32 mins and somehow u staying on point is impressive itself. Thank you for sharing, your info does not go unnoticed !
There was a lot to get through here. I really wanted to get all this info out there. 🤙🏻
Really hoping TPEE LSP stays around in some form. I wasn't a fan of the peba based midsole I tried in the Endospeed3, and it's nice to have other options on the market. The current LSP has a reputation for durability, which is fantastic in my opinion, but I don't think durability has the same marketing power as cutting edge performance, and Adidas using a peba based midsole in the Pro Evo 1 definitely felt like an admission of sorts
I too hope TPEe LSP stays around for sometime. I’ve really come to enjoy it and find the durability it has fantastic. I would hope it would replace their EVA Lightstrike/Lightstrike 2.0 foams, at least in the Adizero range.
We will see the first full LSP midsole, with no rods or plates, in the Adios 9 in 2024 (the forbidden red shoe). That’s exciting and I hope it’s a trend to come for using LSP alone more.
As far as an “admission or sorts”… it is, very much. I’ve been talking about this from the second video on this channel… than Adidas needs a softer and more versatile foam to compete with Nike (and other now). The foam in the Evo 1 is clearly doing that now.
Still, LSP is a great midsole material and hopefully it has many more years ahead for it.
I would say their estimated production costs are actually massively infoated due to their small run not diluting the cost of r&d.
100% yes. Which is why the cost estimate of around $500 USD… if they could scale it over time… which would take a huge investment to make happen.
This is the insider information we need! Yeaaa! Thanks!
I hope this was interesting and useful! 🤙🏻
Great content as always 👌😎
Thank you. 🤙🏻
Very interesting video, thank you. Much more informative than most running videos.
I hope it was useful. Thank you for watching. 🤙🏻
Thank you for this , a great vlog casting our eyes on the future 🙂
So much exciting stuff coming for Adizero… so much!
Well done. Thanks for the deep dive. I feel a good bit more knowledgeable now
That is the intent for sure. Thank you for watching. 🤙🏻
Very interesting! Thanks👍
I’m glad it was interesting! 🤙🏻
i enjoy this video, watched every second
I appreciate the support. 🤙🏻
Great analysis again and content overall for us running shoe geeks, unlike any other channel. Can you elaborate on the Adios Pro 4 development and production delay (did I hear you say ”failed”?), if you happen to know of the background?
It’s great times to be interested in running shoes and where they are going. Cheers from Finland.
I already have a video on it (also linked in the description): The Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 is the future of Adizero racing: ua-cam.com/video/V0uuLFu8gD8/v-deo.htmlsi=xXekL6oeFyEOJear
That breaks it all down and how the Evo 1 came out of the original AP4 program.
The other three videos in the description cover a lot of other details around the Prime X tech and so on.
Excellent video. I don't consider you a shoe reviewer (although you are one of the best at that too) since you offer so much more with this kind of insight..kind of like a shoe futurist!
Ha! I appreciate the kind words. My goal with this channel is to cover a range of topics and content types. 🤙🏻
Really fascinating deep dive as always, love the content you put out. Adidas could also leverage the different manufacturing methods for Peba if they choose to go that route. Give the EVO 1 the raw, cut material to maintain it's status as an elite shoe, but in the consumer Adios Pro 4/5/6, use injection or compression moulded Peba to cut the cost down and make it denser/more feasible to use with the rods. Regardless I hope they don't move away from the rods as that gives their shoes something different than the rest of the industry (and I say that having done another run in the Prime X2 this morning). Also, Adidas if you're reading this. Give me an Adidas version of the Invincible, no rods, no plates just a big chunk of Lightstrike Pro cushioning. Please.
I do think they may go that route and manufacture a PEBA midsole with compression molding for a more commercial shoe. The delicate rods issue still remains but I’m sure it can be solved in some form.
The problem with a huge chunk of LSP like that is the shoe would be heavy and almost too springy, you just don’t need a lot of it. The “forbidden red shoe” is going to be 20-28mm (or thereabouts) of only LSP but a little goes a long way there… but yes… I can’t wait for more pure LSP midsole shoes.
I’m quite excited to the SL 2.0. It will probably be my first Adizero shoe.
It will be a great one to start with. The entire modern SL line have all be great in their day.
Really interesting discussion. Maybe the Adios Pro becomes the Boston 14/15. Also, the Hyperion Elite 4 just came out with a web-like plate. You should keep track of your predictions so you can go back to them in 2-3 years.
I can’t see the Adios Pro ever going away or dripping down a tier to be a Boston… plus the Evo 1 IS an Adios Pro model. We will just have a multiple models in that product line for the near future.
Part of publishing on this channel is so that I can go back to them. I’m not going anywhere and will keep covering (and referencing my old videos).
Oddly in the second video I ever made on this channel, my first Takumi Sen 9 video, I talked about how Adidas needed a more versatile/softer foam… 👀👀👀
@@SagasuRunning I often skip steps between my thoughts and my speaking. What I meant to say was that I'm thinking the Boston could end up with full Lightstrike Pro within a couple of years, with the Adios Pro being moved up to the next level foam. We're already seeing some of this trickle-down tech from other brands and the preview of the Adios 9 suggests it's getting full Lightstrike Pro. As someone who doesn't run in the latest and greatest, I welcome it.
