I like that Brisa/Enzo has thinner and slightly higher grinds on their scandis. My favorite knife at the moment is the Enzo Elver which Brisa told me they are no longer going to produce. I got the Kit 12C27n version for $49 off DLT trading. I'm absolutely pleased with it and wish I'd bought it years ago. It's basically a smaller Trapper style blade and their 12C27n has an excellent heat treat. I don't know why their 12C27n holds up so well it feels more like 14C28N.?
Anyways, I find that knives like the Mora Garberg, Bushcraft black are not high enough for the thickness of the blade like Jokers designs.
I totally agree , your woods knife preditor is the grind I've found to be the best overall grind.
I love your passion for these puukko style knives .
Finnish knives in general tend to have higher grinds than Swedish or Norwegian. The thing is with Morakniv is they don't seem to want to make the grind higher when they make a thicker knife. The angle should stay the same and the grind height should change. At least to my mind, we all have our preferences.
I do think with knife making Finland does have a great tradition of getting stuff right.

Thanks Chris, Joker don't quite have the same value for money as Hultasfors. But certainly a lot more value for money than the latest full tang Moraknivs, have you seen them? The Campero also looks like a fantastic knife. I haven't got one yet because I haven't managed to find one for a good price (I tend to look around for bargains, getting quite good at it).

Have several Joker knives, also have the Nomad with Micarta.....my favorite wood handle is Olive wood, also have a Candiense in Bocote....you have a nice collection there .
😂 What was I just saying about the Nomad in micarta? Mine is walnut, micarta would be a better option, but I got it for a very nice price second hand and unused. I buy a lot of knives and shop around for bargains. Really impressed with Joker knives. Nicely made, good materials and great prices.

@KuukkeliBushcraft walnut is a very nice looking wood....and if it was available at a good price, I would get it too.....but not a good option if you are going to use your knife in the field....not as durable as Olive or Bocote....I wish Joker would make some knives in Hickory....that would really be awesome....but again Micarta is the best option for a working blade.
I am looking to get a Kephart style Knife, and just found out we have a local knife maker Brisa making the 115, and on the same day came across the Joker Campero / Trampero , looks and dimension wise i like the joker better , in the same time i like supporting local businesses, however the price was a shocker. 149 for the Brisa and 75 for the Campero . basically i can buy 2 jokers for the price of the Brisa. unless i am looking at the wrong places .
When it comes to value Joker knives are very hard to beat. I also would like to support Finnish manufacturers as I am in Finland. But Joker make so similar products for such a good price and comparing the two Nessmuks, I definitely do prefer the Joker version by far.

Funny, I've just bought the Avispa as my first Joker knife, since you've mentioned the company positively before. The knife is amazing in feel and finish the sheath is too loose, just like yours. I have the flat ground version so I could put a convex edge on it for whittling since I find scandi grinds to aggressive sometimes.
Now you've got me interested in Brisa. ...it never ends with you, youre ruining me!😉

Both companies make very similar knives with sometimes a little loose sheaths. Easy to wet form them. I did make a video on wet forming but it was awful so never got uploaded 😂. It's pretty easy though.

I have the same Woodsknife, it’s fantastic! Just got myself a Beavercraft BSH3, I’m curious how it’ll turn out. They didn’t list what kind of steel used, just that it’s high carbon steel. I’m guessing it’s 1066 if it’s the same as the BPS knives.
I did a video about my Beavercraft BHS3, couldn't find any information on the steel so I asked if any of the viewers knew. I got a lot of different answers 😂. I guess that may remain a mystery forever. Seems to be a good enough steel though. Very pleased for the price.
The Woodsknife predators are really good. Definitely one of my favorites.

I have several jokers and i love my Nomad. I saved up and bought the 6.5" version. It's a beast! But its also quite pricey here in Canada. Cant go wrong right now with a joker knife, imo. (I agree that the puukkos arent the greatest.)
I also love a higher grind on my scandis. Wish more of them came thay way. 👍🏻🇨🇦
The big Nomad must be an absolute beast. I haven't seen it on sale here in Finland. It would be interesting to see how something like that compares to a leuku.
I did quite an interesting chopping test recently for my Spanish channel. I wonder how the Nomad would have performed. It was the Skrama vs a huge leuku. The Skrama did suprisingly well despite being far smaller.
@@KuukkeliBushcraft I haven't had a chance to chop with it as I have just recently got it. But I can tell you it feathers like the Nomad, slices like the Nomad (food prep AND my finger!) but obviously with far more blade. I am confident it will be a great chopper. 👍🏻

