Screw the trans, you got the garden hose! This is huge. Finally no more built in yard sprinkler mid-hose. Nah man just kidding. I just can't wait to see this thing fully come together, it's going to be crazy. You are one of the best UA-camr's at explaining just about everything there is to, and it's a great learning experience. There will always be people analyzing and criticism towards what you do, whether it be constructive or otherwise. Can't wait to see more and sending good vibes for the rest of the build!
Damnit man, I fucking love your videos. Literally the only ones I get excited to see pop up in my notifications, and every one is worth the full watch. Thanks for them all, you're the man.
i looked it up and in a c6 zr1 corvette the theoretical top speed barring ind resistance and other frictions that would limit the top speed in 6th gear with a gear ratio of .50 at max rpm would be 324.9 mph or 522.9 kmh
Sean Lex actually, topic was t56 double overdrive is bad because 300+mph 6th gear and therefore bad because not close ratio. Eric Beene used ZR1 mission as example. It has a very close ratio; automatically disproving hypothesis high 6th gear necessarily means not close ratio. Plus, dropping a 4.44 FD behind ZR1 ratios brings gears down to normal levels. If people knew about FD effecting the perceived closeness of transmission ratios, they sure didn’t talk about it or show any signs of knowing about it.
I've watched Matt do that hot balancer install several times, and he really puts stuff through the torture test. I wouldn't hesitate doing it that way. People always wanna find a fault in the process, I don't understand people like that. I appreciate all the knowledge your sharing, so thanks..
I don't know if it's my internet finally playing at 1080p or what but this whole video is satisfying to the eye..... And yaaaaay finally got a garden hose!! 😂
I install all LS balancers by heating them and know many others that do as well. I've done at least 10 with a torch and never had an issue with the seal. Besides the fact that when the engine is running all those components are hot anyway, the crank is a large dense chunk of steel. It works like a big heat sink. As soon as the balancer is slid on alot of the heat is transferred to the crank. That's why as soon as the pulley is slid onto the crank, you can't just pull it back off, it cools rapidly
considering the engine would normally sit around 300 to 350f (water temp might be round 200-238ish) , the seals etc. are designed to take that heat lol it's like saying spark plug leads will melt right next to the headers which unless they're sitting right on top of them don't lol everything in the engine is designed to take extreme heat manufacturers test a lot of stuff to around 600-1000 degrees depending what it is.
It might already be too late, but I'd highly recommend a remote bleeder line in place of the stock hex bleeder on the LS slave. They trap air pretty badly and usually need to be bled a few times to get a consistent pedal feel. Love the build so far man, keep it up!
I work in a dealership and we all use impacts to disassemble and reassemble shit all the time. 90% of use have electric impacts (I'm the only one with all of the snapon stuff). It speeds things way up, which means moving metal, turning time and making money. If you use a ratchet for everything you're a fool and you're going to loose your ass. Plus, you can gauge how tight it was when you took it off with your impact vs how tight it needs to be when you've worked with impacts for a while. Smart men, and lady's use the best tool for the job.
Exactly! It seems like people have never worked with impacts. And even when hand tightening stuff after awhile you get a good feel for how tight something needs to be.
Re watching the build for fun and this is like, peak Taylor Ray. This music was the channel. You might not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.
I really enjoy all of the videos Taylor Ray. Thanks man. I really enjoy relaxing at night and watching them. I appreciate longer videos myself so thanks again.
there is so many people who comment on these videos who strictly know the theory part of everything not actually doing it... you can ALWAYS point these people out. keep doing what you're doing taylor seems to be going just fine lol.
Taylor a little trick I've learned over the years is to use a very thin layer of RTV and it might sound odd but get some 10-20 lb monofilament fishing line depending on the size of the part and lay that down into the RTV in the shape of the gasket overlapping where the ends meet..when torqued down it creates a very good seal better than RTV alone. I've never had a leak on anything since I started doing it.
im re watching this playlist to gather a parts list for a swap, and just enjoying the videos. there a part where your talking about inserting a clip about your rear main seal, then the screen just goes black for maybe 5 seconds. lol and honestly, i think you properly adressed the negative comments by not responding. even if it wasnt intentional lol
I want an LS swapped miata but everyone tells me im too tall. (I'm 6'3 btw) But seeing you doing it really makes me wanna do it now. Can't wait to see you finish it keep up the good work man!
