Another Home Run for Islander. The build quality is impeccable, and the lume is like a flash light on your wrist. Ordered mine the the day it was released. Thankful I did!!
Marc is just hitting it out of the ballpark with these islander watches...I am wearing a fully lumed dial NTH Santa Fe right now but at ~$300 that ISL is hard to beat :)
I’m jealous af man I’ve been on the search for that exact watch but they’re near impossible to find now. Going to have to buy the isl but so far I don’t think I’ll mind it at all, just love the Santa Fe’s different color lume for both the dial and the bezel
I have a Orient Lume dial(2010-aviator). Its nice, but I find, during the night, the lume almost overwelms everything and the hands and indices are difficult to read. It'd be nice to see a weeks test for the islander. The 2nd issue I find having a lume dial is, when you come in from sunlight, the hands leave big obvious shadow where they've been! And its so annoying!!!
Wouldn't be surprised if they are cheaper than traditional screw pins but I can't imagine they are cheaper than the usual friction pins you get in a $300 watch....
This one is cool too, but I think out of this series, the ISL-28 "Dawn Grey" is the best looking one. It looks like nothing else out there with its bi-color sapphire bezel - also much better looking than the Samurai Dawn Grey itself, besides the obvious technical improvements.
Would love to compare that to my Zelos Mako Frost or my dad's Swordfish Frost. Especially the lume. I know this was your suggestion to Marc, and its pretty cool he listened.
I know this is an older vid but I thought Id ask, I think Mark said they didnt put a chapter ring in this model but can it still accept one? I ask because I love the case and want this watch for modding, and I have another watch id love to put the dial and handset in while I take the rest for a custom sammy mod... any ideas if that case is different from his others that accpet all the skx mods?
It is nice! It looks a lot like the Phoibos Proteus that was released 2 months ago - anyways love these angled watches and I believe 42 is nice for a Diver - good size! How is the finish? any sharp edges?
How durable are that style crystals with the beveled edge as far as chipping due to impact. I have had only flat sapphire in the past. Been looking for a Samurai and a lume dialed watch, Marc has my attention.

When mark made the skx clone after the real one was discontinued I thought that made sense. But these seiko clones of the turtle and samurai make no sense to me. And his own pilot watch looks terrible, like a hodge podge of off the shelf parts. I'd like to see him make his own watch - something original!
I figured they would sell out so the second Marc uploaded his video I went to his site and ordered one. Got lucky and it's coming Monday. I checked back an hour later and they were sold out.
Id love to purchase an Island watch. Marc's site is one of only a few that doesn't provide a phone number to place an order. If so I'd have a few of Islander watches. Great watches....... Great review Rob.
@@Jon81G I did. It's website or nothing. I live in a very rural area of the Midwest. Our internet service out here is poor at best. I'm on my cellphone right now. A "pay as you go" flip phone. Placing an order for anything via the internet is cumbersome to say the least. The watches I do have were purchased over the phone. Oh well. Maybe it wasn't meant to be.

Purchased this bad boy 30mins after they were released, that lume is unreal and nothing does it justice until you see it in person.
I did the same thing. Have you put it on a NATO or anything yet? I did and I had a heck of a time getting the bracelet back on.
not yet, love the bracelet so will leave it on that for now, but will def take note of getting it back on when i do

New introduction, he had no idea how many would sell, it will take 60-90 days to dial in the inventory flow. He just got them a few days ago.
