This video is so well done that I just can't say enough about it! My ZR2 is ordered so I have plenty of time to watch videos-my first mod of course with be a level and tires. I now have the clearest and best understanding of what to do! I'm coming from a full size GMC and spent countless hours doing research on height, tire and wheel combos, so your level of detail is greatly appreciated. Again, the video is awesome. Use of drone footage and photos, and great narration, I'm impressed!
Thanks for the feedback David. We really appreciate it. Glad to hear it helped you out. Congrats on your zr2. They’re really awesome trucks. Thanks for watching
Very good and correct explanation of the tire size info on the sidewall, one of very few vids where this is done correctly. Secondly, the tire weight is often overlooked as being such a huge factor on HP, and gas mileage, again very well done. Lastly, the '80' series tires are far too often overlooked and are a great option to go tall, and limit the chance of rubbing at full lock when articulated. Again excellent video, one of the better ones I have seen!
Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate you taking the time. I agree, that the 80 series are overlooked. They do allow for more articulation and most people have the initial intention of going higher but always opt for the 285/70r17. Again, thanks for watching.
On my 2018 Colorado, I had 265/60-18. I installed the leveling kit and added 265/65-18 Goodyear Trailrunners. It’s the front struts you have to worry about by going wider. My next set will be either KO2, Duratrac or STMaxx 275/60-18 because I have the room. Oh, and anyone out there, your speedometer will be off. Mine is only 2 mph.
Nice, I think you’ll be able to squeeze the 275 in there with no issues. Those are all good tire choices. I didn’t care for the dura trac as much as I thought. They were hyped up so much but didn’t really live up to my expectations.

