I've been on the internet way too much lately, so I've been practicing some ways I can be more mindful with my usage.

Hey everyone. My name is Nicholas and I make videos most about my experiences with minimalism, frugal living, tech, and things of that nature 🌱. So if that sounds good to you consider subscribing and I'll see you in the next one ✏️ - Навчання та стиль
Thanks. I started digital minimalism 5 days ago. Signed out of social media platform, cleaned subscription on YT. Switched off unwanted notifications. I can see improvement in sleep , mindfulness improved , stared reading the book I kept aside. I think we as human are overloaded with tech. If you are financially sound then we buy more gadget to consume more information that increases anxiety, want to be the one with all answers in the room. I can see good change in me since I started 4 days ago.
This is a subject I became interested in recently, when I realized the amount of time I've been wasting doom scrolling instead of doing my favorite hobbies: reading, creating music and drawing. The ideas you shared are going to help me wean from the screen. Thank you!
The main issue is that a lot of people can't stand boredom. I say, embrace boredom. I believe that boredom makes you creative, focused and more productive.
@@RideOnTimePH outdoor walks are the best when you want think things over.
I’m a bit ashamed to think about how much time I’ve wasted in front of a screen. It’s easy to blame it on all the distractions out there, but ultimately, it’s on me to disconnect. Thanks for the motivation, Nick 🖤
We’ve all been there mate!
Hey Nick! This is my second comment on your channel overall, my first one was suggesting a phone update video idea.
I've discovered your channel about a month ago, and I've been really enjoying everything you produced, old and new videos alike. It's obvious that you put a lot of effort and intention into your cinematography, and I also like the simple format you present your ideas in. And, of course, I do very much enjoy how you speak and little jokes sprinkled throughout the videos.
Thank you very much for your work! I hope this channel will grow even more than it does now and I hope you will bless us with a lot more content.
You've become one of my favorite channels as of late.
That's really generous, thanks so much! I'm glad you're enjoying them and I appreciate you being here 🙏
Love this :) So true about multitasking
Loved this video! I’ve been trying to implement digital minimalism myself so this came at the perfect time. 👌🏼👌🏼
Hopefully this helps, thanks as always!
As always, enjoyed the content. Appreciate your humor and the easter eggs throughout.
Thank you Amy!
"Multitasking is not a real thing" - this is so relatable, I'm a self-aware guilty of this bad practice too.
P.S. Interesting to see you are reading GRRM :)
Huge fan of his and most of his books!
@@NicholasGarofola Same here !!
This is something I needed. Thank you
This is one of my favorite videos of yours. I did not expect that. Great content, as usual.
Thank you Sara, glad you liked this one 😊
Great video Nick!! Thanks for sharing dude
Thanks Buddy!!
Love the intro for your videos. Really enjoy the content you are making. Keep it up!
Thanks so much!
That last shot of you skating beside a lake looked amazing Nicholas!
Thanks!
Beside how much I enjoy your content, I really enjoy your vibe, thank you❤
I appreciate that!
Great insights as usual (and great book btw :P )
Glad you enjoyed it!
I totally resonate with the analog activities one, like cooking and preparing ingredients.
Totally!
I stopped watching Matt but continued watching this channel
Hahaha me too. I think Matt is the contrast of minimal. Too much clutter and I really hate people talking too fast.
Same
Who is this Matt you speak of?
Same. I don't like Matt's energy. He's too loud and bouncy now. That could change tho they just had a kid.🤔
@@amymaude5798Matt D'Avella, the filmmaker behind The Minimalists' two documentaries.
Excellent advice, have always gone one job at a time, well done again 👍👍👍
Thanks!
Hi, just found your channel. Your thumbnails are gorgeous and remind me of a million different movies. Can't wait to watch more of your videos. Hope you have a lovely day :)
Thanks so much!!
Great advice on decluttering digital space, too many times did I have too much stuff saved multiple times. Felt great sorting it all out.
Gotta say I love your watch mate, can’t beat the analog face.
Great video again man, and loved that drone shot near the end! 🛹
I genuinely feel bad when I stay at home during a beautiful day. A voice in the back of my head is telling me to get the hell out there and do SOMETHING. Be it riding the bicycle, running, hiking or just laying at the river and reading a book. I honestly understand your point.
Thanks Nicholas! I'm Watching From India ✨
現在的人只關注一件事真的需要練習
講求快的時代,大家都在學一心如何多用
也難怪大家的注意力很容易被分散~~
Can you do a full house tour? Love your room tour!
Maybe one day!
I had an I phone SE. Did me fine as I use it for calls (remember when that was an essential feature to using a mobile?) and app usage. I have an I pad for any bigger tasks and a a Mac for anything major. Works for me and with the new 13 I bought, I manage two days of battery life.
The cover of this video is just 🔥.
My phone is full of videos and photos since I love photography, but now I try to declutter them by doing 30 days digital declutter. I can declutter photos for 20 days now.
Love that intro! Deep video ❤ keep it coming brother
You're the best man 🙏 Hope all is well!!
