12:49 Where should YOU live in Hawaii?
Crying in Oahu is the total opposite of crying in the mainland 😂 tears of joy in Hawaii vs tears of heartache in Cali😂❤🎉
Oahu is by far my favorite of all the Hawaiian islands 😊.
Mine too. All the islands have something to love, but O'ahu has a lot to offer.
shout out to this person!! so well spoken amongst so many boring UA-camrs these days... can't wait to move there soon
I used to live right on Kalaheo Dr in Kailua back in the 90s. Went back last month to play at the beach…. Wow it has changed. Not an inch of parking anymore near the beach.
Then moved to Makiki to be closer to work. I rode a motorcycle so I always had parking lol.
Then lived in Mililani for a short time.
If I were to live on Oahu today I’d either go all in and live in town for the action or all in and live in the country (north shore/Waialua) to get away from it all lol.
Another great video Maila. You are such a great speaker and presenter, always on point and it keeps me engaged with your content. The overall production helps but if you're not a great speaker it just won't work out. Keep up with the awesome content, I always look forward to the next one!
Thank you, thank you for watching and encouraging.
Wow, you covered every thing for every body. Awesome job, Maila and your team! We will check them out next time when we travel to there. Thank you very much!
Thank you so much!
Been to 5 u Right OAHU Great has everything so take the BUS !!!😁
Another great video n sun dresses 👗. 🎉🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏🌝🌝☀️☀️! Interesting.
Loved this video!
Great video so informative 😊😊😊🏄🏽🌺🌊
Really enjoy your videos and this one was no exception. You really did highlight the personality of each community. Super informative with funny bits thrown in, all shot and edited beautifully. Personally, as a bonafide city person, I love living in the Ward Village area.
Thank you! I liked living in Kakaako too. Glad you’re liking Ward Village. Which building are you in?
Super video I really loved it and so excited to move there soon for “ semi-retirement! “ 🌺♥️🌺 MAHALO 🤙
Love the video (as always) and you've given me a few places to check out when I'm on island next. Moku looks good lol.
Truffle fries all day everyday! And their mai tai with lilikoi foam is to die for.
Watching this video reminds me that I am from NUUANU VALEY on the south shore of oahu, and as far ad coffee is concerned buy your own KONA coffee, and the best place to shop is at ALOHA STADIUM on the weekens, best deals and with the food buy your own and take it home.
planning on taking a job in Oahu in November. Thanks a bunch for this information!
Lived in wahiiwa, eva beach and waikiki. Loved the surf at Waikiki and Daimond head beach. Aw, now i miss it again.
❤❤❤
Thank you for creating these wonderful informative videos. If I may make a suggestion, which would help many unfamiliar with the locations of the communities you talk about, Could you show map locations of the communities as you talk about them. Thank you. My wife and I always looking forward to your video and possible retirement to Hawaii.
Thank you for that feedback, yes, we'll find more ways to incorporate maps. It's definitely something we do on each corresponding neighborhood page of our website. We're working on a master map that will highlight each neighborhood on Oahu -- linking to each video and neighborhood guide as well. Are there any neighborhoods that currently have your interest?
@@dwellhawaii We like the Eastern side of Oahu
See you in 3.5 years when I'm ready to semi retire. I'm coming from NYC and have been traveling to Oahu almost every year since 2010. Not sure if I'll rent or buy but I will cross that bridge when I get there. Happy Holidays 🎄🎄🎄
I’m obsessed I will live there one day
Nice video and find it interesting even as a local kamaaina living here. Looks like you had some gorgeous weather to film this segment and makes our island so much more appealing. I didn't feel you spent enough time talking about Hawaii Kai which is also my home. I did watch some of your dedicated videos about Hi Kai though so props to that. Keep up the good work and maybe one day I see you at Costco HiKai...or as Auntie might say "I no kea"...
You know? I actually realized that after I watched it myself. I should have talked about Hawaii Kai more, especially when it comes to a great place for families and schools. I’ll be making another Hawaii Kai video again soon. See you at Costco…or not. 😆
@@mailagibson6787 We both know where is the best place to live anyways right? BTW...not Kauai LOL. Good luck on your yard renovations. Really looks like you found a gem that is starting to look real nice now. I recall being a young kid riding my bike out on Kalanianaole Hwy then turned on Lunalilo. I thought how gorgeous this area is and what a dream would be to call this area home. Today I am living the dream since 1992! Aloha! BTW - you got some local lingo there.
