    Others have said it but I wanted to throw it out there as well. . . . . . . . Thank you for creating this video. Incredibly helpful, especially hitting the EGR nut with penetrating oil a few days in advance. I’m changing the gasket out on a 95 e150, same motor but with different space. Thanks again!

      I'm working on my 1987 Van now, and I'm struggling bad with taking off the intake above the valve cover, the space is so tight so I got off 5 out of 7 bolts. Is there a way around it ?

    Hey man, I'm giving an update on the same truck with 325k. I just finished and this video was spot on. I've been spraying the egr connector for a month as you recommended and it came off with no problem. The info on that little bolt on the rear of the valve cover was a life saver. Everything you did on yours worked out perfectly on mine. You saved me big bucks. Thanks again my friend!

    Pain in the butt. Most excruciating change of a Valve cover I'll ever do cause the manifold is on top of the valve cover instead of beside it, and wiring/lines everywhere, just like a V6 Mitsubishi/Kia with its 3 rear spark plugs. Have to take the whole manifold off just to change the 3 spark plugs, while on Ford, they're just under the valve cover on drivers side. 😭
    Us engine mechanics sometimes hate the engineers of these engines bc of top-mounted manifolds.
    Thank you for showing me how to change my valve cover gasket made it a little much easier

    What a PITA. I've got a 94 that is caked with crap. I just replaced the power steering box and I came out caked with crap. Everything below the valve cover (spark plugs etc) is covered, so it must be the valve cover. You made this look like doing it was possible, so I'll try.

    Thanks very much. I have a 300 inline which I was told needed rear seal to stop oil leakage. Hoping it is lifter cover. (watched your vid on that). I was able to see flex plate(or ring it's sometimes called) and it was totally dry! Wouldn't it be oil soaked if the rear main seal was leaking?

    • @SteveStoltz
      @SteveStoltz  4 роки тому +1

    Got a question maybe you can answer.i have a 1989 f140 4.9 inline 6 and I see people converting to the offenhouser intake and fitec fuel injection.since mine is fuel injection with the fuel rail would I have to have a older style head to do the swap on mine?

    • @SteveStoltz
      @SteveStoltz  9 місяців тому

      I don't think so, don't quote me but I think there is some material that you would remove from the intake ports that is needed for the injector spray, that isn't required for a carbureted setup. I don't think the removal is totally necessary, but it may improve the flow.

    Is it safe to do a complete egr and cat delete on my 89 f150 4.9l? Any tips when i go to do it? I already bypass the snog pump

    • @SteveStoltz
      @SteveStoltz  4 роки тому +1

      Rob B since removing the cats won’t cause any codes, but since the smog pump is out of the loop the cats will likely start to clog due to lack of fresh air to aid the catalyst effect. If you really want to disable the egr you would be better off using a block off/restrictor plate and leave the egr in place. You will get an check engine light if you completely disconnect it.

    That upper was super clean steve! It looked brand new, so did the inside of the valve cover. How many miles are on it? Such a pain maneuvering that cover out, thankfully I had that egr tube out of the way by that point and Just had to fight fuel lines. I never found a torque sequence on the lower/ upper intake bolts either, Guessing there isn't one..... You're bringing up repressed memories watching this 🤣. I'm still getting some oil leaking, I'm thinking it may be the front crank seal or front cover leaking as well. In hindsight I would have just pulled the motor and replaced all of the gaskets that way. It would have been easier and I could have painted the engine while I was at it.
