I absolutely love how you make your builds logical and take the time to consider how this would work in real life. Especially the lift, many minecraft builders would never have thought of that. Seriously underrated, amazing work!

thanks! it honestly makes it so much easier to imagine it in real life, the hardest part of a build is having inspiration and thinking about what should go where, and being logical about it is super helpful

@@jqvvy. making custom trees is a nightmare, you have to create a whole catalog essentially of trees in orders for it to not take magnitudes more time and yes in the long run that saves time but the initial investment of time is an absolute killer. I've tried something like that once and I only finished like 40 trees after as many hours of work to make sure they were each relatively different and that was only with oak trees, I can only imagine how much time it would take to make all the different species of trees.

This thing is ridiculously pretty, I really want to be able to walk through every road and street of it, but I think I can wait until you're finished, so it's easier to get inspiration, after all, even if it's already amazing, the complete thing should create a whole new felling to It

did you notice any mistakes in the city planning?

    • @maffigabri
      @maffigabri 3 роки тому +10

@@LaurensHouweling Well there are errors and design choices, the errors are:
      - at 20:25 ships need an easy way to dock in the port, either you put breakwaters or free up more space and put flat walls on the sides
      - at 3:49 the biggest mistake is not to use the last strip of free hill to build, but to put the entrance gates there..beyond the fact that the most important buildings would be there like a castle, what happens if you get attacked? Defend while you are downhill while the enemies have a comfortable and protected field
The different choices I would have made:
      - at 20:38 the large clock tower does not go there, it bothers the view on the terraces, but goes in the university that mistakenly has nothing to mark the time of the lessons
      - at 23:19 you need a tunnel in the rock that connects the neighborhood of students houses to the rest of the city
      - at 23:34 you have to think about putting windows in the tunnel, move it further to the left, add arches in the direction of the tunnel and in the center put openings towards the sea, at the corners I would start with full wall and then alternate with arches and windows

    • @maffigabri

I also would have switched the university and the ship yards on the sides of the city. Makes more sense to me that the supply docks would come in by the places where the ships are being made so that the timber and other materials are readily available (unless those docks by the uni are only for high value goods)

Love the idea of the lift but the way it is positioned it looks like it would run into the water wheels below it when lowered

*Bows* All bow before the true king of Minecraft Medieval building, his legacy has been proven countless times and he deserves this ranking more than anyone who dares challenge the realism and architectural genius he has in his empire.

This is incredibly well made. Love your builds. I’d love an update to villagers to make them incorporate into all of this more, such as roles like soldiers or royalty, etc. Still, phenomenal build.

Great work! One thing that would boost your buildings would be more organic shapes. So that not every wall is straight and 90deg. I hope you kow what I mean by that :) Keep it up!

love it! I hope youre still passionate about it as giant projects are intimidating..(duh)
IMO some of the statues, who are all amazing in design are a bit too big for the city, but everything from the water pullies to the block pallet was AMAZING
keep up the great work! I hope to see a poor ,crime filled district (think medieval skid row type) whenever PART 2 comes out -
    but no pressure :)
