This is incredibly! I’ve watch so many videos on how to do this. The wait time of 20 minutes has given me more success. I can not even begin to tell you how many failed attempts I’ve had. Hundreds of dollars in resin. I have made huge messes and hours of cleaning things up after an attempt. I’m so impressed how carful and meticulous and seemly effortless you do this. I think maybe I saw one drop on you paper. You have really mastered the art. Your work is beautiful. I aspire to you that one day I’ll get the hang of this and have success. Thank you Nancy,
Ohh Nancy, thank you for your kind words but I feel your pain. It took me a good 6 months of trial and error to get any kind of lacing, and I'm still figuring out what works and what doesn't. If I wait till my resin is nice and thick like cold honey, I get the best results. Thicker seems to hold the cells without them blurring (as long as you don't heat it too much with the heat gun or a torch). Best of luck finding your sweet spot! I know you'll get there 😉
I so hear you!! I’ve ruined so many pieces by the last steps of the waves!! Cannot tell you how frustrated I was! She makes it look so perfect and with such ease…I could only hope! I think my problem is the resin I use. But then waiting for it to thicken up, then sometimes it just won’t blow out…I feel your pain!!!
I have seen many others use different blues in order to achieve that transition from shallow to deep, but simply blending the one colour with the clear looks much more natural, the lacing looks great too, well done.
Look at the picture after the job is done. How can this realism be achieved with a 1 cm thick chemical layer and a few colors of pigment? miraculous effect. gorgeous and unique. and also being able to do this every time. I can't understand, it's just a magnificent dimension of reality. It's not like it was made by hand. the moment of water flow is stopped and frozen. in one word AMAZING
@@Procrastipainter haha 😂 - you’d make a hell of a surgeon with hands as steady as yours! I don’t know about anyone else, but as soon as it comes to laying down the white my hands are like jelly and messy - but hey, no waves are perfectly uniformed (my excuse and I’m sticking to it 😂) your work is outstanding, I love it. I’m just getting stock back together to have another go at this resin stuff after being very unwell for a long time and it’s great to refresh the memory. It seems like every man/woman and their dogs at it now though 😆
Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching 🥰💙 My hands are only steady when I don't think about it - I can imagine shaking like a chihuahua if I had a scalpel in my hand 🤣 And the wobbly white line makes it more realistic 😉 I'm sure it will come back soon enough. It's like falling off a bike...
Beautiful work.. I have been trying beach scenes for about 6 months now and about six different alcohol inks, I just can’t seem to get the same cells you get.. You make it look so easy!
Thank you 🥰 I know how frustrating that is! I'm using titanium white pigment paste from Just Resin. It's likely to be more pigmented and possibly heavier than the alcohol ink, which helps with the cells. FYI I've done a few comparison videos of different whites on the market if you're interested? There might be one you already have or can get easily?
Love it.... Absolutely beautiful....love your space here on UA-cam and often peruse your videos.... Ordered some Titanium White and Dark Turquoise the other day. Can't wait to get it here in Colorado!
Thanks for watching and for your kind words 😁 ohh that's always exciting to get to colours! Pro tip: you will need only the tiniest amount of the dark turquoise. It's super pigmented and a little goes a long way so that one jar will last you a long time
@@Procrastipainter thank you for the advice as I sure as heck would have made the first batch too dark! Question, i tried using some turquoise from another vendor a couple months ago and my wood was a pine, so a bit light yellowish. The turquoise against the light yellow looked very green. Do you have to take into account your backgrounds when judging which colors to use? I noticed you used acacia wood I think....
For sure yes you do! Much more so for the transparent colours. You could always give the pine either a full white paint cover or white wash (So you can still see the wood grain). Just make sure it's water based, not oil.
This turned out really pretty. I have a couple of questions. I have a heat tool like yours and I'm so afraid to burn the resin. Is there a trick to not burn it? Also, do you know if there is food safe resin for cutting boards?
Thank you so much 😁 best of luck with the new torch, just me careful not to scorch your resin. Keep the flame off the resin of you can and keep it moving 👍
As many others have said I am in awe of your beautiful waves, the absolute best I've ever seen! Can you please tell me which brand of white pigment paste you are using as after almost 3 years of trying to master the art of ocean waves I am now going to purchase the exact same products you use to see if that helps me. I am so inspired by you that I wish I could get mixing right now.....Thank you 😊
I'm incredibly impressed. I want to try doing this. I'm in love with this effect. It's the hand of a master. I see the video is old, but maybe someone can tell me exactly which colors were used here. It means a lot to me because I want to try my hand at it. Please let me know what colors these are.
Beautiful 🌊💙 Absolutely love the fact that you use a spoon ! I use the same method! For preciseness and control and the fact that you don’t let any resin drip to waste! 👏🏻
It's a no-brand 2000W with high and low flow, 50-600C variable temperature. Without knowing that your specific issue is, I can't really help much, sorry
Why did you sand it first, and what did you put on it after you sanded it? Love how it turned out, this is on my to do list next!! Thank you for the video!
That's how long I wait before adding the white - until it's much thicker - that way the cells stay more defined instead of going cloudy. It does self level once it's heated.
Thanks for your kind words and for watching 🥰💙 the attachment is a concentrator that came with the no-brand heat gun. Details are in the description box
Thank you for your kind words 🥰💙 I'm not sure what you could use in place if a heat gun, if at all. I've seen some people push the white with a hair dryer but I wouldn't think it would hold the cells. Best of luck finding an alternative
In this case, I used Cabothane clear water based varnish (from Australia). Whatever you use, make sure it's not an oil base or it will repel the resin. Best of luck 😁
It is beautiful & I love the layering bc it looks more realistic, but why don’t more artists use sand for the beach or tan or gold glitter? Still seeing that wood under there kind of defeats the entire beach scene for me. Thanks for the lovely video sharing your techniques & the nice smooth music in the background. It’s beautiful, but I hope you do one in the future with some sand for the beach area. You are very talented & I love the frothy waves you created.
Thanks for your kind words Sherri 💙 I don't like putting sand on the food-functional items purely because it wouldn't clean properly. But the clocks I've done all have real sand 😉 I definitely prefer the waves over real sand too. And I've been trying to figure out how to do a golden sandy beach for a while now 😁
Not at all. I wait till the epoxy starts to thicken (get closer to the end of its working time). It seems to help the white make cells and stay like that instead of all mixing up and looking like clouds
Love the waves! I've been struggling to get better defined waves like yours . When you applied the 2nd blue layer, did you make up the white resin (applied at 7 minutes) at the same time so that it had gone "off" for 20 minutes before using?
