You brother was so precious. Glad your parents kept him in your growing up loves. Most just don't talk about loss. And you are so sweet. I am 53 but I love your videos.
I’m so sorry that church pushed you away when they should have been drawing you closer! I also found my faith through a ‘fun’ youth group experience in middle school. I have definitely had differences with some churches and more really with people in the churches. But I have never let go of my relationship with God. I hope you still have that and know it’s real. Thank you for opening up and being real, it’s easy to be what you ‘should’ when you communicate through a camera. ❤️❤️
Omg!! I can’t believe you took that Barbie picture!! I remember seeing that on Tumblr and Facebook when I was young😱 thank you for sharing all these facts with us!💖
Those bead pieces are INSANE!!!! I remember doing some, but never that intricate. If you ever did some video that somehow you were able to incorporate a tutorial for those bead masks that would be so cool Such a fun video!
I love how she tries to build a relationship with her followers and subscribers by doing stuff like this and also doing frequent live shows and replying to comments.
So sorry to hear about your negative experience with your church. :( Any boundaries being crossed is never okay.. You are so loved and it breaks my heart when broken and imperfect people can push others away from the love of Christ because of their own imperfections and actions. We are so broken. In any case, I really loved watching this video, and I think you are so wonderful, Emma! Thank you for sharing!
i just recently found your channel a few days ago and i’m obsessed with you and your love for books. you seem like a really down to earth and understanding person.
I love that your eyeshadow matches your shirt. One thing about me is that As I child I choose the profession I wanted to go into and it has never changed which is strange as many of my friends have changed their thoughts on what they wanted to do. I have and still do want to become a lawyer specialising in human rights and anti corruption and recently your videos on mental health has made me realise how important mental health issues are in this field.
My mother's first born had the same fate as your brother, my sister almost went the same way. She had to have all her blood replaced, then another brother came without complications. But since all those were C-section she was never supposed to have me, I was a really risky pregnancy and my mum had to bring one of her sister from Morocco to take care of me since she couldn't take care of me the first year. She was that tired and basically still recovering. (that was 30 years ago, when c-section were the equivalent of being butchered, not the cutesy tiny cut they are today)
Loved the video! Yay for bunnies! I was obsessed with photography too, my dream was to go to art school to learn pretty much everything art/creativity related. I’m pretty much self taught with everything, but you learn new stuff everyday!
This video is so interesting and I'm really glad you were able to open up so much. I almost cried when you were talking about your brother. And it's so cool to see how creative you are in so many different ways. Your photos are amazing!
You talking about your brother means a lot to me because when my mom was pregnant with me she was expecting twins, but the other twin died in the womb. It hurts to think about who they could've been and how different my life would be, but hearing you talk about a sibling you never met is really touching. You as a person just inspire me
I love this! The green on bottom was gorgeous! Your life reminds me of my childhood and home and also makes me feel super proud of your accomplishments. Living in Italy for the last two years, I get a lot of my “american” connection through UA-cam and you are one of my favorites so thank you!!
I love this video! It's so cool to hear you talk about random things about you, it was a great video. Something about me is that I recently started trying to write my first novel. I've been wanting to for years but I finally decided to start. It's a tough process but definitely worth it.
Thank you for sharing Emma - never would have expected any of those but that's so cool that you are so creative with photography and kandi - I'm super impressed! In addition to reading, I also love to sing more than I even might love books and I'm obsessed with music - I started a music channel on this account back in January and have since gotten more comfortable in front of cameras and I'm really enjoying growing as a singer! Love your videos Emma!
omg your kandi is amazing!!!!! i was also obsessed but never made anything so intricate!! it’d be awesome if you made a tutorial in the future, maybe showing how to make some bookish kandi like for BIBIB or something? :)
It's crazy how being in a different part of the USA changes how you grow up. I'm almost 24 and we didn't have band starting until 5th grade in my area but I didn't start playing flute until 6th grade. Also the Kandi thing wasn't anything I was aware of in my area. I'm sure people did it but I just learned about it after watching the video. Great video. :)
I totally identify with having a sibling you never got to meet. My mom had a baby girl just over a year before I was born, but she ended up getting cancer at just a few months old and passed away before I came along. It would've been so cool to have a sister that close to me in age ❤
I totally get what you mean about falling out with a church and boundaries being crossed. I hate it that one person involved with my old churches youth group completely ruined that space for me and made it so I no longer felt safe in a place of worship.
