Maxor's editing is so epileptic on main that he has actually convinced at _least_ two(2) human men that Monster Hunter takes place in an alternate Australia. Honestly, if the movie went with that it might've been good.
well you guys did the thing you mentioned it's "souls like" which is a fair guess but, let me point out when demon souls (the first souls) launched there where japanese reviewers saying "it's a good monster hunter like game". because monster hunter is fucking ancient, the series started like 2004 and it has been huge only in Japan until MH: World, that one did great everywhere and is the most selling game in the history of Capcom.(it completely overhsadows the last resident evil games and street fighters together in sales)
for a bit of perspective on why its a time sink, a single hunt can go from 7 to 30 min. depending on how well you do. some players do speed clears that are like 40 seconds to 2 min. but on average if you're fighting a big dangerous monster for the first time the time it takes to bring it down is like 10 to 30 min. and most of the time you'll need to kill this thing like 5 to 10 times to make a full armor set plus weapon made from it. as someone who loves the series and has 1,300 hours in just World/Iceborne (iirc i had 2,000 hours in MH: Tri) the games are a bit repetitive but its the excitement of learning the monsters body language and attack patterns and do some flashy cool moves while dancing through its attempts to kill you. also, the game devs say they start with a location/ biome then start to create monsters that would most likely live there. some monsters are invasive and migrate to places they shouldn't be. which is why they show up in alot of hunts. In most Monster Hunter games we're like park rangers trying to keep the ecosystem in balance.
@Blood Farts for all of twice you manage to land it per mission, imma be honest the Greatsword is garbage, my limp dick has more power, range and utility. Over time I just got used to all of its drawbacks.
general info about the game: yes its a grind at times for specific skillgems or monsterparts but if u got the time, about 200-300 hours if u really wanna see, do and experience it well enough, then u will be amazed by amazing and rare content behind every little bush at all ingame daytimes and weathers, by the multitude of events and seasonal activities, the mastercrafted monstermusic and franchise/public favorite Elder Dragons. I myself have over 500 hours and havent fully completed it, but i would recommend it anytime anyday since its one of those games u would have to have played in your lifetime its so good( except the handler can be a bit dense at times but thats the game and for that we have mods)
The cat suit I think was or is part of an event and when I first started playing world it was on her and stayed on the whole playthrough. The game really was not able to be taken seriously
The entire MH series isn't really meant to be taken seriously, I mean, in previous games our characters flex after drinking a potion, we literally run like hell and dive to avoid big damage, and basically no one is afraid or threatened of the monsters.
The game only gets repetitive in the sense that you become a better hunter. You're familiar with the areas, the behaviors, move patterns etc, but there's always something that goes differently, be it an uninvited monster, other players' shenanigans, harder versions of the monsters...
@@MichaelCHyatt Well it was very niche here in the west (was big on japan though) and it focused a lot in releasing in handhelds like the PSP, some of the home console games never got localized and later exclusively in the 3DS and Nintendo consoles like the Wii and Wii U. It was not until MH World (the one on this video) which is fairly recent and clearly made with bringing new people in mind (big overhaul to visuals, map design and it being a bit less cartoony plus a whole new continent so there isn't much story baggage from previous games) that the franchise exploded here in the west. So its not really surprising you didn't know about it. Few people did.

As for Dark Soul comparisons.....honestly MH feels even more Dark Souls than Dark Souls. Dark Souls you can level up to reduce difficulty in addition to better gear and learning the patterns, but in monster hunter you can ONLY get better gear and learn the patterns...and you have to kill said monsters in the first place to CRAFT said gear. The items you can buy are the bare-bones basic versions of starter equipment in case you accidentally sold all your weapons and needed a new one to start upgrading with (excluding Iceborne (the expansion) specific items, which are massively powerful if used in normal World Content, since they were added so people who wanted to could immediately jump into Iceborne content which is a MASSIVE step up in difficulty from Normal World End-game, and are comparable to end-game World items in terms of strength)).
as for the repetitive part, yes it's part from learning the monsters fights, but the other part is the gear building and the combat itself. the combat is weird to get used too at the start but once it clicks. it fucking clicks. and will probably mess up other action RPGs for you guys because of how good the movesets on all the weapons are.
I agree on the combat clicking. I tried the 4 Ultimate demo back when it first dropped, and I hated it because I couldn’t figure it out. Once my brother convinced me to try the Generations multiplayer demo later with him, it finally clicked. And I have been a fan of the series ever since, even went back and bought the Tri Ultimate copy and 4U.

