Against all odds, but WITHIN all restrictions, the annual volunteering trip to Talyllyn was miraculously still possible this year. We also ventured to the Ffestiniog Railway's 'Bygones Weekend' to see the now fully lined and named Welsh Pony, as well as their famous gravity train.
We also get an inside look at the Rev.W.Awdry study, see some very cool places and models, and, of course, act most maturely.

Always a treat to watch your videos! Your Talyllyn trips always make me yearn to go back again and explore a bit when the weather is nicer. The last time I was there it decided to rain, but it was still a lovely day. There always seems to be more to see there, I'll have to see if I can find a guide to show me what's what next time haha

@@elsbridgeproductions Thank you! There's certainly so much to explore and I find new things each time. So many railways in Wales alone I've not been to yet. I'm glad you enjoy these videos anyway until you can see the places for yourself again. I have to admit though, Wales is world famous for its rain, so you came on a good day! I'd love to visit the Ffestiniog or any of the other Welsh railways too someday, so it would be awesome if we could arrange something someday! I have to agree that, like you said, Hendy is a beautiful place. I’ve stayed there on the two occasions I’ve visited the TR and had a wonderful stay both times. Shoutout to the lovely folks who run the place and keep us railway nerds comfortable.
Yeah, Anne (not sure how she spells her name) is a lovely lady, she's dealt with my family for years and even sends us Christmas cards with pictures of the talyllyn locos on them. Love the place to bits.
@@annoyingginger5077 Oh Crikey, yeah I remember the Christmas card. I don’t think I got one the second year I stayed there, likely as it was 2020 so everyone was cautious about posting things. I definitely got one after my first visit though!
@@Living_Life_RN we've had one every year, my parents stayed there as a honeymoon, we've gone nearly every year since, only missing two years, which weren't due to covid
I was meant to go to Barmouth in North Wales earlier this year and I would have visited the Talyllyn Railway but was unable to due to the pandemic. This video has made me truly happy.

I thought that was a awesome video max and some of it was so funny and I was at the Ffestiniog Railway for the bygones weekend on Sunday it was a awesome event and I attempted to video Palmerston leaving Porthmadog with the goods train but it didn’t turn out well tho at least you caught Palmerston at the better time then I did 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😍😍🚂

I said last week that I would be back for part 2. It was worth the return trip. You know, despite your concerning predictions being uncovered... Why didn't you predict the reboot then?? ;) .To think that all the equipment could have been lost whilst traveling next to the river. I certainly would not have attempted that! Excellent vlog once again Max and I'll be sure to stick around for part 3!

way did you have your hands full of fire wood in the picture? are you the fire lighter at Pendry engine sheds?
There's not really a firelighter as a separate role as such any more. I'm a cleaner there, so essentially there to help prep the engines and work around the yards, but also learning how to fire.
