A quick note on watch crunch. Im autistic and when I releaved this on watch crunch a user started creating new accounts to bully me. Watch crunch staff did nothing despite me reporting. I reached out to Max several times and he didn't even respond. I'll never use watch crunch or watch any of Max's videos again.
The price tag on orient and seikos these days is crazy
They're both moving upmarket. I blame Americans for mocking orient and Seiko so much
I restore vintage seiko and if anything they’ve been underpriced for years.
Lol they aren't going upmarket cause people make fun of them. They are doing it out of greed @@AndreiGeorgescu-j9p
You got use to CHINESE "HOMAGE " CLONES PRICES
I like date watches. If I’m going to spend money for a watch, I want it to show me the date, and I do use it often.
I really wish we had the Bauhaus style in these new dimensions. For me that was the better Bambino dial.
Still waiting for a 36mm or smaller version
In the meantime maybe borrow your wife’s or sister’s?
Keep waiting. They have very little under 40mm
$400 is insane. Also wish Orient would try to compete with the marlin and make a smaller ~35mm manual wind, no date bambino line. Would be great for their vintage vibe
💯
🔥
Excellent take, I would love a good mechanical 35-36mm watch with that vintage look it would be a very elegant piece and I'm sure they would make more than alot sells on it
what's other watches provide what Orient provides at this price range? genuinely asking
You can get all 4 of these for $280
Another brilliant, professional review. Thank you Ben, well done.
Nice watch, but the blue painted hands look very cheap.
I bought a Kamasu recently because of channels like yours. It's an amazing watch for the price and I threw a nato strap on it. It makes me happy every time I look at it, and it was a fair price.
Gave my dad a 40mm Bambino Bauhaus and my mother a 32mm Contemporary. We all love Orient!
Semi-related: I recently bought one of the Mako Sport models (the purple dial one) and I LOVE it. Amazing value for money.
Orient is excellent. Love my 38mm cream dial bambino.
I have the same one too, it's gorgeous and even if the honeymoon is long gone, I still feel warmth when it rests on my hand
40.5 case dress watch… yea they ruined it
You can tell Orient is owned by Seiko with their overpriced watches. What's next? Escarcity and QC issues?
You can blame that to Epson and not really Seiko....as it's Epson that manages Orient and sells parts to both Seiko and Orient ...
feels like orient could be charging far more tbh
Made in Thailand
And funny thing is that it cost more in Thailand than it is in Japan.
I like how Japanese companies take decoupling from China seriously.
Why would anybody think that taking a second-hand off and replacing it with additional clutter on the face of the watch is superior, I don't understand.
What I don’t like is that it’s price is significantly lower in Japan than in Thailand despite being made in Thailand (the factory is literally a few drives from where I am).
The hands are violet, too blue in any case. They look colored not heat treated.
got it. Love it. worth every penny!
Would be nice if Seiko group, once a millennium, had some real design chops and released a no-date automatic. How much MORE expensive and bold would this look without that mandatory date window?
I'll keep shifting my pennies to Ali Express where they get it....
I do like this, but I'm more than happy with my preferred Golden eye. What are your thoughts on SWC's new logo btw? personally I like it.
I find the move to Thailand very interesting. if more brands follow suit, combined with Wise, Thailand might become a big player in the watch industry
I paid $115 for my last Bambino. Crazy how much the prices have gone up.
Has the original small seconds and loved it but for the size. Bring back that design (3,6,9,12) in 38, and I’d get it.
5 hours later, they're already available for $275 on Amazon, nice
The only thing I dont like about my Orient is that the crystal is too reflective.
I've observed the same on a few of their flat sapphire crystal models. Could do with a different AR coating for sure
@@BensWatchClub let’s get real; those coatings are ugly. they look like an oil slick and detract from the dial.
@@MrMadvillanar coating in general or orient's
I like the dial 40 mm dial with 3 6 9 Arabic markers but obviously like this size better
I think what this watch is missing is a sapphire crystal, then it would be amazing.
If it was up to me, every watch would come with a date window!
I always enjoy your reviews…thanks
If not sapphire they should have gone with an acrylic crystal, as its far easier to repair it!!
For a $400 priced watch however, you should be getting sapphire though!!
There is something about Roman numerals on Japanese watches that doesn’t sit right with me…
Do you feel the same about Arabic numerals on Swiss watches?
@@Entertainment- well Arabic numerals are basically western Arabic numerals that we use today
Guess what the Japanese use 'Western' numerals too @@ChromeMan04
Never buying a $400 orient 😂
These strike me much more as an everyday piece, rather than dress watch, so wear them more often!
Love your channel with so many stellar watches! For me the MAMACOO’ watch is my favorite. Keep the videos coming. Thanks.
Really enjoy the content of your videos but finding it increasingly difficult to listen without being irked by the delivery. I hope you don't my mentioning that when speaking you consistently inflect seemingly every other word giving the impression you are constantly trying to emphasise what you are saying. A more even tone while you are speaking would enhance my listening experience.