Great Woman, thanks for let us dream 🙏
Dream on! 😊
Great video.
Hi!! I live in New York City for last 25 years. I went to Hawaii three times..and couple months is gonna be my fourth time...I love all Hawaiian islands, and I’m going to look for apartment… to buy.. have to be closer to the beach 🏝️ any recommendations please..
Kailua is my favorite place if I can move there.
Kailua’s a great neighborhood.
I feel as a local girl you are where to go !!!!! You know O’ahu inside out ! Continue to please pronounce our Hawaii olelo pololei 🥰
Ohhh mahalo nui. I will do my best. Thank you for calling me a girl and not a lady. 😂
@@mailagibson6787 🤣😂🤣😂
Thank you nice video!
Thank you!
I recently found your videos. I love them! If we could find jobs that would support our same lifestyle there that we have on the mainland, we'd move tomorrow! I love the Hawaiian culture and am jealous of the family focus and the rich culture as I don't have that.
I would add Kapolei for multi generational families. It is sort of like Orange County in the 1970's. Suburban Vibe, newer construction, all the services, stores and reataurants, best and most library on the island, Costco and government services with variety of medical services.
Thank you for this! We have yet to do a spotlight on Kapolei.
Kailua
I’m so glad you didn’t mention where we live. ❤️😂
😂
Great video! Any place you recommend for that old school vibe feel?
That’s a great question! Old school might be Kapahulu/Kaimuki/Palolo Valley.
Retire to Ni'ihau. It might be neat if you could, and then would that be on the beach, near the mountains, the east coast, west coast?
I was just watching a 22 minute helicopter fly-over video and it almost looks otherworldly, having grown up knowing it as "the forbidden island" and being private. I never saw any pictures of it until the internet.
I gotta check that out. Even though my job is selling homes and land, I like that Niihau is left alone.
I was wondering what the best public high school is in Oahu. Thank you!
Great question! Moanalua High School and Mililani High School are touted as being 2 of the best. I hear Kalani High School and Kaiser are good too, but I have no actual proof or data.
Wonderful!!! Is the summer surf good for beginners learning to surf?
Stick to Waikiki for learning. 👍
@@mailagibson6787 okay thank you!
What about Moloka'i if I said it correctly 😅😅😅!?
Dwell looks home grown and probably never experienced some of the negativity
I was actually born and raised in Missouri while my mom is from Hawaii. I experienced hate and bullying when I lived here at 9 years old, mostly because of the way I talked. I had a mid-western/southern drawl that the local kids didn’t understand. It built character in me and helped me to find my way to interact with different people from all walks of life.
I have seen some of your videos. Good job guys. One question: which is the best place for a European to live? A European who has travel a lot.
Thank you.
@@GNMi79 Oh, I am perfectly aware of that. Apparently I am asking as a European who wants to visit Hawai. Apparently it isn't affordable to tour all the islands.
@ 7:46 I may be wrong, but where it says Manoa I think should be Ewa Beach?
😳🤫😂
Well crap. 🫣
Sometimes we like to test people to see if they’re paying attention. 😉
@@mailagibson6787 🤣 love the videos! Been dreaming of living in Hawaii some day.
Thank you Andrew! I can tell you really watch since you caught our mistake. 😂
How much does a studio cost living in Waikiki
Hi Ray, your average studio will range from $250k - $400k but can also run much higher in some of the luxury condos. Here's a link to help you search: www.dwellhawaii.com/waikiki/
We have a Living In Waikiki video coming up next too. Stay tuned for that one!
people say it is cold when it gets to 65
Background music was way too intrusive (esp the intro)
Forgot Waianae 😂
In just the first 20 seconds of this video it was drastically tone deaf. Do wanna this, do you like that, do like butterflies and rainbows.... miss ma'am, people on this island can't even afford rent for 285sq/ft studio let alone $900k+++ homes, and hell even mortgaging a cheap studio in a old building is still impossible when you factor in the $1,000+++ HOA fees.
She no cares... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha!! She totally forced me to wear those lei. Did you see her face when I was giggling? She no care. 😂
😂
Condolulu sucks.
Best place is east side unless you like traffic litterly 3 hours in your car going 10 miles
