It's so adorable how your friends were there to support you almost each time, it's so inspiring :) you're lucky to be surrounded by such great people
Yeah I'm blessed with some of the best friends in the world. They helped me get through all the rejections I had at the end of the admissions process.
Delph
UW comp-sci is crazy selective, dude! Congrats on getting direct admit! go dawgs!
Thank you! Go Dawgs!
You got a 36 on ACT and 4.00 GPA got deferred from University of Illinois....... The fuck is wrong with them?
tows1000 well it is the 5th best school in the nation for his major
Anshu Nidamanuri But they're acceptance rate is 66%...
I loved this video! So positive, uplifting and inspiring, your friends are so cool and supportive, it's so cool that you kept the faith even through the tough news of rejections. This can inspire so many others. Best of luck at uni this fall!! Can't wait to see your graduate school reaction video one day!
Thank you! I definitely have some awesome friends.
saw the ib logo and got so triggered just bc I felt the pain of the program LMAO but congrats!!!!
Haha thanks! The IBDP was torture but thankfully I'm finally done. Make sure to stay tuned for my IB results reaction video in July.
twopar Wait, you only did IBDP? I did MYP + DP! But will do, good to see fellow IB graduate. Congrats for committing to UW. I'll be at UNR majoring in Biology.
Jiona Robledo My school district only offers the DP. Good luck with your future endeavours!
Jiona Robledo this comment is me
I honestly dont know what you guys are talking about, what is IB
You are an absolute legend. My friends and I watch this video ritually and we especially love your UCLA and University of Washington reactions. Love ya man.
Thanks appreciate it!
ahh I love how positive you are !!
Thank you! A positive attitude has so much power.
I am going through the process now in 2019 and it's so nerve wracking! But I go through this video frequently to keep me sane. Congrats on your amazing acceptances!
I got into UIUC (engineering) after a deferral too! It's an amazing school and it feels so good lmao. But I hope I get UW and UCLA too!
Good luck on your UW experience :)
Congratulations, it must be awesome seeing your hard work pay off. :)
Thanks! The college process was definitely very kind to me.
Your energy is so positive and amazing! Congrats and good luck for the future ::))
Thank you!
Congratulations on all the acceptances! I found this video very inspiring as I start my own application process.
In state tuition my dude. Good choice
Go Dawgs!
Best college decision reaction video I've seen so far. Great advice at the end. Congrats from a fellow IB grad, and I'm sure you'll do great at UW.
Thank you appreciate it. I'll be uploading a video of me opening my IB decision reactions by the end of this week so stay tuned for that.
Hahaha love your reveal! Congratulations on all your acceptances and I wish you the best of luck!!
Hello. Can you please guide me through the best steps that I can take get off the wait list...I am an international student and I have been wait listed by Trinity College
I got UT CS too and was rejected from Cal & Stanford. Congrats on your decision and thanks for sharing!
Would have been nice to see you in Austin :)
Haha the college reveal at the end! I loved it! It was a good shock XD XD Congrats!
Hey man, congrats on your acceptances. I’m currently a junior doing IBDP and had some questions for you.
1. Did you include your predicted IB score in your application? If yes, mind telling what it was?
2. I’m doing quite good in IB and hoping to get around 36-39 IB points but my freshman and sophomore year my GPA was 3.5. I’m hoping to get 3.9-4.0 GPA this year and maybe next year. My SAT is 1400 (gonna retake and aim for 1500). Not crazy ECs but pretty okay. Do you think my low GPA in the first two years of HS gonna affect my chances a lot? Or will the predicted scores make up? Also, even tho GPAs have bad start, it’s an upward trend.
Most of the unis in my list are the ones you applied to as well so wanted to hear your opinion. Thanks and sorry for this long essay
my heart tore when you took off that illinois shirt..
Miracle on Techwood Drive. I get it. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE!
Oh yup THWG
what exams did you submitted and can i apply to same unis with a level exam:A*AA
Miracle on Techwood Drive baby! Go dawgs
Hey congratulations, I live in sammamish and it really cool to see someone who lives near me get into those amazing colleges
Hi there, I just have a quick question. I'm ranked 3 of 48 in my graduating class and I'm in the top 10%, and ut austin has a top 10 percent rule in texas where the top 10 percent of any high school are guaranteed admission...if I'm in the top 10 percent of my class in California, does that have a positive impact?
No. Doesn’t apply to OOS.
Wow! You're the first video I've watched where someone applied to UT. As someone from Austin, the only people I ever hear about applying are from Texas. It was pretty cool seeing someone from outside getting in. Congrats on all of the schools!
Hook em horns haha and thank you
UT is about 40% out of state
well cause he is apply CS and UT is great in CS
Can you do a stats video and one on where you went to college?
omg this video gave me so much anxiety lmao. But I really appreciated what you said at the end. Congrats man!
