When putting a hot tub in Spa mode and it is draining, the likely issue is with the automatic valves. There are two valves, one for suction and one for return. When in Spa mode, these valves automatically turn.
The problem is that the bottom suction valve is turning on to suck out water, but the top return valve is not turning on. This causes the tub to drain.
To fix it, check the back of the return valve. There will be a toggle switch that can be flipped to change the direction the valve rotates. Flipping this switch should get the return valve turning in the right direction to prevent draining.
If flipping the switch does not cause the valve to turn, then the valve itself is bad and needs replacing. Rodents sometimes chew wires leading to valves, cutting the power to turn them.

I don't normally make comments. But it's 1159pm and I was having issues with the spa draining to pool and out the overflow during freezing conditions. Your video helped remind me to check the position of the toggle switches. They were left not in the correct position (I assume be my pool maintenance guy) . Spa was almost completely empty, after I corrected it, the level in the spa rose significantly. The switches look like they're moving as they should. And I am filling up the spa. Hopefully it all works out. Thanks for the video.
Thank you! I was going crazy trying to figure this out! On mine thought if I changed the return switch the spa drained, but when I changed the drain switch it stopped draining.

You mentioned checking the little switches. Will both those valves you showed turning have little switches? I have the two but unsure which is spa return but both have little switches.
The automatic valve closest to the pump is the suction valve, and the other will be the return.
So if the spa is draining, then the suction is the one that works. If you can switch it to spa mode from the outside controls, it will be obvious which one is not working
