Also would suggest that a small fan, such as is used in Power Supply in Computer be fitted in Compressor Compartment on Refrigerator and wired across Compressor Circuit so that it works when compressor works. There WILL be INSUFFICIENT VENTILATION for Refrig to operate effectively the way I see you are building it in. Especially if you get to tropical or equatorial areas!
I missed four episodes because I was busy working in an off-grid area, you guys made a lot of progress.. I really enjoyed watching the episodes in one sitting, and by the way, you are a skilled plumber Chris, you did a very nice job under the kitchen, I can't believe you put the air conditioning, boiler and filters in these Narrow space without complicating access. I can't wait to watch the next episode. Kind regards. Your Sudanese friend/fan.
Kia ora guys, just a thought with the hot water service. If you are heating it up with the engine coolant through the heat exchanger- if it doesn't make 60 degrees it can grow bacteria. "The temperature of your storage water tank should be kept at a minimum of 60 degrees at all times (but not delivered to taps at above 50 degrees). This is to prevent legionnaires disease which can become very serious. Legionnaires can be contracted by inhaling droplets of contaminated water" As per google. Might be worth putting in something to monitor the temp. Also, your water pump is self-priming (I have the same one in my van) and can be used to collect water from a river using a hose and your inline filter. Wouldnt be difficult to work into your system with a valve or 2- Would mean you could top up your tank on the fly in the bush. Makes for longer showers haha We watch your vids every week guys, always motivating. Can't wait to see ya's back traveling again. Chur!
Chris you may have to for large 30-40mm washers under the floor when fitting things to the floor. Also lather in silicon for dust proofing and trim off when dry. Most good camper builders use these techniques.
There should be some gap between the tpo of the fridge and the roof to prevent overheating and let the fridge work efficiently. You can also make a vent through the wall somewhere near the top of the fridge.
Great build guys..... Nothing better than DIY, easier to chase issues later if they pop up and you have a great understanding of the system. I notice the double outdoor GPO's in the under sink compartment look like they are the Delta brand? If you haven't already the 240V needs to have double pole switching (Active and Neutral) on mobile equipment . Looking good.... Getting pretty close now!
Guys everything is look great 👍. Chris, consider labeling your plumbing lines… Make some dust/debris covers for those 2 inlet manifolds @ 18:49 that are through the floor.
Un vrai escargot cet unimog, avec une si belle cellule sur le dos😉 Bravo pour votre travail ! Quand la passion de l'Unimog nous amène à nous dépasser !
Hey Chris and Ange you should be able to swap the fridge door hinges over so it opens from the kitchen side, hope this helps. Also what others have said about the compressor vibration and ventilation but I’m sure you guys are all over it :)
Just a small suggestion any saddle that is holding a rubber or plastic hose place some rubber around the hose. Just the day-to-day vibration from the vehicle could wear a hole through the hose. Even just using some heavy-duty cloth tape like Gaffa could help avoid you springing a leak. And the same thing for that hose clamp you have on the Hot water service and return mixer line. My background is a mechanic for 20 years and a passionate offroader plus I'm about to start my own Unimog build into an expedition vehicle.
A little research and a lot of hard work goes a long way (or vice versa). It is clear that you both are very passionate about this project and it shows. It's amazing the variety of jobs and knowledge + experience gained through a project like this. So fun to be along for the ride (so to speak). Best wishes for the 4WD Adventure show!
The dampening hose after the water pump is interesting - I have an 'accumulator' to stop water hammer or to just ensure the water flows at constant speed (and no spluttering) when the taps are on. Be very interested to see how well this works. Also the water 'gauge' is genius - must look into this as I have a large rectangular tank that lays flat and its hard to establish how full the tank is! it only needs to be slightly out of level and it's impossible to get an accurate gauge of how full it is...... brilliant video as always :)
Well done on the plumbing job. Sounds like you put a lot of thought and planning into it. Will make life on the road so much more comfortable. Keep it up!