With no Clue of the mechanical part, was well done, but to ignore the most important part is the Gear Ratio in the Differential so wont kill the transmission also along with a broken front axel weak remote engagement.
I just got a new 2021 Chevy Colorado a 3 1/2 months ago. I just had to change the tires. Went from 255/65r17 to 265/65r17 bf goodrich KO2s fit perfectly 👍
Congrats on the purchase. I love the front end updates on the 2021s. We put 265/70r17 winter tires on here in Alaska. After leveling, I couldn’t bring myself to put the stock tires back on lol. KO2s are such a good all around tire. Smart choice. Thanks for watching Jason.
@@DustinFaddis right on man. I hear you I live new England. What a difference tire a little bit bigger tires make to look of the truck. Keep the good videos.
Very informative video and truck looks great. My ZR2 has 1.25 level springs and 275/65/18 tires and wheels. I went with 18 inch wheels to get the slightly wider tires and get it up to 32.1.
Thanks for watching Tim. I really like the look of 18” wheels. I already get nervous that we’re going to scratch these 17s when we cross through rivers here lol. I’m doing some shopping around for wheels but that’s going to be a while now. Do you have pics on Instagram or any forums?
This is exactly the information that I was looking for!! I have a 2019 Bison that I will need tires soon... and was looking at larger tires that I could fit without major modifications... this video was great! Glad I came across it...
Great question. A lot of people say you don’t buy a truck like this for gas mileage, which is true... but, you definitely don’t want to ruin the gas mileage either. Real world, in town I get 14mpg. When my wife drives she gets 16.5mpg So what that really means to me is that the more conservative you drive the less it will affect you. I used to get around 15mpg before the tires. We have seen little to no change when my wife drives. I hope that helps and I didn’t start rambling 😆 thanks for watching.
Good stuff! Wish I had seen this when I was looking to upgrade tires! I ended up with the same size as you in the BFG AT KO3 arfter much measuring and reading forums. They've been great! BTW, what is the additional red on the rock sliders?
The ko3s are a great tire as well. Those are 589 fabrication rock slider steps. You just bolt them right on. We had them powder coated to match. They’re a great addition we’re happy with them. Thanks for watching
Great video thanks, straight down to business. I live in northern BC, not far from the AK panhandle, but still not as punishing as your conditions I bet. Curious what's the red bar that runs along the rock sliders?
Those are bolt on rock slider steps. They’re from 589 fabrication. It gives a little more space to step on. I think they look good when powder coated to match.
@DustinFaddis, what happened? We haven't seen any more of your great videos for a year or more! I found this one very helpful as are the other ZR2 vids you posted!
Sorry my friend. I’ve recently retired from the army and have been busy starting my next career. I hope to start making more videos soon. Thanks for standing by
Thanks for watching Shelley. That is a step that bolts onto the stock rock sliders. We picked it up at 589 fabrication. I talk about it a little in another video while going over the mods we’ve done.
Has the taller tire affected the trucks performance or fuel economy? Is the 33" tire on the cusp of having to do a gear change? Did you have to get the speedometer recalibrated? Thanks for the excellent video,s
We haven’t noticed a difference in fuel economy on the highway. There’s probably a difference in city mpg but it’s less than .5 mpg. I feel that because the tire is slightly skinnier you save a tiny bit of weight and rolling resistance so the short answer is no we haven’t noticed a difference that would make us want to regear the truck. Regearing is always great for torque and off-roading but definitely not required. We’ve even towed Max weight of 5,000 lbs and it was still better than a Tacoma that I used to have. The speedometer is progressive so you have about a 1mph difference at around 20mph and at 70mph it will be off about 5mph. Just know that if you go exactly the speed limit you’re already doing your 5mph over on the highway. You can have it recalibrated if you want but again it’s not necessary. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching Dan
Great question. We haven’t noticed a difference in braking or and just a slight difference in acceleration. Nothing that can’t be fixed with a tune. Haha
I'm so glad someone has finally gone with this tire size and shared their experience. I have been curious about it since I got the truck. The one question I have for you is whether you think the leveling kit is necessary considering you said you didn't get close on the front. I have the same mud flaps and would like to keep them. Thanks for the upload!
I don’t feel the leveling kit is 100% necessary with these tires unless you’re planning to fully flex it off-road. However. I do think that for just over $100 bucks… the truck looks way better with this 1.25” kit installed. It still leaves just a slight rake. Thanks for watching. We appreciate the feedback and the question.
If you don't have the highmark flares you'll have the same clearance. Minus a little up front due to the bison front bumper. The front will not matter though. There's plenty of room. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Just the info I needed, put the GM performance lift on, the" correct" way to lift the zr2...and changed the rear leafs to Deavers for an 1.5" lift, because I have an alu-cab on.... Came up and leveled it, Wanted to make sure the 255/80r17 would work without out trimming or rubbing Thank you 🙏 already ordered the tires...😬
Have been meaning to come back around on this helpful video. Thanks for all the information! Confirmed, my 2022 Bison is on 265/65 17 Wranglers. Once those wear out it just makes sense to finally give the right look and functionality to my Bison by going with the 255/80 r17 setup with the 1.25 leveling kit. Is there a preference on leveling kit? And is there a software update I need to do in order to calibrate speedometer? Again thanks - Mike
another good video. i'm going to go the same size in july when i do a peak coil over and block setup. probably go with the falken wildpeak at3 as it's the daily driver. i may try to get a second set of stock wheels and do a swamper setup with 10.5x34 17 for any real off roading. i will say the falken do really well in most situations. i'll be adding pictures to my build thread on colorado fans. good to see your granddaughter still hanging in there. 😉
Great content and color choice! I have a '21 Duramax ZR2 Bison in Orange Crush. I am putting a leveling kit on it and upgrading to 33s like in this video. But my question is where did you get the rock slider steps? Have not seen those before.
Did you ever figure it out? ive been trying to find them all night since I found my dad's old zr2 rock slides fit my stock colorado lol. Edit: Nevermind, I scrolled a little further and found his answer to someone else, if youre still looking he said 589 fabrication is where he got them!
I don’t have the ZR2. I have the Z71 but the bed is the same. I’m eventually going to get a RETRAX POWERTRAXPRO XR TONNEAU COVER with a LEITNER DESIGNS ACS FORGED TONNEAU - RACK ONLY - Chevrolet. This bed rack can come with various mounting options including minted boxes for storage.
Those are the rock slider steps from 589 fabrication. I talk about them a little in this video below. I had them powder coated to match. I really think that makes it. I think we’re currently the only zr2 that has them color matched. ua-cam.com/video/oJdC_b6m7_Y/v-deo.html
We used the ready lift kit. It’s a 1.25” level. We really like it. It was made really well, the quality is great. It gives perfect clearance for our set up. If you look at the description there’s a Amazon link to the same ready lift kit that we used. It’s perfect height without worrying about throwing your axle angles off
Looks like cooper has the same tire in 255/75/17 as well ( still a pizza cutter). Does that (75) in stead (80) make the over all diameter a 32 inch in stead of a 33 inch. I can't seem to find the diameter specs on tire rack. I am just trying to figure out if that (75) side wall will help slightly with any potential rubbing? Load rating is a C instead of an E .Again thank you for this video and information. Shoot I found it, Yes the difference between the 75 and the 80 is i inch in diameter.
@@MrRyanmcmahon you’re correct. That will make the tire a 32” from what I see it’s 32.06. That being said. Each tire manufacturer builds the exact same tire size slightly different. So if you’re going with a 32 I’d go with the largest 32 you can find. Otherwise, as soon as you put some miles on you’ll be in the 31” range. Hope this helps
Okay so I have a question un related to the tire size I just ordered the 2-in 589 Fab Rock slider extenders, in your personal opinion does this now make the rock slider functional as a step?
Walter, that’s a great question. I feel that they look better than they function for everyday use. What I mean is, when it’s icy out or muddy, you can actually step up on it. Or if you change the way you get in and out of the truck it works well. That being said, if you’re wearing nice clothes and try to step out on the ground then your pants get dirty because the step sticks out. All that being said, we actually like them
On my new 2024 zr2 it came with 285/70R17 goodywar terriroty m/t tires. I am thinking about going with 295/70R17 or 305/70R17 new tires by either toyo, yokohoma or cooper. But those skinnies 255 width pizza cutter skinnies tires make more sense for better fuel economy.
I like your video man! Its awesome work! Do you think if i have a zr2 bison with the more offset fender flares it will work too(255/80/17). Also do you need to put the leveling kit to clear or with no leveling kit it will fit with no rubbing?
I would recommend the level. They’re super cheap. Now for the ready lift one we used they’re on Amazon for like $115. If you check out our Level video there’s a link to the exact part. It can be done in your garage with basic hand tools. My wife and I knocked it out in under two hours while filming the process. Thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback
Maybe it’s in the comments and I didn’t see it. Do you think putting the 1” lift in the back and 2” in front. That the rear would gain a bit more clearance? Thank you for the great video.
