- I beat Pokemon Heart Gold with some of the most, hated, reviled, and underutilized Pokemon. Feel free to disagree with the team, and drop a comment saying how much you loved these guys!
Honorable Mentions:
Girafarig - There just wasn't enough hate around it to mention
Stantler - It was almost on the team, but it got a pass because of Smeargle having way worse stats
Dunsparce - It gets a lot of love actually, and got a not so terrible mega evolution recently
Delibird- I almost used this exclusively for fly, but in respect to Shady, I kept him off the team.

Def got a few games like that. I describe it as a nostalgia itch. Unfortunately some experiences just aren't the same. Like any old MMO, went back to play MapleStory and it just felt wrong without all the boys from back in the day

yea it's always frustrating when they use the items. These aren't really Nuzlocke runs on my end, but I generally just don't use items
Sunflora, Sudowoodo, Miltank, Unown, Smeargle and Wobbuffet.
Why do I feel like a troll character on the pokémon franchise would have this team? (Specially because Miltank and Wobbuffet are there-)
Yea wobuffet has ended a few runs I wasn't happy with. Shadow tag and destiny bond are awful
Smeargle is great if properly utilized. Transform, a priority move, a healing move, etc
Oh damn I watched the whole video and got very confused at the view count. This definitely feels like it should have WAY more views, its on par in quality with the big guns in the Pokémon community.

I like your approach of not taking Pokemon overly seriously. While I enjoy watching other people take hours grinding through hardcore nuzlockes with complex strategies, it's also nice seeing you play through these games in what feels like a more laid back and natural approach without a VGC-level team. Your content is really just kinda refreshing. Keep up the good work!

I dont know what type your miltank was, but one of the possible abilities is scrappy which allows you to hit ghost types with normal attacks. I used a miltank on morty and it went so easy because he couldn't do anything.

It's amazing the power of what video games can do to bring people together. My best friend of 15 years (and best man in my wedding back in October) first bonded over Diamond and Pearl and still play Pokémon together to this day. Now I'll be best man in his wedding next September, and I'm happy to know that some of our family members that are no longer with us would be proud of us and happy we're still friends to this day.
yeah that's wild isn't it? I remember Platinum, diamond and pearl being out when I was in high school, and like Pokemon wasn't popular - not for a high schooler anyway, but me and my friends would play it constantly after school. It's one of the things you look back on, and are like - wow, I never realized how much that game brought us together.

That Snorlax fight is edited too. The real fight took FOREVER. Red is a little potion spammer, but that's what I get when two tanks fight
And as a perk appearance... If you think back to gold/silver/Crystal era... Lance and falkner represents the original red and blue, due to their hair colours.

I really love this series, you use a lot of pokemon that I loved as a child, back when choosing a pokemon team was about how silly or cute they looked and not their stats or evolutions. Pokemon soulsilver was my very first game as a child. I chose chikorita, and since then chikorita and its evo's have held a near and dear place in my heart. It gets so overshadowed by cyndaquil and totodile which makes me sad :( it's so silly and cute I love my little grass dinosaurs
also this video made me cry. My biggest fear is something happening to my mom or her not coming home one day. I can't even begin to imagine that grief. Pokemon has helped me through dark times too ❤🩹
I loved chikorita from the anime a lot, so it was weird when it wasn't well received among my friends and stuff, but yea this game or more specifically the original gold/silver version will always hold a special place for me.

I always loved Sunflora. It was so hard to get the sunstone as a kid. I always use Sunfloras on my team now. She’s especially fun in the Alohla games. I feel like GF really missed a chance to make a evolution in Scarlett and Violet
Yea, I think a mega would be cool, or even a leafstone variant for sunkern - but it's really not a bad mon at all, just hard to get!
These vids are great, and I love the concept of intentionally using 'mons you would never want to use. One of my favourites which I feel isn't used in actual gameplay very often is Hypno. I just wish it had a more accurate way of landing sleep, because Dream Eater was specifically created for Hypno and yet he only has about a 60-something % chance of actually getting to use it, ugh.
Between the OG Red fight and the remake, I honestly prefer him having the Espeon as opposed to a Lapras.
But his team is designed so that it's exclusively made of pokémon you are guaranteed to encounter in Yellow Version. All of the starters+Eevee are gifted to him directly, Snorlax blocks the game, and Lapras always appears as an overworld sprite in its cave.
I've tried to experiment with creating a maximized, perfected version of Red's team. It would involve evolving Pikachu, unfortunately; Raichu is simply too much of an improvement to pass up. And again, Espeon instead of Lapras. The type variety is important.
I feel like Venusaur and Charizard should be using a Sunny Day+Solar Beam strategy, or potentially Blastoise and Raichu using a Rain Dance+Thunder. I don't think both should be used at once, because too many turns will be invested into changing the weather.
Charizard can be given Dragon Pulse with the dragon's tooth item, so he's effectively getting the STAB bonus; same with Blastoise and the Nevermelt ice with Ice Beam.
This setup is still being experimented with, so it's not finished, heh.
Yea lemme know how that goes - I saw a post not too long ago saying how Ethan's team cannonically is set to oppose Red's and I'm curious if both are fighting at their hardest who wins. When I just look at the match up - as long as charizard can be out at the same time as Ethan's scizor the fight is going to go to Red.

