I beat Pokemon with the MOST UNDER RATED team

- I beat Pokemon, with the most hated pokemon. Pokemon hated for their design, or moveset, or availability.
Honorable mentions:
Ditto - Was almost on the team, but there's a lot of love for the little guy on the internet despite how useless he is battle-wise
Porygon - Was almost on here for the same reason as Jynx with a banned episode, but again a lot of love for this one on reddit.
If there's other Pokemon you hate, feel free to drop em in the comments, if this video gets 500 views I'll make a Gen 2 version!!
Here's the video I mentioned about the Jynx Episode
• Banned Racist Pokemon ...
Here's some chapters:
0:17 1st Pokemon
2:14 2nd Pokemon
3:09 3rd Pokemon
4:12 4th Pokemon
4:48 5th Pokemon
5:40 6th Pokemon
6:25 Elite Four Start
8:12 Champion Battle Start
I'm always open to suggestions about content, or about tips/tricks. I appreciate all of you, have a great day!
I don't think Farfetch'd was ever hated. If anything, it might have always been an endearing favorite that people were only ever disappointed with for being a weak Pokémon that lacked an evolution. Which was why there was a fair bit excitement for Sirfetch'd when it finally happened.
Yea I think people expected more out of it. Hated is probably strong but "Pokemon were not mad at, just disappointed" was too long of a title
@@shoopwoop3470: Fair enough, and I suppose something needed to be the team flier.
Conversely, a proper team of hated Pokémon should probably have included Mr.Mime, but being another Psychic type that would have overlapped with Jynx.
@@EmeralBookwisewhat's wild is that Ive always hated Mr. mime, but when I was looking online Jynx just had way more haters. I think because people think he's with ashs mom, he gets more meme clout.
Whose your top pick for most hated gen 2?
@@shoopwoop3470: Sunflora... entirely unremarkable grass Pokémon that does nothing to stand out from the crowd while having the audacity to require a rare sunstone, only obtainable through winning the bug catching competition, to evolve.
@@EmeralBookwise that's one of my picks too!! Yeah I just hate the design and the overall lack of stats
I don't understand the people who only use their favorites/good pokemon. It's always so refreshing to try out pokemon that you'd ever even think twice about.
For sure!
Because honestly, for me at least, it's sort of a thing where I know I want to build a certain team and I want to get them to become the strongest they can be to beat all odds and some of them is just because I love the look of them.
For example, started playing the Kanto Expansion Pack romhack and with FIVE options for starters I choose Squirtle simply because I know they're going to evolve into Totartle (Wartortle's true final form) and I think they look cool. Kotora (a cancelled electric tiger) was an early catch for me as well as Coinpurs (a baby version of Meowth) because I thought they were both cute and they were cats.
Just preference, nothing against the other Pokemon and I'm too dumb to really get into stats so I just go with what feels right.
there is also the problem of "Wow I really like this particular pokemon! Too bad they only exist somewhere around the 8th gym or something!"
@@edfreak9001 So that's probably my biggest thing with Tangela, and Lickitung. They're fine if you could get them earlier. With Dratini it's a bit of a grind but at least the payoff is there.
@@edfreak9001 this is why I love to play randomizers. Sometimes I'll go off the deep end and randomize everything for comedy, but most times, I'll just randomize the wild pokemon (and keep them to similar BSTs/changing impossible evos).
For the physical games, I always play them with a hub game with various subgames around them. For example, I have a copy of Silver and Gold. I'm trying to complete the Pokedex on Silver, but, while I could very easily accomplish that in a matter of days, that's less fun. Instead, I've been breeding the mons I want to use in Silver and trading the eggs over to Gold, hatching them there so that they aren't outsider Pokemon. I'm on my last iteration now, and then I just need to do some stuff in Red (mostly stone evos) and catch the beasts and I'll be done (other than Mew and Celebi, which I'll have to glitch into existence)
3:15 Voltorb's desing is actually genius. It's the reference to the original RPG games, where there were monsters that were looking like a chest. Player tries to open it, but all he sees is a bunch on teeth trying to bite him! In pokemon world, pokeballs hidden on the whole map are the equivalent of the chest. In the power plant when you open a pokeball, there's a chance you encounter voltorb. That's why voltorb's desing is amazing.
A ton of people have made this same connection and for the life of me before I made this video I didn't even think about that!! Brilliant
Also if you think about it in the history of Pokemon it makes sense that Voltorb design inspired the design of the Pokeball.