I'd love to see more personal videos on booktube sometimes, because it can give a way better impression of people's characters than just the casual ones. Now I feel like I have quite a (positively) different view of yourself as a person and a booklover. It's lovely to get to 'know' you better. :)
I have wanted a bunny for years! Once I graduate college and get my own place I will get one! I do watch bunny videos at night and cry sometimes.... also I’m in my college’s Quidditch club! I’m a beater! :) I’ve also had complete blue, purple, and pink hair at different times. I love it and miss it but it is so much work! I did photography for 3 years of high school! I love it and miss shooting in film so much! Maybe I can take a photo class later on it college :)
I love to dye my hair. I think I had pretty much every colour except for a bright yellow up until now. Purple, pink, blue, green, red, orange, grey, white and every „normal“ hair colour there is. I miss the purple. :) Your green/black hair looked really awesome!
What a great video! Thank you for sharing. 😊 I want to start a UA-cam channel - mostly about books this year. Also, I did kickboxing for a while and I want to get back into it. You make pole look like so much fun, I might try that soon!
I feel you about your brother. I actually have another sister who was born 1 year before my sister, but unfortunately died right after she was born. We also celebrate her birthday every year
heyy I play the cornet!!! I’ve been playing for about 15 years now and I love it so much and it’s been such a huge part of my life and it’s so cool to find out that you used to play too!
The fact that always comes to my mind with these types of things is that I’ve performed on Broadway! The summer between my freshman and sophomore years I was invited with my school choir to go to New York and perform at an autism benefit at the Gershwin Theatre with a bunch of other groups.
I loved this video! Have you ever consider getting back into the cornet? I loved learning about all your creativity from art to music and other crafts. Thanks so much for sharing all of this with us!
Thank you for sharing, loved learning more about you!! As for something you don't know; I'm a counselor at a youth movement that combines children and teen with disabilities with other teens, and basically let the kids or teens with disablities feel welcomed and included, while educating about and normalizing disabilities to the other teens. ("disabilities" : physical, autism, intellectual disabilities etc...)
Videos like this one are a big part of why I can get confident enough to post some of my own more personal videos. Hmmm something I haven't shared here on BookTube . . . So something I did mention before is that while I was enlisted in the Navy I was in a serious depression and had to handle the ups and downs of that while keeping up with a high tempo work environment. What I don't think I shared about that though is that going through such a demanding experience is probably the most beneficial thing I could have done. It definitely helped me put a lot of things into perspective. During this timeframe, I lost my grandmother from my mother's side of the family and while most of the family was in the loop of information with her health and such beforehand I wasn't, mostly because I was wrapped up in my own things going on. So I learned the lesson that no matter what I'm going through other people are going through their own trials at the same time. As a result, I try to be as kind as possible when dealing with anyone because I'll never know exactly what they have to deal with. I meant to write something happy and uplifting but I think this got to be a little middle ground as far as subject matter goes hahaha. Either way, thanks for sharing this with us all and amazing job on the video, per the usual hahaha.
Thanks so much for sharing - its interesting to hear about all these different sides to you that we never really knew about. One thing that always surprises people to hear (since I'm an avid reader now) is that I basically couldn't really read or write till I was about 9 years old. I'm severely dyslexic and just couldn't be bothered to try for the longest time, my parents did read to me most nights and one night the book they were reading left in a cliffhanger and I couldn't stand having to wait till the next evening to find out what happened so I just picked up the book and started to read (and haven't really stopped since). Also kind of random, but one of the girls in the last of the picture of your church-youth groups looks just like sarahsunbeemz.