Yes I have seen a couple of them on your videos. Both Spain and Finland produce some really good knives.
sandvik is a great steel,i got the brisa/enzo necker in scandi i havent resharpened it once trough the years and its still like a razor,got a w9 cord knife also in sandvik was really hard to reshape its edge but after it was done it also just keeps its edge forever. im actually going to buy the new bucks paklite in 420hc that should be coming out soon they cryo treat it making it alot harder then other companies,i think people chasing the supersteel knives for prices of a used car is missing out on alot of nice knives that wont break the bank.Brisa also sells knife blanks and if you are a bush crafter it fun to find some wood or antler in nature and make some of your own scales and then stitch a leather sheath for it.I think brisa also sells some of the sheaths separate.
Brisa is an excellent place to buy all kinds of knife making supplies, they sell sheaths for all of their own models as well as many other sheaths. Some for as little as 5 euros.
I used to run little knife making classes for the guides at the farm after work (don't really have the energy for that anymore) used to buy everything from Brisa.
I totally agree on the Sandvic steel and certainly don't think a knife should cost as much as a car. I don't mind sharpening my knives every so often, so long as its not every time I cut something.

I think you should review the Brisa Bigmuk. A Leuku on steroids. Like this monster a lot. Great when you don't want to carry an axe with you.
I would love to review the Bigmuck. The problem is it is a bit too expensive for my liking and I am not convinced that it would actually be any more useful than my Skrama. I wasn't going to buy a Skrama (wasn't convinced it would work any better than my leukus 😂) until I found one super cheap. I rarely actually pay full price for my knives and 250 euros or so for the Bigmuck is a bit more than I am willing to pay at the moment.

I think you will find that Brisa are a lot more expensive than equivalent Joker knife here in the UK
I would expect that, they are more or less a similar price here in Finland. About the only thing I can think of that is cheaper in Finland than elsewhere (excluding of course Norway) is land and Finnish and Swedish knives.

Looked such good beer. The joker knives look so interesting. And those basic steel 80cr whatever, and such is my favorite. Maybe 3v or something like that is good, but basic steels are easy to sharpen i think, and what finnish makers commonly use is good enough for me just for me personal experience
Laurin Metalli make such good blades for such a good price. They are the reason that 80CRV2 is everywhere in Finland. Very tough steel and easy to sharpen.

I definitely think it is not worth paying for super steels. Some of the basic steels are easily good enough.
It is no hardship to sharpen your knife sometimes.

There's a trick to resolve the problem with screws : Thread lock. Or some strong glue.
Hard to beat the Spanish when it comes to knives : very good quality for the price. Cheers.
The thing is if you glue the screws in you lose a bit of the versatility. Changing the position of the belt loop, removing or changing it. This to my mind is the one major advantage of screws over rivets or something similar. I think the best solution is to regularly check the tightness of the screws. The problem is that involves being a bit more organised than I actually am 😂. Spain is producing some great knives nowadays. Finland too, can't beat a good puukko, I might be a bit biased though, the two contries where I have spent the last 20 years😂.

Thank you mate. I do try to read all of the comments. If I don't see them it is either I am horrendously busy or UA-cam is being silly and filtering out stuff for no good reason 😂.
The Nomad is doing great. I think the bigger version is probably a better bet. The knife is built like a tank and obviously intended for heavy work. It is therefore a little large and cumbersome. It does however slice vegetables really suprisingly well for something so thick. If your after a one tool option this would be a good bet. I however generally carry a small knife for smaller tasks and a large knife or axe for the heavy stuff. This is somwhere between the two. It is holding its edge really well. I haven't even sharpened it yet.
I will be doing a review once feel I have enough hours of work behind it.

I own a lot of knives.
The most of them I bought just because I like them.
But when it comes to usability in the field there are just very few that can handle most of the tasks.
For me I found out that a high scandy (saber) or a flat blade with convex blade with a length between 12 - 14cm and a thickness of max. 4mm ist the most versatile "design" for me.
And the handle should be solid and large with a lot of substance!
This is the reason why I like the Joker knives a lot because they use steels that are great in use and easy to sharpen in the field and they have excellent handles!
They are right at the sweet spot of usability, stability, practicability and price and they are well made!
If I would have started now with buying knives for my outdoor activities I would have bought three knives from Joker and would have saved thousands of €uros without having a single loss of practicability.
Its great to have a lot of knives but I don't use them - so what?

These knives are not good for cold weather. The steel of the handle is in contact with your skin. A Sami knife is better. I do not use gloves in winter.