I just bought the exact same size tire for my 2019 ZR2...going slightly mad researching this!! I haven't had the tires installed yet..Talked to people at 4 wheel parts, told me the ZR2 already has the leveling system etc... will these fit without the 1.25 leveling kit?! My goal is to get the 4" BDS suspension lift installed, (down the road) and the folks at BDS don't recommend NOT doing the leveling kit in unison with their suspension. Will I be able to get away with just grocery getting without a leveling kit for now?! Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
You’re right estevan. The zr2 has slightly flared fenders. And the z71 has a bumper that might get in the way. I’d look at 255/ 75 17 or 265/ 70 17 if you want zero rubbing at full flex
Are there any 255/80R17 LRC on the market? One thing you didn't compare was the weight to the stock tire (42 lbs). How big of an impact does the 58 lb tire have (a 38% increase) on NVH and MPG?
I’m curious about your rock sliders! Where did you get the Orange/step on your rock sliders? I have a 2024 ZR2 and would love to have a step for mine and still keep my factory sliders and clearance!
Great video, I'm new to the chevy colorado ZR2 and really love it, I assume a 33" tire won't fit in the spare tire well? After watching this I'm convinced with going with that same tire size.
@@DustinFaddis thanks, it would be nice to know although I think I really want to get a hitch tire carrier and get the tire out from underneath. Thanks to your videos my want list has gotten even longer 😆
There are definitely lots of factors that go into it…. Like you said, bfgs run small. They’re like shoes. You can’t just go by size 😆 thanks for watching Karl
@Jason Yang these are all good questions Jason. Sorry didn’t cover more on the video. I just didn’t want it going like 30 minutes or more trying to cover all possibilities. Just like Karl said, some manufactures or brands run small. BFG is one of those brands.
Thank you for a great video. Questions on the 275 70 17 on stock wheels will this only hit at full turn and full flex or will it rub under normal driving? Thank you
Thanks for watching Mark. A 265/80 17 would definitely rub on the front of the rear fender at full flex. I’m not sure the difference in size would be worth worrying about. I believe it would clear up front without issues. Surprisingly each truck is slightly different. I’ve seen 2 zr2 trucks with the same tire and size… on one truck it rubbed slightly the other truck it didn’t.
Nice that’s good to hear. Do you get any rubbing at full flex? Also did you do anything to the cut edge of your fender to prevent rust for long term? Being up here in Alaska they put a lot of corrosive stuff on the roads in the late winter and spring. Thanks for watching Steven.
@@DustinFaddis No rub at full flex. I used brush on rustoleum on the trimmed sheet metal. My new tires are 52lbs, didn't notice any change in acceleration, a bit more brake pedal at low speed. The E rated rides stiffer, I run 34psi (hot) from the chalk test for contact pattern.
@@madcratebuilder sounds like you've got a great setup. Wildpeaks are great tires. I agree that E rated tires definitely make the ride a little stiffer. Are you on Instagram?
Great video man. I went with the Toyos in this size and i dig em. Were you able to stuff a spare in this size under it or is that just the stock spare? Im just a bit apprehensive driving too far with the stock spare. Thanks man.
@DustinFaddis @ktmxcw4501 or anyone else. I've been wondering the same thing about stuffing a spare of the same size under the truck. Has anyone replaced the stock spare with a 33" tire, and still able to get it to fit in the spare compartment? Appreciate any input.
@ so what i did was just move the heat-shield over a bit. Drill some new holes in the support. Didnt have to move it much. I have the diesel and live in AZ so was worried about the heat. Drove it through the summer with 115 ambient temps so hot exhaust, no issues. I took my laser temp gun with me for a bit and would check the heat at the point where the shield was closest to the tire and it never got hot really at all. I had to buy a bunch of those plastic push fasteners because i was missing several on the truck as the heat in AZ just fries them. So i replaced the ones on the heat shield when i moved it over. To summarize, about 20k miles now and all is good👍
@@ktmxcw4501 Thank you very much for the reply and the narrative, puts it in perspective. I'm considering the same size tire in the video, which he deserves a lot of thanks for. It's very well thought out, and presented. My wife and I love Arizona, thinking of heading to Tucson in a month, to get away from this Missouri winter. There's also a lot of great boondocking there. Thanks again! 👍
Love the info in the video! I do have a question though and hope you respond, I have a Z71, not a ZR2. What are the chances the 255/80R17 will rub on the z71 front bumper?
So, unfortunately I believe that they will rub. The zr2 has wider fenders and a 2” lift from stock. I think that you would have to add a 3” to comfortably fit them. That could still leave you with a little trimming. There are some nice lifts out there if you’re ready to go all out
@@DustinFaddis yeah I had a feeling it would be a little much, might just go ahead and stick to the 265/65s for now, sounds like maybe 265/70 for the KO2s as the sore lugs don’t stick out too far. Thanks for the quick response!
@@larryburrow6278 congrats on the purchase. How are you liking the diesel? I just did a video on installing an XXL fuel tank on my Ram truck. I was wanting to do it on my zr2 to extend the range but they don’t make gas tanks… only diesel 😔
@@turley52 I’d say with a 2 or 3” lift you might have to slightly shave your front bumper just a touch. But that’s just a guess, I haven’t actually seen the setup in person. I’d go for it…. 6” rough country lift you’ll have no issues
Doing some research for my 2024 Chevy Colorado and found your video. Do you think the 1.25 leveling kit would still be required to avoid rubbing on those same tires if put on a -12 offset wheel?
Great video! One question: people in the ZR2 Facebook group have posted that they’ve experience rubbing and fenders popping off with this size, even with additional lift. Since you made this, have you had any rubbing issues with just a 1.25 inch level?
Thanks for the feedback. I’ve seen that a lot on Facebook. I tried to flex it as much as I could. There was a few times that it got extremely close but never touched. I was taking it easy though. I could see if you go through some huge ruts real fast or really beating the crap out of the truck it’s possible it could rub. So the short answer is… mine doesn’t rub. But if you’re slamming it around off-road it is possible. 😆 thanks for watching. We appreciate the support.
@@DustinFaddis Thanks for the response! I can only find 255/80 in an E-load range. Would you say you experienced any significant declines in ride comfort, engine performance, and/or MPG? I’d love to get the Wildpeak AT3w tires in that size but I’m hesitant to put E rated tires on such a light truck.
@@stingrayray3413 I E load range on my truck and it still drives great. I’ve noticed a slight decrease in acceleration. And no significant mileage change. I haven’t noticed a change in ride comfort.
@@stingrayray3413 id check overall tire weight and go with the lightest tire. At least one of the lightest tires so it won’t change engine performance or mpg.
Yes. Mentioned a few times in comments he is only running 1 1/2 level up front and likely don't need it as he had not rubbed, but got close to rubbing on back tire.
Thanks Justin. Well it depends on exactly what you mean by ground clearance. The front bumper is up over 3 inches. Technically the lowest part of the truck. “The rear axle” , only raises as much as the tire that you put on. This tire is over 2.5” taller maybe closer to 3” so that would make the lowest part of the truck about 1.5” higher. It doesn’t seem like much but your rear axle is actually a little higher with this set up than it would be with a lift and using 285/70 17 tires if that makes sense. Thanks for watching.
Great question. I’ve actually been unable to get a 5th tire up here in Alaska. Most companies are telling me that it’s unavailable to ship to my location. So I’m not sure yet. As soon as I get one I’ll post an update. I’m actually considering getting these same tires on my dually, so maybe if I buy 7 they will ship them. Thanks for watching
Awesome video and explaining of tire sizes! I just bought a 2020 colorado zr2 and I didn't know what the stock tire size was supposed to be. I bought the truck from a Chevy dealership and they told me everything was stock. I bought the truck and on my way home I noticed my speedo was off by 5mph. Checked the Tire size and they're 255/80/17 Exact same brand tire as in your video. I don't think the truck has a leveling kit or anything either. I didn't notice any rubbing yet, so I should be good. just don't know what has been done to the truck since I was told it was stock haha
Great video, I am considering purchasing the same sized tires for a zr2 but I will not be putting a leveling kit in for some time. Any idea on how the rubbing would be for the stock zr2 on road without any crazy flex? The only information I can seem to find for stock ride height is on 285/70/17 tires, Im wondering if most of the rubbing would still be alleviated in the 255s.. Thanks
Thanks for watching Curtis. When we took the truck out and flexed it as much as we could, the tires were nowhere near rubbing in the front. So I can imagine that they would rub much without the 1.25” level. Especially if you’re not flexing off-road. Are you still running stock rims?
Glad it was helpful Damon. I just added a link to the ready lift leveling kit that we used from Amazon. It’s in the description. They have a great build quality and they’re pretty inexpensive. Currently they’re running about $115. Thanks again for watching.
We’re real happy we went this route. When off-roading the side of the truck has stayed a lot cleaner haha. Every little bit helps. The extra height helps when we cross through creeks. I think it looks great too. Are you planning to run the same setup? Thanks for watching Ron.
Yes likely go with similar setup. I don’t want to cut up my fenders. I have enjoyed the GY Wrangler Duratracs tires for wear, traction and noise. Are the Coopers noisy on hwy?
@@ronpoirier41 I didn’t want to cut my fender either. At least while it’s this new. The Coopers are noisier at hwy speed but that’s due to their more aggressive tread pattern.
Question? Are the mudflaps by WeatherTech? Interested in them. No the best looking, but like you said....they wont win any beauty contest, but they get the job done. Thanks man. Also again, thanks for the informative content.
The mud flaps are weather tech. They’re great quality but again they’re mud flaps so not real cool. They have really helped keeping mud and rocks off the truck. Well reduced anyway haha. Thanks for the feedback. We appreciate it.