That rotor is really loud. I wonder if they’ll make these in a manual wind.
So, Orient Black Raven-II diver with 200 m water resistance I bought for $180 two years ago, why has it so much more value than Bambino?
Being an owner of the 40mm i can say that the new one is tooo much like everything else. The tall glass bambino is the most distinctive bambino and i love that. This one looks like its pretending to be swiss and i am sorry , THAT is a bad thing for fans and the brand
Back in the heyday of Singapore's finest resellers, I could barely muster any interest at £80. And now they want what? Presumably Orient is selling at RRP elsewhere in the world, but they're surely not in Europe. As a JDM fan, it's an odd occasion when I say that we've been reprieved. The Japanese watchcos really do need to try harder in the non-domestic markets. Maybe they've just given up to smart watch competition.
I do like that black dial, silver subdial variant. Maybe if it ever drops to the $250 CAD price point at some point in future....
Ben, did you hear that Trump is releasing a watch collection? I'd love to hear your thoughts, if you want to risk wading into US politics lol
Ugh... Romans... Orient, please go with Western Arabics. Otherwise, damn, that's a nice watch! That black dial/silver sub-dial is bangin' (if it had Western Arabics)!
Orient are great value, but they seem to have raised their prices by 30% across the board. TUS sold me my Mako III for for £244 in May 2023 and they now price it at £361, which I feel is more than the effects of inflation. They're still worth it though.
I bought mine for $250 WITH a watch winder. I was thinking about the silver model but it was sold out. Ended up picking up the gold version, and oh man, never have I ever been more stunned by a watch dial before. Totally worth it!
TUS watches are excellent for Orient. Got a great deal on a Star diver and the customer service is outstanding. Best deal I got was a £600 M-force for £165 on Amazon warehouse. The higher end models are all made in Japan.
The thing about Orient is the faux discounts. Every time I check the model, it is almost always going to be discounted. I do see issue there, despite this practice not being as, say, egregious as Invicta or Sturhling.
Thanks for the nice review Ben! I actually prefer the design of the original small seconds Bambino. Cleaner, with more of a mid-century vibe. Just wish that version came in a 38.
looks great, I definitely like Orient's logo. As far as the crystal goes, while I used to demand Sapphire, I now think acrylic actually looks the best and it's especially great if you want a cheaper watch
Awesome review. Thanks. Too expensive. And no sapphire? And a loud movement? Maybe it’s meant to be used as an alarm? 😂 What is Orient thinking?
I gotta say you get more for your dollar with a Sugess, Baltany or San Martin. I have the original Bambino, similar to this buy without sub seconds. What really bothers me about this dial is the 2 sets of minute markers. It kills it for me.
I dislike the display case backs, showing a 20$ movement (retail). What’s to see in a cheap, ugly movement and not get depressed?!
Price is ridiculous. Can get a Raymond weill swiss watch a maestro with moon dial for this price!!! And its not even waterproof!!!
I purchased but then sold a gradient dial Kamasu a while back precisely due to the highly noticeable rotor noise upon light wrist movement. It felt and sounded like the old wind-up rubber band propellers on toy balsa wood airplane gliders that you would toss in the air. I guess the Orient engineers need hearing aids.
I'm looking to get the Orient Bambino version 7. 38mm, white face, black band.
The Orient logo looks like something that belongs on a cigarette carton, not a watch.
They will lose their customers. People are buying these because they are between 100-150 dollars range.
Not a fan of the painted embossed indices, which look like they are trying to fake applied indices. I think it would be cleaner to just make them flat and remove some of the extra unnecessary indice text and lines around the perimeter. No need to busy up a watch like that, and especially no reason to have a watch show info with no useful purpose.
A no date version will need them to upgrade the movement to the seemingly more expensive F6B24 movement then maybe having to mess around with the case to make this movement fit. They could just not have a date window and make the wearer have to deal with a ghost position. These things sell so well that I don't imagine Orient feel they need to change anything right now but I do agree that it would look a lot better without the date on the dial
I appreciate the nuance on the crystal aspect. Not only does it help me judge the watch in question, but makes me a more informed customer in regards to other watches as well.
Those blue hands.... Please stop to use it, especially the second blu hand on the black dial one with silver hands🥲
Отличный обзор! Очень интересная модель. Давно хочу приобрести bambino. Может быть, эту версию выбрать?
I think the glass of this watch is not sapphire, also the water resistance is quite low at 3 atm, then it would be great.
I love my v2, but an extra hundred bucks for a slightly smaller case? No way.
Love the gold bambino, but it dies because of 30 wr, no sapphire and 400$.
NO DATE! No date will be the ultimate!
Nice to see a company, even one I don't GAF about, listening to the community.
Orient open heart or moon phone r best.
There gonna regret raising the price cause at that price point I'd putt alittle more and go premium
Japan currency inflation , they have to adjust their price
Remove that horrible date window or at least add a border and don’t make it seem like an afterthought.