@@kuriosites Fully agree with this. I’m quite excited about a full length LSP midsole with no rods (though likely a midfoot shank of some type, because Adios)… the Adios 9 looks 👌🏻.
Yours is the GOAT of running shoe channels ❤❤❤
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
really interesting, I also thought Adidas is losing money with the Evo and that it isn't really a production model but interesting to hear these numbers!
It’s a problem they created for themselves in the search of extreme performance. They have been very clear that no expense was spared in the “F1 car” like Evo 1. It was interesting to learn what that really means.
please prepare for the pro 4 and evo c foams? i need your breakdowns
Oh...I will...I'm already on it! 👍🏻
@@SagasuRunning Rewatching all your videos. Mind blown. Beautiful channel.
I appreciate the support and kind words! 🤙🏻
What do you think the Dreamstrike foam in the Supernova is made of then? I thought they said it was peba, but from reviews I've watched, it is definitely not the same peba as the Evo. So then is it just a completely new peba made exclusively for daily training models?
Yes, it’s a different PEBA they optimized for training. I was confused though when they said it came out of the Lightstrike Pro team…now it makes sense.
It seems Adidas is really working the new foams internally. Lots of development.
I am looking forward to the Supernova Rise due to the foam… I’m very curious about it.
@@SagasuRunning I tried Supernova Rise in Austin event (the one which Kofuzi attended), and I was not impressed with it. The DreamStrike+ foam didn't feel like pure PEBA or the EVA rods they put in the bottom of the shoe nerfed the performance. Supernova Rise for me in its current incarnation an easy/recovery day shoe (and with excessive padding in the heel collar and tongue) I hope your impression is better. Still waiting for a better performance daily trainer from Adidas.
@@TolunayOrkun As for the Supernova Rise...I'm not sure what people expected. It's not an Adizero shoe. The SUpernova series has been a budget line for a while now. It isn;t mean tto be a perfoenace shoe. it's a easy running cruiser shoe at best. I do find the tech in the shoe interesting. I'm curious about the midsole system. I'm glad it's not a pure PEBA feel... that wouldn't make sense in the Supernova at all.
Adidas's daily trainer is the Adizero SL....and the SL 2 looks fantastic this year. That is thie true performance trainer.
@@SagasuRunning I ran my first marathon in Supernova Boost which was the successor to Supernova Glide 8 and after that Supernova was cancelled until reappearance as a budget shoe. I still have that shoe for nostalgic reasons even though the lateral heel rubber is a bit chewed up. I went to the event with a great excitement in my older pair, came back with a bit of disappointment. That old pair of Supernova Boost felt better under my feet than the new Rise. I guess I really expected a lot more. Still, I am glad that Adidas is making an effort to address the needs of average runners and experimenting with new tech. Perhaps they have thrown too much tech to the shoe making it a bit complicated, trying to solve the problems that doesn't really need to be solved (the EVA rods). Hopefully the next iteration will be better. I am actually looking to buy a pair of Rise on discount to wear causally. I like the looks of it.
I will look at Adizero SL 2. SL 1 was great price wise but was not Adizero enough.
''Widely Available'' btw. I love how brands always find a loophole around the rules to benefit them. Hey atleast I'm looking forward to getting the forbidden red shoe :)
It’s an ambiguous rule. Though at least Adidas seems to have legitimate production reasons why they only produce a short run and require a lottery system for purchase. Nike on the other hand… has no excuse anymore.
… and yes, the forbidden red shoe is going to be 👌🏻.
I get the best results and least fatigue in long runs in the Adidas Pro 3. I am a heel striker and slow runner but it just feels like the midsole connects to to my body.. I love the Superblast and Endorphin Pro 3 and Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V1 but the Lighstrike Pro is so comfortable. I am about 100 miles on the Adidas Pro 3 and they just get better and better.
The AP3 is indeed special. If it wasn’t for that upped run in it much much more.
LSP does indeed get better and better the more miles/kms you put into it. It’s amazing like that.
@@SagasuRunning On your note of LSP, I wondered if I should break in my new AP3 which I will wear them for my Tokyo Marathon, so it's 4 weeks to go. If so, do you recommend me to just do an-hour easy run or a long run? PS. I've already experienced AP3 for my previous marathon race a year ago and just used the old AP3 for my recent half marathon race taken place 1.5 years ago. Both races got me PB.
Definitely… LSP does take a some time for it to mold to the bottom of your foot. I’d make sure I got at least 20-30k on my race pair of AP3s.
@@SagasuRunning Thank you for your prompt response, Chris. I thought I shouldn't consumed AP3 too much before the race. Now I realized I haven't put enough of miles for my previous AP3...
@@01lsw LSP is very durable and is better after a little break in period. Nike’s ZoomX is the one you should be a little more careful with, especially for a key race.
Just use your old AP3 for training and save the newer pair for racing and key workouts. Great combo!