Going on Youth Group camps and trips are some of my best memories too! Though my experience ended well and even though I've moved away, a lot of those people are still super supportive :)
This video was so interesting to watch! I have to say, you're one of my favorite youtubers, definitely a favorite booktuber because you're just so honest and genuine in your videos and you keep making incredible content! 🙌😄 And aww I'm sorry about Richie 😩 that must've been terrible for your mom 😱💔😘❤
Something I don’t ever really mention is that in middle school I had 5 imaginary sisters that were all my age (because why be logical). Middle school is pretty late to have imaginary friends but I didn’t have many real friends and the ones I did have didn’t really respect my social boundaries so I created people I could hang out with who did. Which I realize sounds kind of sad, but really the whole thing is kind of funny.
I do costume design. I actually designed the talent competition costume for Miss Oregon for this past Miss America competition and had an internship in my freshman year of college with an award winning costume designer that was actually searching for a student in an MBA theater program. Costume design is my first love!
YOUR EYEBROWS ARE FLAWLESS. Forever thankful that for your kandi kid days and all the kandi that you made me and I still have. Love and miss u LIBB!! Come see me soon (hella bookstores in Edinburgh)
omg i used to play the trumpet! did you play the trumpet as well or just the cornet? also, i feel you, braces wrecked me. AND i played quidditch my first year in college, too! i was a beater and we were actually pretty good haha :) i transferred schools so i don't play anymore but i wish i did!
I wouldn’t trade the memories I’ve made with my youth group for anything either. I met my boyfriend of 6 years there and most of my best friends. I’m glad you got to experience something similar. I wish it would have turned out better for you!
Im 15 and you totally opened my eyes to mental health. I had no idea what it was but now I want to learn everything about it and I think I might even want to take classes about it. So thank you for introducing me into one my biggest passions (I know that it might sound a bit weird to LIKE mental health but 🤷🏼♀️)
One thing about me: as much as I'm a bookworm I am also a huge gamer, and married to a huge gamer. We actually been putting super hours into far cry 5 and my favorite games are God of War (new one coming out soon 4/20 I have ordered the God of War PS4 even though I have the limited edition gold PS4) also hitman I remember playing that back in PS2 days. My husband is a Zelda fan he has tattooed on him like 3 times. We have player one and player 2 tattoos. Lol sorry geeked out for a second
When you started talking about how you played the cornet & got evaluated I was immediately like NYSSMA OMG. I have fond memories of nyssma growing up & now i am a violin major in college :))))
Cool hairstyle! And again as always love your makeup. And also thank you for posting this video. I was able to learn more about you which was great because you are my favourite booktuber. I am so sad i was late though. I always want to be early.
I think I finally found someone who has dyed their hair as much as me. I love getting to know more about people's lives. Those music videos where very entertaining.
ayyyy NYSSMA squad!!!! I did NYSSMA all throughout high school for singing, as I am actually a classically trained operatic soprano, which is kind of my go-to fun fact even though it sounds more impressive than it probably actually is!!
I used to have kandi too hahah. But something about me is that my house (when I'm home from college) is basically a small zoo. My whole family and I foster animals plus we have some of our own. Right now I think we have 7 dogs, 2 cats, several guinea pigs, a rat, a mouse, some fish, 2 axolotls, and some dart frogs. Plus over the last summer I personally had 3 foster kittens who I loved so much and it was so hard giving them to their new owners.
Thank you for sharing! It's always awesome to see that people over the internet are people with strange quirky interests like us! Also I now have 2 more books added to my tbr! BTW I love your hair like that. So pretty (as always :D)!
So sorry to hear about your brother, that mustve been so tough on your mom! You've had so many successful creative pastimes over the years, other than booktubing, what is your current creative outlet ? Do you write? Thanks & great video!
