    Honestly a very underrated video you've made here! I want to smoothen out and then wrap the stock fender flares on my '15 Sierra. I know yall are doing paint but this vid has me in the right direction for my project. Thanks so much.

      Exactly! Smoothen out textured areas so the vinyl wrap might adhere. Although I'm surprised there is so less to find about tgat process on the internet

      Did you do it ?
      I'm planning to do in my car, just sand to smooth the plastic, and the wrap
      Would the wrap stick well?

    I love it man. I have a Dodge Challenger I’m wanting to try this on. The video was great but a little hard to follow along correct me if I’m wrong but you,
    Sanded the texture out with 220
    Sprayed adhesion promoter
    Sprayed flexible primer
    Sanded that
    Sprayed flexible primer
    Sanded
    Sprayed flexible primer
    Sanded
    Sprayed base coat
    Then 2 coats of clear?
    Sorry if I sound dumb I just wanna make sure I do a good job

      After the 220 grit I water by hand with a scotch bright pad and sanding paste, and it was I think probably 3 coats of base coat to get good coverage

    Hey! you may have mentioned this in the video and I just missed it, but have you tried using a torch at a distance from the textured plastics. The auxillary heat "melts" the texture quicker than the thicker base layer of plastic. Certainly going to still need a bit of a smoothing process, but that's a piece of advice I had been given from a custom wrap shop to smooth out those textured areas. Going to be painting my X3 myself soon and really appreciate the video's you've put together

    What kind of paint did you use for the top coat? Does it matter?

  • @key2evil
    @key2evil 2 роки тому +1

    Did you use any flex agents in the base coat and clear coat or will it hold up fine without it. Also what type of clear coat did you use? Thanks for the video, great work!

      I’ve painted 10+ side by sides and have never used flex agents and never had an issue. First one I painted 5 years ago still looks like I just did it.

    Thank you for the video! How many coats of clear did you do? And was the paint just an automotive paint? Also what grit sand paper did you use for the primer?

    • @OffroadTrolls
      @OffroadTrolls  3 роки тому +3

      2 coats of clear, it was regular automotive base coat, and clear coat. First two coat of primer were sanded with 220 grip paper, last two were sanded with 320 grit, primer was SEM flexible primer
