Thanks, Sue. I can’t even express how much I appreciate you for this! You’re the only one I’ve seen showing how to do this job while actually showing the way it’s supposed to be. Others show an idealized install where you just “replace these” and “grease that” without actually saying how it’s all supposed to work together so you can see the pitfalls yourself without bad experiences. I will have my wire brushes ready when I tackle this the first time. :) None of the others I watched even made me aware of the reasons I might want them.
Very very very good advice I installed semi metallic pads and had groan creep Changed them out to ceramic and no more groan creep Thanks for the advice I was was really stumped on what it was
Sometimes people hit or move the backing plate and that can cause rotor noise ... or they install the hardware a bit off make sure it's leveled and in the correct placement a bent hardware piece can scrap the rotor and make sound aswell.
Regardless of pad choice, put a little anti-seize on the back of the pads were they come into contact with the calliper it stops the high frequency vibrations.
I've done my brakes for years and been very thorough but ive never heard anybody explain exactly why i am habitually cleaning the caliper brackets. Thank you this was helpful.
Here's a tip for when you know everything is good with your brakes and rotors, yet there is still screeching, even when not braking: Check the back plates on your pads and make sure the sections that hook on to the brake pad aren't bent outwards, even if it's just barely. Take the plate off and bend it in a little bit, put it back on, put everything back together, and the screech/squealing should be gone.
hell yeah I'm subscribed. Really liked this one. I keep getting the front drivers side squeal after a few times of taking off the calipers and cleaning and jiggling everything. Grrr (2013 outback)
I tried finding a front wheel hub assembly on your site and all it showed me was the rear for a 2012 ford focus. All I need is 1 stud because it broke but they (ford) said I need an entire hub since they don’t fix just the stud so I had to order from some place else 😩.
What are the odds lol my Gf’s car I did the brakes is an HRV and it’s squeaking and realized the pads and hardware wasn’t lubricated so gonna do that tomorrow and hope it goes away!
We all need car lifts in our garage. Much easier to work on your car when not on your knees on concrete floor. I don't have one either but I do have a good mechanic, Thank you Sue.
Whatever you do don't do what I did I replaced Brake Pads only Rotors looked good to me but I was wrong my rotors were junk thus my brand new brake pads became junk as well all because I pad slapped my car and didn't take the time to replace the rotors as well thus I started to have squealing coming from my pads wearing unevenly against my old rotors
My brakes doesn’t squeak when it’s cold but rather when I’m driving for a long time throughout the day. Can’t figure out why and I just had the brakes replaced
Changed break pads a while ago now! But I got that noise! I’m wondering! Can I still use the same pads after cleaning everything out and making sure they’43 sitting correctly?!?..
I have a question - I have an Audi a5 and my pads and disc were changed recently, after the change with new breaks & discs I heard a screeching sound when driving but disappeared when breaking. When I took it back to the garage they did everything again and reset everything, the screech had gone but I noticed both rear wheels were RED HOT!! I took it back to the garage and paid £800 for two new callipers, drove it 8 miles checked the alloys both red hot!! I drive back to the garage and they took it all apart, reset everything again, and still got red hot!! It went back in and both sides had new flux hoses and I’m over a £1000 pound down, new break pads and discs I paid for costing £700 and I still have the same problem !! The garage is acting shady and have no clue what’s wrong with it as everything apparently is in working order !! I’m now booked into official Audi garage and before any maintenance I’m waiting 6 weeks before I can use it to get in and £159 just on a diagnostic!!! I’m nearly on the £2000 make in money and still got the same problem!!
What noise is she talking about? I presume it is the grinding/scraping noise as the vehicle is slowing down and coming to a stop? I have the whining noise that happens as the car accelerates after the stop - is the faint whining noise normal? I just replaced by rotors, calipers and pads and when I slow down or stop there is no noise, just the faint whine.
Never buy pads from the orange/red place all parts are sourced from China. Organic pads make a lot of dust and wear out faster but are the quietest as they are the softest. Semi metallic my favorites make dust wear the rotors faster but stop the best they bite hard. Ceramics cost the most low dust low noise but don't stop good unless pads are hot so more of a track pad. Make sure to use minimum lube on the slide pins and piston calibers. Using lube on pads is rookie mistake.
Hi, I need your help with this automotive question on front brakes. This mechanic had replaced brand new oem toyota front brakes that I brought online at a toyota dealership and I am hearing squeaky noises while stopping. He became very angry that I brought my car in the morning. He forgot that he told me to bring my car in to check it out then he screem at me that and it could be my brand new brakes. Can you please help me deal with mechanic that he is trying to rip me off. He has been in business for years but very manipulative in completing his jobs for me. What should I do regarding this shadie mechanic? Any help would be appreciative. Thank you, Larry
Imagine engineering the brakes with complicated electronics that need to be reset with special tools just for it to still brake poorly and wear unevenly. Maybe the engineering is not the problem, but the maintenance. 🤪