I was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). So I was in the NICU (Neonatal intensive care unit) for the early months of my life. During that time I could not be held or picked up by my parents unless one of the nurses prepped and then handed me to them. (And even then they had to scrub up and be in head to toe in germ-free garb). When I was 6 months old, I had to go back to NICU because I had contracted meningitis and then septicemia accompanied with seizures. It was hard for me to accept these circumstances when I was younger, but now I am a happy, healthy almost 25-year-old woman. And unless I share my story or show you my scars, one would never guess that I have had this experience.
Omg I loved your black hair with the green underneath! It’s was so pretty, I’m going to dye my hair soon and I think that I might get it like that. I love you Emma ❤️❤️❤️
I used to hate reading. I mean, I read school books and maybe one or two outside but it wasn't until I was fifteen that I truly started reading. (around 2011/2012). Now I enjoy it more and more everyday.
Cool to hear number 10! I definitely understand the resentment that can come from a Church environment but what helped me when I went through a similar thing was reading the book, "The bait of Satan," which helped me forgive❤️. A fact about me is that I have a rabbit called Gracie whom I adore. He has his own room, sits on my feet as I cook and bumps his nose on me whenever he wants me to move! 🐇. I also became a vegetarian after watching the documentary "Forks over knives"
Yeah it's really sad how so many Christians have twisted something that is supposed to give us hope and faith and make us love one another and have twisted it against people. They have so completely missed the point! I have been incredibly lucky that all of my churches I've been to have been nothing but sweet and absolutely devoted to being as loving as Christ but I have heard some horrible stories online and from some of my friends. I can definitely understand where the resentment comes from and I'm sure it's super hard to forgive them :(
OMG! I love completely this video, how many interesting things I didn't know about you, and I just can think you are an awesome and very unique person. Thanks for this video, Emma. XOXOXO
Those 2008/2009 photos remind me of the CRINGE of that dark middle school period ahahahah you are the physical real-life proof that there’s hope for every teenager to turn out GORGEOUS 💕💕 P.s. I’m so sorry about Richie 😥
I love this video, it really feels like getting to know you😁 Something you don‘t know about me: I‘ve been playing the piano for about 11 years now (I‘m 17) and I want to be a piano teacher. I am also interested in Psychology, although I don‘t know a lot about it yet, I‘m hoping to learn more every day!
Thanks so much for sharing these amazing tidbits of information. Aaah I'd love to see your music videos someday haha. (Although you'll probably never share them lmao). Also, your bead creations just look SO amazing, you should be super proud! Also bunnies, YAY! I had bunnies as a young teen as well. They were adorable and unfortunately were killed by a wild animal :( I never got any other ones (my parents didn't let me) so I've been pet-less since :/ Also, I am so sorry about baby brother. That is just super incredibly sad. I'm sure that you guys will definitely see one another again in heaven and have that brother/sister bond that you were meant to have. I'm so sorry that you had a bad experience with your church :/ I think that sadly there are very many believers out there who fall into being unloving and that can definitely leave a bad and (like you said) resentful feeling towards organized churches. I myself am very glad that I never had any bad experiences (my church has so far been suuuuuper encouraging and supportive of my own mental battles and they are actually super open about a lot of things) but I can totally relate and understand people's skepticism. After all, Jesus Himself said that He doesn't want religion and rules and hypocrisy but simply people who have faith and love Him and one another. The "Church" was never meant to be organized religion in buildings with power and authority, but simply the entirety of people who have faith and love everyone. While it might not be my place to say this, I would highly encourage you to explore your faith away from people who make you feel unwelcome and unloved. That's not what faith should be about, and unfortunately a lot of people have taken the beautiful story of Jesus and what He did for us, and twisted it into something that shames people and allows people to be hypocritical. Just remember that this is not an accurate reflexion of who God has revealed Himself to be. He is Love and simply wants people to walk in love and kindness and humility and faith in His Son.