I definitely go through phases with my screen time (though i'm not too active on SM, I keep falling into the pattern of reaching for a screen for no reason) and I find myself needing a reset constantly. Ironically I find when I'm travelling (which has been a bit lately!) it "messes up" because I'm out of a normal routine! Not sure if that's just a me thing though... great vid as always!
Interesting, I find I’m on everything a lot less when I’m traveling. I guess it depends if you like your destination 😅 thank you as always!
@@NicholasGarofola i think for me its the fact that im out of a routine and dealing with the unfamiliarity of a new location! im a huge routine person so when travelling its completely thrown out the window and puts me off! super weird i know 😅
Single-tasking is the thing. I can focus at hand and finish tasks on time.
I like to unplug (in a way) by listening to self-help channels like yours and focus on the words. I don't watch the video part and concentrate on the message. When my mind wanders I rewind a bit and go again.
Remove any apps from your phone that have a 'feed', and set notifications for those that you can't lose, like email. I often pick my phone up idly, only to realise there's nothing to look at...
Do you watch K-dramas? If yes, what's your favorite one?
Great video, as always!
Haha I’m curious too ❤
Currently watching King the Land!
@@NicholasGarofola Yayy❤️
@@NicholasGarofolaThe trailer looked promising, gotta check it out then haha!
@@NicholasGarofoladidn't know you're into Kdramas too. Also watching King the Land currently. Saranghaeyo Nick!
Make a video on kitchen minimalism, what are the utensils u used in your kitchen
Will do soon!
Hi Nicholas! I hope you're well, I think a great product that you should review is the Light Phone 2 :)
I do think it's a great idea!
Disabling notification on certain applications is also handy.
Also, Nic, can I ask what camera and lens you mainly use for your videos?
Underrated channel
Hey Nick, cheers from Argentina. I love your videos (the quality, the peace they bring and of course the content itself). I'm a freelancer graphic designer & small business owner (i'm currently doing craft binding) and I use Instagram a lot as well as WS business and other apps. I've disabled all notifications but anyway I find myself check in in all the time. I really don't like social media, but I'm learning community management and social media management 'cause of my SB and another side project which is pro bono (an ice hockey federation here in Argentina, this sport gave me so much that this is my way to give back, to use my skills to reach other people) and I have to spend lots of time inside my phone. I started my way on minimalism few years ago but I find it really difficult to apply in some aspects of my life (tech being one of them). Would you give me some advice on how to deal with social medial when you have to work with it?
Thanks in advance
I think if it helps your business do it! I think it’s about having some self control and not letting it consume your time and energy if that makes sense.
@@NicholasGarofola Thank you for your input, self control is such a big area to work in. Thanks again!
chose to opt for the roundhouse kick to the subscribe button instead
I've realized I always find a way to stick around to my phone even during analog activities:
I love cooking but I'm always following a recipe or a video with instructions.
I frequent the gym but I'm too lazy too memorize my routine so I'm always accessing it on my phone (and of course there's always a notification that will distract me).
I'm not a professional chef or bodybuilder and I'm still perfecting my skills on both activities, which is why I feel "safer" with my phone around.
The only solution I can think of is writing the recipe(or routine) down in a piece of paper. Any tips?
I only multitask depending on it’s priority. I don’t have 3 screens yet, but I would probably divide them. Desktop would be for work, tablet for entertainment, and phone for outside. The apps on the tablet would have short time limits. The phone would only have the essentials, no entertainment due to being outside. Work computer would have longer time limits. Hitting the limits on the tablet would tell me to go outside or spend time on projects.
Putting a towel underneath the cutting board will help cut down the rocking. Not as aesthetic tho. Love your vids.
Good point 😂
Hey what is the Name of the UA-camr who referred to Multitasking? Regards
Lana Blakey, great channel
what kind of diet do you follow?
High protein low fat 😄
@@NicholasGarofola cool. do a video on some simple meals.
0:04 So you actually started rinsing your coffee filters :) that felt like those games you affect the storyline by making choices :D
Gotta disagree with multi-tasking tho; It is ineffective, exhausting and pointless for many people indeed, but for people like me, it is almost a necessity. Without some enjoyable distractions, I immediately lose focus on the task out of boredom, yet multi-tasking does the job well when I like at least one of the tasks.
P.S: Letting your hair grow looks great on you, keep it up!
Hey to each our own. And thanks for the coffee tip! As far as the hair, thanks again!
YES,STARFIELD!
I'm stoked for it!
🙂
u look so great
I would like to see the video split into sections. That would be great if you know what I mean. :D

Boredom, this is one's individual perception and choice word. Get off the digital world and get creative with yourself and life. I'm an old school guy and find it pathetic that people live on their phones/lap tops and become their crutch. Your 'real' life is passing you by and one day you will have many regrets. Videos, Tik Tok, etc. are short lived, so you saw a 'funny' 'entertaining' video, etc. two minutes later you couldn't begin to remember it. Get a life people!!!
Do you have social media
I don’t