I'm doing my first real big car project soon and you just helped me solve a huge problem. on top of that your videos are just making me more and more excited to get at this project. in case your wondering i'm cramming an LM7 into a fiber fab Jamaican that is onto of a triumph tr3 frame... should be pretty sweet
Great vid Tayler. Just a tip when tightening something flush you should tighten in top to bottom then side to side not moving around in a circle as that could potentially stop it sitting flush. Goes for wheels and basically anything that's ment to sit flush
Hey Taylor, I'm just stopping by to say once again man. I really really enjoy watching your videos. Your such a humble and relaxed dude and it just makes for great content. I commented on one of your videos not long ago and didn't think you would reply. And was absolutely blown away that you took the time to comment back. Again man keep up the awesome work and the great videos buddy. And if for any reason in the world you are ever in Vegas buddy it would awesome to meet up and get some lunch or a photo. Thanks again buddy, keep up the awesome vibe and great videos.
Taylor Ray awe man of course buddy. It's just really cool to see such a positive dude that takes pride in his craftsmanship. And to top it off be such an awesome dude. Thank you for who you are and what you do. And don't ever let anyone take that away from you. Thank you for being so cool to someone/people that you don't know and people that look up to you.
Taylor, I'm not one of those to say that you are doing things wrong. But I will say that when you were working on the LS it drove me personally crazy that you didn't remove the heads. That engine was sitting outside. Always, always, always remove the heads and check the cylinders. Especially since you had that stiff spot when you were rotating the engine. All it would have cost you is some new gaskets and an hour of your time for the peace of mind you would have gotten from visually inspecting the cylinder walls. I always remove the main caps and check the bearings too, but that is just me. Great vids though man, I'm enjoying the hell out of this build and can't wait to see the Mean Miata fire up.
Like I said before, it wasn't about the extra work of doing that. It's the problem of "while you're theres" Oh I might as well throw new rings in since this is this or that. Then it's 4 months later and the motors not together. For me, the most important part is getting it in the car and running. After that even If I had to pull it out and swap it, it's easy.
Excellent choice on the music my dude! I was surprised when I heard something new but it fits super well. Keep up the good work man, so hyped for you to finish your build.
I would highly suggest that you order a remote bleeder kit. If you’ve ever had to bleed a clutch in an Ls car you will know that it is a huge pain in the ass and the remote bleeder makes it so much easier.
dude i have been looking into collins adapter kits and am also scared of cutting a bellhousing but after this video i feel alot better about it great content
G'day mate. Awesome videos as always. I love watching them. Just make sure that the bronze bush for the spigot is packed with oil. They're meant to be packed with oil under pressure from your thumb 👍. They are porous. Cheers mate!
Great progress! Glad to see some updates on this build. I strongly considered that same transmission. I ended up with a GTO transmission, on a good deal. I think both are great, and I am not familiar with the nissan transmission aftermarket. The T56 dual overdrive sucks, but I am planning on buying new 5th and 6th gears in the future. The aftermarket for the T56 appears to be great. Lots of gear options, and rebuild kits aren't too expensive. I suspect that it's similar for the Nissan transmission. You do have a great point on the cost of transmission replacement though. If I destroy mine, i'll probably just rebuild with new gearing, vs buying a new transmission. Looking forward to seeing this thing run!
to the sealing thing.. i'm a mechanic and i've never seen someone heat something up and put a seal on it. that's a no no. Also the sealing "Backwarts.. never seen a sealing put on that way.. looks wronk, feels wrong. Don't get me wrong here.. you could be right, but seeing you scratching your head if it's the right way.. you know what i mean. It jsut looks like you don't know. But! I Trust you and i know these moments like.. "Yea you shouldn't heat it up.. but.. fuck it.. it's gonna be alright if it's not that hot" I do this so much myself.. You got this
Well the really nice thing about having the double overdrive is you can run a really short gear in the rear end and still be able to drive it on the freeway. I would recommend going and playing with the transmission calculator rear end and tire size. Can you can buy a brand new T56 for 3100 bucks fyi.
Taylor this is gonna be a bad ass ls swapped Mx-5 is gonna be Fast and fun as hell I can wait I don’t like some ls swapped fouren cars but it’s gonna be bad ass keep up the good work man!!👌🏽
Ok this is just a probably just a small thing but as a german CNC-programer I would have made the adapterplate so you dont need to cut something off of the trans every time you want to replace it with a new one when you brake it. (please tell me if I wrote this kinda wrong I want to get better with my english skills)
Forgot to put the clip in about the seal...lol Here is a link.drive.google.com/open?id=15DMZvTNqEHQgpIovZzHUAhBjnyUL4FK5
I thought I was tripping Taylor lol every body makes mistakes
I fucking died when it went dark then bak to you like if it was a joke lol
I thought that was hilarious. Thanks for the link.
Taylor Ray secret viddy👌👌
You got your hose!!! Congrats 👍
this car is going to feel insannnneee!! cannot wait to see it dropped in the engine bay
It looks perfect in there!
Jimmmyyyyyyyyyy....a legend watching a legend doing legendary shit.
Time to ls swap steph's miata now jimmy 🤣
Jimmy Oakes yes can’t wait because it’s taking fucking forever !!!
