I'm so sorry. You were assaulted, and that is very traumatic. What others don't realize is that you continue to have PTSD long after the event. You probably feel fear about getting on elevators alone with a strange man, or any situation where someone could take advantage of you. The smell of a man's filthy B.O. and stale cigarette smell makes me want to run away and throw up to this day. I was 15 when I was raped by a strange grown man. Don't remember what he looked like, but after 45 years I still remember his stench. I never told my parents, but confided in my sisters 10 years later. It happened to one of them also when she was a teen.
I am so sorry for your trauma and for the insensitivity of your friend. You are not demoted; you overcame! Thank God indeed for therapy and good counseling.
My mom passed away when I was 17, and when I see a post about mothers, it makes me feel good that the poster still has their mother. No offense at all.
I know this feeling. Mine passed away 12 yrs ago this month. I love seeing ppl talking about the good times with their moms. What makes me upset is when I see ppl being jerks when their mother is just trying to do their best and someone taking advantage of that or being an a** about it, THAT upsets me. I want to be like "that is YOUR MOTHER!! you should be greatful you still HAVE her in your life! Be good to her because life is too damn short and you never know, accidents happen, things happen, and you don't want to have regrets, you don't want to have so many things that were never said weighing on you. Thank her for all that she does. Tell her you love her and appreciate her. Those simple things, would make her day." Those are the posts that upset me. The ones that talk about the goofy things a mom and child have done, or anything positive, those make me happy. ❤️❤️ Edit: I was 25 when she passed and had just had my son, he was 8 mo old when she passed. She got to her a grandchild born. It was extremely hard when I had my daughter though. When I was pregnant with my son at first my mom insisted it was a girl and picked out tons of girly stuff and when they were nope it's a boy my mom had to go back and repick everything out for a boy 🤣🤦🏽♀️ so when I had a girl, it was bittersweet aas now mom wasn't there to do all the girly things she thought she was gonna be able to do.
Yes same I lost mine at 13. And seeing others post about the closeness they have with their mom warms my heart. I also get mad when someone bashes their mother. Both of my parents have been gone for more than 22 years. They were wonderful, kind, and very funny people and I still love talking about them and good times. For me, it keeps their memory alive, and helps my son know more about them since Dad died when my son was 4 and Momma died when he was 8. I'd be annoyed if someone told me I wasn't "allowed" to say kind things about my parents!

The one who had lost her mother and got offended when other person talked about their mom reminded me of something... I was once in a small Facebook group, the kind where you can tell about your problems in a safe environment. It was about same time when we found out that we will never have children, not in any way. I told about this in that group and not long (it really was the same or the next day!!) after that this woman who has six children, posted something about how being a mother is the best and most important things in a world and how love towards your children is only real love and all this shit (yeah I know it's most probably true but that just it. You don't rub that kind of thing in face of someone who has just found out that they're never going to experience it!). Well, I survived that although it did hurt like hell. Time went by and I posted again something to this group. It was some normal thing and I mentioned that we were doing somehow fun with my mom. This woman with six children had lost her mother few months earlier and now she attacked me that I have the audacity to tell something like that now when she had just lost her mom!!😳 I lost it. I completely lost it. I got out of that group as fast as I could, unfriended this woman right away and blocked her. I just couldnt stand that level of selfishness and lack of empathy anymore.

English isn't my native language, sorry.😆 I mean she was the inventer and "boss" of the group so I couldn't just block her. Therapy is a beautiful thing. It demonstrates will to grow and to become more self-aware. It's not an easy task, so everyone who decides to do it should let go of the stigma that doing therapy makes you weak or crazy. It's the exact opposite. People who choose to do it are strong and brave.
@@cardemis7637 Obviously I don't know you're situation at all or what is available near you, but you may want to consider counseling from a church. Even if you're not "religious," you may find something helpful for free, especially in big churches. Some may only offer things like marital counseling, but others will offer a variety of options. I hope this is helpful and I hope you find healing. ❤️

Yesterday on one of my moots TikTok’s they were asking how people wear a wig all day. I responded as a everyday wig wearer saying “it gets itchy and hot but here are some things that can help with that” and listed some oils used for cooling scalp burns and things that a lot of drag queens use. Someone responded with “HOW COULD YOU BE SO INSENSITIVE AS TO WEAR AND WASTE A WIG THAT SOMEONE WITH CANCER COULD BE WEARING IT IS DISGUSTING AND PEOPLE LIKE OUU DONT DESERVE MONEY” that is an exact quote btw. So I calmly explained that I wear wigs because i like it and it’s what makes me comfortable… they didn’t like that so they told me to kms and that I’m disgusting😅 so that’s fun. I stopped working when I had my kids and when I got my first job when my youngest started school I was so excited. ooohhh yes - the rhetorical questions. They suck cuz most of the time you just want to bring the person who asks them back to Earth and get them out of the "rave" that usually follows. But you don't get to answer cuz even if you try they don't hear you. Eventually, you learn what this person sounds like when they're in this mood and you just walk away before they even ask the question. YAY! Now they're frustrated as you walk away laughing to yourself. 😁 About that "mad night out": I was visiting my grandparents one evening when suddenly, grandma jumps to her feet from the couch and says, "I feel like doing something CRAZY!!!" Grandpa followed with, "ME TOO!!!" It tickled me to see them acting so out of character and it made me curious as to what they were about to suggest. I was already chuckling when grandma was putting her jacket on to have me take her to the store. I thought they wanted to do something "crazy". But so far, it looked like she was going to have me take her to the store just like every Fri night for their 1/2 gal of ice cream, just like usual. We got to the store and grandma jumped out and practically ran inside while I (as usual) waited in the car. She came back to the car with her (ice cream) purchase and I asked, "Did you want to go somewhere else? Did you want to DO something else?" She was surprised by my questions and seemed a little confused as to why I would think that. So I reminded her about that little shout fest that she and grandpa had before we left. She said, "OH. I got it!" and I said, "Grandma, you always get ice cream every Fri night." She got a smile on her face as though she were planning a secret trip to Vegas as she pulled the ice cream out of the bag and said, "OOOHHH yeah. We always get vanilla, but THIS is strawberry!!!" Could've laughed all night long at that. THIS was their definition of "CRAZY". I just told her, "Cool. Guess you gotta get wild sometimes." One of the best moments I had with them.

