You should go to college first. It will open up so many opportunities
Vincent I am getting my flight training through the college I am attending and will have a BS in commercial aeronautics when I graduate
Bobby Bays do a lot of colleges have a flight school in them or is it rare? What college are you going to
Nate Mahony Im not honestly sure how many colleges offer a flight school but I will be attending Liberty University in the fall of 2021

TBH, I'd rather fly the paraglider.
Antonov An-225
@@2isceez Think about it... it gets back to the roots of flying. It's just you, your machine, and the view. Now, if I were trying to get somewhere in a reasonable amount of time I'd take the 380 (Though with where I go, if I'm not driving it'll usually be a 737/A320 Neo). But if I were given either of those craft to fly for recreation I'd choose the paraglider 10 times out of 10
Kudos for the Video! Forgive me for the intrusion, I am interested in your opinion. Have you considered - Rozardner Flying Bird Reality (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? Kelsey, I wish you were around 40 years ago when I started flying. I got side-tracked and ran out of money so many times it was ridiculous. I wish that I had an aviation mentor. I really enjoy all of your videos. Keep up the fantastic work.

I’m not sure how I missed this video (thanks, UA-cam!), but I’m very happy I found it. I’ve been trying to find a more streamlined resource about what getting one’s pilot license entails, and this video has helped cleared at least some of the confusion I had. Thank you.
Thanks man, that was really good. I was thinking to finish flight school. Obtain my private pilot license. Get more practice flying then go apply to the regional airline. I kind of like regional and rather stay there and finish my career with them. Because of my age - 45. Plus, also get my commercial and multiple engine licenses as well. Can't forget that. Thank you so much for sharing and posting this video. So educational and fun to watch. You are really helpful
Just discovered your channel recently. Watched more recent stuff first. You've come a long way, boss. Not that this video is bad... your production and personal presentation is much better now. 😃

It is now become my wish, my longing, to finally commence a wondrous functioning of that Dream.

Have watched a ton of Kelsey's posts without a specific reason and finally decided I should subscribe - here I am at the very first post. Thanks for all of them! (Finally) subscribed! Like most during the pandemic times I have become an armchair traveler, so I guess that is one reason I watch Kelsey and Petter's posts.
Gosh! I almost fell off my chair! Kelsey actually blinked several times in this video!
But he still looks like a boiled owl lol
I think he edits his blinks out to maintain eye contact with you.
Thank you Kelsey, I’m planning on going to Moncton Flight College up here in Canada, I am hoping that after all my qualifications are done I’d have a job immediately in the regional area of flying and I plan to fly more domestically, especially here in Canada. I’d love to fly the turbo props or the Dash 8 Q400s or the Embraers/ CRJs.
Yeah good for you

Been watching your videos for a while..really good show..thanks. I don't fly much..in fact probably not since one or two flights mid 1980's haha..Ya they had planes then too..but I flew a lot as a kid in the mid 60's..first in big prop planes then early jets..later military transports and similar.. but haven't needed to fly much since the early days. It costs around £80000 I understand to become an airline pilot.
A friend of mine is an examiner instructor and flies cargo jets for DHL, he can fly 747s, im so envious lol
He gave me some flying lessons which was amazing and the Trevor Toms Books look quite a challenge.
We have a multi jet at Leeds and Bradford Uk who train for light aircraft and passenger jets.
do you know any good flight schools?
Sheesh... that's $110,083.92 in the USA. Damn... Wish like hell I'd known that, well... I'm sure it was cheaper 40 yrs ago, if I wanted to be a pilot. WAY too late for me to start now. Plus I would not be able to start a pilot career now even if I could afford it! I'm 58... I'd have to retire in a few yrs... lol, doesn't make sense to do it now. Bummer 🥴😄
I'll let you know once I get my licenses!
Damn 74, you an FO in a 74-4... Thats a great gig. To bad the big bird is no more. The finest airplane ever made!!!! Good friend of mine flew those for 10 yrs, retired in 2006 at age 46 after 26 yrs... Started in a Lear at 19, part 135 then and got a 73-3 Type at 21. No regional requirements then. I really love your videos because it gives me a new perspective about the aviation industry and it gives me reassurance of what I can expect in the near future. I’m 18, currently a freshman in college in Texas. what is the best state in the US to do flight school?
I'm thnking about leaving HVAC and getting into this industry. Ill gladly live in an RV for a couple of years and paying nothing on rent.
I've been thinking about skipping to a four bar Captain but I have one very important question. Will the uniform pants cover my house arrest ankle bracelet? If not I can cut it off but it would probably be better if I didn't...
Congrats on 200k subs!
Thanks for the great video! I have a question, can you start instructing right after getting your ppl?
Atabak Hejabiyan No you had to obtain your private license first, then instrument rating, followed by commercial rating. Only then can you begin working towards your CFI rating to instruct.

You've come a long way baby..😁
I'm 14 and I wanna be a airline pilot
But I still have tons of questions
Like
Do I need a college degree?
Do I need to study over seas?
Same
You don't need a college degree in order to go to a flight school and get a pilot licence. It depends on the airline if you need a college degree when you apply for a job. Major airlines can require a college degree for their pilots, so in this case the college degree is an advantage if you want to be a pilot in a major airline. You don't need to study overseas, you can get your training in your own country.

Hi. Last night I decided to become a pilot. I’m a 45 year old rock musician. Healthy. Not a criminal. I’m very inspired by the information you presented in this video. In your professional opinion, is my age a negative factor in this endeavor? I’m very serious about this.
At any rate, thank you so much!
Try asking on Reddit, although I don't know how helpful they will be but you can try. Good luck
Your age doesn't prevent you to get into aviation. People have done it and they have started their career at your age. The only thing now which can make things complicated is this Covid19, because we don't know how long this situation will last. There are also airline pilot forums in the net where airline pilots share their opinions.
I work part time while completing my PPL and hoping to get into a flight school in Texas, the weather here in WA is horrible. Lessons cancelled constantly and I'm sick of it, moving to Texas.
Thanks for the vids. Great info.
I have 2000+ rotary wing, with instrument, multi-engine, and instructor (Army pilot). How does this time translate to being marketable to the airlines? What would you recommend next? Thanks again.
74 Gear - Thanks for the reply and advice. Hope to see you up there someday!
A little. A lot of flight schools are offering RTC Rotor Transition Courses.
It's amazing how far Kelsey has come in his "Youtubing" skills since he started!
I searched for "How to become a commercial pilot", and when I saw a 74Gear video in the search results, I thought, _Oh great, it's Kelsey. I watch pretty much all his videos. He'll explain the whole process clearly!"_
Lol... Nope! After watching this whole video, I have no idea exactly what the different levels of licensure are, what the requirements of each are, how long each one takes, which ones you need to fly for which kinds of airlines, how to transition between them, etc. Basically, I have no idea how to become a commercial pilot, lol. I picked up that I might have to take a vacation from work, and that once I _do_ manage to get whatever license I need, I can pretty much be guaranteed a job in the industry if I'm not a felon.
A lot of people don't give youtubers any credit-- believing that they just "sit in a room in front of a camera and talk". And to a certain extent, that can sometimes be true. But if you think there's absolutely NO skill required to be a successful youtuber, I encourage you to watch this video, then watch a newer video on Kelsey's channel. Watch them back to back and tell me no skills have been acquired between the two.