You just keep marking your fire vids though !!!
Screw the trans, you got the garden hose! This is huge. Finally no more built in yard sprinkler mid-hose.

Wow that video explaining the rear main seal was amazing.
The cool factor is TR is authentic dude. Lots of phonies out there
Damnit man, I fucking love your videos. Literally the only ones I get excited to see pop up in my notifications, and every one is worth the full watch. Thanks for them all, you're the man.
Buying the garden hose was half the problem now all you need to do is remember that you bought a new one lol but that valve cover looks SICK.
i looked it up and in a c6 zr1 corvette the theoretical top speed barring ind resistance and other frictions that would limit the top speed in 6th gear with a gear ratio of .50 at max rpm would be 324.9 mph or 522.9 kmh
dank
It’s all about the final drive. ZR1 gears are super close ratio... the FD is just high. It does like 70mph in first gear.
teamJRism i think he understands that.
Sean Lex actually, topic was t56 double overdrive is bad because 300+mph 6th gear and therefore bad because not close ratio. Eric Beene used ZR1 mission as example. Sean Lex cool, next time I’ll just read everyone’s mind.
The best part about your channel is that you actually build it yourself, thats the best way to learn in my mind and how I go about all of my builds.
I've watched Matt do that hot balancer install several times, and he really puts stuff through the torture test. I wouldn't hesitate doing it that way. People always wanna find a fault in the process, I don't understand people like that. I appreciate all the knowledge your sharing, so thanks..
it makes me so happy to hear all the AvE references

there is so many people who comment on these videos who strictly know the theory part of everything not actually doing it... you can ALWAYS point these people out. keep doing what you're doing taylor seems to be going just fine lol.
Dude if you ever see this just gotta say you’re my fucking hero been watching you from the jump you literally inspire me to be better
Taylor is the man dude. Doing ls swaps in his little garage. Props good sir keep cranking out these drift missiles.
That car is going to riiiiip
I really appreciate your humility while making these videos.
im re watching this playlist to gather a parts list for a swap, and just enjoying the videos. there a part where your talking about inserting a clip about your rear main seal, then the screen just goes black for maybe 5 seconds. lol and honestly, i think you properly adressed the negative comments by not responding. even if it wasnt intentional lol
I was so much wishing for a late night upload! (In Central Europe) thanks Taylor!
Loving these long videos Taylor 👍
Salty Sasquatch no homo
I want an LS swapped miata but everyone tells me im too tall. (I'm 6'3 btw) But seeing you doing it really makes me wanna do it now. Can't wait to see you finish it keep up the good work man!
YAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! GARDEN HOSE!!!!!!!! now i have nothing to pick on you about........i has a sad.
i love the little notes your put in when you edit. Adds so much to the video
Garden hose let's gooo boi!!xD 😛!!Can't wait to see it dropped in!!I don't know why but I got a jaguar vibe from the whole ls!!❤
Great vid Tayler. Just a tip when tightening something flush you should tighten in top to bottom then side to side not moving around in a circle as that could potentially stop it sitting flush. Goes for wheels and basically anything that's ment to sit flush
Great work but a little heavy on the rtv. Two machined finishes. That's gonna ooze just as much inside as it did outside
Hey Taylor, I'm just stopping by to say once again man. I really really enjoy watching your videos. Your such a humble and relaxed dude and it just makes for great content. Never thought of it that way. Definitly going to have to use a CD009 when i LS swap the SL500!
eating thin mints and watching this, keep it up brah
caramel deLites here!
Did you freeze them?
Nope, just tossed whats left of them in the freezer ;)
This video is a piece of arts! The songs just match the scenes and i can fell the quality. Really really good contends! Good job.
That was a dope intro. You always pick some of that lo-fi old school hip hop type stuff. I love it.
Taylor, I'm not one of those to say that you are doing things wrong. But I will say that when you were working on the LS it drove me personally crazy that you didn't remove the heads. Khorsathedark and the LS is the easiest engine ever to take heads off takes no time at all
Like I said before, it wasn't about the extra work of doing that. It's the problem of "while you're theres" Oh I might as well throw new rings in since this is this or that. Taylor Ray Right, I know what you mean. It starts to turn into a huge project with the domino effect
Understood sir, it was just a personal thing to twitch over. I have broken open many a used motor and then gone, "cool" and slapped it back together.
Taylor Ray yep, the while I'm there gets expensive. Me last month on mine
Excellent choice on the music my dude! I was surprised when I heard something new but it fits super well. Keep up the good work man, so hyped for you to finish your build.
Your def one of my top 3 channel's I watch! Your awesome man and your video's have came a long way!
I could watch hours of these videos. Keep up the good work!
Chanel is getting better with every video! Good stuff!