How is the gold done? Because it's stainless steel of course?
Only had 2 Orient watches but both failed at the crown ... I dont trust this brand anymore
What exactly happened with the crown?
@@marko0marko0marko01Crown unable to be screwed tight anymore ... on both
@@yvesleroy5740 thats a red flag
That is because you cross threaded the crown. You did not screw it down correctly.
Wait….isn’t 4 in Roman numerals IV…??
V1 for me thanks. Still a great watch though....
I like it, but you can get a Perpetual SC-03 for half the price
I have a bambino from about 8 years ago but as you say alliexpress are on their heals
Orient logo is not bad and I bet would be better with out the word “Automatic”
well... prices rise thanks to all of you, promotors
The real story here is the factory leak thing, where did u hear about this?
I got it in my country for like 200usd
Seiko N haitch series? It's N aitch.
We hyped them too, fame went to orients head
Very nice but for the price id get a Seiko
Would look even better as a pointer date.
I can't the Romans just trigger me
Blue hands look tacky on this
meh blue hands ....
It's 🤡 size
Everyone complaining about Seiko & Orient getting pricy are part of the problem. Y’all shouldn’t have complained about Seiko being a “cheap mall brand” and now this is the result. Seiko getting expensive and chugging out watches with misaligned chapter rings and Hardlex crystals at $600.
You reap what you sow.
Seiko haven't raised their prices as some sort of indignant gotcha to people that complained about them. Seiko raised their prices because people praised them to no end and showed they'd still buy them at continually higher prices.
@@Wahlrusberg Well as I know it, Seiko is trying to upscale itself to get rid of that mall brand stigma it has surrounding it. It’s definitely trying to compete with the big boys like the swiss.
Hell, give them a couple more years and they will completely phase out the Seiko 5 line.
Is "IIII" a roman numeral? Not sure why most roman numeral watches have an incorrect roman numeral 4 and not the proper IV.
Look into it and you will find out, I did and now I understand, and agree with it.
I love orient, but jesus h christmas christ.
When I think of orient I do not think of $400.
Than you really do not know orient too well. Have you ever came across their higher end watches?. Orient under prices their watches. I have a high end orient star. They are under valued. Be happy…..
Close, but still no cigar. Ditch that date window - what is it with this brand's date window fetish?? - and use the Arabic numerals from the original small seconds version, I say.
Furthermore, these half ass* Roman numerals take way up too much space on the dial.
*Meaning: The Roman '4' is 'IV', not 'IIII'. I have seen this on other watch brands too: Why?
I own the original small seconds, champagne dial. It's a great watch, but indeed a little too big, has an annoying lug width and an imho useless date window.
If you don't get a move on it, I may just defect to the Timex Galli. Just so you know dear Orienters!
Totally agree, they won't make a watch without a date window. It doesn't work on a vintage looking dial.....
Why is EPSON written on the case back though
Because Orient is owned by the Seiko-Epson corporation.
SAPPHIRE- Diamond like IOR! There is more to sapphire than “scratch resistance.” It’s so fken tiring to hear over and over again that all that matters is scratch resistance, something you might need if youre clumsy but only maybe. Reflectivity effect visibility every time you look at the dial. Those double highdomed sapphire looks like milky garbage at off angles! Sorry but i’m a dial guy and if seiko put a sapphire on this watch it would look milky at the turn and illegible straight on. And those blue and purple coatings look like trash and take away from the watch, stop lying to yourselves about sapphire, it’s grossly overrated and only does 1 thing well.
Why is the 4 o'clock 4 I lines instead of IV??? This just bugs me...
So as not to confuse people with the 6 numeral VI.
Known as "the Clockmaker's Four." Pretty much only seen on clocks and watches. Always bugged me, too.
Four lines is not and never will be Roman numeral 4 - would piss me off every time I look at the dial, no buy...
Many people dont even notice it until they are told..."Watchmakers 4" has been a thing for a looooong time now...(literally before wristwatches)
Standard for (I believe) every Cartier watch and used by many brands including Rolex, Patek, AP, Lange...
@@mmdetorocorrect, and it’s the tradition of it mostly. But as far as I know, they originally used it because it makes the clock dial look more symmetrical.
@@dandanplaneman Yeah, theres a bunch of theories that explain it (one of them being it was done so that "less cultivated" people would be able to understand it) but that one is the one that is most commonly accepted
Finally! Now, if they can just get rid of that date window 😏
If you’re making a dress watch perhaps it’s a good idea to make the Roman numerals correct.
There's a reason it's called a 'Watchmaker's four'. You might want to do some research before wrongly assuming they made a mistake.
@@bboooobbyy but only VI of the Roman numerals are right
Marc from Long Island Watch pretty much predicted this ages ago. Brands like Seiko and Orient can only be cheap during their growth phase, thry cant continue operating at those cheap prices in the long run. People are getting hooked in Chinese watches like San Martin, and it will be the same thing.
