    honestly so much easier to just remove the throttle body, gives much more room and no need to touch the alternator bolt. Also a great time to clean the throttle body itself.

      @mountainmover777 2 роки тому +5

      Good point! They do have a video for that too, and I can confirm that removing the throttle body made this job much easier. It also frees up room for replacing the temperature sensor or sending unit.
      Yes I did clean my throttle body as well!

    Did my burst thermo.housing a few weeks ago , a couple things that delayed me :
    Sensor plug has to be clicked into sensor ( mine is a single sensor) before sliding housing into place on engine block , there's no room to do it after .
    Farthest rearward of the 3 housing bolts must be dropped into its hole before sliding housing into ace on block , there's no room to drop.it in after housing lands on its spot .
    * I cleaned my engine block with a green kitchen scrub pad piece before installing new thermo housing .
    Now for the big job, swapping out a burst heater core . Ouch.
    All this because I let my coolant % get weak all last summer , then a cold spell arrived . Totally preventable . Check your fluids , folks !!! 1 hour of checking could save you huge problems

    Great video really saved my butt and made it simple step by step.
    Too bad my thermostat wasn't the issue lol. Looks like the houseing got chewed up by the last guy to yank it out.
    Maybe y'all could do some diagnostic videos in the future?
    Thanks a million.

    Do you have any similar videos on replacing the thermostat housing for a 2000 Ford Explorer 4.0 or very similar? Additionally, how about replacing the Timing Chain on the same Ford 4.0 ?

    I don't suppose you guys sell the bottom radiator cover do you? Mine's gone.. I suppose I'll have to hit a junkyard and hope to find a replacement.
    These videos are a God send. Saving me so much money and teaching me skills along the way. Love it!

    I have a 2000 ranger with a 4.0. All the videos I see show the thermostat mounted vertically but on my engine it looks like the upper radiator house is mounted to a horizontally-mounted thermostat housing. Does that sound correct? (Tech note: this is not the original 4.0 engine. Maybe its from another year??)

    You only created more work for yourself by draining the radiator. I just took the hose loose from the thermostat housing and only lost about an ounce of coolant! 🤷🏻‍♂️ Why don’t you put the truck up on blocks, and remove the drivetrain while you’re at it?! There’s concise and then there’s ridiculous! 🙄

    I removed my old thermostat because my truck was over heating after driving all day it would over heat on stop and go traffic after i drove it all day but now after I put the new thermostat in its over heating right away as soon as I start driving it the needle goes up and down a lot what did I do wrong I barely leaked a little coolant so I just added a little water and I made sure the thermostat went in the same way

    Hey guys, not sure if anyone even looks at these comments anymore but, I recently changed the thermostat on my 2008 4L ford ranger and I had to put a massive amount of pressure on it to get to compress so I could get the bolts back in...that to me doesn't sound right....did the parts store give me the wrong thermostat?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  4 роки тому

      +Rahani11 Thanks for checking us out! Unfortunately, without being with the vehicle and examining the part we would not be able to confirm if the incorrect item was provided. If you are concerned the item is incorrect we would suggest having it looked at by a mechanic. Please let us know if you have any further questions!

    The actual thermostat area looks tricky and unclear. I guess I'll just have to kinda wing it. My thermostat came with a gasket around the perimeter. I am guessing that's all that's needed
