These Ranger tutorial videos are about the most helpful car videos I've seen on this platform. My truck is an 01 so this is pretty much spot on. Once again thanks for focusing on the repair and not adding any frills to it.
I just want to thank you guys. I have an '01 Ford Ranger. I bought the replacement radiator through your site, shipped & delivered on time. I followed the instructions on this video. And replaced my own radiator! Thank you for your clearly explained and clearly shown instructional video. It helped me out a lot! THANK YOU!

Great video with information that is clear and right to the point. No side trail stories or deviations. Thank you, I enjoy all of your informative videos.
Was bringing in a mechanic to install it and when I went into the University of UA-cam I saw it was really easy to do the job and I made the installation successfully thanks to this video. Thanks 1A AUTO.
+Capt. Manuel A Mercado Thanks for watching. If any of our viewers needs to make this repair, we carry the auto repair part shown in this video on our website. Here is a link to them www.1aauto.com/radiator/i/1arad00852?UA-cam&CTA+Comment&OcLuEBk
I have a 2003 Ford Ranger 3.0 liter V6.... this video was perfect! I ordered my radiator from 1A Auto and it was a great price and a perfect fit.... just like the video. I installed the new radiator in about an hour and a half... I was taking my time and making sure I did it right! Make sure you have a pretty deep bucket for when you drain the radiator... My first pan was a turkey roaster pan and it filled up.
+Stephan Cheek Thank you for the great reply. We love to empower our customers by showing you how-to perform your own auto repairs while installing our high quality auto parts. Have a great day! 1aauto.com
Thanks for the video! I just did mine and it worked out great. One quick question, my truck was missing the plastic radiator cover. I can’t seem to find it anywhere online, so you have a part number or information to help me find one? Also the transmission line cooler clamps.
My only suggestion is make sure folks know the radiator comes with a second set of nuts for the transmission fluid. The larger opening set is the one that works for the 2001 Ranger.
Best video yet!! Accurate, precise and well communicated! My local parts store sells these for $155 and yours is 1/2 the price!! Are these radiators comparable to the OEM? Thanks for the video.
Hello from Oklahoma Does any fluid come out of the transmission lines? I don't want to mess with my tranny nor the fluid. I just had the transmission rebuild and I don't want to interfere and risk anything. I will be sure to follow steps regarding the video but when you said transmission I got a little worried. Thanks In advance!
Do you all have any videos on how to replace a damaged transmission cooler line? My line was twisted off when trying to remove my radiator. The connection to the radiator was rusty.
Great video! Took my fan off and then watched the video.. Old timer’s move too quickly.. Thanks.. Talk about the Warranty on parts (and why not cost) with each video from 1-A Auto
Really great video. This made my replacement a breeze. Except now my AC isn’t working and was ice cold before. No I didn’t hit or damage any lines. Any idea why?
I have a Ford ranger. And I just went to a mechanic so they can exchange the radiator. They left the plastic cover loose. Is that okay? I contacted the mechanic and send him a video and they said it needs to be like that because the new radiator is different. I hope you can read this. Thanks.
+Ryan Wismer We don't have a how-to video for your vehicle right now, but the basic steps in this video should be enough to do this task. Buy this part for your vehicle on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Car stop while im inside and now im not able to turn it on show code po442 and po492, this was recently replace, did I make any mistake I guess this is 2 people job. Need to be mentioned
What about the transmission? After taking off the two lines on the radiator’s cooling side of the radiator any need to worry about air pockets in that system? Don’t want my tranny to have an issue.
Just to comment regarding that gap. My '01 explorer sport listed two compatible radiators...one with a 1 inch channel and another with a 2 inch channel (Advanced Auto Parts). The 1 inch channel left that inch gap at the top and bottom. The two inch channel was the correct radiator for my setup. Folks need to check their setup...as there are some shrouds with a one inch lip for the one inch channel radiators. No idea how much (if any) the one inch gap at the bottom/top impacts cooling...but it just looks really weird.
what is that second radiator? mine broke and rapidly decompressed. i dont know how to go about replacing it. it looked like coolant that came out. (2003 ford ranger 4.0L)
Does this repair also apply to Mazda Bseries trucks? Specifically I have a 2000 Mazda B2500 Auto Trans. 2wd 4 cylinder. Understanding that there are a few minor differences here yet the Rangers and Mazda Trucks have the same basic make up.
+Yasein Brat Yes, This radiator also fits some of the Mazda B3000 and B4000 model years. It should be the same process. Here is a link to the replacement radiators shown in this video. Hope this helps you out. www.1aauto.com/radiator/i/1arad00852?UA-cam&CTA+Comment&OcLuEBk
I had a mechanic pull my 2001 ranger 4.0 engine ot to replace the timing chains. When he reinstalled it I think he may have reversed my transmission cooler lines. My question is and I Im getting conflicting stories on the forums. What line out of the radiator is the return to the transmission. A lot of vehicles have the inlet at the bottom and the outlet at the top to prevent aerating and foaming. I just want to know for sure. Im already sure the inlet on the transmission is the top. Just dont know which one it comes from on the radiator? Please help. Thank you.
We currently do not have an auto repair video specific to your vehicle. You might be able to apply some of the basic steps shown in this video to your application. +3g Eclipse Mods
+Stephen Selph Thanks for watching! It sounds like you have a manual transmission. If this is the case then you do not need to do anything with those lines, just install the part as is and leave them alone! Unless stated otherwise on the listing, our radiators are built to fit auto and manual transmissions, so if you do not have lines for the auto transmission you do not need to do anything with them! If you have any other questions you can give us a call and talk with one of our customer service representatives! 1aauto.com, 888-844-3393
I do have a manual transmission and it’s on my brothers truck I am considering buying but they’re is a few things I am worried about because I see the two holes for the transmission line but I have no transmission cooler line going from anywhere
I'm trying to pull the line loose from the top drivers side of the radiator and it won't break loose. when I turn it the line turns with it, I've coated it down with wd40 and tried flare wrenches. any ideas?

