I absolutely love how you make your builds logical and take the time to consider how this would work in real life. Especially the lift, many minecraft builders would never have thought of that. Seriously underrated, amazing work!
thanks! it honestly makes it so much easier to imagine it in real life, the hardest part of a build is having inspiration and thinking about what should go where, and being logical about it is super helpful
@@jqvvy. making custom trees is a nightmare, you have to create a whole catalog essentially of trees in orders for it to not take magnitudes more time and yes in the long run that saves time but the initial investment of time is an absolute killer. I've tried something like that once and I only finished like 40 trees after as many hours of work to make sure they were each relatively different and that was only with oak trees, I can only imagine how much time it would take to make all the different species of trees.
@@GeetBuilds oh absolutely. I've been working on a castle for almost a year, it's probably half the size tops of yours as I lose motivation often but never gave up. Thanks for the inspo! Keep up the good work.
I really love this build. It's massive, everything is detailed, and almost everything has a clear defined purpose. I love your passion for building too. Have you ever considered joining a build team?
thanks so much! i've had a couple offers, but for the most part i think i prefer to just work on my own projects. if i joined a build team, i would probably want to just be the terraformer and make the maps that were then built on
This thing is ridiculously pretty, I really want to be able to walk through every road and street of it, but I think I can wait until you're finished, so it's easier to get inspiration, after all, even if it's already amazing, the complete thing should create a whole new felling to It
Wow, I'm studying architecture and building engineering and I've never been so impressed and immersed in seeing a city created. Urbanistically speaking I would have made different choices, but visually you are an artist and you have my admiration
@@LaurensHouweling Well there are errors and design choices, the errors are: - at 20:25 ships need an easy way to dock in the port, either you put breakwaters or free up more space and put flat walls on the sides - at 3:49 the biggest mistake is not to use the last strip of free hill to build, but to put the entrance gates there..beyond the fact that the most important buildings would be there like a castle, what happens if you get attacked? Defend while you are downhill while the enemies have a comfortable and protected field The different choices I would have made: - at 20:38 the large clock tower does not go there, it bothers the view on the terraces, but goes in the university that mistakenly has nothing to mark the time of the lessons - at 23:19 you need a tunnel in the rock that connects the neighborhood of students houses to the rest of the city - at 23:34 you have to think about putting windows in the tunnel, move it further to the left, add arches in the direction of the tunnel and in the center put openings towards the sea, at the corners I would start with full wall and then alternate with arches and windows
I also would have switched the university and the ship yards on the sides of the city. Makes more sense to me that the supply docks would come in by the places where the ships are being made so that the timber and other materials are readily available (unless those docks by the uni are only for high value goods)