@@justkillintime7554 I agree, the mud flaps are made really well and fit perfect. My wife loves the steps. I was going to paint then black but the wife wanted them powder coated to Color match. She was right I think they look great like that.
How many bottles of Armor All were used in the making of this video? Great intro and drone shots. Anybody ever tell you that you sound like John C. Reilly? You might have a future as a voice double in Hollywood.
For two reasons, there isn’t a big variety of off-road tires in that size and we were going for the tallest tire that we could fit. The 255/80 17 odd an inch and a half taller. Thanks for watching and commenting Robert.
This is by far the best video I've seen explaining everything. Thank you, very well done. I'm leaning towards the 255/80 R17. Have you noticed any difference in traction losing about a half inch of tread width? Or do you think the tires look to skinny? I cant really tell from the video.
I appreciate the feedback. I have not noticed a traction loss. The width difference from stock is only 1 centimeter total. As for how they look. The useable tread is a centimeter less but the tire sidewall has thicker tread so they look just as wide as the stock tires. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
@@DustinFaddis - I wonder if this size would mount okay on my 2021 AT4 Canyon. I wouldn’t mind leveling it. Just, I like it as stock at least until I get some miles on it. I tried looking at upgrading shocks, but the pandemic made for shipping disruptions. I am 66 now an really scope-out terrain before getting in to a bad situation. Its a fun truck in stock form, I call it my Subaru with a low range just for giggles. I doubt I even install skids under it I’m that careful. Maybe when economy returned to normal.
@@garbinator09 definitely would not. The at4 only has an extra 1.25" of clearance over a stock Colorado or canyon. The zr2 is an extra 2.25". And the 255 width tire needs a 1" level lift on top of the extra clearance a zr2 gives.

