Kevin Durant and LeBron James were instrumental in Team USA's dominant 110-84 victory over Serbia in their Olympic opener. Durant, who thrives when playing for Team USA, showcased his exceptional talent by scoring 23 points and making his first eight shots, five of which were 3-pointers. This impressive performance came just an hour after being cleared to play following a month-long absence due to a calf injury.
Team USA coach Steve Kerr exercised caution in Durant's return, introducing him off the bench in the first quarter when Serbia led 19-14. This marked only the fourth time in Durant's professional career and the first in his Team USA career that he came off the bench. Once on the floor, Durant's signature jumper repeatedly found the net, much to the delight of his teammates and fans.
Durant's performance, coupled with James' leadership, created a formidable duo. James, who scored 23 points, also contributed nine assists and six rebounds.