I just wish they did this more often. There haven't been any Voltorb encounters like this, in… ever
Like the mimics in dark souls?
@@Saili_Orig Exactly. Mimics have been in D&D for a long time too.
I like how his rival was named after his first subscriber, nice touch.
Beaksters, you just got a Pokemon named after you in an upcoming playthrough. Thanks for catching that!
This is one of the most wholesome things I think I've ever seen on UA-cam
We neeeed a gen 5 version of this masterpiece
A thousand percent, work on gen 2 is underway atm
People sleep on Jynx so much. It is hands down one of the best Pokémon to use in a Kanto playthrough!
It really really is. This was actually my first time using her
I feel like the hatred for her is overblown. Like, with how long it's been, you'd think people would move on since we've got pokemon that are either not good to use, not really good design wise, or both. Jynx at the very least is usable and it's dumb to hate on a humanoid pokemon when people PRAISE Gardevoir to kingdom come.
@@theshipper5797 Its typing is also unique; I can't think of any other Psychics who are also Ice-type.
In addition, the entire point of Jynx is that it's supposed to be *_scary._* It's modeled after a Japanese monster that dwells in caves and has no body; it's just eyes, lips, and hands. Jynx is a kind of rare, often unseen monster which comes from the depths. Its potential isn't appreciated.
Jynx is based on a classical yokai. Might as well blame ancient Japanese, who never even saw a black person, for being racist.
Totally agree, the hate she gets is unwarranted, she was really fun to use in this run too
Saying that Jynx's design is racist isn't calling the people who made it racist; things can be racist regardless of the creators' intent. Just because the design may not have deliberately drawn upon minstrel shows and blackface when designing Jynx doesn't mean that the imagery isn't there. I'm sure the designers were simply not aware of this, but they needed to update it moving forwards and thankfully they did
@@kadabraguy9846so looks like only black ppl are allowed to have big lips, dark skin
I don't think that's his point - that said. Hardly the point of the video, the fact that she was in the spotlight for that reason IS the point made.
@@kadabraguy9846 my comment got taken down damn even UA-cam couldn't handle my views
I love how short and quick you made this! Some of the other UA-camrs take way too long to go over a full run of a game so this is quite refreshing. Subbed
Awesome, yea I think I like some long ones, I'm just not good enough to fill the time so if ends up just being filled for me lol. Thanks!
Kind of like Jrose's minimalist Gen 1 run?
I havent seen it, but being in any way compared to JRose is a huge compliment!!
I think his minimalist tutorials are usually pretty beefy tho
Design aside, never understood how underutilized Jynx is in Gen 1 when it's available to both standard versions and can sweep like crazy. She's basically the Elite 4 killer and can counter so many gyms.
Yeaaa I think for a lot of people who play for the first time, they already have a full team of six and don't like the play style of switching out for better Pokemon to win
In general one of the best/most entertaining Pokemon videos ive seen so far. Awesome stuff man!
Hey! Thanks so much!
i found this channel right around the time i started my own heartgold playthrough using underutilized pokemon that i just liked and looked cool along the way (team was unplanned, just caught things on whims when i reached certain areas) - your sentiment about having fun playing pokemon for the first time in years really resonated with me, since that's exactly how i felt. seeing a team that was "objectively" worse than other options rise above the challenges through careful strategy really helped me enjoy the game again.
what's even crazier is that we both inserted smoochum as our starter in place of the water starter and ended up having it as our ace.
love to see runs like this, and i'm glad you had fun.
(btw, my final team ended up being jynx, quagsire, yanmega, weezing, hitmonchan, and a sunflora that i added just for kanto).
That's awesome, yea it was wild, I was looking for ideas for the channel, and I thought this would do okay, but it looks like a lot of folks resonate with the least used Pokemon, it'll be a while before the B&W video, but I've got some fun stuff ( I think) before then lol
I actually really like Jynx and she has nothing to do with blackface. That's just Americans projecting their own regretful past on another culture.
A thousand percent, the video in the description goes into that more iirc
Yep mr popo got the same treatment but he was actually created after a hindu god i believe
@@cameronpatterson5751 Absolutely. People arguing that Toriyama was racist are so cringe.
I think I remember reading that somewhere actually
Jynx used to be black of course she got roots
Lickitung is AWESOME. love it
It really is!