Don't worry! It's so crazy to think I worried so much about college decisions a year ago but now I don't even think about them at all. Once you start college, you won't really care about where you got in and where you didn't, so just take it as it comes and know that you'll end up somewhere great!
@twopar i saw in the comments u hada 4.0 so u didnt take any AP classes? also did u take the SAT or just the ACT? Im a high school sophmore so im pretty curious
I took IB classes. I took the ACT for college and I took the SAT as it is required to move from a National Merit Semi Finalist to National Merit Finalist.
What were your extracurriculars and achievements?
Congrats on everything
I just got into UW CS, Your video was great and very helpful, hope to see you there :)
Love your reactions! What a mature obviously intelligent and nice guy you are.
Thank you so much!
How is he getting rejected??!? This makes me lose hope
All you can do when it comes to the college admissions process is do your best in everything you do. Anything outside that is beyond your control. Best of luck!
shay jefferson so you're going to work at mcdonalds?
twopar he dident work hard enough
IccyDetroit He had a 36 ACT and a perfect 4.0 unweighted... I think he tried hard enough you fucking dumbass
IccyDetroit you can’t have better stats than he did on the act and you can’t have a higher gpa than he did.... stfu
I am genuinely surprised that you got into a bunch of out-of-state flagship public schools but not any private school. That is so great though lol
But U-Dub is definitely a solid choice for CS...I heard they are huge on Microsoft. I definitely would have done the same thing. I currently go to a college in the Silicon Valley and I heard U-Dub puts a lot of Huskies in those companies. Great video (it was pretty unique, never saw something like it) & congrats
Yeah the only thing I can control is doing my best. Everything else is out of my hands. UW is a great cs school and I'm paying in-state tuition so it's a great value. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Right on, bow down to Washington!
How did you get scholarships as a prospective student?
yo do you go to skyline!?
Do you have any advice for people who aren't the best standardized test takers? My scores are below average but my gpa is in the upper percentile. I believe my test scores don't reflect my academic potential. Still it's kinda scary applying to college with such uncertainty. What are your thoughts on this?
Your GPA is 4 years of hard work whereas your test scores are 4 hours of testing. That should tell you enough about what colleges value the most. Good luck and stay tuned for my college tips videos coming out soon.
Love the video dude! Congrats on your success (:
Thanks!
@twopar what did you ec's look like? Were they compsci related?
I'll be talking about my ECs in another video soon but mine were a mix of volunteering, math related, and business related extracurriculars.
Aw I was hoping to see you at ucla but congrats on all your acceptances and good luck at UW!
Thanks! UCLA is definitely a great school and I was grateful to be accepted.
Congratulations, you seem like a bright student :)
Congrats on your acceptances. UW is my dream school. This year I am a senior and terribly nervous to find out whether they will accept me or not. NC is where I live, and it is supposedly harder for oos student to get in. My ACT score and GPA are far from as good as yours, but my fingers are crossed.
Thank you. Best of luck!
what's your GPA and SAT scores
Hey man, I am so happy for you! I hope you are enjoying life at Uni. So if you don't mind me asking, what was your IB score?
Thank you! I made a video where I reacted to my scores at ua-cam.com/video/ZUx0tZg0mRc/v-deo.html. Watch and you'll find out what score I got!
Did you go to TM Landry?
Love it man! Any advice on High School work?
Honestly just challenge yourself in everything you do but don't push yourself to the point of burnout. Essentially, don't take the easy route but don't lose sight of what's really important (friends, family, experiences, etc.)
You're so inspiring & wholesome
What school did you end up picking?
How can you have a GPA when ur in the IBDP? + What HLS and SLS did you take and what grades?
Watch my video at ua-cam.com/video/ZUx0tZg0mRc/v-deo.html to find out my IB scores. GPA comes from our performance in class and our IB scores come from the officially mandated IB exams and assessments.
Haha I loved the reactions! Very supporting friends. Good advice, Saludos from Argentina
¡Muchas gracias! La verdad es que soy aficionado del español. Un abrazo desde los EE.UU.
Can you do a stats video?
Congrats man i wish i had the chance to even apply for those colleges let alone go there..
did you have any extracurriculars?
How about you make a video explaining how you prepped for the ACT. Because you have a perfect score.
Yes I will be making a video about that. Recorded it today and will be releasing it soon.
which major were you applying for ?
Hi ! I am a High School senior from India. Would like to know if you gave any SAT subject tests and what were your scores.
How good is Purdue good accepted there not sure I wanna go tho for comp sci
where'd you end of going?!
i like the reaction for your acceptance loll!!! super cool you got into ucla lucky you!!! hope that will be me this year!
Thank you! Best of luck!
What was your SAT Score, Weighted, and Unweighted GPA?