I love watching this series guys! You just nail the videos and present so well! Giving everything a crack yourselves is a credit! Can’t wait to see the finished result and maybe one day pass the big rig on the road! 👌🏽✌🏽
Who needs instructions when you have "Angeneer" drawings? It looks less like a project and more like a Motorhome, you even have a pet now. ¡PURA VIDA!! Oy, Oy, Oy mates!!!
Wow! Y'all are crushing it! I love the progress y'all are making. The plumbing looks well thought out and implemented. Ange, if you picked out the flooring and walls, well done! Looks so great. Couple of suggestions if I may; Label your ball valves and put a filter on the water tank breather and caps for the town water inputs. Cheers!
Might be a good idea to put some large fender washers on the mounting bolts for the hot water tank so they don’t pull threw the floor. Also some sealer to keep water out of the wood floor.
looks awesome! However, i’d put that pressure relief valve outside. 1. they ALL leak. I have not found one that doesn’t leak at least a little constantly. if it’s inside you have a wet floor. 2. if it blows off or you need to release it, it will flood your compartment. so best to put an elbow on it and run down out the floor, then attach outside. just my thoughts! great work!
Great progress on the mog , my suggestion is to seal the water inlet under the mog to stop dirt/mud ingress between fills. You two are doing a great job on this build .
Re the water filters on the wall…. Our experience is that they will be quite heavy with water in them and the vehicle vibration will strain and eventually break the mounting point. May I suggest putting a removable (so you can change them) support under them. We have dense foam between the bottoms of our filters and the support to cushion the vibration a bit. We are enjoying watching your build but we are a bit envious.😀
Looks awesome guys! Hey that topagee water meter looks the same as what I installed in my camper. If it is in pretty sure you need a good straight section before and after the impeller for it to read correctly. Hopefully not the case for yours, just thought I'd mention as you wanted feedback :)
I’m really loving this series. I’m way behind you guys with my truck camper build but it keeps me motivated through the less fun jobs :-) I have the same water filter and UV system in my caravan . I don’t know if it the order matters but mine has a 5 micron pre filter, then the UV Steriliser, and finally a 1 micron carbon filter.
Wow thats some serious work you guys have been putting in! Starting to look like a home in there. If I'm in Perth for the show I'll definitely come down and say gday. Well done legends and keep up the hard work!
What a great build guys. You've both worked so hard and it looks incredible. That plumbing is sophisticated stuff. Sorry I can't advise on that but it looks good to me. I would screw some brackets around fridge feet. I know it's jammed in tight but corrugations could see it walking its way off the edge?? Look froward to seeing you all at the show. Marty from Perth
You need to leave some space between the cabin and the fridge compressor to efficiently regulate the heat in the condenser. The fridge feet has to be levelled properly too. Since this is a floor standing fridge there should be some sort of vibration damper.
Has the fridge got enough airflow around it and the back, it’s needs plenty of space for ventilation of the condenser on the back for it to work properly?
I found you guys as I was looking for some Unimog off-roading and stayed for the progress. Great to see how well things have come along. Also, I know I’m a bit late, however you may also have been hacked via an email that looked like it was from an advertiser. This has been going on for quite sometime now and it by passes 2factor authentication and is know as session hijacking. Always check the extension of any file you’ve downloaded before running it. ThioJoe and The PC security channel have great vids on this. Hope this helps, cheers.