I used to work as a Video Relay Sign Language Interpreter, and got a call from a lady needing to talk to her vet. The initial comment was there is something seriously wrong with my male dog, his fur is not covering the skin under. The vet asks for a more specific description so the caller lifts her dog to show a red grossly swollen "member" of her dog that has some cloudy fluid leaking out. (trying not to offend too many people)...I got to describe what i saw in great detail at which the Vet told her to bring in the poor dog immediately....in the background is the husband saying "i told you so".

I love how youtubers are talking about therapy (Carlinbrothers are very open too about this) and it really should be normal. In our country, therapy is a tabo and we don't talk about it very much and you can tell by how many people are in a burn out, depressed or have other mental health problems.

The smell of a man's filthy B.O. and stale cigarette smell makes me want to run away and throw up to this day. I was 15 when I was raped by a strange grown man. Don't remember what he looked like, but after 45 years I still remember his stench.
I never told my parents, but confided in my sisters 10 years later. It happened to one of them also when she was a teen.

Edit: I was 25 when she passed and had just had my son, he was 8 mo old when she passed. She got to her a grandchild born. It was extremely hard when I had my daughter though. Both of my parents have been gone for more than 22 years. They were wonderful, kind, and very funny people and I still love talking about them and good times. For me, it keeps their memory alive, and helps my son know more about them since Dad died when my son was 4 and Momma died when he was 8. I'd be annoyed if someone told me I wasn't "allowed" to say kind things about my parents!

The one who had lost her mother and got offended when other person talked about their mom reminded me of something...
I was once in a small Facebook group, the kind where you can tell about your problems in a safe environment. It was about same time when we found out that we will never have children, not in any way.
I told about this in that group and not long (it really was the same or the next day!!) after that this woman who has six children, posted something about how being a mother is the best and most important things in a world and how love towards your children is only real love and all this shit (yeah I know it's most probably true but that just it. You don't rub that kind of thing in face of someone who has just found out that they're never going to experience it!).
Well, I survived that although it did hurt like hell. Time went by and I posted again something to this group. It was some normal thing and I mentioned that we were doing somehow fun with my mom.
This woman with six children had lost her mother few months earlier and now she attacked me that I have the audacity to tell something like that now when she had just lost her mom!!😳
I lost it. I completely lost it. I got out of that group as fast as I could, unfriended this woman right away and blocked her. I just couldnt stand that level of selfishness and lack of empathy anymore.

Therapy is a beautiful thing. It demonstrates will to grow and to become more self-aware. It's not an easy task, so everyone who decides to do it should let go of the stigma that doing therapy makes you weak or crazy. It's the exact opposite. People who choose to do it are strong and brave.

Even if you're not "religious," you may find something helpful for free, especially in big churches. Some may only offer things like marital counseling, but others will offer a variety of options. About that "mad night out": I was visiting my grandparents one evening when suddenly, grandma jumps to her feet from the couch and says, "I feel like doing something CRAZY!!!" Grandpa followed with, "ME TOO!!!" It tickled me to see them acting so out of character and it made me curious as to what they were about to suggest. I was already chuckling when grandma was putting her jacket on to have me take her to the store. I thought they wanted to do something "crazy". But so far, it looked like she was going to have me take her to the store just like every Fri night for their 1/2 gal of ice cream, just like usual.
We got to the store and grandma jumped out and practically ran inside while I (as usual) waited in the car.
She came back to the car with her (ice cream) purchase and I asked, "Did you want to go somewhere else? Did you want to DO something else?" She was surprised by my questions and seemed a little confused as to why I would think that.
So I reminded her about that little shout fest that she and grandpa had before we left. She said, "OH. I got it!" and I said, "Grandma, you always get ice cream every Fri night."
She got a smile on her face as though she were planning a secret trip to Vegas as she pulled the ice cream out of the bag and said, "OOOHHH yeah. We always get vanilla, but THIS is strawberry!!!"
Could've laughed all night long at that. THIS was their definition of "CRAZY". I just told her, "Cool. Guess you gotta get wild sometimes."

I got that feeling too. I think without knowing the full context of the place being reviewed it seems like that one may not have belonged here. It seemed to me, a VERY important internet nobody, that this place was on or affiliated with the university or at least had a recent renovation done by a famous landscape architecture graduate/professor from that university. I used to work as a Video Relay Sign Language Interpreter, and got a call from a lady needing to talk to her vet. The initial comment was there is something seriously wrong with my male dog, his fur is not covering the skin under. The vet asks for a more specific description so the caller lifts her dog to show a red grossly swollen "member" of her dog that has some cloudy fluid leaking out. (trying not to offend too many people)...I got to describe what i saw in great detail at which the Vet told her to bring in the poor dog immediately....in the background is the husband saying "i told you so".
