Wonderful tutorial as always! (Also I have to smile at the fact that Aileen’s Tacky Glue is still around - I was the kid who woke up early on Saturday mornings to watch craft shows rather than watch cartoons!)
You inspired me to go to the Satsuma site and I got Candy Claus and Lolly Claus. I love your tutorials you are so percise and explain things so well. Thanks for sharing your experiences and knowledge with us.
Great tutorial! I have some i want to do felt on the back of, and watching you do it with paper still helped me figure out how I'm going to do mine. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience with us.
Great tutorial and loved the tip about adding a jewelry loop as a hanger. Never thought of that but so smart. I stitch so many of the same things that you do. You have excellent taste!!! I did the Mill Hill flamingo ornament with dangly legs like the elf…so cute!!! 🦩
They turned out so cute. This is really inspirational. They would make such sweet gifts, and it wouldn’t cost a fortune to mail them. Thanks as always! I always look forward to your videos! ❤
These turned out so great. So far I have only stitched on paper for the little sled ornaments, so I didn’t have to worry about finishing the back, but this will be perfect for the Mill Hill snowman ornament kit that I bought. Thank you!
This was awesome! I'm stitching on some perforated paper now (Brooke's Books Sunshine Line), and this tutorial is going to help me greatly when it comes time to assemble all the little cut out pieces. Thanks again, Helen!
Hi I love all your videos and everything you make is so cute and gorgeous. Thank you sooooo much for doing this tutorial I made some Christmas ornaments last year and still haven’t fully finished them as I had no idea how to do it! It has been so helpful watching this video I now feel I can finish them. Take care and happy stitching ❤
One of my major goals this year is to step up my finishing! Perfection is not my goal as that, to me, is impossible. I'm happy with good and moving along getting lots of things 😊 finished!!!! Your videos are helping me so much! Please keep them coming!!!
Beautiful finishes! Most of my Mill Hill ornaments are on the antique brown paper, so I use a tan wool felt that is a pretty close match. I use the tacky glue to stick the pieces together. I use a pair of Gingher embroidery scissors with larger holes (that I only use for this purpose). I enjoy trimming the finished ornaments and the matching felt is very forgiving.
I love your tutorials. You show step by step and people like me, need that! Lol love to stitch but don’t enjoy finishing. Which is why I have a box of unfinished finishes! 😮
Thank you for sharing this! I'm almost finished with one of the ornaments and was trying to figure out how to cover the back. You're tutorials are my favorite because they are so easy to follow.
It's sold by Yarn Tree, so sometimes LNS's carry it. I've also found it on 123stitch and Amazon. It can be a little pricey, but lasts a long time. Lori Holt also has a 3/4 inch tape that's less expensive, you would just need to add more strips.
I tried gluing the hanger on then sticking the bigger piece of paper on and cutting, but once I took the back off the paper it kept sticking to my scissors.
I'm not sure, I've never done it. I think I would try on a piece of scrap perforated paper first to see how it takes the dye. If it sucks it up too much it might stain your stitches.
Excellent tutorial Helen! Thank you for taking the time to do these tutorials. Your birds and butterflies are beautiful! ❤
Thanks so much 😊

Thank you for this video♥️ and thank you for sharing the fact it doesn’t had to be absolute perfection to enjoy!♥️🪡🧵

That is so cute. Thank you for the Tutorial 🎉
There so cute thank you
Thank you!
Thank you
Perfection ❤
I love these. Great way to finish the back. Where do you get the wider tape? The papers give you great variety.
It's sold by Yarn Tree, so sometimes LNS's carry it. I've also found it on 123stitch and Amazon. It can be a little pricey, but lasts a long time. Lori Holt also has a 3/4 inch tape that's less expensive, you would just need to add more strips.
Have you tried sticking the butterfly on the paper first and then trimming the paper?
You would need to trim the edge with the hanger first or you would run into trouble trimming that area later because the hanger would be in the way
I tried gluing the hanger on then sticking the bigger piece of paper on and cutting, but once I took the back off the paper it kept sticking to my scissors.
Thank yo0u for a great tutorial. Where did you purchase the douglenstick tape? I have a 1/4 inch tape double stick. ❤❤
The brand name is Stitchery Tape. I've found it at 123stitch, Fat Quarter Shop and Amazon.
Is there a brand name for the stitchery tape that you use? What a useful video! Thanks you!
The brand is actually Stitchery Tape. I know 123stitch, Fat Quarter Shop and Amazon all sell it.
Thanks, Helen.
Helen, do you think it would be ok to antique the edges of the oranments?
I'm not sure, I've never done it. I think I would try on a piece of scrap perforated paper first to see how it takes the dye. If it sucks it up too much it might stain your stitches.
Where do you buy the stitchery tape? I am in Canada so no Hobby Lobby
I've found Stitchery Tape at 123stitch, Fat Quarter Shop and Amazon