I think Voltorb and Electrode are very genius design for a Pokemon, I'm no expert but some animals disguised themselves as other animals like a butterfly wing mimicking a snake. Because in the world of pokemon where pokemon are catched by you guessed it a PokeBall, means that the scariest thing for a Pokemon would be a PokeBall. Imagine being able to 1 tap a mountain only to be caged in a tiny ball. That's scary
That's a dope concept, I didn't even consider that, because I figured they were modeled after what a real life Electrode looks like
Pokemon from gen 1 where most likely inspired by rpg monsters. So Grimer is based on a Slime. And Voltorb and Electrode are based on mimes. (Monsters disguised as Treasure chests)
I think Jynx's humanoidness is interesting. Cuz its not a humanoid _____. Like Cinderace is a humanoid rabbit. But jynx isnt an animal, but a yokai /spirit/ thing. AND ice psychic? Thats cool!
For sure, she's definitely the ace of the playthrough
Bro, I thought you were a youtuber with a least 1K subs. Your video was really good. New Sub!
Lol thanks
Voltorb doesn't look like a Pokeball. The Pokeball's look like Voltorb.
I ran Jynx once. Freaking glass cannon. You can one-shot most opponents, just pray that you do because you're gonna have a bad time if they get to hit you back.
Yeah, endure on an opponent can be scary, she has okay sp. def tho - it's just against Bruno I was afraid loll
i actually love all of these pokemon! its so sad how much theyre hated
Agreed. I think that's the best part about the game, is that they all have their uses
Jynx is a straight up Ice Queen
Looking forward to seeing the gen 2 version! This was a really good watch
Appreciate it!
The thing with Gardevoir and Jynx is that, one is pretty, useful and people have fond with it. One is not pretty, useful but no need to use, annoying and doesn't even look "humanoid". I don't hate them but u can see why
yea for sure - I think the other thing is just how late you get jynx compared to when you get ralts. Like if you put a smoochum on route 2-5 I bet a lot of folks would use Jynx
calling jynx blackface is rascist to japanese culture
Unironically I actually like Jynx, it is a beast of gen 1 Pokémon. And it’s not black face, it’s design is rooted in Japanese folklore, get over yourselves Americans
Jynx could probably solo the E4 in Kanto honestly. For sure, I think MatPat actually goes into that in some of his videos, but also yea - I'm just saying that's why she got changed is that they thought that's what was going on
This is the second video of yours I’ve come across.
I’m definitely subbing!
Love the content. I’m a huge Pokémon fan, keep it up!
Awesome!! Welcome to the Shoop-Community??? I don't have a better working title than that for now
I can't hate Jynx. Beat Silver year it came out with a very under leveled team, and it was easily the MVP for E4. Destroyed Bruno, Koga, and Lance while the rest of my team was just kinda there. Thing was an absolute glass cannon.
Yea she recks!
I clicked this video because i had nothing else to watch and boy im glad i did! I love the quick edit style, and commentary. I will love to watch this challenge for each game or gen. Cheers and good luck with youtube algorithm!
Hey thanks! I appreciate the support
Farfetched, seaking, Jynx, were together in my hall of fame for leaf green.
What?! That's awesome!
Lickitung has been a favorite of mine since gen 1. I like the weird ones.
I just wish it had a little more utility in this game. Like it's a cool concept, but the exp gain doesn't make up for stats or how late you get it
@shoopwoop3470 I mean you're not wrong there. In gen 1 (and the remakes) the fact that it can only be acquired (barring trades) so late in the game when its stats would have it falling off, and only if you trade the much more usable Slowbro (or Golduck in FR), really does it no favors.
Video quality is really good! Thought you had way more subs but you got another! Keep it up!
I try, haha, thanks!
Jynx is actually pretty OP in FR/LG, if you use the routing from RBY Challenges it’s possible to beat FR in less than minimum battles with a Jynx - Level 46 was my hall of fame on the solo run. Op.
Jirachi is currently leading my table at level 43.
Oh for sure, I don't even think it's a weak team overall, just don't think these 6 usually make it to the e4 in one team
I honestly love voltorb and electrode even if it’s extremely simple. I understand where people are coming from but my unyielding love for them will never end. If there are no voltorb lovers in the world then I am dead
After this play through, me too, it's soooooo fast too
Voltorb is a classic RPG mimic enemy, but his design also doubles as a magnet, because he is an electric type found near sources of high magnetism. For a simple design, it's very viable and thought out.
@@garethdwright91 so, I knew that voltorbs and electrodes are legitimate components for an electricians, and I got the mimic references as a kid used to dragon quest, but I never knew the magnet bit
I've been telling people for years how good jynx is.
