So, the reporter in this video did admits the new design helps somewhat on preventing mold/mildew. But she recommends an LG instead because the GE doesn't completely eliminate the problem, so let's go back to LG WITH the original problem? C'mon!!!

I have used this GE frontload washer for about 6 months now. The UltraFresh Vent system really works! My washer AND our clothes are fresher and cleaner. Finally, a frontload washer where you don't have to do all the maintenance steps and leave the door ope. I like how Consumer Reports tested it and said it works great and is the only washer on the market that has that feature. They make a big deal about mold in frontload washer. I've also saw that from real consumer reviews that the product is high quality. I trust consumer reviews much more than Consumer Reports when it comes to products anyway since they are only talking about historical ratings and not the actual rating of the product I'm using. .

      @@bolosantosi5398 I love it
      It has a light bulb
The vent system works perfectly, one thing is that is has the "brand new smell" you have wash at least like 3-6 load to get rid of it The vent system goes on for 8 hrs but you can pause it anytime and most of the time it's dry before them 8hrs and it's quite even with big loads if I and I use the auto dispenser almost all the time and you could set it to "auto, More, less" I leave it on auto (it uses weight sensor to know how much too put)

I have never had an issue I leave the door open slightly and there’s never been an odor or mold in my front load washer. Of course I don’t have any kids so that may be an issue for those that do.

@Isaac Joby John He was talking about the mold issue, not leaving your kids/pets in the washer. haha. Kids dont cause a mold issue, that is 100% operator error.

@Isaac Joby John No, lol. this is about mold/odor, not kids climbing in the washer.
The title of the video is "Why is washer mold still a problem?".
Petermazbabie was saying he never had an issue with mold/mildew because he leave the door open. He said that kids probably are a leading factor in washer gasket mildew. Which is false. Getting mold in a washer can happen to anyone. Kids or no kids.

I have had my Whirlpool Duet HT front loading set from 2004, and it is still working like a charm. I did have a mold issue with it one time 5 years after I bought it, but I quickly changed my maintenance habits, and have had NO PROBLEMS since. Consumers blame the company's, and fail to take there part in poor maintenance in there products they bought. If people would leave there doors open always when not in use, dry the door and gasket when done with laundry, clean the drain pump bi-weekly, and run the washer on the longest and hottest settings. If your washer does not have a sanitary/tub clean cycle, run it on the Heavy Duty cycle and pour a large pot of near boiling/boiling water into the washer after it has sensed the load size.
Also, front loaders are not the only washer type to get mold. Top loaders get moldy as well, under the agitator/impeller, under the tub, and the walls of the outer tub.
Cannot wait to get me second front loading laundry pair from LG. (WM3400CW)

@Right Round I don't see any problem with it. People with a top loader leave the lid open without thinking about it. I don't have an issue with it, and have been doing it for almost 17 years. Clothes come out clean and washer smells wonderful. I did close my washer door for a month after every cycle, but I kept drying the door seal and I had no mold growing.
Front Loaders are good with me 100%

I’ve just gotten a set of LG 3400’s. I had the same set in a previous home that I bought 7 years ago. There are some differences between the two. Main issue it will tell you the wash time is 90 minutes and it’s done in 45. The timer on the current ones is useless. My other set was spot on. Repairman and the company said this is normal. Also on some settings it does not tumbled the clothes to get them unstuck from the drum when done. Other than that I love the machine

@@psdesert7907 That's with any front loader. It's normal. Mine will go from spinning straight to being done without the tumble. It's not a headache for me, but I know for some people it possibly could be. The way the 3400 operates is weird because the models that offer the time, for example ( 1:25) or ( :56) instead of the 99 or 63. You get an LG that offers the extended time display, it doesn't have that issue.

Is your laundry setup in a damp basement or a humid garage? Do you do laundry nearly every day? I don’t think the microban and vent can keep mold at bay if the machine never gets a chance to dry out. Just curious - not doubting your experience at all - matches others’ complaints. We’ve had front loaders since the late 90s with minimal mold problems, but we’re only doing 4-5 loads on the weekends. Just bought this GE, so far so good.

It’s in a laundry room in the house. I am using it a lot due to my little one so washing every day. I am trying to get rid of the mold with a few products. I never had a mold issue with my whirlpool and other machines. I am going to try to use the vent feature more and drying it out more often in between cycles to see if that works.

    • @ryancraig4811
      @ryancraig4811 8 місяців тому +2

@@oanamoise uggh. That’s tough, especially since the vent cycle takes 8 hours or so. Running the clean cycle with 2/3 cup of bleach in the drum + scrubbing the seal and dispenser area with a toothbrush and bleach solution is about the only thing I’ve found to be effective for mold. Best of luck.