Safal he said in another comment that he got a 36 on the ACT and 4.0 unweighted gpa, which is AWESOME👌🏼
I'm also applying for computer science, and was looking at a lot of the public schools you applied to (UW, UT, UC, Michigan), but now I'm not sure because I've heard they don't give a lot of scholarship to out-of-state students. What was your situation with this? Did they give you a lot of money? And if not, did you need a lot of money? Thanks!
Yeah most OOS public schools don't give much scholarship money because they know there are a lot of people who will pay the full price to attend. Ultimately, the reason I stayed in-state is because I was getting a top-tier education at a pretty decent price.
Love how to take everything in stride. Nothing fazes you!!
Thank you! It definitely stung at first but I realized that admissions didn't matter as much as I thought they did so it made it easier to move on.
Nice!! I had the same stats/admission choices as you, I got Berkeley also but picked UW CS.
This was 2 years ago, and I have a fulltime job at Google now! Great choice man, you'll love it
Holy shit dude that's awesome! I'm applying to UW Stanford Berkeley and GT next year so what you did is almost exactly what my goals are lmao. Got any advice?
That's awesome! UW is a great school and it's great to see CSE alumni doing awesome things in the industry!
hi, i am fromafrica and i would be taking the sat thisoctober .the sad part is that there isnt any tutorial centre that gives tips or enlightens us here cos only few take the exam.. please can you give me some tips...i would like if we could talk better ,please
Omotosho Oreoluwa you can buy books from online! And khan academy offers free test but practice makes perfect and manage your time, I promise you can do amazing just be consistent
my sister goes to UW and i visited the campus and its beautiful. im so happy for you and i know youll do great things
Thanks so much appreciate the kind words!
Great job Pari. Good luck at Udub. Great video.
Thank you!
Did you go to ib high school?
Do other schools do automatic admission for in state kids like texas does. If not that's why I love my home state of Texas.
Nope they don't!
Dude....a year later.... I'm screwing my head over the same universities but for business!
Awesome video btw!
Thanks man! Best of luck with your decisions.
U am just finishing the myp programm and about to do the Db
Good luck!
Could you post your stats, please?
now im wondering what one of the thousand good ass schools you chose to go to lol good for you!!!
did you apply for EECS or L&S Computer Science at Cal?
EECS
What is your stat?
8:35 i think usc rejected you because they didn't want to give you a scholarship. same thing happened to me when i applied for class of 2019. i was a national merit finalist, and got rejected. but i got into other top schools like the business schools at cornell and notre dame so i was definitely qualified and should have at least gotten waitlisted. or, perhaps it is just a coincidence that we both got rejected and my theory is completely invalid.
I was also a national merit finalist and I applied for their early scholarship date last year and they didn't give it to me, although I eventually got in at the end of March. I saw some guy on youtube a few years ago got in like 4 ivies and vandy and he got rejected from USC, so I think their admissions are just weird. Also, I'm pretty sure they don't waitlist.
USC offers scholarships to international students, really? Because most of the state schools like UCLA don't offer scholarships to international students. I was interested as an international student but most universities that Americas rush to are state schools and are useless for international students looking for scolarships
idk my friend got rejected from most top 20s but he got USC and currently goes there on the national merit scholarship. He's also in ROTC. His stats weren't out of this world so I don't think they reject people just because theyre merit finalists.
This is why I didn't even apply to USC. I finished the app but didn't submit, yet I was accepted into every UC school. Who needs USC
tbyjb1 lol, you are just straight up dumb. 1. USC has a lot of international masters students but its undergrad international student rate is on par with that of other top 20 private schools, about 14%. In comparison, as a state funded school, UCLA has 12%, oops lol sorry for breaking your dream about UCLA. 2. USC, as a private school, has a universal tuition; international students pay the same amount as American so USC can't make extra money by accepting more international students. It is basic knowledge that private schools can't make extra money off international students. Only public schools do. You are too uneducated to know this? 3. USC does not give scholarship to international students (only in rare occasions) and number of scholarship candidates is fixed. So International students can't take away scholarship opportunities. oops. In conclusion, international student has nothing to do with admissions decisions. "I live in Los Angeles.. No fake news" LMAO. You are so uneducated but trying real hard to be relevant. XD funny
Weird question, were you in the IB program at your high school?
Yes I did the IB Diploma! You can see my IB score reactions on my channel! (ua-cam.com/video/ZUx0tZg0mRc/v-deo.html)
what extra curricular were activities into ?
I will be creating a video soon outlining them
I am 13 and will be attending highschool and really want to get into MIT or Cal state or SanJosa State or Penn state, but can you explain what good topics are there for essays because im alctually stressing about collage, and my highest gpa this 8th grade was a 3.6
SKM VLOGS lol you’re 13 chill out and enjoy high school. When the time come your college advisors will help you greatly.
