In the video it is clearly mentioned by the instructor that you should use half clutch only when slope is extremely steep (KHADI CHADHAI) in the case of uphil drive. It is as simple as that. I don't know why many viewers are finding it difficult to understand. Use the half clutch technique wisely and only when required. Those who still want to argue, kindly read this: carfromjapan.com/article/driving-tips/all-about-half-clutch-driving/
@@swadesimohan There is NO SUCH THING as HALF CLUTCH! No matter WHAT, the clutch should NEVER be slipped to hold a vehicle on a slope -- ANY SLOPE. This video is giving BAD ADVICE!!
At all the other Ghats , there is a speed limit board , This is the first & only ghat in my entire 22 years of driving history where I have seen a 'Gear' Board , at few places it specifies that the 'First gear' should be applied. This is not a 'Dangerous' ghat , rather it is very beautiful , all we need is some decent driving skills and no over confidence.. cross the ghat with first and 2nd year and you will never face a problem , guys in overconfidence palce 3rd and 4th gear on uphill roads so down breaking to 3rd--> 2nd-->1st takes time , enjoy the drive not try to finish it.. You did extremely well in handling the reverse going car and then climbing back , bravo
On hills one of the strategies is never use half clutch. Clutch should be used only when changing gears. If stuck in an uphill situation, use the hand brake and slowly release the clutch with the accelerator at the same time. And also if possible no music during hill drive the reason is you need to hear and see for other vehicles in a hill drive.
I am from Neral. The town where Matheran Ghat starts. I will be very honest here. Driving in this ghat is no joke. Unless a driver has extreme control of his vehicle, obe shouldn't dare to drive in this ghat. I have seen many accidents (minor) especially from drivers who are from Mumbai and Pune or basically who are not accustomed to driving in ghats of sahyadri. The first hairpin incline turn after Jummapatti will tell you where you stand in terms of driving and controlling your car.

Use your handbrake, switch off the ac. Clutch dheere chod kar accelerator dena chalu karo, jaise gadi vibrate hone ya hilne lage handbrake release kar do.

When u said matheran i knew this is the exact spot where u will make a mistake.. 😅😅. This hair pin loses tyre grip if tooo fast turn and it has a good height too so need to have decent rpm to climb up.. still keep progressing ❤❤
Never use half clutch. It will burn your clutch and pressure plates. Infact half clutch mean half of the power you are sending to the wheel . Maintain your momentum and plan the gear before climbing the slope. 👍
This is a prime example of the rot in our licencing system. Without even knowing to drive under various conditions, licence is distributed. All of us first got the licence, then learnt to drive in our own vehicle. This needs to stop.
I disagree with the first line of your comment "This is a prime example of the rot in our licensing system". Reasons: 1) Matheran Ghat is not just any normal ghat road it has unusually steep hairpins (The toughest I have seen) 2) I have shot this video after 2000+ km of driving experience. 3) You can not learn everything in laboratory unless you hit the real roads. 4) People keep learning with their driving experience (at least I do) be it India or America or any other country. Rest of your comments are true but not applicable in this case.
@@swadesimohan Appreciate your POV. However, I would still stand with what I have said. In any civilized and developed nation, the driving license test will test you for all road conditions. Any tips for driving on ghet? How to get more mileage? How to less stress for car and clutch plate? How to avoid break failure? Etc
There is no point in thinking of mileage while driving on ghats. Keep your speed on a bit lower side so that you don't loose steering control.
Try not to stop on hairpin bend on uphill. Keep vehicle in 2nd and maintain your torque. You can do it better. Well, nice video!