i put a steel window screen in front of my rad to keep the bugs out and it still looks like new after 11 years.
Do you need coolant in the radiator overflow tank ?
Great video. Well done, thank you

Any advice on how to remove the transmission lines? Mine are stuck. Ive tried pb blaster and still cant remove them.
Any luck getting them off?
I have a manual transmission, can I buy a radiator with oil lines and plug them or no?
As far as I'm aware yes. my ranger has plugs in it's radiator.
Extremely helpful and informative. Thanks and keep up the great work!

Is this the same for a 2011 FORD rangers 4 cylinder automatic?
I have a Ford ranger. And I just went to a mechanic so they can exchange the radiator. They left the plastic cover loose. Is that okay? I contacted the mechanic and send him a video and they said it needs to be like that because the new radiator is different. I hope you can read this. Thanks.

Changed my radiator now it won’t turn over. Read that squeezing the hose underneath the radiator should help but still no dice.
what is that second radiator? mine broke and rapidly decompressed. i dont know how to go about replacing it. it looked like coolant that came out. (2003 ford ranger 4.0L)
Let’s say nothing drains out after you open the drain plug what do I do next
Is the top transmission fluid line the inlet and the bottom one the outlet?
+Shane Lakings Thanks for watching! That line goes from the transmission to the radiator.
Gracias
Great video for the procedure. However, those worm gear hose clamps suck and the factory constant tension spring clamps are far superior.
Looks like my 2005 Ranger, 3.0L V6. I think they use the same radiator. Someone correct me if otherwise.
Any idea on how to fix the lower transmission coolant line on this ranger...leaking at the connector we’re u unbolt? Thanks
Old post, but it appears to be flared, try tightening more or inspect the flare and re-do it if it is deformed. Otherwise the rad might be the issue.
superb instructional vid