I think Adidas should try to develop multiple versions of thr evo 1 to meet the perferences of pros for all the different distances.
To meet the world athletics Qualifications for shoes to be legal, they should keep selling a few of the evo1s.
If they Develop more versions of the evo1 and use what they learnt from the development, they can use similar tec in the actual consumer versions, meaning adios pro 4/5/6/7 anf also the Takumi sen 11/12/13.
Very interesting what happens in the future of Adidas. Nice Video as Always
If they are able to cut the foam out of a solid brick using some kind of CNC machine, they can propably also customize some features on the fly like drop etc.
Custom shoes like that would add a lot more cost ontop of the existing cost. It is possible would would take massive investment to make happen. If they did do that I doubt it would be for running. It would be a lifestyle shoe that has much broader marketing appeal in order to justify the cost. Once they perfected it there then you could see it in performance products.
Personally… I think the Takumi Sen’s days are numbered. The Evo 1 has all but replaced the TS use case. It really depends on how quickly they do move the Adios Pro platform to the new foam though.
Either the TS goes away or it gets another massive redesign to be a proper trainer again, not a racer. I doubt we will ever see a Takumi Sen Evo… as the Evo 1 is that already.
@@SagasuRunning Well, Evo 1 is definitely eye catching, but I am not sure Evo 1 is the greatest thing after sliced bread. Women's 10K road world record is broken by Agnes Jebet Ngetich in Takumi Sen 9 in Valencia (Jan 14, 2024). I would assume she had access to Evo 1 but chose Takumi Sen 9 over it. Also last year there was a half marathon race (names escape me right now) that the athlete wearing Takumi Sen 9 won over others wearing Evo 1. I don't think Takumi Sen will go away. It will probably evolve to incorporate newer technologies as they become available.
Update: The Half Marathon event I was talking is Valencia HM (Oct 22, 2023) Kibiwott Kandie, the winner, ran in Takumi Sen 9.
The Evo 1 isn’t the best thing since sliced bread. That was the Vaporfly in the running world. But for Adidas it is a big deal. They now have a shoe that is versatile like the Vaporfly and just as fast. So 5k to the marathon distance are set for them now.
With both the examples you cited I would expect they didn’t have access to the Evo 1 or they stuck to what they had been training in.
For Kibiwott Kandie I would expect he didn't have access to the Evo 1, it was ultra rare in Oct.
For Agnes Jebet Ngetich, I think she stuck with what she had been training in...which also explains why she wasn't in the Takumi Sen 10 as well. Though it could also have been. acess to either shoe as well.
@@SagasuRunning Fair enough. We will see how it goes from now on. I don't know how reliable your insider is, but I sure do hope Takumi Sen line continues. I believe it has its place and if Adidas eliminates Takumi Sen, people that are buying Takumi Sen for training and racing will probably look elsewhere as Evo 1 is not accessible enough (availability and pricewise) or durable.
There are far more people buying Takumi Sen line than sponsored elite athletes and reviewers. It will be a loss for Adidas to ignore them. That would be a strategic mistake.
Prob thats why i cant get any good adidas shoe on discount, meanwhile the vaporfly is the best cost/benefit race shoe you can get in Brazil
The Vaporfly might be the best cost/benefit shoe you can currently get anywhere... so you are good.
My friend broke the plate in a new Prime X2.. Definitely a prototype shoe.
That’s all the PX platform is. Mass testing of ideas and tech. Adidas has been very clear on that note since the beginning.
Interesstingly is Li-Ning uses that kind of foam type aswell, since some years.
If you order them directly from China these shoes smell horrible chemical, first I thought it like sauconys pwrn+ ... but nope its a tpee foam, feels really nice, is soft, snappy, and extremely durable. I have 400km in my feidian challenger 3 and 500km in my feidian elte, and barely see any sign of dmg in the foam itself.
Nikes zoom x usually needs around 15km till I see massiv wringles in the foam, lightstrike pro it starts slowly after around 150-200km (I know not comparable).
I'm just disappointed about the zoomx durability and glad I found Li-Ning for my speed and race day shoes together with adidas. (Saucony is nice too, but I dont like the feeling so much)
This is going to be something Adidas will need to balance. TPee LSP is very durable and consistent over many kms. PEBA may be more dynamic but it’s much less consistent. I’m very curious how they will balance the use of the two foams and how distinct they will make their race shoes from training shoes.
you must be fat or heel striker, my streakfly is still bouncy after 1150km
Adidas Evo sounds like my long gone.. Mitsubishi Evo which was also made at a big loss to Mitsubishi every car they sold and I had a few 🎉
Hahaha… the Lancer Evos had LONG storied history of insanity and crazy costs. I was a fan of the VI and VII versions…
@@SagasuRunning I had the 8 and 9.
@@i.p2088 the VIII was great looking. Wasn’t a fan of the IX rear end… the X redeemed that though.
increasing tolerance means a sloppier job. i guess you meant decreasing tolerance.
I realized that after the fact… yes. 🤓
I was thinking “increasing precision” in my head… it came out backwards due to that I guess.
Thanks for catching it.
