Early T-60s had Northern Ash bodies and later Alder. In between that, they experimented with a wood local to Mississippi called "Hackberry" that is somewhat like Ash, but lighter.
I have an '81 T-60 & an '82 T-15.Ridiculously thin-fast as f necks, with tone knob coil splitting, Out of Phase and Parallel via toggle! I wish mine were Hackberry, instead of that heavy ash, when 10+lb Guitars were the thing...Hackberry is Local To almost everywhere...We looked at houses in the KC area that had Hackberry trees. They make nice Lawn Trees. Grown nice and straight, attractive, and a hardwood that won't shed branches. Looking to sell the T-60 down the road.
I bought the t-15 used about 30 years ago at Caruso’s Music in Connecticut. I think I paid around 90.00 ! Wish I could find the amp that went in the case!
Nice job, I just picked up a T-27, very happy with it so far, I just find the bridge a bit mysterious and the aesthetics are a bit odd: finish like a kitchen table paired with a somewhat futuristic headstock; it's an off-beat look. But i totally get it that it's a very practical and well-thought-out design, and you can't argue with the sound.
I’m hoping to win a T-60 from a raffle that has great odds. It’s an ‘80 but I wish it was a ‘79 (my birth year). Seeing Johnny Copland playing one with SRV on Tin Pan Alley, solidified my GAS’s need to have one of these. 😁. Thanks for the video 🤘🏻
I had a T-30 around 1998. Should have never let it go. Along with my 1979 Z28. Great docu. As you stated, very little info out there on these. I was just getting my feet wet in cnc around 1998. Went on to do that for a couple decades. Never knew these were made using cnc.
I had one and loved it. There was a fire at our apartment complex & the firemen broke the door down & it wouldnt lock properly & some jerk broke in & stole all of my guitars before I could try to save them ☹☹☹
I bought a T-30 from my daughter in law last month. I'm now relearning how to play after a 35 year hiatus from playing. Has the original "chainsaw" case (no amp) and all the original documentation/manuals. You said the neck is maple, what wood comprises the body?
According to the owner's manual it is made out of Oak. Thanks for watching and commenting, and Please Like, Subscribe & Share. Also check out my DrivinIvanKatz youtube channel for more music content! ua-cam.com/video/I_5TNyCXRbs/v-deo.htmlsi=Njmj7JWjWqyD8BoS
I am currently refurbishing my childhood T-15 and am trying to find info about the finish on the natural ash body. Has any one got any advice? It’s a bit scratched and dinged and I’m looking to sand and refinish but it doesn’t seem like there is any polyurethane on it.
What makes them special to me is they are made in the USA, and they can be had for little or nothing and they all deserve to be resurrected. Currently working on a t15 and a horizon.
You didn’t give that much information every guitar you pick up you should immediately tell us what the scale is the T 15 is 23 1/2 inches. What is the scale of the T 30 and the T 60 that is one of the most important things that makes people like Peavey guitars- you just say Short scale how about speaking plainly in inches so that we know what you were talking about I own a short scale guitar that is 21 1/2 inches and it’s too short- the T 15 the Mississippi mustang is 23 1/2 inches you seem to be more involved in the electronics and the tone which we can get with any amp we need without telling us the specifications of the guitar so I was disappointed and I happened to be a great big fan of the T 15 and is the T 30 the same scale if it is I’ll go get one!
So the T30 is 23.5” scale. Mine is absolutely beautiful to play. Besides the short scale; the neck is very thin and easy for me to manipulate! Hope this helps; I realize a few months have passed!
These take me back to the 70s best decade ever.

Do you know what the finish is on the natural ash body?
@@G3lowdenmy t27 is ash and is a nice, natural satin finish
Great video. I love vintage.

I've been playing T60 and T40s since 78
Great guitars. I have 4 T-60's, 4 T-15's 1 T-26, all in various colours and all in top condition. Super nice necks.
I got the love of these guitars when Johnny Copland jammed with SRV during Tin Pan alley.🎸🤜🤛💯👍👍

I’d love to know what you use for the finish on the natural ash body if that’s what you have.
My t 15 has amp in the case and it doesn’t exactly suck too bad
Note to self: don't forget to watch this 🎉
man. i cant remember..
at all...who, how, or when, i sold my t-15.
The T-30s have weird wirings in them. Lots of capacitors and resistors