I kept commenting about the gardening hose for the past couple of videos for the luls and you actually got one
Just some quick tips. Spit on your finger when spreading rtv, keeps it from sticking to your finger
I would highly suggest that you order a remote bleeder kit. If you’ve ever had to bleed a clutch in an Ls car you will know that it is a huge pain in the ass and the remote bleeder makes it so much easier.
Al J agreed
These videos are so well put together, really enjoy watching this whole series
Garden hose FTW!! Good job, Taylor.
I love these 30 minutes videos. I like Lots of long content!
Love the details and taking in consideration the feed back u get , favorite UA-camr along side with motion auto and adam lz
I paid 800 for my cd009 brandnew still in the plastic wrap. Deal of a life tims
Taylor finally got himself a Garden Hose that isn't full of holes and cuts.
dude i have been looking into collins adapter kits and am also scared of cutting a bellhousing but after this video i feel alot better about it great content
Cinematography is getting better!
Love your videos so much because of the 30 minutes of pure entertainment and learning thank you!
C6 Z06 specs: 7100 limit, 3.42 R/P, .50 6th gear with a 25.6 tire has a top speed of 316MPH.
Wow nice to see this build comeing along very well I can't wait to continue on with my build on my truck
G'day mate. Awesome videos as always. I love watching them. Just make sure that the bronze bush for the spigot is packed with oil. They're meant to be packed with oil under pressure from your thumb 👍. They are porous. Cheers mate!
Been watching your videos for a long time now man, really enjoy them. I’m in the middle of swapping a ls6 in to my nb
Great progress! Glad to see some updates on this build.

Thanks to this video, my goal for an ls powered e46 lives on
to the sealing thing.. i'm a mechanic and i've never seen someone heat something up and put a seal on it. that's a no no.
Also the sealing "Backwarts.. never seen a sealing put on that way.. looks wronk, feels wrong.

I do this so much myself..
You got this
That intro scene paired with the music 👌
Loving the engine swap vids. Keep it up man. Watch your back when your lifting shit, you’re lifting stuff wrong
0:00 - 3:01 Don't worry about hurting T56 transmissions' feelings, bro. I promise they aren't sentient. No more trigger warnings for them lol gah
Well the really nice thing about having the double overdrive is you can run a really short gear in the rear end and still be able to drive it on the freeway. i love the quality of your videos now! keep it up taylor!
Keep up the good Work man! Like your vids, can't wait to see the miata go sideway again!
Taylor the video quality is on fleek'
Loving the built cant wait to see the motor in and angle kit in too👌👌 tool time would be awesome when you get tools cuz we all love new tools ;D
The person saying 200 degrees might have meant Celsius and not Fahrenheit
Alex Strömberg idk most people don’t think from others perspective. Americans just seem to get the most flack for it
Like how well you explain everything in detail
Don’t listen to the keyboard mechanics just do you 👍🏼
Awesome Video, Stoked on the progress! Lol at the outro too ahaha
I love every single video you make they are awesome
Taylor this is gonna be a bad ass ls swapped Mx-5 is gonna be Fast and fun as hell I can wait I don’t like some ls swapped fouren cars but it’s gonna be bad ass keep up the good work man!!👌🏽
10:20 start using loctite on crucial places like the slave cylinder. ;) Hard to reach and potentially lots of damage if a bolt gets close.
Super excited to see this finished... gonna be good time...
Hey Taylor, just so you know that rear main seal video wasn’t in the video 😂
Kyrie Anzalone its in the description, he forgot to put it in
Antun Magud ahhh, it wasn’t at the time when I commented. I refreshed the page and there it is!
Kyrie Anzalone I thought he left it out on purpose for humor reasons😂
Congrats on finally getting a new hose!
Two dislikes it’s Taylor Ray, nicest guy on UA-cam ( tied with jimmy oaks)
We have two bad ass builds going on My buddy’s LS S13 and my my SR20 79 celica motor, cradle, trans , and suspension
I think T56s are great, all the ones I've driven shifted awesome
That explanation clip was great.
Yayyyyyy for the garden hose about time 😂😂😂
GARDEN HOSE.. OMG YES SO STOKED FOR U BRO!
Intro is freaking fire oh my goshhhh😩😩😩
Thanks Brett for the parts!
Hey Taylor I love this build can't wait to see it run
Ok this is just a probably just a small thing but as a german CNC-programer I would have made the adapterplate so you dont need to cut something off of the trans every time you want to replace it with a new one when you brake it. (please tell me if I wrote this kinda wrong I want to get better with my english skills)
I think it’s time to upgrade that work bench.
Big thumbs up for the garden hose ! Haha
Just a little tip if you spit on your finger before touching any gasket sealer of caulk it will not stick to your skin.
How did you get the VSS to work with a manual non-GM trans?
Stop watching memes to see another awesome miata build 👌😂
