I just read the new Jimmy Webb autobiography...great read. The Cake and the Rain is an eye opening, brutally honest and insightful look at the the inside of one of Americas greats song writers. Can't wait for more Jimmy! And RIP Glen !
Does it mention if this song is also about Susan Horton? (Also, I believe the book doesn't mention Jimmy's second wife?) I recently read Wichita Lineman: Searching in the sun for the world's greatest unfinished song, by Dylan Jones. Patchy by worth reading if you want some background to Jimmy's best songs and some stories regarding Richard Harris, Glen Campbell and the Wrecking Crew.
love this song and Glen's interpretation of Jimmy's words... thank you so much for posting this... as we realize Glen's legacy as his days become more cloudy, help us to remember him at his best.... so thankful Glen used his God-given gift to bless all of us who listen to his music.....
Multi talented glenn was a good actor doing westerns. He was also a good guitarist. Sang a lot of wonderful songs like this one but my favorite has always been yesterday when i was young. It is sad to note that when he got older he suffered parkinson and slowly deteriorated but this is always the glenn campbell that i always remember
Teresita, Glen was a brilliant guitarist - the best in the biz. And his voice and song delivery = pure gold. His first acting role was good enough to win John Wayne his only Oscar. ;) But he never had Parkinson's; it was Alzheimer's that felled this musical giant. It's truly wonderful that we can still enjoy his talent here with so many clips from his long and legendary career. YWiWY is such a poignant song - Glen sings it beautifully, but "Didn't We" is one of my favorites. Glen & Jimmy = perfection.
Oh how when we had him I always thought next concert! Well then my dad went through Alzheimer’s like Glen but it was a bit quicker! I was caring for dad didn’t get to go to a concert then my Dad passed Glen was in Nursing home! I wish I had taken Dad when he would have enjoyed the music!
Que lindo quando a gente nao esquece ele de jeito nenhum deixa eu olhar nos teus olhos de frente a frente e cnofessar que te quero ate velhinha meu amigo docoracao
amazing. I am not the biggest fan of Glen Campbell or Jimmy Webb but this vocal performance and orchestration make this song awesome and much better than the studio version.
I understand your sentiments. I was no fan, of any kind of Olivia Newton John, then on a flight, Bose Headphones and great sound, I heard her do, mainly just her voice and piano, "The Long and Winding Road" At that point, I suddenly was overcome; I have admire her ever since.
I have to say I just crack up over "The Voice". My mom watches and I just laugh. The judges get them all wrong. These kids, some are terrific, but the majority sing OUT OF TUNE....No comparisons to our 60's, 70's groups....
We lost a great musician when Glen passed. The ravages of drugs got its nasty claws into another great talent. Please learn that drug use will take down from the average man to the greatest talent. They do not make you more creative whatsoever, they destroy your creativity and talent and snatch your life from you and take you from those who love you and turn you into a monster, NO EXCEPTIONS
Sorry and respectfully disagree. Glen was 20 x's the vocalist that Richard Harris. Glen never needed vocal coaching, had perfect pitch, and a 4 octave range. Not to mention his voice was so smooth and sweet to the ear. Glen could sing anything. No comparison in my humble opinion.
An angel in human shape. Now he is performing in Heaven. Rest in peace Sir.
Man Alive! Glen could sing it all, smooth. I really believe that Glen and Linda Ronstadt were America's Premier Vocalist.
This version almost slipped by me, wonderful performance, how lucky were we to have talent like this. RIP Glen
My brother introduced me to Glen as a child. Can't believe he's gone. Lives on no doubt. His music
Glen knocked this one out of the park!! Loved Glen.
OH MY GOSH Glen could sing anything & give you goosebumps.
This song expresses our loss - for Glen and for personal loves....
Thank you so much! Jimmy Webb and Glen Campbell! A perfect pair. Brings back the best of memories.
Lighting In a Bottle!
Thank you, Glen for sharing your God-given talents with us, your devoted fans. We will always love you....
A great song sung by a great and under-rated singer of the purest notes Glen Campbell! He never hit a bad note!
He wasn't fucking underrated!!

I agree wholeheartedly.
+Terri Robison I so agree... what passes for music, other than Adele, makes me cringe!!
Great singer but I think Richard Harris gives this song the emotional heart it needs.

I am not a fan of the key he is singin it in.
He seems embarrassed to be lip syncing. Still love Glen!
Lip syncing? Surely you jest.
