WHAT!? SOMEONE ACTUALLY GOT WHAT HE WAS ASKING FOR???
Hes probabaly trying to "swap" this one piece for multiple less valuable pieces in the hope that they will become more valuable than this one piece is over time
agreed. and who can say if the people at psa can actually confirm ANY signature as being original. there have been times they were wrong. it's never guaranteed.
How is it scamming if you get exactly what you ask for? heck, how is it ever scamming? Everyone knows pawn shops are not where you go to sell things for a good deal.
People really do not understand how business works, if it *might* be worth 150k at the right auction, 100k cash is a very reasonable offer. If the guy thought he could get more for it without doing a lot of work, he wouldn't have sold it...
Had several of those as a kid from my great grandpa, I used them with clothes pins on my bike spokes. I used some little BB cards on the back, mostly all crisp Honus Wagner as I recall.
PSA has a population of fake forgery slabbed in cases....also counterfeit sportscards slabbed in cases. case in point is steve grad who formerly worked for PSA and on this show pawn stars. steve validated a signature on a godfather screenplay with "Al" signed on it thinking it was Al Pacino but in fact it was the director name Al. also PSA is just a 3rd party "opinion". a collectors faith in PSA is what you base the authenticity of the signature off of. no way the signature is 100% fool proof as PSA is just a 3rd party opinion. its always good to get opinions from different experts in the field.
Can you imagine going to buy groceries and the cashier start telling you the history of your food “ the first burger was flipped in 1472 in mr brooks backyard,...
Peanut Butter because auctions can also low ball you too. Say two people want an item. The item is work 100k. One had 30, and the other had 31. They will fight but the 31 k will win so you lose value. Plus auction tax. You’ll see like 21 k of it Rick is giving you 100k cash, right there
They will resell that for $150k easy. The guy should have shopped around more especially after what the expert said. At the right auction is could easily fetch upwards of $175k
The appraiser said at a high end action it could be worth 150k remember high end actions take 20% or more. so 20% of 150k = 30k so now the pawn shop only made 20k
Prepper Todd Yes but me personally with something like that and it's historical value you could easily find buyers you wouldn't need an auction that would make it easier but I'd be in no rush to sell it as the value goes up more every year
That's a fair price considering an auction would have wanted 30% (45k) - I'm sure Rick will get a better split from whatever Auction House he goes with - more around the 20% so 30k - meaning Rick gets to make 20k.
If its worth around 150k selling it to a merchant for 100k is pretty fair. If you bringt it to an auction yourself you have to pay commision, insurance and other stuff. And if very few people are interested in the item, you could get significantly less than the estimated value. The thing is, he wouldve probably found a better private offer, just because of the exposure by this show.
I'm always confused by people who say "I'm going to sell X and then use the money to buy more X memorabilia." A lot of this stuff seems like it would be the crown jewel of someone's collection.
ohhhhh you're one of those? well congratulations on correcting my grammar. you must of been that loser in school too busy contemplating about shooting it up that you missed out on the part in History or social studies class saying that USA is a melting pot of ethnicities. loser...you started a completely irrelevant argument to the video. go sit down somewhere homeboy you might get beat up.
I wouldn't have taken anything less than $125,000 that splits the difference between 100k and 150k and it is a small item that won't take up space. Also in high demand will be easy to sell.
I went to Indianaplis for a field trip and I got to go in a president's old house and Lincon wrote him a note and I got to see his handwriting and everything it was so cool!

Rick is a knowitall.
@@markinnes4264 It's on the History channel. And some people actually like to learn :)

Jajajajajajaaj I think the same😂😂
Because he still was asking for lower than the card’s actually worth lol that’s why rick didn’t hesitate
I don’t watch for the drama, I watch for the artifacts.

PSA is no guarantee. its just a 3rd party opinion.
It looked like one of the known signatures might have been from the same card
Measuring angles with a ruler and not a protractor too, this show can't even fake stuff convincingly.