240v fridge maybe cheap but it will cost more in the long run 240 requires 4x more power from your battery so 8 amps 240 will be 32 amps 12v day and night big drain on your battery
Hi I appreciate your concern - I have fitted a 240v fridge to my camper build and I was vey concerned about why no one else did it and researched it to death - I eventually fitted one and its worked perfectly - you lose some efficiency through the inverter but a 50 watt fridge is using 50 watts regardless of how it's connected .... maybe add a bit for the inefficiency of using the inverter..... but the gas/ 12v / 240v camper fridges of the past are nom longer relevant.... they were needed before the days of low power consumption fridges. Also the 12v versions work very differently and in hot environments they do not get down to a 'fridge' temperature. The other concern was moving a fridge when it hasn't been turned off and left to settle for hours - this apparently is only relevant if you lay it totally on its side you bounce them around and lean them side to side to quite an extreme before they are an issue.... I have had a 'live aboard' barge running a 240v fridge for three years and a camper con version for 18 months with no issues.
wow so much progression guys , we are loving the build, your a very talented couple . Love to meet you at the 4wd show but we are stuck in Saudi for now untill WA gets its act togehter and opens up. Cheers from 2 west aussies in Saudi
Great build, love the progress, just a thought re the intercooler in the hws, if it sits any higher than the rest of the mogs cooling system, bleeding the air out of it to eliminate an airlock could be an issue maybe? I drove those things for 10 years in the army but I wasn't a mechanic back then so I dont know how efficient the water pump will be at circulating it, but as a thought, if you have trouble achieving flow a simple cooling system pressure test pump will push any air out of the system if you have problems. Keep up the good work :)
Been following since ya'll started on the mog. The one problem I see if you are worried about leaks and want to be able to isolate on of the tanks as far as I understand it you can't because the water has a single path. If you have a leak on the drivers side tank, i didn't see any way to isolate tha tank and use the water from the passenger side tank directly. (Vice versa if the passenger side tank shows a leak, you have to fill through the passenger side tank to fill the drivers side tank) Thought I'd point out this possible future headache.
I would suggest wrapping the pipes in some sort of insulation especially for taps. This prevents your pipes/taps from cracking in sub-zero temperatures if you guys were to ever drive the mog to
Wow - huge progress. Am sure it is not all as we see it and can be very frustrating but the end game is that you know your own system and can fault find and fix it yourselves. Looking so good now with some finishing touches in the mix. It may have been answered already so apologies - but what did you go with for baffles in the water tanks?
Thanks Andre! Of course there are some frustration along the way, we do our best to be transparent but also share our littles victories :) Good question - we have actually decided at this stage to not go with baffles in the water tanks. We had a lot of comments mentioning we probably won't need for the size of our tanks - we'll see how we go and report :)
My only comment is; Label your valves so there is no mistake in the future when you have to trouble shoot. A schematic diagram of the water circuit would be great, before you close up the water heater unit. Like your videos
Loving the vids guys! Just subscribed and binge watched all your vids. Found you guys from doing some research. Am hoping to get a truck in the next couple of years. Keep up the good work Lots of love from Qld
I would love to come to Perth and see you guys but there is one problem, I'm 9228 miles ( 14,851.3 Kilometers ) as the crow fly's from Portland, Oregon USA to Perth so I kind of don't think I will be able to make it this time. But other then that the MOG looks great
Netflix is now closing any accounts that try to access the movie site with a VPN, this is just starting in America and will roll out world wide. So be careful . Love how the mog is taking shape, your doing a great job. CHEERS Steve h.
Does the heat exchanger have a thermal cut off? otherwise it could just be boiling all your water to steam and out the pressure relief valve as you drive.
Am pretty sure most fridges now you can swap the hinge sides on the door so it opens up from the right side not the left side. Might be bit more easier for you guys
Thanks for the video, I am waiting to install water in my camper and I have doubts about using this system or 10mm and 16mm thick braided hose. Given your experience, what do you recommend? Thank you
Guy's have you thought about running a heater hose into your shower cubicle, this can then be used as a drying room should you have bad weather or for wet suits
Hope you planning on lots of solar and batteries you going to need it for all the appliances and particularly the 220v fridge which will draw twice as much current than a 12v fridge. Otherwise great job it's is coming together very nicely.
