    I discovered adhesive red velvet from Amazon (used for jewelry box lining). I put a hanger in between the paper and the velvet and cut out. Don't have to mess with the glue like i have in the past.

    Great video, I do my perforated paper ornaments with perforated paper on the back, it has worked for me and makes them stiffer.

    Thanks for the video Liz! They’re so stinking cute!! I’ve done a few Mill Hill ornaments this season and I like to use up the extra beads by beading the floss hanger…gives it even more of a glittery finish. Happy Holidays!

    What a clever way to “hide” the chart and not give too much away. Your tech skills are amazing!!! Thanks. I’ve been making Mill Hill ornament kits for years and never saw the Satsuma Street until you started showing them on your FlossTube videos this year. If you have a musical friend, Mill Hill has a gorgeous set of Christmas orchestra ornaments. I made a set for my Mom, who is a pianist and also plays the organ at her church. She loved them and even insisted that I put a pin back on one of them for her to wear over the holidays. I don’t stitch a lot of Halloween, but love this Satsuma Street Santa. P.S. I’ve even used kraft paper to back some of the ornaments. Thanks again, Liz, for doing another tutorial.

      Thank you! Yes I realized while editing I showed the chart but luckily iMovie has different weird filters you can apply so that filter made everything look kind of hand drawn, haha oops! I've seen those instrument ones, they're beautiful!

    I knew there would be a needle minder in there! I also think there will be a floss drop ... ya know the whole package for stitchers lol ... maybe even a thread catcher that matches the bag? idk

    Thank you for sharing, Liz!💚 Have you tried glueing (sp?) the pre-cut ornament to the felt and then trimming the felt? This would eliminate the step where you trace. It’s been a looooong time since I finished one of these ornaments - but I’m pretty sure that’s what I did at the time. And I 100% agree with using a felt that matches your perforated paper!! Definitely will disguise any little trimming bits. 😊 Awesome video!!💚

    I love this satsuma pattern! I picked up stitching again during the pandemic. When I had anxiety and couldn’t sleep I stitched! I made almost 50 ornaments since then. I glue them to heavy cardstock backings, then cut them out after they dry. This has worked well too.

    I haven’t done a mill hill kit before, but do have a super cute Christmas hot chocolate one that I may start soon. I think it’s too big to be an ornament (5x5 maybe?) but I have many on my wishlist that I’ll happily borrow your finishing strategies on. 😊

  • @Kaar333

    Beginner here - Is there a reason you don't glue it down and then cut the felt around it? I would think it would save you from drawing and trimming.

    • @elizabethanncanstitch
      @elizabethanncanstitch  2 роки тому

      You probably could do it that way but I wouldn't like having the felt to deal with in addition to the paper when i'm trying to carefully cut out the paper and not snip any stitches! Someone did tell me about a thin adhesive backed velvet though which I want to try out. I think with something thin you could definitely "glue" first cut second a little more easily!

  • @theresalaboda3569
    @theresalaboda3569 11 місяців тому

    Thank you for the tutorial. However, one suggestion. I really wanted to see how you cut into those odd spaces and you sped up the video so much you really couldn’t see it. It would be nice to see it up close without speeding up the video.

  • @mary-louw2946
    @mary-louw2946 2 роки тому

    Couldn't you glue the felt to the back of the ornament and cut out both pieces at once? Just a thought.

    • @elizabethanncanstitch
      @elizabethanncanstitch  2 роки тому

      You could! I don't like it because I like to be super precise when cutting around the stitching and the perforated paper and the felt adds too much thickness for me so I do it in 2 separate steps! Someone mentioned a thin adhesive backed velvet that I'm going to try out and I'm going to try sticking first and then cutting!

    What brand small scissors do you use..mine " crush" the paper when I'm trying to trim the small areas..I have purchased 4 brands none of which does the small job sections.

    • @elizabethanncanstitch

      Oh really? These are just from Michaels, their brand, but they have a really pointy tip, maybe that helps?
