My First Time Drag Racing The Scat Pack... I Embarrassed Myself

- Before doing any modifications or upgrades at all, I wanted to take my new 2020 Dodge Charger Scat Pack to the drag strip!
This was my first time ever at a drag strip, and im glad i went. It was a ton of fun seeing what this stock car is capable of. As it sits, it puts out 485 horsepower, and 475 lbs of torque. The biggest issue i have found is the tires just spin!
One of the first upgrades will be a good set of tires to help put down the traction, hopefully decreasing the 1/4 Mile time.
Towards the end of the night, Edinburg MotorSports park was hosting a street throwdown with a few classes and cash wins. I got a few clips of the earlier races, which was quite a show.
Next time, ill also try out launch control to see if that makes a difference in the time as well.
Future Upgrades for the next video:
K&N Air Filter: amzn.to/3f9tMyo
Hellcat Lower Airbox: amzn.to/3f8mZVU
As for my Jeep people!!!! The next video we will take a look at a very simple upgrade that any Jeep owner can use! - Авто та транспорт
There is a lot more to a race, than just stomping the gas. You figured that out as soon as you finished the first race.
You're improvement over those 3 races was amazing.
Keep up the dedication.
That last race was an adrenaline rush for me, just watching it!
Yeah but, can you fit 35s without a lift?
Nice ! Thanks for bringing back memories of my first passes. Sure am glad no one was filming me.
OMG! You are way too hard on yourself!
You did soooooo good....
12.3 is moving!
Great job !
Don't be embarrassed, the car was stock with factory tires & its your first time, just normal nerves,
I felt it before myself, knew what you were going through 😁
Wow, our 2020 Octain Reds can do a 12.3sec quart mile. Hell yea. You got me wanting to bring mine to the drag strip one day to see if I can get close to matching your times.
Such a cool addition to the channel. Looking forward to more Charger Scat Pack vids. You have nothing to be embarrassed for, you are evaluating what works for you and improving in just the first night of racing!
Great attitude, you will get better and better, reaction time is a big part of it. Cheers!
Don't sell yourself short. For your first time going down the strip you did great. It isn't as simple as people imagine. A couple of suggestions if you don't mind. Lower your air pressure to around 20-25 lbs. And at the line brake torque around 2000 rpm. Even the magazine testers are only going 11.7 in the quarter, you aren't that far off.
Awesome video! Happy Thanksgiving guys!
Love it, love it, love it!!!
As a Mainland Chinese, thrilled to know Dodge is now partly owned by Dongfeng of China 🇨🇳
@ 2:49
Wife'zilla coming out! Hahaha
Jokes aside, awesome video!!!
Thanks for posting today. Happy thanksgiving.
looks like a lot of fun -- I am impressed you had enough energy to get a video up on turkey day.
It looked like lots of fun. I enjoy all motor sports so thanks for sharing.
Great job Cassie, that looked like a blast! Keep Jeepin and Scat Packin Classy Cassie!
Texas drag racing looks like a good time! You should try to air down your rear tires for more traction next time 👍🏼
About time you raced that sweet ride !!
that red color at night looks awesome
Good job Cassie, you'll get better!!🤙🤙
The drag strip is a blast! Your first time out don't expect to run great times, it's a huge learning curve and takes practice and experience. You were getting it more dialed in as the night went on though, nice work! Still trying to figure out how a drag strip let you guys run without helmets, that's something I've honestly never seen before! Hope you guys had fun.
Happy Thanksgiving Ben & Cassie.
That looks like so much fun!
If your serious about racing get you some 17’s wheels with 275 drag radials. Air up your front to maximum pressure. Launch somewhere from. 1000-1200rpm foot brake. Don’t mess with that gimmicky launch control. I have hundreds of passes on a scat charger. Once you get it figured out it’s high 11’s all day long.
Mickey Thompson 305/45/17 Street R's. Best drag radial for that car.
A lot of people don't want to run their car in the track because they don't want to be embarrassed. But how are you supposed to learn how to drive your car if you don't put time at the track? My first time, I couldn't figure out the launch control if my life depended on it. Made sure I did more time on the track with street tires on before I got some track tires. Until I knew my steps from my burn outs, how long my burn outs were, to what RPM I want to launch at. Tire pressure is key too. I got my best time on street tires but the pressure was dangerously low. 😂 Got some Mickey Thompsons and I could go lower on tire pressure and higher on my launch sets. Once you hook and get the the car dialed in, you'll be putting those Mustangs in their place. For tire, the more the meat, the better. So it's wise to get at least 18" wheels x 10.5 so you get 305-45s 👌🏼
Good job Cassie! Keep it up! First time out. Stock car. You have this! Pretty soon you'll be whippin all those boys!
Glad you posted that you did great
Dammit!!! Push OK!!!! Wtf🤣
Great Video. You did great!
Lower the air pressure a little in the rear tires
That's awesome my hometown Edinburg Texas
What size wheels and tires are you getting i have a 2020 scat and debating what to get myself
Are you running full pressure in the tires?
If using street tires you should skip the water and just go. The fronts just put water where you don’t need it then.
hey screwing up is how you learn!
I 100% agree with that statement!! Once you screw up or do something wrong, you remember not to do it that way again😂
I thought you put up great numbers for a stock Scat Pack! I recently bought a 2019 Scat Pack and have the same problem getting traction with stock tires. My best times on the screen are 0 to 60 in 4.4 sec, and quarter mile time of 12.7 sec. But not at the track. My next purchase is going to be rims and tires.
