I was in Osijek last week! The train station building is finaly finished! They were replacing the rail on the first platform. Unfortunately there are still no electrification plans, however they say next year they will overhaul the line to Koška. We will see.

This stretch was beautiful but unfortunately the flat terrain is boring at times. Nice local atmosphere with few trains, in the heart of the Pannonian plain (although in Croatia), with small but charming stations such as Virovitica, Nasice and the legendary Osijek in the area where the Drava plows through the plain and the small train driven by the railcar blu honks from time to time and is the protagonist in this wild straight. Let's hope for other Croatian lines. Too bad they never thought of electrifying Osijek station. If they connected the Novska station to Osijek and then continued to the Hungarian city of Pecs, where the electric traction ends, one could hypothesize in the near future a faster connection between Vinkovci (which is the main station of Slavonia), Osijek and absurdly Pecs and Budapest. In Serbia the Belgrade Budapest connection already exists. Let's hope so!
@@iRocketQueen It indeed is a sort of main line (say regional line) which connects north-eastern part of the country. Yeah, speed drop is because of the catastrophic condition of the track..renovation of this corridor is under general plan as of now, but expect it to be finished in 10 years or so. Procurement for the works has not yet been initiated. Such a shame considering that we are now officially a developed country. But on the bright side, there are active works on the reconsturction and track doubling of the corridor between Hungarian border and Karlovac via Zagreb (whole section). So I guess things will get better, just not very quickly. :)
@@doriancroatia2054 As Osijek is one of the biggest cities in Croatia (only one besides Zagreb with tram!) I find it kinda strange no major upgrades are currently ongoing

Potpuna je sramota da se ovdje ne vozi 100-120 km/h. I to minimalno. I da je Podravina toliko zapostavljena po pitanju brzih vlakova.