Sooo true!!
I guess the reason why Jinx was so hated is because she couldn’t be as easily sexualized as other humanoid female-like Pokémon.
Thats kind of it I think! She was honestly a super cool mon to use tho
@@shoopwoop3470 Hypno is probably worse, since he is actively a child kidnapper lol.
@@MontyMoleLoreMaster For sure! I think if I might do a villanous run with him as a part. Like Pokemon that would have been arrested or something based off of dex entry or anime
@@shoopwoop3470 I am doing an iceberg based on the morality of bug type Pokémon, and I was wondering if you think either Scyther or Pinsir is more brutal or malicious (based on their Pokédex entries)? Did you know that the Venomoth line are confirmed to be vicious predators that eat small insects? I never knew until doing research for my iceberg lol.
@@MontyMoleLoreMasterI think Scyther is the more brutal - but malicious is so hard to decide. Both only mention prey, but imo Scyther being able to move so fast definitely gives him the edge (no pun intended) on being terrifying.
Jynx seems to be a bit of a hot topic, but all I have to say about it is anyone who hates her never had to play Stadium with only rentals lol
You're bringing back memories dude!!
Seaking was clutch during that final battle. 10/10. Maybe the MVP? Pulled off the kill and then half of Venasaur HP. That confusion right before the Solar Beam was Reggie level clutch. Highlight reel for sure.
Yea I think if we're talking last fight, Electrode getting the para off on Arcanine was actually run -saving
I just want to say, not trying to be a contrarian, but I like all of these mons a fair bit. And really, all of them are pretty unique even if they're not the strongest ever.
Jynx is a great special attacker, as it has demonstrated in this video, and one of the few Ice types you can get before the Seafoam Islands in Kanto. It's also a Psychic type which is useful against the hordes of Poison mons you have to fight in the game. I remember trading my Poliwhirl for it in one of my playthroughs and it was amazing. Probably my favorite of the bunch. Wish it got an evo like its brothers Magmar and Electabuzz.
Farfetch'd stands out because of its high crit chance. And again, I remember trading a common spearow for the elusive CH'DING who comes with a stick to boot. It even had a role in the Gen 2 games in Ilex forest so I'd think its the least forgettable of this bunch. And of course, it even got an awesome regional evolution in Sirfetch'd which was an instant favorite of mine and many others.
Electrode is just fast AF boi. If Electro Ball was like Body Press in that it scaled uncapped with the speed stat then it would be so cool to use. But even as it is now, I remember it for multiple things such as Voltorb being the #100 Pokemon, encountering Electrodes in the Team Magma/Aqua hideout while looking for the Master Ball, and the Johto games, etc. where they are unavoidable encounters and would definitely leave an impression if you're unlucky enough to have slow/fragile Pokemon who are taken out by their self destruction before you can comprehend what just happened.
Seaking is iconic for being the token fish Pokemon along with its pre-evolution. I remember being surprised when I used thunderbolt on it, a water type Pokemon, just for it to do nothing because of Lightning Rod. It might not have the best stats, but it has an amazing physical moveset by the later games. It learns the HM Waterfall naturally, Horn Attack is a great neutral mid-game move, Megahorn is one of the strongest early bug type moves, Drill run is a great coverage move especially to retaliate against Electric types and Horn Drill is just fun to use. I wish Golduck had a moveset half as good and it was actually a Psychic type when its pre-evolution is literally localized as PSYduck and because of how it was portrayed in the Anime.
Tangela, I'd say, is the least special of this group but ironically has one of the best special attack stat and is a pretty unique defensive wall especially with its evolution in Tangrowth. It's memorable for being an encounter in that new patch of grass just behind Kanto that you can access after you get surf and I remember it for being one of the mons that you need to get Ancient Power on to evolve, which is a move that isn't half bad. It's one of the mons I've never used but I could totally see using it if you got it early.
Lickitung is weird but its even more weirdly good in the Pokemon GO GBL cup so it leaves an impression and I always catch it whenever I'd play that game. It's memorable for being another trade exclusive mon in the Gen 1 games that you could get once you find out that Golduck isn't a Psychic type and decide to trade it away for dex completion purposes and replace it with something like Lapras for instance.
*ahem* First of all, thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed comment:
TLDNR: All super valid comments, I appreciate the personal aspect you presented - and I have a few similar feelings to a couple of these mons from the OG red version. I think I gained extra perspective on some of them with the playthrough that I'm gonna go into detail to in this comment:
The Full Thing:
Now let's see - I do really hope she gets an evolution in Z-A, there's already so many fan designs it's hard to (no pun intended) catch em all.