Nicely done. i think give it a little time to get familar with your car for drag racing and practice. you will improve even more. thanks for sharing
I live like 10 min from the track wish I would of gone to see y’all I’m from Edinburg
Great job.
Nice job!
You should have gone up to the red mustang and said: "Dude I almost had you". :)
R.I.P. Paul
Dude you never even had your car. You should have been double clutchin... . LOL!
You need to do same as offroading LOWER AIR PRESSURE. Means more TRACTION
Take a Powertank with you so you can air down the tires. That might help a little with traction 🤷🏻♂️
You guys need to get the Demon Box!!!!
Cassie that was fun!
Keep it in track mode but put the traction control in sport, it’ll fix the tires spinning at launch. I’ve had the same car for almost a year but mine is a 2019
You did very well, keep it up!
Thank you!!
Fun video.
Overall for you first track day you did great. Just a couple pointers, figure out your launch by holding your rpms. start around 5000 rpm and work from there. along with the new tires and an air down you should get some nice launches. Good luck next time!!
Awesome car
That last run was good
6:57 Dakiti by Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Nice...the new wrangler JLU 392 also runs a 13.0 quarter mile! Would be a great race.😂
Hell ya send it 👍
Not too shabby
12.3 is good 👍 not bad for your first time
Need something like a pedal commander for instant throttle off the line
Great job yaw . Mopar no car welcome mopar family 🤘. Jeep . Mopar oh yes !!!
Check the tires...one of the main things to change is the 245 all season tires. 275 summer is the preferred
What year and how many miles your scat pack have
Watch the video
I don’t even have a jeep or Dodge….. just like watching you …..
😍😍
burnouts dont help with street tires can actually make it worse.
It helped for sure on the last few passes compared to the first one with no burnout
@@JeepGearGadgets ok. I had seen this video earlier ua-cam.com/video/FziGOFF-cgk/v-deo.html from a guy who does charger and challenger videos doing burnouts trying to get better times on street tires. Maybe because he was doing it on the street and not a track?
Possibly so
@@JeepGearGadgets I think your skill improved with each pass, most people agree burn-outs are no benefit with street tires.
Holy crap I just seen yalls LS on trailbuilt offraod..however they got your name wrong and put jeep gears and gadgets..I emailed them to change it !
The “best run” has the best 60’ time in the history of ever! Hahahahaha
Haha probably from the burnout
@@JeepGearGadgets what do you and Ben do for a living aside from UA-cam?
UA-cam is definitely our side job/hobby, we both work full time, Ben is active duty and I’m an accountant.
@@JeepGearGadgets oh ok cool, makes sense why you're moving cross country often. Tell Ben, thank you for his service!
Nice car so what did u and ur husband find out what was wrong with ur gladiator engine
You need to air down on the 392. Track mode is for a road course, Sport mode is for drag racing.
Don’t the scat have launch control also ?
Yes! Plan on testing that in a future video
The mustang was also on slicks
Best is best of the group. Last is the previous run.
Need better tires probably bigger trims and tires. The tires do not grip. Wonder what tires you're getting and if you're changing the rims. Also I wonder if you broke it in correctly. It runs better and faster if you break it in correctly. I've gotten it over 500 hp on the dyno graph at full throttle
✌️✌️✌️✌️
Not sure why dodge puts 245s stock on these scats. I changed out my wheels and tires a month after I got my scat.
I went with wider wheels and 275s in the fronts and 315s in the rears. Dodge should put a 275 minimum on the scats
Question is: did you get the drag racing bug?😅
Practice practice practice. You’ll get reaction time better
Edinburg 956. South Texas
Hey girl you need to turn off that tracktioncontrol .also don't burn your tires too much you get them too hot and they get slippery and span also try to shift manually by RPM that car should run in the high 11s low 12s
Transmission will shift quicker than she will be able too.
Cassie how nervous were you? Haha
What happen to doing jeep videos?
Cassie's been saying for a while they're trying to incorporate other activities.
Use launch control
Hey girl did you just say ridic
Racing the wrong car. Surprised you bought that for racing. Its a nice car but your gonna need a lot more if you're racing
It’s not for racing.
There was nothing stock about that Mustang
Nope. Hard to find stock cars out there at the track
Baune stock.
Hey, happy Thanksgiving to yo and family. That being said, ok...as much as I just love seeing you here, this is just too much. No need to rub in our face how generous our lord has been with you both, keep it simple and humble, you were in the right path. keep us expecting more of what you two are really good at, making us enjoy your videos. And seeing how amazing you look every time 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Are you kidding me? These two are about the most down to Earth couple on UA-cam. I am sure they work very hard for what they have and have never "rubbed" their success in anyone's face. Keep up the videos you two and I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
Wtf are you talking about
I’m so happy to see you both out having some fun ... you both work hard at your full time jobs and then spend a lot of time filming /editing and commenting on UA-cam videos. People don’t realize the sacrifices you guys make ... and for someone to make the comment that you are “rubbing” your success in their face makes me a little pissed
Rubbing it in our face? They pay for what they get unlike some that will recommend anything as long as it is free. and unlike some every other word doesn't have to be bleeped over. Most pathetic comment on youtube this month.
@@johnmitchell5264 there's always the one ass licker 😭😭😭
having a "back seat" driver is the worst when your nervous already ;) --- you did great!... Also strange they don't require a helmet! here on our 2 local strips they do and I have seen first hand it's us "weekender's" who need them most ;)