Very good and correct explanation of the tire size info on the sidewall, one of very few vids where this is done correctly. Secondly, the tire weight is often overlooked as being such a huge factor on HP, and gas mileage, again very well done. This is exactly the information that I was looking for!! I have a 2019 Bison that I will need tires soon... and was looking at larger tires that I could fit without major modifications... this video was great! Glad I came across it...
Glad to hear you got something out of it. Thanks for watching Jaime
Did you ever end up putting these on your Bison? About to order some for mine.
@@5herko nope. Ended up getting rid of my Bison. Sorry😕
Wow, that’s a lot of great info. This is the best tire video I’ve seen.
I really like that wheel and tire combo. I'm going to run the stock tires on my 2022 ZR2, for now. If I switched, I'd go with the ones on yours.
We really like the combo as well. Congrats on your purchase of your zr2. We love the truck. Thanks for watching
Great video, thanks for the info. What is the difference in the overall gas mile when driving conservatively?
Great question. A lot of people say you don’t buy a truck like this for gas mileage, which is true... but, you definitely don’t want to ruin the gas mileage either. Real world, in town I get 14mpg. When my wife drives she gets 16.5mpg So what that really means to me is that the more conservative you drive the less it will affect you. I used to get around 15mpg before the tires. We have seen little to no change when my wife drives. I hope that helps and I didn’t start rambling 😆 thanks for watching.
@@DustinFaddis Thanks I'm debating on making the move up and this helps.