I've never used SirFetchd but I agree, I think his is more definitely who he's competing against, but the crits were sooo nice in game. And the fact that he learns swords dance on level up made him such a viable option.
Until this playthrough I had no idea electrode was so fassst.
I think because it never got represented in the anime, Seaking gets forgotten. Goldeen on the other hand? But I want to think if it's referenced, it's in the opening trailer for indigo league - I think Seaking suffers a bit from competition here too. I think Gyrados is so often picked because he's got the early encounter rate with old rod, by the time choosing a water pokemon comes around - it also was kind of hard to level, but I really enjoyed Seaking's move pool, and how kinda beefy it was.
Tangela's special attack was phenomenal - if it was on the same route as oddish as a 1-5% encounter I think that immediately makes it a more pickable option. It's level just takes forever after you've gotten surf to have it catch up with the rest of the team.
I might have to do something Lickitung theme cause I don't think I really gave it justice in this video - there just wasn't a good spot to really use him. Maybe if I do a gen IV with lickylicky or something?
@@shoopwoop3470 You’re welcome! Agreed on the points you’ve mentioned. I enjoyed the video and would definitely love to see you do one on Gen IV and having Lickilicky on the team sounds like it would be a good idea. I’ve never used it personally and it’s probably one of the most underused Pokemon given how so many other mons from Sinnoh are such fan favorites. I guess its main niche would be STAB Body Slam for para hax and neutral damage. Looking forward to it!
For sure! I'm working on Gen 2 right now, but I don't know if I'll use futrure evos of past gens. I like this format for now, and Gen IV will come with some mons that don't often get used (Tangrowth, Lickylicky) but I think I want to keep it generation specific for now
That champion fight was interesting. Hydro pump with sun up still decimated CHDING, but luckily didn’t stick around for the Arcanine flamethrower. Also Marc’s EQ was absolutely pathetic and I’m so here for it. I love these underutilized runs keep em coming!
Lolll thanks - just battled through the hardest Roark fight of my life. Took me like three-ish hours, glad you liked the stuff
@@shoopwoop3470 I hope you aren’t stuck with a normal type starter that Cranidos is no joke lol I feel like an HGSS run would be the hardest of all considering how garbage a majority of Johto Pokémon are.
I did a run like this when I was younger... Though not as well. I most likely got the wrong moves and stuff for the pokemon and it was a nightmare. But I do remember most of the team being this. Maybe the farfetch was a Bulbasuar but thats about the only change.
You should give it another go now that you're older/wiser!!
I came here to watch my boy electrode and got nothing but bashings and Kamakazi. Man
Oh mannn, sorry about that, he came in clutch in so many spots because of that though. He was my rage tool. Like whenever an opponent was just ticking me off, I'd be like ' you know what?' nahh
I actually sorta like Jinx, feel she needs a new evo... and she isnt racist she is actually based on Gungero, but I guess thats more common knowledge now than it was back in the 90s and 00s
designe wise Farfetch'd is my second fave of the original non-legendary birds, the first being the Pidgey line, g2 love that long pink and yellow "hair" :p
Yeah, she's definitely a heavy hitter - so I think she gets more hate than is deserved. Farfetchd came in clutch on this one for sure
Also agree she def needs a mega or something
I used far fetched in my last run becuase I needed a flying type and getting the benefit of leveling up faster due to having to trade is really a nice bonus. Loved the video, never seen anyone give Tangela get some deserved love 😂
Tangela is so under appreciated, but it's honestly ( I think) mostly because of where it's located. By the time you get there, you've either got Venusaur, Vileplume, Victreebell, or an Exeggutor, all of which just surpass tangela (imo) in design
@@shoopwoop3470 yes definitely! Plus not having an evolution isn’t as fun.
Well done! It's good to get out of the bubble every now and then. 👏

Ch’ding is amazing, I use that duck everytime and then send it to emerald and with swords dance, slash, and aerial ace he almost sweeps the entire final four
It's crazy - Ch'ding is definitely one of the mons worth utilizing on almost any playthrough, especially if you're playing statics or some kinda nuzlocke and you got a spearow
i was genuinely shocked at how few likes/subs were on this channel this a far higher quality video than what i would expect by those numbers. also no one hates farfetch’d it just sucks, maybe a more fitting title would be the most forgotten pokemon rather than the most hated
I think I agree, or maybe, Pokemon you're not mad at just disappointed
I think Farfetch’d was more lamented for being bad than anything else, it’s a simple but good design and finally got some love in recent years
Yea I'm really glad it got sirfetchd, but even in this playthrough it was awesome to have such a high crit chance, never really understood the importance of that mechanic as a kid
watching champion's alakazam set up reflect at full health just to get instantly crit and ignored made me chuckle.