Great progress so far guys... Long shot but might half to put taps on vent pipe on water tanks.. while driven of road a good lean.. but all looks good 👍 gota love AC🥶
Was thinking along similar lines regarding vents but more of a u bend or one way / filter to stop stuff coming back in ? might be ahead of me looking at length of pipes might incorporating a U bend in final routing of flexi pipe. I might be barking up the wrong tree , but its idea.
So do I understand this correctly Chris. If you fill up your tanks from a water source you don't trust, that water will not run through the filters and uv filter before reaching your tanks?
looks great guys, does the hot water cylinder have and electric element in it aswell? or does it only use the heat from the motor? would be interesting to see how well it holds its heat if you havnt been driving for a couple of days
Hey Outfitters! Loving the content, Does the hot water system, thats hooked up to the radiator, Does the hot water get hot enough for the vehicle to idle?? Or it has to be propper driving for hot water system to get hot enough?

You guy’s make a great couple. I can see why you have so many subscribers. I’m glad to be one of them, and I especially love the Unimog.
Oh thanks Sean, that is a very nice comment! Thank you so much for subscribing and watching :)
Chris you may have to for large 30-40mm washers under the floor when fitting things to the floor. Also lather in silicon for dust proofing and trim off when dry. Most good camper builders use these techniques.
The Bowser build is coming along great guys!!
Thanks for watching Wayne!
Make up a cap for you water connections underneath the camper, so no dirt, dust or bugs decide to camp there and end up in the water tanks
Grear effort guys glad to see you are still smiling
Great progress. We’ll be sure to see you at the show. Very exciting.
Thanks Elle! So cool to hear you can make it - see you then 😀
There should be some gap between the tpo of the fridge and the roof to prevent overheating and let the fridge work efficiently. You can also make a vent through the wall somewhere near the top of the fridge.
Congratulations guys .. it’s getting so close so exciting !! And excited to see you at the show woo hoo
Are you coming?? Would be so nice to see you there 😀

How good is that guys? it was awesome seeing the two of you with a renewed enthusiasm for the build and the progress is obvious. Well done.
Thank you for the kind & encouraging words and ongoing support! We definitely feel way more motivated since we came back from our trip :)

Thanks a lot Torrey for watching this long video :) It's really nice to hear you found the detailed overview useful!
Well done on the plumbing job. Sounds like you put a lot of thought and planning into it. Will make life on the road so much more comfortable. Keep it up!
Thanks a lot Rhys! A lot of research involved that's for sure. Can't wait for the first shower and the first dishes 😄

Ahah Angeneer, I love it! Kitchen will look better than my drawing, I swear 😅 thank you so much for your ongoing support! PURA VIDA!
Wow, leaps and bounds, amazing the difference that flooring n wall panels make. Really good job on the plumbing
Thank you very much Sean for your comment, glad you like it as much as we do :)
I get amazed every week by the effort that you guys put in. Reall well worth watching!
Thank you so much Joseph for all your positive comments, always a pleasure to read them :)

Please get a set of spanners. Is there enough ventilation space around fridge for refrig to operate effectively.Read manual. Great vid.
Really looking the part now. The technicalities are being mastered - well done!
Thank you so much Benny - it's hard to tick all the boxes but we are doing our very best :)
Great video guys! We can't wait to see the finished product!
Really coming along now, great work guys, amazing
Thank you so much for your support Stuart :)
Awesome work people
Thank you very much Michael!
Nice work , I used 40 x40 just for the bed frame the rest is out of 20x20 more than strong enough.
Awesome progress and craftsmanship!
Thanks Daniel, really appreciate!
That was a massive plumbing job and it looks like you’ve got this sorted.
You guys don’t hang around 😁 great progress, it looks better and better!
Thank you so much for following along and for your encouraging words :)
Consider using Nyloc ( self locking) nuts on the water tank straps.......