Thanks for standing by
Where do you find the bolt on steps for the rock sliders? I can't find them anywhere!
Check 589 fabrication
Great video, very informative. Thank you. Please tell me what that red strip between the rock sliders is. Is it a step?
Thanks for watching Shelley. That is a step that bolts onto the stock rock sliders. We picked it up at 589 fabrication. I talk about it a little in another video while going over the mods we’ve done.
Here’s the other video.

Great video, very informative. Question, did you notice a difference in breaking with your tire choice? Thanks for posting.
Great question. We haven’t noticed a difference in braking or and just a slight difference in acceleration. Nothing that can’t be fixed with a tune. Haha
I love it man, you have me sold on this setup
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. Glad I could help.
Was you able to get th e same size tire under the truck were they are stored
I haven’t tested that yet but I will as soon as we get our snow tires removed
@@DustinFaddis do you think they fit on there to street drive to the lift to put the level kit in haha?
@@yermoffroad yeah, I think they will fit for just street driving until you put the level on … just no jumping speed bumps 😆

Not sure this is the set up for me but does anyone know if the Bison with the non himark flares can run this set up too?
If you don't have the highmark flares you'll have the same clearance. Minus a little up front due to the bison front bumper. The front will not matter though. There's plenty of room. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Looks great!
What kind of block heater did you put on? Or was it from factory?
What's the insert in the rock sliders
They’re 589 fabrication rock slider steps. They shipped to us bare metal and we powder coated them to match
Just the info I needed, put the GM performance lift on, the" correct" way to lift the zr2...and changed the rear leafs to Deavers for an 1.5" lift, because I have an alu-cab on.... Came up and leveled it, Wanted to make sure the 255/80r17 would work without out trimming or rubbing
Thank you 🙏 already ordered the tires...😬
Have been meaning to come back around on this helpful video. Thanks for all the information! Confirmed, my 2022 Bison is on 265/65 17 Wranglers. Once those wear out it just makes sense to finally give the right look and functionality to my Bison by going with the 255/80 r17 setup with the 1.25 leveling kit. Is there a preference on leveling kit? And is there a software update I need to do in order to calibrate speedometer? Again thanks - Mike
I think the leveling kits are all made well and they’re so simple it doesn’t matter. Just stick with the 1.25
The moment I put wider tires on my Wrangler back in the day I regretted it. Wide for the mud, skinny for the snow!
Greetings tremendous video what it's called and what brand is the orange cover it has on the rock rails.
Wouldn't the truck have less grip with skinnier tires if you drive in snow/ice?
another good video. i'm going to go the same size in july when i do a peak coil over and block setup. probably go with the falken wildpeak at3 as it's the daily driver. i may try to get a second set of stock wheels and do a swamper setup with 10.5x34 17 for any real off roading. i will say the falken do really well in most situations. i'll be adding pictures to my build thread on colorado fans. good to see your granddaughter still hanging in there. 😉

Great content and color choice! I have a '21 Duramax ZR2 Bison in Orange Crush. I am putting a leveling kit on it and upgrading to 33s like in this video.