Single player with optional Online co-op. It's also the best to get into. World was the first monster hunter that completely removed loading screens for each region. There's a loading screen swapping between regions, but once there, you're good to go (you're also able to go out and explore the world without needing to be a on specific hunt, though world progress is gated by story-progression, so you won't get access to certain areas until you've progressed the story far enough to fully unlock a region and all it's monsters). This was really annoying in prior titles as every tiny little sub-section of a region had to be loaded one at a time (and you HAD to be on a mission to leave town), and it really broke the flow of gameplay (part of this was due to the first games being for PS2, and then languishing on hand-helds and the Wii for nearly a decade, meaning they never really progressed beyond PS2 level hardware capabilities).
I'd be more 'Um, actually' about it...but the original name the developers went with was: The New World Wanna know what they called the land from where they came from? ...The Old World. God, this game is lucky it's stimulating visually and gameplay wise...
I've been playing since Tri (2010ish?), and have been an exclusive solo player. MH really doesn't have much of a story. It's got enough to get you a reason to kill the next thing, but that's about it. 4's about the only exception and has the best MH story by far, but is still barely passable for anything else. My main reason for getting into MH were the monsters. I really love character design, and for believable fantasy animals, very little comes close to MH. MH takes a lot of commitment when you first start playing. It feels awkward and clunky and then you hit a point when you suddenly get it, and the game becomes amazing. It can be painful until that happens though.
As a monster hunter vet, hearing "it looks kinda like dark souls" hurts me. Monster Hunter is the original Souls-like lol (as in it predates the souls series)
I'm playing both Elden Ring and MHW right now and tbh they're nothing alike. 3rd person RPG where you fight big creatures that's about it lol As much as I love Souls I get kinda tired of people comparing every game to them (especially Nioh and MH)

World is an Amazing Game. A lot of the Tryhard Monster Hunter fans Bash it because it was made a lot easier to pick up for new Guys. World is probaply the easiest Monster Hunter to pick up for a newcommer to the series.

Monster Hunter:world + icebourne is probably one of my favourite gaming experiences, fighting cracked out panther dragons is lit. I’ve also put nearly 2000 hours into it 😳
Monster Hunter is really fun up until you reach Alatreon, Safi, and Fatalis. At that point you'll be about 80-100 hours into the game if you did all the optional Low/High/Master quest and then you can start making a proper build for those last 3. I have 216 hours in that game and I don't think I'll ever beat Alatreon with all the new games coming out.
It’s absolutely excellent, if you have the patience for its sloggier moments. I never played a Monster Hunter before World. I use Bow, and have over 4000 hours logged so far - and I haven’t cleared all the content available to me in Iceborne yet, and I still always feel like I’m getting better.
If you are interested in getting a better idea of the feel and draw of monster hunter I recommend watching "ABItorial: Monster Hunter, A Culture Of Danger"

monster hunter is fun.. if you can get yourself a psp and want hardcore difficulty which i was raised in... play the psp monster hunter games. 🤣🤣 but world/iceborn is amazing. rise... its fun 🤣
@@VoidHxnter the difference is that jewels are actual fucking cancer since you might have to farm for 2 or more 0.07% drop percentage jewels, while charms are WAY less important, since you just need a 2 lvl 2 slot for most builds in rise, wich is extremely easy to get. Decoration farming should never come back, it was just a chore and charm farming is just better in every way
If you guys do decide to play Monster Hunter, I suggest Monster Hunter Rise, because the game feels quicker to pick up, gameplay loop feels faster and more mobility options.

Its a 4 player co-op. You can do it solo, but some of the monsters feel designed for a team to maximize any advantage.
