Harvest Right tray heating function fix

- My Harvest Right medium quit drying food all the way through. We (my wife) discovered the tray heating function did not work. After a little trouble shooting I thought I knew what was wrong, so I called Harvest Right. Not expecting to have to wait 3 days to speak with a technician, I was disappointed to find that was the case after speaking with one of their representatives and doing some basic trouble shooting. Not wanting to wait that long I kept probing into the issue. I found my issues was the thermal protector in the back of the tray stack had tripped. Luckily it is a manual reset and I was off! I hope this saves you some time not having to wait several days for a technician to call you back!
THANK YOU. It has been all afternoon. 5 trays of salmon. 4 months out of warranty. And out of the darkness comes a nice 1:51 minute. Not 30 minutes of blah blah. I feel good.
Thank you. I'm going to try this. It's frustrating to pay as much as we have for these machines, only to be the technician as well. I hope Harvest Right improves their customer service & technical support.
@@SayMyNameAgain make sure you have the latest firmware after you reset. I have heard this is caused by an update.
Thanks for posting your video. Harvest Right doesn't even mention the reset button on their troubleshooting section. I was ready to spend $250 for a new motherboard that still wouldn't have fixed the problem! Thanks again!
Thank you so much for posting this. The reset button worked PERFECTLY!
Thank you so much!!! This is exactly what was wrong!!
Dude,,,So far so good. Wifey was getting upset it seems I didn't have a magic wand. Ran across your video, ran out and hit the button. So far so good...doing a test cycle now. Hoping for the best or it's gonna be a long night...ugh....
Seems I keep finding out customer support is lacking with this company. Sad for sure given how much we spent on this thing and it's only been just over a year of occasional use.
i had just finished a batch in my freeze dryer after having used it for the last 2 years with no issues at all. Other then when i first received it, it could not achieve proper vacuum. I had to take it apart and apply silicone to the probe piece where the wires go through into the vacuum chamber and after that it worked fine. Recently i had heard about the newest software update having a candy mode and thought it would be cool to try. so after ordering a 16gb usb hard drive and downloading the new software i was ready to try it out! we got all of our candy ready and on trays then fired it up. only to have a error message saying mid batch heater failure. i couldn't believe it after having just used it and no issues. luckily i came after this video after looking up why my heater trays were not turning on. i reset that switch and next batch worked as it should. thank you
You are a genius sir. My trays have not been heating..mid batch heating error..ticket ito HR no response yet. Did what you suggested...IT WORKED..trays started to heat!!!!!! Thank you so much for making this video
Nice tip. BTW this is a known problem with .17, 18, and .19 firmware.
Thanks, Ryan. The tip is appreciated.
Thank you Ryan!! You fixed my problem.
Thank you for sharing this!!!! The reset button worked🎉 and I'm back up and running ❤
You are a life saver!
thanks so much for the tip..its been so frustrating trying to work with support. I'm going to try agsin
This was genius!!!! Worked the trick! You are amazing :😊 TYSM!
Thank you for this!!
Thanks for the video I will give it a try That did it, trays are heating up again. Thanks for the help, I might add that the reset isn't very positive, you don't feel a click or anything. I doubted that had fixed it, but plugged it in and the trays are heating up again.
Trying this now. The reset button seems useless. Hope it works!
Anyone else experience being able to run a cycle and then having the mid batch heating error come on again? I was beyond relieved after finding this video because initially it solved the issue and I was good to go, ran a test run and it went smoothly and now that I’ve put food in it’s giving me the error again
thank you sir! got a heating problem recently. The heater seems to be working but I think the sensor is having trouble mid batch.
Thank you this seems to have fixed my v19 unit which threw the heater error on the defrost cycle and I was thinking it may be the relay board until I watched your video and it now ran the defrost cycle without the error! It sounds like I should upgrade the firmware but not sure about that version 24 which seems like it may be just to avoid vacuum leak problems and I'd kinda like to see an error if I have a leak...
Thanks!
Hope this helps!
was it heating at all before the reset? did you do a functional test before the reset? my trays seem to not work in the dry cycle but pass the function test
Ryan, great information. Thanks for sharing. I need to put my trays back in and Im having a brain fart, where does the cord go? Can it go on top or I the back, or does it matter? I’ve done it 100 times, but I don’t want to mess anything up🥴🥴
The power cable that connects to the trays? I just push the tray stack in, and it just stays behind it.
This helped me too, got the heat back on my trays. Will try a load tomorrow... fingers crossed. Does anyone know why it trips in the first place?
thats the reel problem. that is a over current switch. same as a blowned fuse. @bluewolf4915 is right,
I changed my relay board, still no heat. Used this trick, heat. First run after tripped the breaker/reset again 😢 any ideas on what to try?
As of right now this fix did not work for me. Today I'll test the relays and as a last resort get hold of HR
What was the Temp rating on yours ?
I know it's been a while but my freeze dryer v5.4.24
But I got a relay board error base on detecting to much heat, I'm doing candy mode at 140f help anyone?
My XL is not heating trays during the drying cycle. Temps keep falling until things freeze. Also running v5.4.24. Was on with a tech yesterday and was told to update. Didn't work. I wonder if this button reset would do the trick though?
I've got the same error on my machine which has set idle for a few months :(

Hello,
I have a same problem with my machine 😢 got so disappointed. Did you fix your freeze dryer???
I push it down but it doesn't feel like the button goes anywhere? Is that normal? It spins, but doesn't feel like it does anything else when pushed. Help!
My apologies, it has been so long I don’t remember if there is a tactile response. I would say to hook the wiring back up then test it using the test menu located by touching green logo in upper left part of main screen. Press the slider under heating, see if the pads start to warm.
Do you press this why its still plugged up? I tried pressing it unplugged and it didn’t do anything
I am having same problem. Replaced relay board. Still getting midbatch heat failure.
Reset button doesn't seem to move.
Did you get yours fixed?
@@harleyjanice1I'm getting mid batch heater failure warning as well but the heater appears to be heating just fine so idk what to do. Did you get your problem resolved?
My button doesn’t push in…
neither does mine. this did.t work for me