I’ve been dealing with a brake squeak for so long now. No one can tell me what’s going on, all new parts . It’s driving me crazy

Wrong! That’s the moronic advice we don’t wanna see around here
You actually want to use caliper grease, not anti seize. And you want to put it on the caliper piston.
I've done my brakes for years and been very thorough but ive never heard anybody explain exactly why i am habitually cleaning the caliper brackets. Thank you this was helpful.
You are my favorite spokesperson for this channel. I really enjoy the content of your videos. Thank you so much for sharing.
Your guys videos just keep getting better and more informative.
Thanks for the work guys.
If you're in the rust belt put the caliper brackets in bench blaster. Then caliper paint to stop the rust. Otherwise just by new from 1A Auto
Very smart, and helpful mechanic! The best I have seen yet!
This was SO HELPFUL, THANK YOU!! I watched about 7 videos before this and learned almost nothing. This gave me so much to go on :)
Thank You So Much ! ! ! ! I have not done brakes in a while and learned so much from this video and others you made!
This was crazy informative! Also, love the outtakes.
She's very knowledgeable on car . Appreciate ALL tip and trick and looking forward next episode "how Coolant work"😁

+Sequitur Iesus Thanks for the tip!
Excellent analysis and fix explanation once again.
Your videos are very educational. Enjoy very much

Why after I installed my break pads the rotor got stacked in the calipers
This has been a tremendous help. Thank you so much. Your presentation is always well done.
Really great video. Much better than other brake pad videos
nicely done but the most impressive part was how you put the wheel back on without struggling
Best video ever. Got new information. Thank you.

This lady knows her stuff.
I always wear new pads at the beginning of my cycle, those are my heaviest days.
Nice and very informative video. Thanks
She killed this hands down
Nice job
I got a brand new car and I heard this kind of noise. Do you think its just normal for a new car? Thanks
What's the cause of sound at 11 to 12 seconds of the video? Any answer please
Marge Schott now a mechanic ?

Hey I had a question my 2006 Volkswagen Passat says service now. What would the services be?
It should tell you in your owner's manual I believe

I have a ford all I buy is motorcraft
Can't put semi or metallics on an aluminum calipers? Tell that to many manufactures in the past 20yrs...
Ive noticed that is the smallest rotor ive ever seen ! Why? Why is the rotor so small ?
can you put a ceramic pads on an aluminum caliper?
Hi 1A auto! Could you guys PLEASE make a video for replacing the Cam Chain Tensioner for the Audi A4 2005-2008 Series???? Thank you!!

Dude same! A friend just installed my new brakes and they are squealing and screeching really loud, specifically on the driver's side front 😳
I think the non metallic pads will always squeal.
Thank you
❤beautiful curly hair and brown eyes 👀🥰😘thanks for the info 🙏
1:54 what sorcery is this
They're called brake shims.
Kinda Cool seeing a Woman Mexhanic!! 👏 👏 👏 👏
👍🏽
You madam rock!

GREASE THE SHIMS
Good 👍
👍
I love women working on cars she's so 🔥🔥🔥
Using old brake pads is not good. Not a good video
The trick is to win a sizeable lottery.
Then, you move where brakes aren't required.
I like how some people always feel the need to wear gloves 😂