@@DustinFaddis great thank you very much.

Nice video I have the same truck. You can Tell me were You’re found the orange covers of the bars 🔥
What are those slider/stepbars you have on that truck? I've yet to see something like that can be paintmatched? Looks great. Great video.
Congrats on the bison by the way
Perfect then i will take a look at that thanks man!

Wonder if this is the same with a z71 doubt it tho since the zr2 has extended fenders
You’re right estevan. The zr2 has slightly flared fenders. And the z71 has a bumper that might get in the way. I’d look at 255/ 75 17 or 265/ 70 17 if you want zero rubbing at full flex
I like it. Great informative vid. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching Mike. I appreciate the feedback.
Are there any 255/80R17 LRC on the market? One thing you didn't compare was the weight to the stock tire (42 lbs). How big of an impact does the 58 lb tire have (a 38% increase) on NVH and MPG?
A plug? Did you get h the diesel and put a heater in the engine?
I’m curious about your rock sliders! Where did you get the Orange/step on your rock sliders? I have a 2024 ZR2 and would love to have a step for mine and still keep my factory sliders and clearance!
Great video, I'm new to the chevy colorado ZR2 and really love it, I assume a 33" tire won't fit in the spare tire well? After watching this I'm convinced with going with that same tire size.

Very informative video. Thanks for the great tips and visually showing the results.

Thanks for the content. Do you think you could run a 265/80/17?
Thanks for watching Mark. A 265/80 17 would definitely rub on the front of the rear fender at full flex. I’m not sure the difference in size would be worth worrying about. I believe it would clear up front without issues. Surprisingly each truck is slightly different. I’ve seen 2 zr2 trucks with the same tire and size… on one truck it rubbed slightly the other truck it didn’t.
Do a best LED next. The aev 33" trim and 1.5 lift fits a 10.5x34" on my truck with oem wheels. E rated Wildpeaks.
Do you think those tires would fit on a GMC Canyon? I plan on throwing a 3 inch lift on it.
I think if you add a 3” lift the tires should fit. The zr2 has a 2” factory lift and I added a 1.25” spacer. I think you should have room

Great video. Looking to beef up my 2022 Colorado. Can I run your setup on wheels with a 2” level.
Yes. Mentioned a few times in comments he is only running 1 1/2 level up front and likely don't need it as he had not rubbed, but got close to rubbing on back tire.
Great video. I have a bison. How much ground clearance did you gain from stock? Or maybe I missed it.
Where did you get the colored inserts for the panel protectors? I have a blue zr2 and want to put them on mine.
Did you have any clearance problems with a taller tire in the stock, spare tire location?
Great question. I’ve actually been unable to get a 5th tire up here in Alaska. Most companies are telling me that it’s unavailable to ship to my location. So I’m not sure yet. As soon as I get one I’ll post an update. I’m actually considering getting these same tires on my dually, so maybe if I buy 7 they will ship them. Thanks for watching
Awesome video and explaining of tire sizes! I just bought a 2020 colorado zr2 and I didn't know what the stock tire size was supposed to be. Thanks for watching Curtis. When we took the truck out and flexed it as much as we could, the tires were nowhere near rubbing in the front. So I can imagine that they would rub much without the 1.25” level. Especially if you’re not flexing off-road. Are you still running stock rims?

@@ronpoirier41 I didn’t want to cut my fender either. At least while it’s this new. The Coopers are noisier at hwy speed but that’s due to their more aggressive tread pattern.

For two reasons, there isn’t a big variety of off-road tires in that size and we were going for the tallest tire that we could fit. The 255/80 17 odd an inch and a half taller. Thanks for watching and commenting Robert.
What’s the biggest I can go with a 1.25 inch leveling kit
So when are you going to lift it and get 35's?
When I add a supercharger lol
@@InvertedInsight - Thank you understood. Guess it’ll stay stock.