SKM VLOGS also 8th grade is not seen by college only the beginning of ninth grade unless you took high school courses in 8th grade
Ayush Kadakia okay thankyou!
Don't worry about it yet! You have a lot of time left. Work hard and follow your passions and good things will happen!
twopar I WILL THANKS ,i think this is off topic but i got 31 out of 35 on my manifest detiny history test lol
Congrats on your acceptances! How were your essays by the way? Might they have helped or hurt you? Also, I'm a little surprised about the Cal rejection seeing that you have perfect stats. Making me lose hope :(. But will being in state actually help me?
Not too sure about in-state vs OOS but I felt like my essays were solid. At a lot of these very selective schools it's honestly a crapshoot so you can only do your best and hope things go your way.
Truly inspirational! Any tips for essays?
My biggest tip would be to start writing your essays during the summer because you'll be super stressed during the school year. Make sure to spend a lot of time working on them and have other people look at them so you can get other viewpoints. Also, try to write about things that impacted you during your high school years. It's way easier to write about things that you have a personal connection to.
Can anyone explain what "deffered" means? I am from Europe, and would like to know more about American school systems, so if anyone could explain, would be awesome.
Some universities have both an early and a regular deadline. If you apply by the early deadline, the school may choose to defer you rather than admit or deny you. When you are deferred, that means the university will reevaluate your application as part of the regular decision pool and only then give you a final decision of admitted, waitlisted, or denied.
When you say "early and a regular deadline", do you mean early action or early decision?
Julie Shriver You can be deferred in both early decision and early action. If you are deferred during ED and accepted later during regular decision, you are not forced to go to the school. I personally did not apply ED to any schools because my top choices did not offer ED.
And how did you get in. Any tips for me
Work hard and follow your passions.
This video lowkey gave me anxiety I’m finishing my last two applications and I’m hating the wait I have to do to get accepted or denied
Don't worry! I'm sure things will end up well!
FIGHTING ILLINI!!! I-L-L-I-N-I
I really want to go to the University of Washington but I'm out of state, so it's a slim chance that I'll get in, especially for the pre-med program :(
Best of luck!
Good job!!! I want to go to University of Washington in a nursing major. Is it okay if i could get your stats??? If not what do you think of my stats??? BTW i live in california so im out of state. I have a 3.7 unweighted and 4.3 weighted gpa, Im still taking one more Sat but so far i have 1380, I have 200 hours of service hours, i took 9 ap classes, as for extracuricculars I was part of speech and debate 3 years, newspaper 3 years, yearbook 3 years, 4 clubs- three of them for academics, Im also on the teen advisory board of my community, and have leadership positions for two of the clubs. THANK YOU!!! AND CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN
4.0 GPA and 36 ACT. Thanks so much for the support!
What happened to your follow up video
I've been really busy with school. I'm going to be releasing videos in the upcoming weeks so stay tuned.
congrats, you have a extremely great support system. Hope you can find the same in college
thats money bro i hope i join u fall quarter
What was your hs gpa and act score?
4.0 GPA 36 ACT
CS major sure is tough. You should of try other 2 of the top 4, MIT and CMU, hey you never know. but UW is great also save on tuition. For undergrad I feel all will be similar, go after the top 4 again for grad school!
I was cheering every time u got in like your my older brother omg congrats I’m so happy for you
Thank you!
hey man i'm just wondering how many APs did you take in high school?
My school didn't have APs but we had something called IB which is like the international equivalent. I took IB exams in 6 different subjects (max possible)
@@twopar4667 Thank you very much! How do u find UW? Would u say its as competitive as most people make it out to be?
How the fuck were you rejected to so many? 36 act and national merit finalist? I literally have no hope anymore
Don't worry just do your best in everything and things will work out. Best of luck and stay tuned for my college admissions tips series.
Nina Roy colleges take essays into consideration. If he was a rich and had no experience or obstacles but all these good grades, he'd get rejected over someone who maybe didn't do as good as him but overcame a lot more obstacles.
Congrats on your acceptances dude!! :)
Thanks!
GOT ILLINOIS CS yesterday . Super pumped .
Congrats man! UIUC is a great place to be.
Congratulations on GT, that's my dream school, I am a sophomore in high school.
Thanks! To maximize your chances of getting into GT, try to do as well as you can in school and study hard for standardized tests. Also, explore your passions outside of school since GT cares a lot about having experience and expertise in the field you're applying to. Good luck!
You get in?
Great video and very helpful
I just got direct admission to cs at udub! Literally I watched your video when it came out and was soo jealous.
Bro I didn't even realize you went to Skyline lol. I play football and you guys destroyed us. Anyway go dawgs! (I'm hella late)
Haha all good man! Thanks for the support! Hope high school is treating you well.