I REMEMBER KANDI! I never got to go to any edm concerts though when i was into them but i did go to a christian rave that had christian edm. Youve never lived until youve heard DROP THE JESUS followed by a bass drop
Great video it’s so awesome that we know a little bit more about you I used to be so into doing those bracelets too and I love the space buns that’s my favorite hairstyle
I practically had the same experience with the sibling thing. I already had two older brothers when my mom got pregnant again and the same thing happened. Though probably I wouldn't be born if that didn't happen because my parents were only planning on having 3 kids.
emma in yellow makes me believe that love exists
dis my favorite comment
I mean, I was just gonna say that she looks nice in yellow, but your comment works too.

Omg yes. I love your videos. sorry of that sounds cringey or annoying lmao

Only a few people can pull off yellow and space buns, and emma is one of them. So cute!
you are too kind!!!
😊 you're very welcome.
You are gLOWING in that yellow, queen 💛😍
You brother was so precious. Glad your parents kept him in your growing up loves. Most just don't talk about loss. And you are so sweet. I am 53 but I love your videos.

ahhh i'm so happy to hear it!!
❤️❤️❤️ Love the look! The eyeshadow makes your eyes POP❤️❤️❤️
thank you
There are so many things you talked about that are so relatable and things I have gone through! Love that I’m not alone!
Wow! Thank you so much for being vulnerable and sharing so much. I found it so cool and interesting. Loved what you shared.

This video was so interesting to watch! I have to say, you're one of my favorite youtubers, definitely a favorite booktuber because you're just so honest and genuine in your videos and you keep making incredible content! 🙌😄 And aww I'm sorry about Richie 😩 that must've been terrible for your mom 😱💔😘❤
thank you so much
Something I don’t ever really mention is that in middle school I had 5 imaginary sisters that were all my age (because why be logical). Middle school is pretty late to have imaginary friends but I didn’t have many real friends and the ones I did have didn’t really respect my social boundaries so I created people I could hang out with who did. Which I realize sounds kind of sad, but really the whole thing is kind of funny.
nothing sad about it! i totally can understand :)
I played the cornet too! I also do oboe and French horn
OMG SO AWESOME
ahhhh it is so interesting seeing how creative and talented you are in so many different aspects!
I do costume design. I actually designed the talent competition costume for Miss Oregon for this past Miss America competition and had an internship in my freshman year of college with an award winning costume designer that was actually searching for a student in an MBA theater program. Costume design is my first love!
Thanks for sharing these things Emma. It is really amazing - you should make more videos like this.
YOUR EYEBROWS ARE FLAWLESS. Forever thankful that for your kandi kid days and all the kandi that you made me and I still have. Love and miss u LIBB!! Come see me soon (hella bookstores in Edinburgh)
i love you so much and miss you
I am loving your hair, makeup and outfit in this video!
Where did you get that top from?? I've been looking for one like it for ages.
omg i used to play the trumpet! did you play the trumpet as well or just the cornet? also, i feel you, braces wrecked me. AND i played quidditch my first year in college, too! i was a beater and we were actually pretty good haha :) i transferred schools so i don't play anymore but i wish i did!
I really enjoyed this video. You are so open and articulate, I couldn't stop watching.
I wouldn’t trade the memories I’ve made with my youth group for anything either. I met my boyfriend of 6 years there and most of my best friends. I’m glad you got to experience something similar. I wish it would have turned out better for you!
In love with your look in this video, especially the nails😍ps what song did you use for the background music? x
Im 15 and you totally opened my eyes to mental health. I had no idea what it was but now I want to learn everything about it and I think I might even want to take classes about it. So thank you for introducing me into one my biggest passions (I know that it might sound a bit weird to LIKE mental health but 🤷🏼♀️)
awh i'm so so happy to hear that
One thing about me: as much as I'm a bookworm I am also a huge gamer, and married to a huge gamer. Lol sorry geeked out for a second
wow that is super awesome!! i'm so happy you and your husband can share that. and don't ever apologize for geeking out :)
When you started talking about how you played the cornet & got evaluated I was immediately like NYSSMA OMG. I have fond memories of nyssma growing up & now i am a violin major in college :))))
you’re so beautifully soft spoken & eloquent! every video is asmr imo lmao❤️
You’re so talented! Between the pole dancing, hooping, photography, video making, etc.