Lol, right?
Really cool video, love the concept and THANK YOU it is not another 55 minutes of gameplay that everybody has already seen 100 times
keep going you have a bright future ahead!
Loll ofc, I just don't think I'm smart enough/funny enough to do 55 minutes - otherwise... Just didn't wanna fluff it up
I was a bit surprised that unown wasn't on the list. Though it might be on the gen 2 video if that happens. Also, now that I think about it, jynx has a really good offensive typing.
Yeah, I can't spoil anything but I'll probably be dropping the gen 2 in a week and some change. - But yeah Jynx as an early game starter was moneeyyy
I don't know who hates Jynx. I'd go crazy on her and Gardevoir. Gotta respect the thick queens

Agree, however the only actually weak one was Lickitung the rest were pretty decent!

Well... no. I mean, kinda tanky, and water pulse for confusion was actually an okay strat, plus horn attack doesn't have terrible damage. Wouldn't wanna do a solo run, but as far as a water pokemon I think Golduck is actually worse.
Looking forward to this in gen 2, where my favorites get some love, and gen 5 where you can use almost anything but Excadrill and Bisharp

Yes he's a beast in the playthrough too!
TBH I feel like Charmander should've been your rival's starter, because Jynx's ice type makes it weak to it.
Okay honestly - great point, I didn't even think about that when I glitched the starters.
Yeah I learned a long time ago that that Pokémon becomes a much more fun game when you use the Pokémon that are available to instead of just looking for your favorites. I did a gym leader run as a I called it which is basically I play through platinum with a specific type of Pokémon instead of a variety of different types. I choose dark type because it’s my favorite type and I ended up using a lot of Pokémon I’ve never used before and I have to say it was one of my favorite playthroughs I’ve ever done.
You should definitely check out this gym of mine, it's a free to play Pokemon game that mimics that exact play style except you actually have a gym to manage
To be fair pokemon mystery dungeon players love Smoochum because she has powder snow at a lower level and levels up fast
I know I've been sleeping on them, but I've never played a single mystery dungeon game.

who's disrespecting my boy Lickitung???
Right I always kept at least one lickitung
Loll his stats are kindanl garbage, plus he was annoying in the anime, but I like his design and he's versatile. I mean, like what you like - I'm not here to hate lol
I have a Lv 100 electrode once
That Pokémon was amazing!!
I remember in red version I thought there was something special if you could get all the pokemon to lvl 100 I remember stopping a few mons after Electrode
I wish you would edit the BST distribution into the video when discussing a pokemon's stats.. it just makes sense to visualise what youre describing as "decent special attack" or "very fast".
Oh man, didn't even think about that, that's a great point!
Nice video man, wow only 200 subs?!?! Great quality I have subbed !!
Haha thanks! Definitely a grind
I definitely agree with Seaking, Lickitung, Tangela, Electrode being the least interesting of the original pokemon for a playthrough & even though I like Farfetch'd I can see it on the list but I'd personally swap out Jynx for maybe Raticate, Wigglytuff or Beedrill.
Yea I tend not to choose the early route mons, just because I remember being a kid, I kept Beedrill and Raticate for probably too long. I mean, I think my first ever playthrough of red, I kept Raticate all the way through the E4
seaking is great. high hp and physical attack bc his signature move is horn drill
You're right, I didn't end up needing him too much, but for Bruno he came out swinging, and Blaine was a breeze

Really? Design or anime or what?
@@shoopwoop3470 everything about Lickitung is my favourite. I even bought a bunch of Lickitung pokemon cards. I love Lickitung.
Farfetchd is a pretty underrated pick in FRLG. It’s one of just three Pokémon to learn Swords Dance before the postgame, and it might actually be the best because it gets actual STAB (the others are Scyther and Pinsir). It’a probably a better pick than Pidgeot who levels slowly and gets no moves, and it doesn’t perform much worse than Fearow either.
