Excellent information. Most of the time, AC technicians drain the gas before uninstalling and then while reinstalling, we’re required to pay huge amounts! Don’t know if they are aware of this technique or they just don’t do it deliberately to harass customers. In last 3 years, I had to fill in the gas 3 times, whereas for 10 years before that, I was doing ok with installation gas filling itself.

Do it only in presence of a n experienced person if you are a new technician. Better to attach manifold gauge in the suction line and as soon as meter shows zero reading ,switch off the system (by a second person). Better to switch off by looking at manifold reading than waiting for 1 or 2 minutes. Sometimes it takes only 30 seconds depending upon the size of AC. Avoid gas storing for very old air conditioners.

Hello Sir, We really appreciate you work on helping us understand all about AC. I need a suggestion/guidance from you. I had recently installed a 1 ton AC at my home. The problem is the installer from panasonic did not vacuum the unit and released the gas. I complained about the same with Panasonic and they have order the agent to visit again an vacuum the unit. The problem is will it make any difference as the gas would already have mixed with the air. During the vacuum process he will store the gas in the outdoor unit but it will store the same gas which is already mixed with air and and will release the same gas after vacuum. Should I ask them to completely remove the gas, vacuum both the outdoor and indoor unit and fill the gas in both the units? What do you suggest? as I think storing the gas and vacuuming the indoor now does makes sense?

Very nice video. I recently purchased lg dual inverter ac. The installation technician installed a pump and cleaned the whole ac from inside. I asked whether you are filling Gas. He said no I am cleaning ac from inside. I was surprised why new ac is rewuired to be cleaned. Please enlighten about this.
