see gay stuff between the characters :P

So back in late 2019 I got into Eddsworld because my friends introduced it to me, and I thought it was great. I eventually made fanart for my insta and other things, and all was swell. I found Best of both worlds in my recommended, and watched it. This was before I realized that since Edd and Ell are just gender opposite doppelgangers. So originally I thought it was kinda cute. Flashforward two months later, and the next time I saw Edd kissing Ell on the cheek, and I was thinking at that moment:
"That's some Sweet Home Alabama right there. And I don't like this anymore thank you very much."
Because I turned into an Edd fangirl... and still am. (Please don't hate on me just because.)
But anyway, the shipping part in general sucked. It was unneeded, and it felt like a glorified fanfic tbh.
Although I did like the part when Tom and Tamara were being best mates that was cool. And they burned the pub. That was funny.

BOBW had a lot of potential. Edd, Tom and Matt interacting with their genderbent versions is such a cool idea, as it has potential for both comedy and to expand on Ell's, Tamara's and Matilda's characters outside of Mirror Mirror. And you can tell the creators also liked this idea and put a lot effort into it. The VA's and animaton were really good, unfortunately the story and interactions are what ruined this fanisode. It was so bad it actually made that fanisode unwatchable. It just felt like I was watching some sort of fanfic where the original Eddsworld characters fall in love with their genderbent versions for no reason.

ironically, this episode is how I found out about Eddsworld in the first place. I became more interested in the series after that knowing that this was manmade and then binged all the episodes. Having newer, well made content for Eddsworld definitely drew more fans into the fandom, along with the interesting and funny combo of the gender bent characters. The Ell and Edd was honestly the only downfall of the episode, in my opinion. I rather enjoyed it, and I'm glad I found it and learned more about the series.

I really like the girls and mirror mirror is one of my favorite eddisodes, but Best Of Both Worlds always made me uncomfortable. I've always identified with Ell and Tamara, mostly, and the 'romance' plot line always felt gross and wrong to me especially since Vicky Gould still voices Ell and the fact that it's selfcest and borderline incest.

I remember they did a series wgere they reviewed every "canon" Eddsworld episode, and when they got to Mirror Mirror (where the genderbent characters are first introduced), they said it seemed like a waste of potential to have both sides not meet and interact (which I'm certain was part of the original idea), which is why they made Best of Both Worlds to begin with.
While the episode itself wasn't too bad, it did just feel like a straight fanfic to me. And after seeing it mentioned that Edd's sister voiced Ell, it feels a bit...icky, now.