Miltank is literally one of the strongest Pokémon from the second generation, soon as I saw you were using that it didn't even seem like a challenge
Nah, not really a challenge so much as just a fun playthrough - Miltank is great, honestly the whole team doesn't suck stats wise, just hated in general. Wobuffett could probably carry on his own given the right moveset and enough cheese

5:42, despite popular belief, ice types only have neutral damage to rock types. If the ice type does not have water type moves, it’s in serious trouble.

Yea I never figured out how to do it on the DS, cause it always gave me warnings and I was afraid. I used to have a section in the video where I showed me messing with my computer times but I had to take it out bc I forgot that I had my personal email in the settings panel
@@shoopwoop3470 Yeah, I just ignored them. Same thing with Pokémon Rumble World on 3DS. The king would reprimand you for messing with the system time to skip cooldowns but it was so worth it to get back to certain locals.

Smeargle is far from the worst. And if you evolve the Pokemon they are no longer the worst
I don't know about far from the worst with base attack and sp. attack of 20 - in addition to his gimmick if you want a good moveset - and how late of a pickup he is in the game. And. The only two Pokemon who evolve are still not great in evolved state, with Sunflora having a base speed of 30 - admittedly sudowoodo is probably the best, but compared to the other rock Pokemon in the game, the worst.

So sound design is something I'm trying to get better at, it wasn't until I listened on laptop headphones that I realized how loud it was. Im not satisfied at all with where the sound design is on these yet - so future videos will def get better in that regard

Depends on the influencer, I've always pronounced smeargle like that, but a few comments have told me it's not like that.
But I'm just lazy and never look up the pronunciations
Shady penguin is one who does it on purpose by pronouncing potion as Poe Tie On, so it depends on the individual I think

I’m not even a minute in but the music is so distracting, if it was a bit more quiet so your voice was much louder it wouldn’t be that bad
you're not wrong at all. This is one of the worst in sound design - I would note that despite views I am newer (less than a year), and I didn't realize the sound was all messed up before I published. It wasn't until I was listening to it on my laptop a few days later with headphones that I realized how loud the BG music was, and how loud the SFX were. By that time though, I had already moved the files from Premiere, so it was too late to go back and edit it.
I'm def working on sound design as one of the things I get better at in each video, if you do end up watching more of the videos let me know if it's still an issue please
@@shoopwoop3470 I have watched a few other videos and off the top of my head I don’t remember any others having distracting background music, I did notice that there was some major battles where it was just sped up with music over it and personally I find that a bit boring have you considered just doing a quick summary of the winning battle (assuming you don’t win first try) some other challenge run UA-camrs I’ve seen do something like that, of course these are your videos and I’m just one viewer, so far I still enjoyed the videos I’ve watched just thought I’d throw it out there though
yea I typically do the last battle as a relatively unedited battle - but I think I could probably narrate over it. It's just that when I'm editing, narration feels boring. Like, how many times am I gonna have to say, and then I dragon danced, and swept, or for like this video specifically. - and then red used Full restore again, and then Miltank used milk drink. Though I do see the point. I need to figure out the line between too much and not enough... actually while writing out this comment I thought about it: I'm gonna do some research on other PokeTubers and see what style resonates me and if there's anything I can incorporate, thanks for the honest feedback!!

No no, not bad like "sucks" bad like "hated" and HATED because of what she did to the generation of kids who grew up playing OG Gold/Silver, because Whitney with her Miltank was a menace

Bit of criticism for you. You have too much going on here. Music is overshadowing your voice, and then the sound effects completely remove your voice. Example, when you talk about the move sets.
But the music is way too loud and distracting, then the random sound effects just..are so much more worse lol.
@@TobiasKryze yea, I completely agree- I'm still learning the sound design aspect, but I actually hate the way this one's sound design turned out - when I tested it I didn't realize how bad it was because my headphones were dampening some of it. When I tested it after I published on my phone it was unbearable.

@shoopwoop3470 haha no worries. I was the same starting out. Sometimes what sounds good to you with ine headset can sound 100x different on another. But good to take the advice and stuff than attack those that give it lol.

You know I feel this - I was debating about it pretty heavily whether to do to the old or the new, and I decided since i had played Fire Red instead of red, that I would consistently play the remakes throughout the series, but I think something is lost by not doing it on the OG