Might be a good idea to put some large fender washers on the mounting bolts for the hot water tank so they don’t pull threw the floor. Also some sealer to keep water out of the wood floor.
looks awesome! However, i’d put that pressure relief valve outside. 1. they ALL leak. dream team at it again yewww
Maybe add some porous bronze filters to your water tank vent hoses. This will stop dust and bugs getting into your tanks.
Great progress on the mog , my suggestion is to seal the water inlet under the mog to stop dirt/mud ingress between fills.
You two are doing a great job on this build .
You guys are doing great! Keep up the good work, much respect from the USA.
Thanks Kevin for watching all the way from the USA!
Great work guys.
Thanks a lot for watching Gary!
Well done on what you are doing. Top effort on all your plumbing as well very impressive
Thanks a lot Duncan - hopefully the set up works, we are looking forward to testing it :)
Thanks Mark for the comment, that's a great idea!
I see the light at the end of the tunnel, all the way from here in Florida!!!
Thabk you Greg for watching all the way from Florida!
Bravo ! Lots and lots of hard work is coming together nicely. Cant wait to see you both be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Thank you so much for your kind comment, really appreciate :)
Looking good Guys, I must say everything that you do is very neat and professional. Great job.
Thanks again for your comments, it's really encouraging!
Looks awesome guys! Hey that topagee water meter looks the same as what I installed in my camper. If it is in pretty sure you need a good straight section before and after the impeller for it to read correctly. Hopefully not the case for yours, just thought I'd mention as you wanted feedback :)
Happy for you guys, amazing progress looks fantastic
Thank you very much for watching Tony!
I’m really loving this series. I’m way behind you guys with my truck camper build but it keeps me motivated through the less fun jobs :-)
I have the same water filter and UV system in my caravan . I don’t know if it the order matters but mine has a 5 micron pre filter, then the UV Steriliser, and finally a 1 micron carbon filter.
Telling my wife your my new favourite coupe! was Chris ever in the ARMY? looks like he was or is. from Melbourne Australia
Wow thats some serious work you guys have been putting in! Starting to look like a home in there. If I'm in Perth for the show I'll definitely come down and say gday. Well done legends and keep up the hard work!
Thank you so much Michael for your kind words! Hope you can make it to the show :)
Great vid guys. Chris, doing a great job flying blind. It’s a learning thing, I am learning with you, ready for my build when it happens.
Thanks a lot Jeramie! That's so nice to hear we can somehow help others a little with their own build. Looking forward to seeing your Mog progress :)
Nice video. I would have loved to come to that 4wd thing, but alas I can not. Have a great time there. Live confidently and peacefully
I love watching you guys with this build you should be so proud of yourselves 👍🍺🍺
Thank you so much Anthony! We are proud of our recent progress, hopefully we can keep the momentum going :)
Has the fridge got enough airflow around it and the back, it’s needs plenty of space for ventilation of the condenser on the back for it to work properly?
BABY BATH! Wait what did I miss? I have been off here for a while but geez!
Just future proofing :)

Been following since ya'll started on the mog. TLDR: there's no way to completely isolate the freshwater tanks
I would suggest wrapping the pipes in some sort of insulation especially for taps. This prevents your pipes/taps from cracking in sub-zero temperatures if you guys were to ever drive the mog to
Weather looks great in Perth, an early spring 👍
Awesome job guys! Getting so much work done and getting ever so close to finishing 💪🏻🍻👌🏻
Thank you so much for watching! Getting closer and closer to the finish line :)
I would put a wire mesh or some type of screen for that breather/overflow hose so no bugs get into your water.
If you look closely at 18:49 we have actually done that (lighting on the clip wasn't great!).
@@TheOutFit Iol! I can't believe missed that. I must be blind!

Bonjour, BRAVO magnifique installation très bien conçue pour avoir de l’eau bien désinfectée. Tout est fait a la perfection.
Merci Jean-Claude pour votre gentil commentaire - ca fait plaisir de lire du francais!
