"What did he say?" "No idea. Then something racist" Is one of my favourite parts, I love every time Mike is trying to interact with the ghosts, it's do adorable how he tried to include them in stuff even though he can't see them.
I love the way he says “Anna-bel”, with such glee. He knows he’s saying it wrong. And I can’t think of a better shorthand intro to a side character, than someone storming in, shouting “bitches” and invading Allison and Mikes space. The character is truely Awful, but the actor comes across as genuinely nice and funny in interviews.
This episode is a classic. Legendary British character actor Geoff McGivern as Barclay here - probably best known as the original (radio) Ford Prefect in The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but has appeared in all sorts of things over the years, including a memorable turn as novelty election candidate Ivor "Jest Ye Not Madam" Biggun of the Standing at the Back Dressed Stupidly and Looking Stupid Party in Blackadder the Third. I was very pleased to see him as Ford Prefect live on stage when they did the Hitch-hiker's radio series live tour some years ago. One of those faces who turns up time and time again in British TV over the years and is always a very welcome presence.
Horrible Histories was a perfect show. It took the education books by Terry Deary and elevated it to a hilarious sketch show, packed with songs. Obviously the songs might cause you some copy right issues, so here are some of the more popular sketches: - Stupid Deaths: ua-cam.com/video/MKAxK_Tb_hk/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared - Historical Masterchef: ua-cam.com/video/_9Cd6agZYwA/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared - Shouty Man: ua-cam.com/video/R7ZkNvMMAfw/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared - Historical Apprentice: ua-cam.com/video/FK6OGtY1wKI/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared - Bob Hale (news report): ua-cam.com/video/OCd_wYlmk4s/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared - Scary Stories (putting this in because it's David Baddiel): ua-cam.com/video/7nI7ELssYVw/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared And two favourites of mine: Caveman Art Show: ua-cam.com/video/Q1ZmZXicwug/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared Hairy Vikings (parody of the Hairy Bikers cooking show): ua-cam.com/video/7zBPCQCv8QA/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared But this is just a taste of HH, the Ghosts cast did the first 5 series, which was about 70 episodes, with a couple staying on for a little longer. So it's really an endless supply.
Robert! Thankyou for the links, I watched Stupid Deaths Top 5 and LOVED it. I did however get confused and gave a shoutout to someone from my patreon by mistake. So please accept my apologies for when you see the reaction
Horrible Histories is pretty good, as is everything The Six Idiots do, though the later series are not entirely historically accurate (rather a lot of revisionism going on) but I think the gang had moved on from it by that point. One show to definitely keep an eye out for though is Yonderland, it's madcap brilliance.
For the whole irl ghosts thing, human brains are pattern seakers and we always want an explanation for things. So "ghost sightings" are just us assuming agency behind things we've noticed, and unconsciously ignoring when things don't fit the pattern. There's also a very funny joke that you cab make about things like ghost sightings, miracles, and other extraordinary things. There's a graph for the number of reported ghost sightings across time. At first it's high with a lot of sightings, then cameras are invented and the number drops, then Photoshop is invented and it increases again.
Julian is my favourite Ghost and this episode has some of the moments that made me like him so much, pointing out that he knows what a CD is after everyone is amazed is one, and knowing the Fiji account is another, though really he should've been jumping to cheat poker for Alison. He always comes through with some of the most sneaky tricks, perfect for a disgraced Tory politician.
horrible history's are brilliant for children, the books and the programmes. but i think it must be really hard to get past copyright to react to them, i've yet to see someone do it.
I had a look for some episodes and I cannot find them anywhere, I assume they are either region locked to UK on UA-cam, or I need to subscribe to BritBox. But I'm working on it
@@AdamfromFWCI theres been a few major reactors tried them and they ALL had a nightmare with them. Especially if you show any of the songs they will be firing strikes at you
I grew up in rural Wakes where stories of ghosts, witches, dragons and the paranormal are rife, I'm an artist so I started getting really into all the old folklore stories and would visit all the locations, some of which were very remote up in the mountains, and I'd camp up there all alone, I'd spend days sometimes sketching and taking photos for doing paintings later, and never saw one bloody ghost or had any weird experiences, nothing, I slept next to a bridge where a child serial killer lived and buried all the bodies, I slept on the summit of Cadair Idris which they say either turns you into a poet or a madman, nada! I slept on the banks of the most haunted lake in Wales, not a dicky bird! So yeah, I don't believe in any of that stuff 🤣 Love this series though!
Only thing I have seen several times is a Brocken spectre, they're pretty weird but it's just a trick of light, an optical illusion, where you see yourself projected into the the distance with a halo glowing around you, but it's just a science thing which can be fully explained, it's happens up in the mountains under certain lighting conditions.
Horrible Histories never my thing although i do often enjoy the bloopers, however they did a series a little while ago called Yonderland and that is an absolute favourite series of mine. I went to rewatch the whole show but unfortunately i don't own one of the platforms that series one is still available from. So if you do ever get curious about the series it may be a tough one to start unfortunately.
@@AdamfromFWCI From the pentameter I'd eliminate the Dixie states, and the tone on the labial implies New England, but if your choice of masculine attire is typical of your home state then I'd figure you reside West of the Appalachians, so I'd say the tri-state area of Illinois, Missouri and West Virginia.

They do the ritual inside because they are dancing round where the moon stone used to stand, which happens to be the dining room now.

The very drunk Bunny Beg-Chetwynd is played by Emma Thompson's sister!

The Dick Turpin song is amazing
The show was so good, even my teachers used it in school; vaguely remember the scene of Henry the eight making his own church so he could divorce.

I've actually read that though the general vibe is that Julian was a Tory MP, the actor used a lot of 'tics' attributable to Tony Blair.
Annabel! He is horrible xD
Pray tell, how you doin'? is amazing!
Several of the actors/writers in 'Ghost' are also in and wrote the series "Yonderland' ua-cam.com/video/EKc3caoK31M/v-deo.html

Yes, the moon is outside. Why make nuisances of yourselves inside?
lol because the table was positioned where the centre stone was (or as close to, it'd be a lot lower)
Ghosts don’t exist; if you want a haunted house you’ve gotta haunt it yourself! 💪