Also I’m digging your look in this video. You are gorgeous :)
You look really pretty Emma !!
thank you so much
Cool hairstyle! And again as always love your makeup. And also thank you for posting this video. I was able to learn more about you which was great because you are my favourite booktuber. I am so sad i was late though. I always want to be early.
aw you are so sweet!! thank you for watching
I think I finally found someone who has dyed their hair as much as me. I love getting to know more about people's lives. Those music videos where very entertaining.
hahah yes addicted to hair dye!!!!
ayyyy NYSSMA squad!!!! I did NYSSMA all throughout high school for singing, as I am actually a classically trained operatic soprano, which is kind of my go-to fun fact even though it sounds more impressive than it probably actually is!!
wow i didn't kno that, that's so amazing!!!!
Ok but how on Earth did you play quidditch without flying broomsticks?? I’m just picturing people running around with sticks between their legs 😂
that's literally it - the entire game is played one handed and you must have a broom between your legs at all times XD NO JOKE
emmmabooks NO! That’s both amazing and hilarious wow
Thank you for sharing! It's always awesome to see that people over the internet are people with strange quirky interests like us! Also I now have 2 more books added to my tbr! BTW I love your hair like that. So pretty (as always :D)!
thank you sweetie
The world would be a very dull place if we didn't!
“penguin teen” sounds like a book about an adorable penguin teen going through high school
Yellow is REALLY your color I LOOOVEEE your eyeshadow!!
So sorry to hear about your brother, that mustve been so tough on your mom! You've had so many successful creative pastimes over the years, other than booktubing, what is your current creative outlet ? Do you write? Thanks & great video!
I LOVE your shirt!! Where did you get it, it’s so fabulous!!
I can definitely understand where the resentment comes from and I'm sure it's super hard to forgive them :(
This was my favorite video so far!! You are such a wonderful and lovely person!
thank you so much!!
Your makeup is perfect 👌😍
Loved getting to know you better!
thank you!!!!
LOL 6:20 "my good friends is all I need" :):):) loved the vid!!
OMG! I love completely this video, how many interesting things I didn't know about you, and I just can think you are an awesome and very unique person. Thanks for this video, Emma. XOXOXO
Those 2008/2009 photos remind me of the CRINGE of that dark middle school period ahahahah you are the physical real-life proof that there’s hope for every teenager to turn out GORGEOUS 💕💕
P.s. I’m so sorry about Richie 😥
I love this video, it really feels like getting to know you😁
Something you don‘t know about me: I‘ve been playing the piano for about 11 years now (I‘m 17) and I want to be a piano teacher. I am also interested in Psychology, although I don‘t know a lot about it yet, I‘m hoping to learn more every day!
um im shook your photos are amazing!
So sorry about your brother. I hope he’s living with the angels ❤️💕
He is Love and simply wants people to walk in love and kindness and humility and faith in His Son.
i loved learning so much more about you!!
I REMEMBER KANDI! I never got to go to any edm concerts though when i was into them but i did go to a christian rave that had christian edm. Youve never lived until youve heard DROP THE JESUS followed by a bass drop
Great video it’s so awesome that we know a little bit more about you I used to be so into doing those bracelets too and I love the space buns that’s my favorite hairstyle
your eyes look amazing! love this eyeshadow and love learning more about you! :-))
I practically had the same experience with the sibling thing. I already had two older brothers when my mom got pregnant again and the same thing happened. Though probably I wouldn't be born if that didn't happen because my parents were only planning on having 3 kids.
yes i also would not have been born if they had raised my brother! so nice to see someone understand :)
