COOLGARDIE WA is the birthplace of the great gold rush of 1892 and the site of Varischetti's amazing mine rescue after nine days trapped in a flooded underground mine. it's one of the nation's best preserved gold mining towns. Late 1890's, there were 15,000 people living in Coolgardie but today is 773 population only since 2022.