Yeah, Pidgeot is just so popular, and Fearow is a monster. That combined with the fact that if you didn't already catch a Spearow it could be a pain. But I agree, I love Farfetchd

it's pretty cool to try out new pokemon that you normally wouldn't. Lately I've been trying to do a Johto pokemon only run of pokemon silver, should be fun :)
That sounds fun, I remember there not being a ton of Johto Pokemon available to help through certain areas
People hate Tangela and Farfetch'd? Honestly, I'm more surprised you didn't take the in-game Mr. Mime trade, with how infamous that thing is. Poor Golbat can't even evolve before the post-game in FRLG, so they'd also work.
Yeah, when doing the research for this Mr. mime had a lot of anime clout for being with Ashs mom, but also it was him or Jynx and they both kind of aren't great but one didn't get their episode banned.
I don't think people hate tangela or Farfethd they're definitely under utilized though. Maybe instead of hate, disappointed in is more appropriate
I think the Jynx thing is only in America. And yes its also mostly because of the anime thing. The rest of the world doesn't care. Although the world at least agrees with Gardevoir.
Yea, I can see it really only being an issue in America, I think why it's so prolific is that America is such a huge market for those games - but yea idk who doesn't agree about Gardevoir
Pokemon Reborn negates all the personal favorites you'd want on a team. It's a fanmade game so you probably may know that
I might just have to check that out!
@shoopwoop3470 check it out bruh. I'm currently past 200 hrs playing this game and I've only got 15 badges out of 18. It's the first fanmade game that forces me to change teams for different strategies and most of those battles aren't against gym leaders.
@shoopwoop3470 if you do play it, use common candies vigorously and agate circus clown is a great training method and money grinder.
It's also bonkers difficult xD
I started playing it, it's honestly soo much fun, thanks for the recommendation!
Funny story my first shiny Pokemon was a Smoochum in Crystal so my final team actually had a Jynx named "BLOUNDIE" on it.
Shiny Jynx is awesome!!!
@@shoopwoop3470Although it doesn't look that different, it's pretty the only reason I don't really hate Jynx.
I like voltorb now cause I've come to realize he's just the pokemon version of a mimic
Loll, yea that's true!
I think Tangela is a far more appealing design than Victreebel personally, though I may be influenced by Brian David Gilbert saying that it's his favourite Pokémon lol
I don't actually hate Tangela's design here, always wanted to try on his shoes as a kid. I do think that Tangrowth got kind of boned out of a cool evolution in gen 4 tho
Well im subbed! Hoping to see you do a run aa rocket grunt one day
I do legitimately love the fire red rocket edition games. I'd have to do some pretty unique spin on it though, cause that one's been covered a ton
@@shoopwoop3470heya, no no i meant limiting yourself to a rocket grunt line up in red or the remake of it. With no evo they didnt use. Ie in gold some use a venonat but never a venomoth. They use golbat but nor crobat
Ohh okay - I've actually got a video idea that takes that a little further, but it's a bigger project for sure
@@shoopwoop3470 look forward to it :D
Bro really thinks Jinx isn't a popular pokemon.
Really well made video though. Production quality had me surprised when I saw how small the channel is right now
Jynx is popular for sure! But not in the greatest ways a lot of time. She's gotten a lot of hate over the years
@@shoopwoop3470she was not even doing black face. It’s a Japanese style she is using. Only America would see it like that because the country is messed up.
Yeah, that wasn't the point I was going for, I was more so saying that she's hated because of it, whether it was guilty or not doesn't matter entirely since that's why the American developers changed the design.
But Jynx is great! If we have to complain about a human-like poke, it must be Machoke for sure! Jynx looks more like a spirit of some sort. But I kinda agree with the others, at least for Gen 1 for sure.
And Agatha... I don't know why she's considered the ghost type specialist when all she does is throw poison at us 😂
Yeah Jynx was more because folks don't like her and the controversy, not necessarily anything else. She's an awesome pick for a team, certainly not bad.
Yeah I think Gen 1's biggest L is that there is only one ghost type evolutionary line, and it also happens to be poison as well so Psychic is still special effective. I've always considered Agatha a Poison type trainer, and Lance a flying type trainer
@@shoopwoop3470 The strongest Elite Four... and can't even have all the pokemons fully evolved on top of not even having 6
For Gen 1, I've gone back and started playing with Venusaur , Alakazam, Dotrio, Machamp family, Meowth, Sandslash, and Nidoking.
In gen 3, I really appreciated the Magnemite line.
In gen 4, due to having better moves, I've gone back and tried Gengar and Scizor. Since I have emulators, I play with ones that you wouldn't be able to get until later in the game, or they're from a different generation.