It’s coming up really nice guys very good 👍
Great job, gotta love Bunnings
Thanks Kevin! We would be lost without Bunnings ahah
My only comment is; Label your valves so there is no mistake in the future when you have to trouble shoot. A schematic diagram of the water circuit would be great, before you close up the water heater unit. Like your videos
Thanks Frank! Good idea about labelling the valves, especially for me (Ange) it will be quite helpful :)
Thanks for the video. May I know.. What's the name of that wall cladding? - been searching the bunnings website.
Thanks for watching! It's called PermaTimber Quickboard Composite Lining.
@@TheOutFit Thank you!!
Loving the vids guys!
Just subscribed and binge watched all your vids.
Found you guys from doing some research.
Am hoping to get a truck in the next couple of years.
Keep up the good work
Lots of love from Qld
Thanks a lot for subscribing, legend! A lot more to come, all the best for your project :)
I would love to come to Perth and see you guys but there is one problem, I'm 9228 miles ( 14,851.3 Kilometers ) as the crow fly's from Portland, Oregon USA to Perth so I kind of don't think I will be able to make it this time. But other then that the MOG looks great
Hopefully we make it to Oregon one day! Thanks Daniel for watching all the way from there :)
Nice work GUYS CHEERS👌
Thank you for watching Tony! :)

Thank you so much! Can't wait to get started on the bed/couch area :)
Netflix is now closing any accounts that try to access the movie site with a VPN, this is just starting in America and will roll out world wide. So be careful . Love how the mog is taking shape, your doing a great job. CHEERS Steve h.
thank you for the great video as great watching every time
Thank you Robert for following along! :)
good vid keep up the good work on the truck you doing stay safe lee
Thanks for watching Lee!
Does the heat exchanger have a thermal cut off? otherwise it could just be boiling all your water to steam and out the pressure relief valve as you drive.
make sure you use nyloc nuts on the water heater bolts, standard nuts will come loose and fall off
I wish we could make it to the show but being in Qld bit far to go until next year! Enjoy take care
That's fair enough! Hopefully when we make it yo QLD we can meet you then and show you Bowser 😀 thanks for the support guys!
Hi, you must have enjoyed fitting a lot of equipments inside your rig, just can’t imagine where are you going to sleep comfortably??
wooooow nice job guys!!
Thank you so much for watching :)
Am pretty sure most fridges now you can swap the hinge sides on the door so it opens up from the right side not the left side. Might be bit more easier for you guys
Hi Mirza - Chris tried but it's impossible with this model unfortunately.
@@TheOutFit oh man that's got to suck, love the build so far
I always look forward to your vids! great job! keep it up!
Thanks a lot for following along!
Thanks for the video, I am waiting to install water in my camper and I have doubts about using this system or 10mm and 16mm thick braided hose. Given your experience, what do you recommend? Thank you
We have been using our camper everyday for the last 6 months and we have had no issues at all with the plumbing with John Guest 👍
Guy's have you thought about running a heater hose into your shower cubicle, this can then be used as a drying room should you have bad weather or for wet suits
Probably wouldn't need to run the hose into the bathroom - in such a small space we can just leave the bathroom door opened :)
Hope you planning on lots of solar and batteries you going to need it for all the appliances and particularly the 220v fridge which will draw twice as much current than a 12v fridge. Otherwise great job it's is coming together very nicely.
Solar install in next episode, stay tuned :)
It all goes through one filter. The others are only for kitchen usage, UV only for drinking etc tap.
Sick
looks great guys, does the hot water cylinder have and electric element in it aswell? or does it only use the heat from the motor? would be interesting to see how well it holds its heat if you havnt been driving for a couple of days
Thanks Blair! The hot water heat is also electric 👍 we are looking forward to sharing the results once we test it properly!
Hey Outfitters!
Loving the content,
Does the hot water system, thats hooked up to the radiator,
Does the hot water get hot enough for the vehicle to idle??
Or it has to be propper driving for hot water system to get hot enough?
Are powering the camper of batteries?