Heck yeah, those sound like some fun playthroughs!
Do gen 1 with Beedrill, Arbok, Onyx, Parasect, Seaking and Golbat. Glhf.
I just don't know that everyone hates any of those. Except maybe Golbat. I also thought parasect was aight?
Change Raticate for Arbok, since the rat has good moves. Parasect is horrible, it has the worst base stats of any grass pokemon, which is already one of the worst types. And all the others are amongst the bottom 10 for lowest stats in game.
@@Cba409 ngl that sounds rough!
Can u pls tell me the music at 10:00 it sounds like something from mirrors edge
Athena by JVNA it's actually on youtubes audio library, free to download etc
Jynx is one of my favorite Pokémon. I never thought it was black face and I’m a black person
Yeah, I think the Pokemon company america back in the day was just trying to save face, but also they probably got it misconstrued somewhere along the line, and the change they did to the new purpler almost seems like a choice out of guilt toward American audiences
Yea I think Pokemon company america thought it was back in the day thus the switch in design (couldve sworn I replied but UA-cam is telling me otherwise)
I have never met anyone who hates Jynx aka Frostatute
I don't think you'll find anyone in this comment section that does either - she's mainly a stigma I guess, but there were a quite a few unkind reddit posts on her
This is my first time watching I love the content but I wasn’t a fan of the music bro bro and it felt like an lecture I wanna see some personality from you keep doing what you doing I love see this 🐐🧡🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the support! Yea I'm still testing stuff out, and seeing what's working and what's not
The Lickilicky line are the best normal types of aaall. Time!
LickyLicky is fine, but in this gen Lickitungs stats combined with being kind of a pain to get made it make the list
@shoopwoop3470 Honorable Mention is Blissey, my secondhand man. 💪🏽🥚
Blissey is goated
@@shoopwoop3470 Shoopdawoop has spoken! 🗣📣
I actually really like Lickitung. I think he's a cutie and he's not so bad that Marc is unusable in FRLG. I usually get him.
His evolution on the otherhand is probably my most hated Pokemon. Its hideous and I'm especially mad ever since I saw his beta GS incarnation who was a cool snake charmer instead of the gross fat kid we got.
I've never seen the beta GS version, but yea lickylicky just was... weird
Bro what, Farfetch'd is like one of the coolest gen 1 pokemon
Tempted to agree with you, I think a lot of folks were just disappointed in it's stats. It's also comparatively not picked as often
The problem with Jynx is in Britain, Labour just got voted in and there was a doll called a Golliwog. People were using that doll as a stealth way to bring racist to Black people so they passed a legislation effectively banning that and similar items.
It all became very tedious, people were arguing for Golliwogs not to being banned a bit too much then Jynx and Mr Popo appeared in Britain. I feel like just to shut people up about Golliwogs, they said that they were racist too. Mr Popo more so to the Asian community who became the main target for racism in the late 90s.
Yeah so under that new law, they said they were racist because of the silly arguments over a doll but didn't ban it from British TV because the authorities knew they weren't actually racist. When you're in a low IQ Country like England, you need to say certain things to avoid whataboutery
Yea that and Gamefreak got a lot of complaints so then they re-released the game and episodes w/ Purple Jynx
I always liked using jynx on my runs Psychic Ice with a high special attack is OP in the end
Oh yea, and her SA is pretty goated
Yes, I'm going to play fire red, my starter? Charmander.
And the rest of the team can be... Lapras or Gyarados, Snorlax, maybe Arcanine, Jolteon, Gengar, Alakazam and Rhyhorn, maybe a Dragonite if I'm wanting variety
Sounds like a fun playthrough, best of luck!!
I used an all eevee evolution team which has always been my go to regardless of what anyone says. I'm aware they're not the best but I don't care! they did their best! xD
That's what counts!!

Awesome Video
Hey Thanks!
Jynx should've gotten an evo with magmar and electabuzz.
A thousand percent agree!
We need a ghost type Jynx 💯💯💯
A thousand percent, that would be an awesome direction for a mega
I thought you would use dewgong because, Idk anything about pokemon anymore, but I doubt people would use it as a late game pokemon that doesn’t seem like much, and people love to hate on seel for well, not being much more than a seal with a horn
I think I didn't choose him because of the love that it gets in the anime, by being in the cerulean gym
I deadass know someone that has Lickitung as there fav pokemon
It's not bad, for me, it just occurs way too late in the game
